Epilogue: Case Summary

Clearly, there is more to this story. However, to date, this is as much as Melanie Lambert has been willing to relate in detail.

The Lamberts’ activities with their daughter were eventually discovered and reported by a suspicious neighbor. Melanie recently completed the first year of a 10-year sentence in a women's correctional facility, to be followed by lifetime probation. As a condition of her plea bargain, she is forbidden from taking any dopaminergic medication for her Parkinson's disease. Her symptoms have returned and are expected to worsen in the years ahead.

Gregory Lambert is serving a twenty-five-year sentence in a maximum-security state prison. Citing repeated assaults by other prisoners, he has made multiple requests to be moved into a protective custody unit, separate from the general population. Thus far, those requests have been denied.

Heather Lambert now lives with her maternal grandparents in another state. She is attending school and daily therapy sessions and has had no contact with her parents since their conviction.

The true identities and current whereabouts of Janet, Tracy, Toby, Jerry, Yolanda, Mona, and Emma remain unknown.
