Part Eleven
“Fuck. We can’t drive through these trees.” Big Kitty sighed as he rolled to a stop.
The path started to narrow and close in on them. The gang got out and walked through the trees. Nicole floated out of the forest and stayed above the trees. Big Kitty led the group on foot with Little Kitty in his arms. An-chan held onto CrimsonMoon’s arm as they walked, her ears bent low to her head. Rain had her hands in her pockets as she took up the rear.
“Are we going to get through this before dark?” CrimsonMoon asked.
“Hell if I know. If we don’t, we’ll take turns staying awake to keep watch.”
“Aw! Isn’t Kitty-Cat the greatest leader!” Rain giggled cheerfully.
Giggles echoed around them. They stopped.
“That was creepy.” She rested her hand on the hilt of her katana.
Big Kitty unsheathed his. “It can’t be good.”
“ATTACK!”
Small glowing balls flew at the gang. A few knocked An-chan and CrimsonMoon to the ground. Big Kitty swung his blade but missed. Rain dodged the few that came at her.
“Hey! These things are Fairies!” She called out to them.
“Don’t hurt them!” An-chan sat up.
“What?” A few glowing balls grabbed Big Kitty’s wrists in his distraction and lifted him from the ground. “What the fuck?! Put me down!” He struggled in their grasp.
“Hang in there, Kitty!” Rain grabbed her stomach as she laughed, still dodging the Fairies.
“Stop!” One glowing ball floated by itself before the gang. The glow faded to reveal a small Human looking creature with pointed ears and almost invisible wings fluttering every few seconds. His hair was blond and flowed down his back. His eyes were orange. “Leave this forest and we will stop our attack.”
“We’re just passing through.” Big Kitty said.
“Check them for the mark.”
“Mark?” Rain arched an eyebrow. “You mean the inverted pentagram?” The lead Fairy looked surprised.
“We’re on the same side then. We’re trying to find the Jesters.” He turned back to Big Kitty.
“Very well. Release them.” The small glowing balls floated behind the main one who moved to Big Kitty. “I am Anex. When you have located the Jesters’ base, call us and we will come to your aid.” He held out his hand, palm facing upwards.
A small emerald appeared before him. It took the shape of a tree. It floated to Big Kitty and shot at his chest. He stumbled back a few steps.
“It will stay hidden inside you until you need it. When the time comes, it will appear.” Anex turned to the rest of the gang. “This forest is dangerous. We will protect you while you’re here.”
“How do you know we’re not lying to you?” Rain helped An-chan and CrimsonMoon back to their feet.
“Fairies have magical powers. They can sense when they’re being lied to.” An-chan answered. “They’re peace-keepers unless someone threatens them. And even then, they won’t kill anyone. They’ll put the enemy to sleep and remove them from their home.”
“You are correct.” Anex nodded once in agreement.
When the forest started to get dark, the gang stopped for the night. The Fairies helped make a fire and put up a protective barrier around them. Nicole played with the wood in the flames.
“Are you missing hubby?”
“Yeah.” The Goddess sighed. “But it’s alright. I’m going back up to Heaven in a few days. I can’t stay on this plane of existence for too long. It’s too exhausting.”
“That sucks.”
“Yes, yes it does.”
“I’m gonna go find the Kitty-Cat.”
“If you keep bothering him, he will snap back.”
“I’m counting on it!” Rain left the barrier and went off to look for her prey.
She moved slowly through the trees. She wasn’t really in the mood to play with him tonight. Besides, she wouldn’t want the Fairies to find out her true intentions. If they knew of her power, they’d try to kill her. They may be able to see though most people but not her. No one could see through her.
“Safrol a krute.” She laughed as she thought about those words. “If only he knew what it meant.”
“Mine to kill.” She stopped and turned around.
Leaning against the tree behind her was a tall man with dark hair slicked back with only a few tresses falling over his almost glowing honey brown eyes. His glasses glinted eerily as he moved from the tree, placing his hands into his pockets. He wore a suit that was all black. Rain forced herself not to shiver as he stopped before her, an amused smirk on his face.
“You must be a Vampire since you translated those words.”
“Correct.”
“You work for the Jesters, don’t you.”
“Correct again. In fact, I’m second in command to the twins who are leading the Race.”
With lightning fast moves, he grabbed her neck and slammed her against a tree. Her glasses fell to the ground at the attack and her eyes widened. No one had ever been able to catch her by surprise. She felt the pounding in her head from where is connected with the tree and she smiled at the Vampire.
“Well now, I must have your name and a promise of a good fight.”
“Crawford, and yours, little one?”
“Rain.” She grabbed the hilt of her katana and unsheathed it.
He dodged the blade as it was revealed. She ran at him and swung her blade at him again. He moved the left and she followed after him. Using his fast movements again, he shifted to her back and grabbed her wrists. He pressed his thumbs into her tendons and caused her to drop her blade. She winced slightly and took a few steps back, slamming him into a tree. His grip only tightened on her wrists. She jumped up slightly and pushed her feet into the tree in front of her, pressing him more into the tree at his back. He moved both of her wrists to one hand and used his free hand to grab her right leg, pulling it from the tree and causing her to lose her grip slightly. He pulled her thigh to rest parallel to her body.
All movement stopped. They were in a stalemate.
“Fuck.” Rain cursed as her left leg started to hurt from the strain.
“Your foot is slipping.”
“Yeah, no kidding.”
When her foot fell from the tree, she expected to fall forward. But she didn’t. He was holding her up in the same position as if she were nothing.
“Holy crap, you’re strong!” He chuckled, a deep throaty sound, before licking a trail up her neck. “Hey! Don’t you dare bite me!”
“And how could you possibly stop me?”
“I’ll kill you.”
“My bite would kill you.”
“I can’t die that easily.”
“Oh? Even more incentive.” Rain’s mouth opened in a silent scream as his fangs punctured her neck.
***
“Something’s off about you.”
“Shut up.”
“What happened?”
“I got some info. There are two Jesters who are leading this thing. They’re twins. Their second in command is a Vampire.” Rain’s upper lip curled in disgust as she spoke the last word.
“So even you can be gotten to.” Big Kitty muttered thoughtfully as he glanced at the three sleeping in the back.
She could see herself reaching over and ripping his throat right from his neck...but she refrained. It wasn’t his blood she wanted.

“The team dynamic is becoming more apparent. Some aspects are strengthening and some are splintering. But they are still persisting. The Goddess will be leaving soon. Without her presence I believe more will be revealed. Report over.”

Who is giving the reports? O_O
EDIT 04/14/09: Just a note, I'm stealing Crawford from Weiss Kreuz and twisting him into what I need for this story thingy. So, if you need a disclaimer or something, here - WK is not mine and never will be. He is the only anime char I'm stealing so I don't see why I should place this in the WK fic archive. Plus the fact that I hadn't originally planned on putting him in here. O_O
