A glimpse from the other side

Okay, I'm planning a scene coming up. I suck at writing slash scenes. I've asked for help. No one has responded yet, so I'll postpone it for now. If no one answers, I'll have to try myself!:)

~Do you like to be praised by answering everyone's expectations? Will your smile always be beautiful even if you hide your true self?~ Kanashimi wo yasashisa ni - Little by Little

Jaiden was waiting for Seth in the training room the next day. The room was filled with weapons of all sorts from guns to swords to explosives. Jaiden hated this room. It held so many unpleasent memories. Those memories always seemed to turn into dreams...

The door slid open. Seth walked in, fully healed and functional. No more bandages, but his attitude was still sore. Jaiden could feel the tension.

"Are you ready to begin?"

Seth didn't speak.

"We'll begin with shooting your gun. You must have good aim and an impressive knowledge about all your weapons."

"Why are you doing this?"

"Training you?"

"No, why are you making me train at all? I don't want to be a USER. I have plans for my life you know."

Jaiden sighed. "Seth, you know too much about us, you've seen the DarkSades. They will come for you again."

"Why? What makes me so special?"

"I'm...I'm not sure."

Seth held out his hand. "Give me a gun so we can be done with this."

Jaiden handed him a slim revolver. "You already know how to shoot?"

"Yeah."

Jaiden led him over to the hanging targets. It was a simple target, with a yellow circle on the center of the chest and head, a blue ring around that circle. Seth raised his gun and took aim.

"Ah, I see I made it just in time."

Jaiden turned. Head Kane closed the door behind him. He smiled at Jaiden, who looked away quickly, and stood behind Seth.

"Please continue." He said.

Seth aimed again and pulled the trigger. A hole appeared at the edge of the blue ring.

Seth lowered the gun. "Well, it's a little off but-"

A fist suddenly slammed into the side of his head. Seth fell harshly to the ground. His vision blurred slightly as he looked up at the man who hit him. Kane glared down at him.

"As a USER, every shot must be perfect! If you shoot like that against a DarkSade, the pain you feel now will be much much worse."

Seth looked at Jaiden, who seemed frozen. Jaiden turned away from Seth's gaze. He couldn't look at him laying on the ground. He knew what Seth was feeling. Confusion, pain, anger, slight fear. He'd been there before. He'd only been eight at the time. Learning to shoot a gun instead of playing outside.

Seth got up off the floor. "Haven't you ever heard no one's perfect?" He said, wiping a small tinge of blood from the corner of his mouth.

"That saying doens't exist amoungst USERs." Kane turned away from them and walked to the door. "Clearly, Marco has chosen wrong. A weak normal human training to be one of us is just amusing and both irritating." He reached the door and turned back to look at Jaiden. "I expect results with in the week Jaiden." He left.

"What an asshole!" Seth huffed.

"I apologize for not warning you of his tactics." Jaiden said, picking up the gun that had been dropped when Seth fell.

Seth took the gun. "Don't be sorry. Camille told me last night that he trained you."

"She spoke to you?"

"Yeah. She said that asshole trained you for eight years. So, don't be sorry. If that's all I get for a small mistake, I can only imagine what you went through." Seth's anger seemed to have diminshed. "You shouldn't let it haunt you."

"Nothing haunts me. I have nothing to be haunted by. My training was normal training. I was taught to feel nothing, not even pain. I-"

"Don't give me that bullshit Jaiden. I've know you only a few days, but I probably already know what goes on in here more than you do." He said, tapping a finger on Jaiden's forehead.

Jaiden smacked his hand away. "Do not judge me Seth."

"I'm not judging you, I'm just saying you seem a little confused and-"

"Please shoot the target." Jaiden said, turning away from him, facing the target.

Seth was quiet a moment. Jaiden could feel him just staring. "Fine, I'll play along. For now. But, if we're going to be partners, I think I deserve to know a little more about the man I'm supposed to trust with my life."

For the rest of training, Jaiden said nothing to Seth except what he needed to. When they were done, Jaiden was the first out of the room. He hated that Seth could see through him like he was. All the time spent trying to make himself numb and hide the bed feelings and memories, all of it was going to waste. This...stranger was trying to push through his protective walls. The worst was, Jaiden felt he was succeeding.

Jaiden stood before Marco again. New orders had to be given, now that Jaiden's new partner was fully healed.

"Jaiden, I feel it is best if Seth stay with you. He can learn how a USER acts and what precautions to take firsthand by observation."

Jaiden's stomach dropped. He had never questioned Marco before, but this...

"Sir, I disagree. Seth would be better here. We know DarkSades are pursuing him. If he's with me, he'll be-"

"Well protected, I am sure. You are one of our top USERs, Jaiden. I have complete faith in you."

"But, Sir I-"

"Is there another reason perhaps, that makes you nervous of having him with you?" Marco asked.

"N-no. It's fine sir. I'll move him in with me."

"Excellent. We have a new budding USER in our hands. I can tell." Marco said.

He dismissed Jaiden. Camille was waiting for him outside. She grinned. Jaiden knew instantly what had just happened.

"You suggested this, didn't you?"

She nodded. "I did."

"Why?"

"Marco and I see the same future unfolding here Jaiden. He fears for your humanity, as do I."

"My humanity is fine. I'm still human."

"On the outside. But inside, you're forcing everything into a storm. You're swirling around inside, Jaiden. Confused and scared. I have realized this. You don't fear DarkSades, but other people."

Jaiden walked past her.

"He'll make the storm stop Jaiden. Trust me!" She called after him.

Jaiden ignored her and went to find Seth. He looked in his room, but he wasn't there. He asked a passerby where he was.

"The new guys in the training room."

"Thank you."

Jaiden walked to the training room. Why was Seth there anyway? Training was over for the day. He slid open the door. Seth was practicing with the revolver. He was getting better, Jaiden noted as he walked over. Seth saw him approach and lowered the gun.

"What's up? I thought you would have gone home by now."

"Marco has ordered that you stay with me from now on."

Seth couldn't help the smile that crossed his lips. "Seriously? I get to stay with you, Mr. Moody?"

"I am not moody!"

Seth put the revolver back in it's case and put it away. "You can be. But it alright." He turned to Jaiden. "This actually works in my favor."

Jaiden was a little confused. "Your favor?"

"Yeah." Seth stepped up to him. "Now, I can really get to learn more about you, and you won't be able to run away."
