The Day After
It was a busy morning. The girls had to get packed. Most had packed the night before but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was those girls that refused to leave. The carriages were waiting but they were not boarding. Lucas was assigned the task of getting them gone. The producer was busy watching footage and putting together the hour show, which he hoped to grab a worlds attention with. Starfyre was still asleep and Stephanie was just doing her thing. She wasn’t worried about having to leave.
Prince Andrew Vandrake was on his way towards Starfyre’s room. He had a breakfast tray with a delectable breakfast upon it. Fruit salad, Juice, Eggs and hash browns. It was breakfast for two. He didn’t seemed concerned about the girls that were leaving. He would much rather focus his attentions on the girl that was staying.
“Knock, knock.” He stood outside the door of suite A. “Anyone awake?”
“Hey.” Stephanie blinked. “Oh, Romantic. Breakfast in bed.” She opened the door fully. “Star is in her room, still sleeping.”
“Thank you.” Andrew hesitated a moment before he entered, “Stephanie?”
“Ohhh” She caught the hint quickly. “ I was going to get breakfast anyways.” Stephanie chuckled. “Enjoy and no funny business.”
“Again, thank you and you have nothing to worry about. I respect her.” He stepped in, The silver crown atop his head was freshly polished. “Chef has some delicious food ready.”
“See you later.” Stephanie waved and closed the door.
He was alone with her for the first time really. Most of the time, Stephanie had always been around them. That or the other girls were in the room and or the producers were following them around with cameras. Andrew looked forward to this.
“Starfyre?” He called to her and pushed the door to her room open with his foot. “You awake?” He smiled at her half asleep form. She was covered in blankets. The only thing that showed was the top of her head. “Breakfast.”
“Hmm?” She yawned and curled up further into the blankets. “Andrew?”
“Yes and I have breakfast.” He placed the tray on a night table, beside the bed. “Wake up. Don’t want it to get cold.”
“I am awake.” Yawning, she poked her head from under the covers. But, I..am only in a night shirt and night shorts here. So maybe I need to get dressed?”
“Non sense. That just makes it easier for me to keep you in bed to eat.” he chuckled. “Come on, sit up.” Andrew pulled the tray over. “Out first breakfast, alone together.”
“First time alone together.”
She sat up. Her night shirt was a renaissance shirt that had a Black dragon on the front of it. Her hair was in a messy night bun and she looked like she just woke up. She never looked so beautiful to him.
“You look ravishing.” He held up a strawberry and pressed it to her lips, softly. “You really do.”
“I just woke up.” Starfyre took the offered bite. She was blushing as she did. “I probably look horrible.”
“Not to me.” He took a bite from the same Strawberry. “You look like an angel.”
“You’re going to make me blush.” Starfyre picked up a biscuit. She was nibbling on it. “So, where did Stephanie go?”
“She was kind enough to go have breakfast.”
“She must really want to..” Starfyre had so much to think about still. Everything was new for her. “Want..to see us together.”
“I believe that would be the case.” Andrew hmmd, “Something else on your mind though?”
“A lot of things.” She glanced at her left hand and the ring. “Everything is still so new and..I have so much to think about and do.”
“Oh?” Andrew offered her a bite of egg. “You can talk to me about it.”
“I know.” She swallowed the bits of egg down. “I just..I don’t know. It doesn’t feel wrong but it feels fast. You know?”
“Because it was fast. It didn’t take me long to realize that I loved you.” He was feeding her little bits. Andrew wanted her to eat and have plenty of energy to get through the busy day. “But what things do you have to think about?”
“School, my mother, if I want a career or..If I want to just be a wife. My friends as well.” She sipped on a glass of juice. “There is also you to think about. I grew up in a completely different world almost. Tovia is almost like a separate dimension compared to my home.”
“This is a large undertaking. I have to agree there, but,”He smiled, “It is one that we are doing together. Now that I have found you, I don’t want to lose you.”
“That is another thing. I am still somewhat new to relationships. I had a boyfriend once, about a couple years ago. I was still in high school. It ended badly. He cheated on me. I was devastated. I never dated again. Ever.”
“That makes this better for you and me. I get to prove that not all men are pigs and you get to be spoiled rotten, by me.” He gave her another bite of eggs. “This breakfast in bed is only the beginning.”
“Mm..” She blushed, looking down. “You are really sure that I ..am who you want? Even as confused and strange as I am?”
