Chapter 7

Kile finally got within a hundred feet of the house and saw that a few lights were on in the house. Slightly huffing from the exertion of the long walk, Kile gently stood there for a moment to catch his breath before he put the plan into action. So, when he caught his breath he put the backpack gently down on the ground and reluctantly pulled out the detonator from inside the front zipper part. He looked at the small detonator and then back at the Savalides‘s home.

Sweating profusely, Kile hesitated and took a long, hard look out at the dwelling through the trees. He prayed he could do this and save his family’s lives. He if could kill these people, then he would be free or so he hoped. However, there was a good chance that this psychopath wouldn’t let him go and kept him on to do his dirty work.

Kile shuddered at his thoughts and began to feel really sick to his stomach. His conscience was getting to him and swallowed hard as he sat down on a stump near his right leg. Closing his eyes tightly he began to pray to whatever deity was listening that he could do this and that he could save his family.

“Please, please, whatever Gods is listening… let me save my family. I beg of you. They mean the world to me and they are all I have.” Kile whispered, as he hung his head and shed a few silent tears. He doubted deities were real and if they were, he doubted they cared.

Rupert just got off the phone with his father and frowned grimly. His father wanted him to bring Agatha over to their home immediately and have Lorahlei Hampton have a look at her. Lorahlei was the best witch on this side of Alabama and had a knack for finding curses or for finding out what was wrong with someone. Whether or not it was magic related Lorahlei would be able to tell them. She just had that kind of gift and it was quite rare among the witch kind.

Most witches sold curses and other types of spells for a living. Not many could heal, see some kind of sickness, or even see the curses of other witches. However, that was the kind of witch Lorahlei was and she was the most powerful when it came to such skills. Sighing softly he looked at the phone and cursed softly. Agatha was not going to like leaving her home, but he knew it was for the best.

However, when Rupert turned to tell Agatha they would be going on a short trip to his home, he saw that she was not in the kitchen with him any longer and felt a short pang of worry. He quickly began walking around the kitchen lightly sniffing the air to catch any traces of her scent and knew instantly she was still within the house. Which brought him great sense of relief as he began following her scent trail all the way into the living room and saw her messing with a small, brown cubic box.

His instincts instantly began screaming at him and he did what came natural to any Lycki. That was to protect his mate at all costs and to put his mate’s needs above his own. So, with that in mind, he leapt the rest of the way across the room in a single leap, got the box from Agatha, and then using his unnatural speed he ran outside the house. Where he then promptly threw the package as far as he could sling the thing and sent up a silent prayer that he threw it far enough away from the house.

Rupert then spun around, ran back into the house, and scooped Agatha up. Who started flailing about and cussing his ears red. He didn’t know the elderly woman knew such words, much less what they meant, but from what he could tell she knew quite clearly what they meant and even gave him a rude gesture all the way out the back door of the house.

Using his Lycki speed, Rupert began running in the direction of his home and kept his senses alert to any danger that might be lurking in the dark. His home was only a few short miles through the woods and Rupert knew he could get them there in record time. If, he did not drop Agatha first from her continuing flailing about and cussing.

He could hear a distinctive BOOM not far off in the distance and gave thanks to whatever deity was listening that no harm had come to either of them this night. Rupert knew something was wrong with that box when he laid eyes on it and he intended to tell his father about that as well. He got a gut feeling that Hunters were involved in this and he was going to make sure they paid dearly for tonight’s transgressions.

Kile gulped hard and began shaking fiercely when the BOOM he heard did not come from the direction of the Savalides house. Instead it came from a couple of miles up the road from where he was standing and then the next thing he knew he was on his knees puking up whatever was in his stomach. He just sentenced his family to death and he could not believe his misfortune.

He didn’t know what to do and he felt a deep seated dread at calling that man with the news. Kile had to think of something to save his family, but he didn’t know what. His mind began racing with what he could tell the bastard and that was when he realized that no normal human could have thrown that box as far as it was slung.

Quickly he got back on his feet and reached into his pocket for the phone. Kile prayed with all he had that the leader would listen and agree to what he had planned. If worse came to worse… NO, Kile wouldn’t think about that. He had to save his family. His sister and mom was counting on him.

The sun had began to set as Angerona and her two friends began to file off the plane. They landed in Denver and would then it would be a few hour drive to the hotel that was near the small town of Jamestown. Sighing softly Angerona went through customs again and headed towards the bag retrieval area to get her luggage. Her two friends were chatting to a couple of guys not far away and she rolled her eyes. What else is new.

