Chapter 8 - Cursed
Thursday morning dawned sunny and glaringly bright, to the annoyance of one Kira Majen, who, typically, had forgotten to close his blind the night before and was now stumbling out of bed, sheilding his eyes from the sun.
After allowing his eyes a moment to adjust, and going to the bathroom, he wadered downstairs, taking the slice of toast and cheese whiz presented by his mother, who looked ever so slightly hung over. Deciding to dodge that bullet and leave her alone, he returned upstairs to get dressed.
/Meh... It\'s too early to coordinate... Good thing the school doesn\'t want us to have one individual bone in the student body.../ Grumbling, he pulled his uniform out of his closet and put it on, tossing his pajamas on the bed.
Returning to the bathroom for a moment, he looked in the mirror and ran a hand through his rather lopsided-looking reddish hair. He had evidently slept on his left side all night, because that side of his hair was completely flat. Glaring at the mirror image of himself, he played around with the hair for a few moments, until it was slightly less noticable. He didn\'t have time to shower now, so he would just have to live with it.
Dashing downstairs, he again bypassed his mother. Slipping on his sneakers and pulling a hooded sweatshirt over his head, he ran out the door.
Two minutes later he ran back, after realizing that he had forgotten his school bag. The redhead sighed deeply as he sank into the backseat of his father\'s car, praying that the day would get better from there.

His hopes were dashed though, as the day just seemed to get worse the further it progressed. His Math teacher seemed out to get him, repeatedly calling on him to answer questions that he had no idea about. They were doing something or other involving angles within a series of lines that was completely going over his head. The fact that he couldn\'t seem to get it was driving him insane.
Second period, when he thought he might catch a break and actually have a good time, the idea crashed- along with his computer, wiping out everything he\'d done that class.
Finally lunch rolled around, along with the prospect of seeing Toya, which certainly brightened his outlook some. He was really beginning to like spending time with the soft-spoken boy. He had been about the only person in the whole godforsaken school who had ever been particularly nice to him. The fact that he had invited him to sleep over at his house the next day still had his head reeling. /Tomorrow... Tomorrow will be better.../ With this thought in mind, he entered the cafeteria, slipping a hand into his pocket to retrieve his... /Lunch money! Oh god, tell me I didn\'t.../ He\'d forgotten it, all right.
Hoping to escape anything that could possibly make the day any worse, he wandered outside, near the place where he and Toya had sat for lunch, muttering under his breath. \"Perfect... Just fucking per-\" His complaining was halted as he suddenly found himself flat on his back on the ground, having tripped over something sticking up from the ground.
\"Ugh!\" Not making any move to get up, he closed his eyes, hoping that the world would just leave him alone for ten minutes.
\"...Kira?\" No such luck.
Slowly opening his eyes, he was met with a pair of familiar light blue orbs, staring down at him in an almost worried sort of way. \"You okay?\"
\"Ugh. Not really. I haven\'t been okay since this whole miserable, cursed day began.\"
\"Could I sit with you?\"
He nodded slowly, sighed, and sat up to face Toya. \"How did you find me out here?\"
\"I\'ve kind of been looking for you... I need to ask you some things, for tomorrow,\" Toya replied, taking out his lunch. \"Why aren\'t you eating?\"
The redhead made a face. \"Forgot my lunch money... What did you need to ask me?\"
Toya frowned, digging around in a pocket. \"In a minute... Here.\" He held out a five dollar bill.
Kira shook his head. \"You don\'t have to give me money...\"
\"Just take it. Pay me back if you insist, but you don\'t have to. Eat.\" He said insistently.
Sighing and smiling faintly, he took the money. \"Thanks... I\'ll be right back.\"

A short while later, Kira came running back with his usual plate of fries and a slushie in hand, settling down beside Toya. \"Okay, now shoot.\" He looked up at his friend expectantly, munching on a fry.
Toya nodded, toying with his own lunch. \"I was just wondering what you liked to eat. Snacks and candy and things of that sort.\"
Kira blinked. \"Uh... Snacks... No idea...\" He laughed, looking sheepish. \"I don\'t really snack all that often. I just wait until I\'m eally hungry and have meals at random points during the day. I\'ll eat just about anything when I\'m away from home though, so it doesn\'t really matter... As for candy... Fuzzy Peaches, Swedish Berries, Gummy Bears, and things like that... Ooh, and those little round chocolatey thingies with the multicolored sprinkles,\" he finished, fidgeting. Being fussed over this much by someone who wasn\'t his mother was odd for him.
\"Okay,\" Toya said, nodding. \"Oh, and you should bring some swim trunks...\"
\"What for?\"
\"You\'ll see...\" Toya replied with a smile, standing. \"Lunch is just about over... I\'ll see you tomorrow, Kira!\"
Kira stared intently after the slender form running off towards the main building.
/That boy has way too much energy.../ He thought with a snort, standing and making his own meandering way towards an entrance. /I shall have to find a much better use for it.../

Walking home that afternoon was possibly the best part of Kira\'s day, aside from running into Toya, of course. Glad to have the torturous day finally over with, he took his time wandering towards home, enjoying the fall scenery and the fresh, crisp smell in the air.
It was good, that is, until he was pulled without warning into a small alley between two houses by a pair of overly-muscled, heavily-tattooed arms. A second later, his gasp of surprise was silenced by an equally thick hand clamping firmly over his mouth.
\"Where\'s Kae to save you now?\" A low, dark voice growled right next to his ear, as he shivered slightly.
\"You wouldn\'t dare...\" Kira said coldly, speaking with more confidence than he really had at the moment, as the hand upon his mouth loosened somewhat. \"He will get to you. He has friends on the outside, you know, contacts... He\'ll find out, and he will get to you...\"
Roaring his frustration, Kaden threw Kira violently against the wall, who produced a high pitched squeak as he hit the brick wall. A moment later came the kick, delivered with all of the man\'s considerable strength, and then all went black.
Bwahaha. Who\'s this Kae, you wonder? That\'s for me to know and you to repeatedly poke me in an effort to find out... @_o;
