Six

I told Liz and Caleb today that Vince\'s demon was breaking loose. I had actually seen it for the first time the night before, when we had all gone to the movies to try to keep his, and our, minds off of Dana… A flicker of red and gold in the darkness, eyes turned black with flashes of color. They agreed that we would have to either suppress it… or release it…



We tried a binding ritual. Caleb brought him to our house and we tied him to the bed with a Solomonic Key both above and below him. It took hours of work to prepare, and then at least another hour to get him held down long enough to trap him and not any of us inside it.



Once we finally had him tied up enough that we could get out and speak the words, it was even more of a struggle than before.



We managed to pull it out of him for a moment, but then it just slid out of our grip and laughed.



The demon actually laughed.



Then he got up and walked out.



He walked straight out of the Key. Broke it; shattered it. The lines carefully drawn onto the ceiling and floor rearranged them selves into the words "nice try, but you can do better."



The rope we had used was lying on the floor, neatly coiled up. It had taken over a half hour of Caleb holding him down and Liz and I working on careful knot-work, her tying the knots and I tracing runes into them to hold him better, for him to be still enough that we dared move.



And that was the third time we had done it; the other two he managed to break out of our grip long enough that the rope would go slack and we had to start over.



And then he just got up and walked out.



We were all too shocked and scared to realize that it was, at the very least, still Vince\'s body.



And now it was missing.



And we had just pulled the demon to its surface.



What had we done...