“You better heed what I said bitch. My boss and I do not take well to those who think they can go where they please without permission.” The man behind her growled as he shouldered passed her brutishly and began walking in the opposite direction of her two friends.

“Bastard.” Angerona said on a soft hiss as she threw her hand up at her friends to get their attention and hopefully tell them about that Samuel guy.
They finally saw Angerona waving at them and gave the guys they were talking a couple of pieces of paper. Angerona could only assume those two gave out their numbers. Now was so not the time to pick up guys.

They began walking towards Angerona with big grins on their faces and couldn’t wait to tell her of the two hot guys they met. When they got close enough to Angerona, their friend glared at them, and began to speak.

“That Samuel guy must have been on the same plane as us and he called me a bitch. Not to mention he basically told me to get the hell out of Colorado. Can I murder him?”

Evahraine stopped smiling and began scanning the crowd in the airport looking for that greasy headed fucker and hoped she could teach that guy a lesson he would not soon forget. Yet, she did not see a hide nor hair of that sleaze bucket and was greatly disappointed. She did not like that guy at all and knew he was going to be a hassle killing. What he said and did not sit well with her and as soon as she got the chance, she was calling her father. Surely he knew something on this guy or at the very least Elders of the League may.

“I do not like the look Eva just gave.” Alexis exclaimed as she secretly scanned the crowd too and decided it was safe.

It was one of those, I will kill the bastard slowly and painfully, kind of looks. Such a look brought a many an enemy to their knees begging for mercy and ran off just as many potential sex partners.

“Yeah I noticed. So, when are we leaving. I…”

Angerona did not quite get finished when she felt her stomach do a funny flip-flop and she had a serious bad feeling about something.

“I will murder Rupert if something has happened to my MeMaw.” She fairly growled as she swiftly turned around to grab her luggage.

“What is it Angie? Did you get one of those feelings?” Her friends said in unison.

“You could say that.” Angerona said with a grim look on her face. “Let us be on our way. The sooner I get away from this crowd, the better I can think and the sooner I can call my MeMaw.”

Angerona hoped the feeling in the pit of her stomach was wrong and everything was okay. However, she had the oddest knack of knowing when something was a miss and she knew that her MeMaw was in trouble.

What she didn’t know was how bad and what exactly was wrong. For that, she would have to call her MeMaw and Rupert. She prayed her instincts were wrong and she didn’t have to kill someone or something soon.

Evahraine looked over at Alexis and gave a slight nod. They knew Angerona was different and they also knew she was never wrong when it came to her feelings. It was as if she was plugged into not only them, but her MeMaw and just knew when something was up.

Secrets were hard to keep around their friend, but some how they kept one secret from Angerona and that was their Hunter lineage. Sighing softly Evahraine grabbed her luggage and watched as her friends do the same.

After grabbing their luggage they began walking to the rental car that Evahraine ordered, which was waiting for them on the airport parking lot. Eva’s phone began ringing like crazy not long after they left the central hub and they rental car guy told her the car was on row eleven of the parking lot. The guy, she rented the car from, told her that the car was about five cars down row eleven and she would find the car located there.

Angerona was looking forward to getting away from the crowded airport and on their way to the hotel. Where they could rest and possible get some decent food for once.

Soon they were in the funky, green rental car with a dissatisfied Evahraine over the color and with an Alexis grinning like a idiot over Eva’s disgruntled expression.

“Well, if you were not so short with the guy he might have picked a better color Evahraine.” Alexis said on a giggle as she winked over at Angerona in the back seat.

“You are just going to piss her off even more Alexis.” Angerona said as she rolled her eyes and turned her attention to the backseat window.

“Oh Angie your no fun.” Alexis said as she began humming softly along with a song that was playing on the radio.

Angerona just shook her head lightly as she let her mind drift off to her MeMaw and Rupert. She prayed to the Gods that nothing or anyone has hurt her MeMaw while she is away for a week or two. That would be devastating and Angerona doubted that would be something she would get over easily.

Her MeMaw was all the blood family she had left or at least she knew about. Sometimes she got the odd feeling their were others out there, but she had no way of finding out. She always hit dead ends and after a while she just stopped looking.
Shaking her head gently she tried to clear her head of her sad thoughts and tried to be as happy as her two friends. Well, Evahraine wasn’t to happy right now with the rental car guy, but Alexis was bouncing off the walls with energy.

Grinning softly she couldn’t help but wonder how Alexis had such energy. Sighing to herself Angerona decided she would try to have a good time. After all, what was the worse that could happen?
