Love Begets Love

A/N: As promised, here’s the next chapter. I beg you, before jumping into conclusions, please read the whole of this chapter. Thank you!

I can’t promise a sooner update after this chapter, I have a lot of things to do. But as long as I will have the time, I will update as soon as I can.

In the meantime, here’s Chapter 7.


After Adrian’s death, Rufus was never the same again. His loss became too much to bare. He started to stop caring. To forgot all the pain. He concentrated on widening his business empire. He swore to himself that he will be feared by everybody, and no one will ever do something like that to his family again.

Rufus succeeded in his goal, but it also caused him to spend less time with Gregory. And Gregory was wary of the drastic change in his father’s behavior. They started to argue on almost every thing. Rufus accused Gregory of not caring a lot about Adrian’s death. And no matter what Gregory did, he could no longer bring back the loving father he once had.

When Gregory decided to marry Gabriela, he swore to himself that he would never be like what his father had become. And Rufus would not influence his family. Gregory only agreed on Rufus’ business propositions, but Gregory would never allow Rufus to intervene in family matters.

When Jeremy was born, he looked more like of Adrian, and his grandmother. Rufus loved his grandson, but he was so afraid to shower him with love and affection like what he did with his late wife and late youngest son. He was so afraid to be close to Jeremy because he knew he could no longer bear it if anything happens to Jeremy. His previous losses were just too much to bear. So he appeared strict and stern to Jeremy.

He grieved for Gregory, and he is still grieving for his son’s loss. But he would not allow anybody to know. He is stronger now. He would never go back to his old self with when he lost his wife and youngest son. Never.

When Rufus learned of Jeremy’s pregnancy, he was so mad. He was so mad at Gregory for allowing such liberty to Jeremy. If Gregory could have been strict like him, this could not have happened. Not again. He would not allow things to go out of control again. Things has to be his way and no other way. He has to fix the mess.

“I would never allow another Montgomery to have any member of this family! Especially my own grandson!” Rufus said to himself as he stood in his study. He was furious.

“Grandpa, Doctor Lewis has arrived.” Gael said as he entered the room with the doctor.

“Okay, let’s go.” Rufus said as he led the doctor to Jeremy’s room.

The moment the door opened and Jeremy saw the doctor, he cowered in fear. He was clinging to Cleo with all his might.

“Grandpa, please! I beg you! Don’t do this, please!” Jeremy was crying so hard.

“Sir, please! Don’t do this to your own grandson! And your great grandchild!” Cleo started to beg himself. He was unarmed, they took his gun earlier, and he was just allowed to be with Jeremy until the doctor arrives.

“Get out, Cleo.” Rufus ordered.

“You will have to kill me first!” Cleo replied.

Three strong guards approached them, and Gael started to pull Jeremy from Cleo.

“No!” Jeremy shouted as he was pulled away from Cleo.

It didn’t take long before Cleo was overpowered and was knocked unconscious. He was brought out of the room by the three guards.

”Cleo, no!”

Gael held his cousin. “Stop struggling! There’s nothing more you can do!”

“S- sir Rufus…” The doctor said nervously.

“I want you to get rid of the baby. But be sure that you will not cause more pain to my grandson than necessary. If you have to sedate him, then do it.” Rufus ordered.

“Y- yes, sir.” The doctor took the syringe and approached Jeremy.

“No, please no! Grandpa, please! Please! Daddy, help me!” Jeremy was thrashing. But Gael was strong, and Even Rufus helped in holding him down. In no time, they were able to succeed in sedating Jeremy.

It didn’t make him unconscious, but Jeremy lost all his strength. “No, please… not my baby…” He was still crying.

“Sir, please leave. I can handle it from here.” The doctor requested.

“Make sure you do your job.” Rufus replied before he and Gael left the room.

The doctor locked the door and approached Jeremy on the bed.

“Please, don’t do this. I beg you.” Jeremy pleaded weakly. He was already losing consciousness.


