Chapter 5 - I'm Not Crazy

Chapter 5 - I'm Not Crazy

“Yeah, it’s me Jessica. I’m just calling you to let you know that I had a great time last night. We should do it again sometime. I love you, Alan.”

(I love you? Why is she telling me that she loves me? What in the world did we do last night?)

“Anyway, I need to go now. I will see you in school on Monday.” She hung up the phone before Alan could reply.

“Wait!! Hello? Jess, are you there?” He tossed the phone across the table.

(What the hell is going on? First, I lost a day of my life. Then the girl of my dreams called me on my cellphone and told me she loved me? So I was with her last night? My day is getting weirder and weirder by each passing moment.)

After he finished his breakfast, Alan went back inside to his room. On the way in he closed and locked the door behind him. He sat down at his desk and there it was again his written report; he got an A on it he knew he did not do. He tried to remember what happened yesterday, but he could not remember a thing. All he could remember was studying really hard the night before and then all of the sudden it is Saturday after falling asleep. His mind is completely blank about what went on the previous day.

Alan’s mom came banging on the door. “Hey open the door. Open the damn door now!!” It took a while for the banging and screaming on the door to get his attention.

He went and opened the door. Before he could ask her what was going on, she held a pack of cigarettes in his face. “What the hell is this? I found this in the bathroom. Have you been smoking? You are smoking at 14 years old. Are you crazy?”

“What?!?! I never smoke, ever. That pack of cigarettes is not mines. I swear.”

“Who else could it be? It’s only two of us in this house. It’s either you or me. Where the hell were you last night anyway? Were you drug dealing and stuff in the streets?” She continued on her interrogation, which ended up into accusations.

All he heard was her loud yelling of words that he could not register.

(Have I gone completely insane? Why is there so much stuff happening this weekend? My life can’t get any worse than this can it? Ah! My head is starting to hurt again.)

With all that had happened, all Alan could think of was the call that he received earlier this morning. She told him she loved him. What she said, was it true? Did she really mean it? Aside from the strange stuff that had happened, the rest of the weekend he stood in his room thinking about Jessica.
