Eilla could feel a cool stream of air trailing up and down her body. It took her a moment to realize she was in her room, laying on her bed in front of an oscillating fan, her left hand laying softly on a small white garbage can from her bathroom. There was a dull pain in the back of her head, and she was still in her clothes from the night before. One of her shoes was still on.
It was all she could do to push the garbage can away and prop herself up on her elbows. She tried to remember how she could have gotten home. The last thing she could remember was sitting in a booth with Eazy, laughing about... well, she wasn't exactly sure. Something about basketball, maybe. Whatever it was, she was just happy Ben was coming home that day. Running into Eazy had made her nervous, and she was anxious to be with him again.
The whole day a dull headache followed her around. Waves of nausea did not cease until early in the afternoon. She tried to call Theo and ask what had happened the night before, but he would not answer his phone. She toyed with the idea of calling Eazy, but decided not to. She would not be the next one to initiate conversation between the two of them. It was getting to dangerous. She loved Ben, there was no doubt about that, and she knew why she would never want to be with Eazy again, but sometimes, with her head spinning from vodka tonics, she knew she could not resist him.
Ben was arriving at the airport that evening, and she could barely contain her excitement. She wanted more than anything to forget about her still faintly present hangover and her faint guilt. Why was she guilty? Ben wasn't a terribly jealous person, she had seen Eazy before while her and Ben were together. They only went to lunch and met at a club by coincidence, right? Ben probably wouldn't even care, right? Eilla just needed to see him, to look in his gorgeous green eyes.
Why was this a problem all of a sudden? Ben went away frequently, she was no stranger to him being away for a week or so. She was also not completely out of touch with Eazy and Ben knew that. This was the first time, though, that she had seen him and not immediately come home to Ben. She had also never seen him without telling Ben. She had talked to Ben the night her and Eazy had lunch and had lied about who she ate with, saying it was some girlfriends. If she told him the truth now, she couldn't blame him for being upset with her.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a shrill ring from her cell phone.