After some time, the doctor burst out of the room with his bloodied hands.

“Sir! I… I have to get your grandson to the hospital! I… I can’t control the bleeding!”

Upon hearing this, Rufus’ felt that his world is starting to crumble. He can’t lose Jeremy too!

“You bastard! What did you do?!” He wanted to shoot the doctor right there and then but Gael prevented him.

“Grandpa, we still need him!”

“Get Jeremy and prepare the car! You will pay dearly if anything happens to my grandson!” Rufus was shaking with fear.


Rufus rode in another car, and Gael accompanied the doctor and Jeremy in another. Gael drove the car and the doctor laid Jeremy on his lap.

Rufus’ car broke down in the middle of the road, and just told Gael to proceed to the hospital.

They were on their way when two black cars cornered Gael’s car. Gael saw men getting out of the vehicles. Because of the emergency, he was not able to bring any weapon with him.

“What the!” The men immediately pointed a gun at him.

Then Gael recognized one of the men who approached the car.

“C- Charles Montgomery?!”

“Yes, Gael. It’s me. No other!” He immediately punched Gael in the stomach. “That is for trying to hurt Jeremy and my baby!”

Gael then realized everything. “Y- you!” He pointed at the doctor, who was now carrying the still unconscious Jeremy. “Y- you tricked us!”

“I- I’m sorry, but I couldn’t bear to kill an innocent.” The doctor replied.

Charles spared no time. He took Jeremy from the doctor’s arms. “Let’s go!”

Gael could not do anything at all. He just stood there as he saw Charles leave with his unconscious cousin. He couldn’t go after them. The guards burst all his tires.


“ I’m so sorry if I got you into this mess, angel.” Charles said as he caressed Jeremy’s sleeping face. He was holding Jeremy inside the car.
“The sedative will wear of anytime soon.” The doctor said.

“Thank you so much for all your help. I will never forget this” Charles said as he held Jeremy even close to him.

“I did what I think should be done. Jeremy was pleading for your baby’s life and I just could not afford to do it. So when Cleo called to inform me that the baby was yours, I just can’t do it. After all, I owe a lot to your family.” Doctor Lewis explained.

Cleo was not convinced if Doctor Lewis would help them, his communication with him was cut after his first call. His cell phone was confiscated. So when he arrived that night, Cleo thought that the doctor chickened out.

But Doctor Lewis could not risk letting Jeremy or Cleo know of the real plan. He could not afford to let Rufus get suspicious. After all, Rufus is a very intelligent man. Without their knowledge, he secretly contacted Charles, and Charles planned everything. The blood in his hands and in Jeremy was not actually Jeremy’s blood. It was some blood which he kept secretly hidden in his instruments.

He did not abort the baby, but he made Rufus believe that he actually did, and overdid it in the process.

“He will be waking up soon. It was a very mild sedative. It has no effect on him or the baby. I admire your courage, Charles. You better take good care of him and your baby. After all, you are a very lucky man. If only Gregory would have been alive, things would have been a lot easier.”

“I know.”

“Just be careful. Rufus is a powerful man. And I am very sure that he will never stop until he finds Jeremy. Cleo mentioned that Rufus wanted Oliver Castle for Jeremy. Keep him and your baby safe.”

“I will. I swear I will. You also have to take care. Here’s the money. This is going to be enough to start a new life somewhere. As promised, your family is waiting for you in another state. A new house and lot.”

“You don’t have to, Charles, you know that.”

“No. You deserve even more than what I am giving you. After all, you brought me the most important person in my life. Be safe, Anthony.”

“Thank you, and good luck to you both.” The doctor replied before he finally went out of the car. Charles dropped him off somewhere safe.

"I will make everything alright from now on, angel. I promise." Charles said to his sleeping lover. He could not help but notice how Jeremy felt so light, and Jeremy's puffy eyes. He kissed Jeremy tenderly and held him closer.