“I am a million percent positive. Even more so, actually.” Andrew cupped her chin in his hand. “Am I..who you..want?”
“I..” Starfyre looked up at him. “Yes..I do but, I am a little scared. I admit that freely.”
“What are you scared of?” He placed the tray to the side and scooted closer to her. Andrew leaned against the large head board and hugged her against him. “I will never leave you. I love you with all of my being and my parents adore you.”
“That is a new one.” She leaned against him. “I have never had any one accept me so openly and without question.” Starfyre looked up at him. Her cheek was resting on his chest. “It feels...strange.”
“You will be accepted by a whole country and more. We don’t expect you to change. You will be my princess and eventually, we will become king and queen of Tovia.”
“Y..yeah.” Starfyre pulled away slightly. “Which brings me to the career thing. I have been in school for three years now. I have one year left. I told you that I was studying to become a veterinarian.”
“Yes, and?” Andrew raised a brow.
“Well, do princess’s or queens work in a animal clinic? Think about it. I want to finish school but..I may end up having to give up on the career.” She frowned. “I don’t know. It feels like..I shouldn’t but part of me sais that is what will happen.”
“You do not have to give it up. If anything, you can go around to the clinics here and help We have a fine zoo and well, we need experienced Veterinarian’s here. In fact, it can only make the people love you more.” Andrew nodded and kissed her forehead. “I do not want you to have to give up anything. I just want to be with you and only add to your life, not take away from it.”
“You really are trying to spoil me.” She chuckled.
“Yes I am.” He grinned and pulled her back against him. “I always will spoil you. Just wait until you are pregnant. You haven’t seen anything yet.”
“P..P...Pregnant?” Starfyre gasped. That was one, small little detail that she had not thought about. “Y.you mean have children, right?”
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I want a family with you?”
“O..oh.” She whimpered. “I..guess I never thought about having children before, that..is all.”
“You can relax. I am not asking you to have them now. When we are married, we can discuss and know a right time. Until then, I am being greedy and keeping you to my self.” Andrew let his hand slide through her messy, white curls. “Plus, as rulers, heirs are kind of expected of us.”
“Would you get angry if I said this was all a bit over whelming for me?”
“Not at all.” He pulled the tie from her hair and let it fall. Andrew smiled, as she had beautifully long hair to her center back. “I only think it makes you a normal person. I would be scared if you weren’t. I know that I..am feeling scared my self.”
“You do not act it.” Starfyre looked down again. He was brushing her hair. She really liked her hair played with. “You seem very calm about the whole thing.”
“Years and years of diplomatic and social training.” He chuckled. “My parents didn’t miss a beat with my lessons.”
“Why are you doing that?” Starfyre closed her eyes. She could fall asleep already. “Brushing my hair, I mean.”
“Because I like your hair. You should wear it down more often. It is long and very beautiful.” Andrew slid his fingers gently through the curls. “Like locks of silk. They curl down and just amaze any who see them.”
“Andrew,” Starfyre blushed a deep crimson. “I..get the curls from my father, I think. My mother has straight hair so I know I didn’t get it from her.”
“That reminds me. I wanted to ask why you hide your accent. I can hear it, slightly. It is a very lovely accent. I do not think you should hide it.” He smiled and pulled the hair back as he brushed. “That is just part of you, right?”
“I wish it were that simple.” She finally let her accent come. “I never knew him. I wish I did sometimes and sometimes I would rather see him dead for leaving my mother like he did.” She shook her head. “Accents are not supposed to be an inherited thing and yet I have one. I never wanted a connection to him.”
“Sometimes, things happen for a reason.” Andrew leaned down so her back was pressed against his chest. He then kissed her cheek softly as he hugged her. “I can help you find him, if that is what you want. You can tell him how you feel and maybe, getting those feelings out, will help you to accept a little more.”
“Do you think it would really help?”
“I remember once, when I was a small boy, I was so angry at my father. He decided to try and promise a marriage arraignment when I was only eleven.” Andrew leaned back, with her against him. “I was not going to let it happen. So I found the Alliance contract before he sent it back and tore it up. I then proceeded to yell at him and let him know that I would marry when I was ready. No contract was going to force me into love.”
“I am confused. You..did that but you agreed to this? All of these girls signed agreements like my self.” Starfyre shifted slightly so she was more beside him and leaning against his chest. “You wouldn’t have loved, so to speak if..you had just chosen one that you hoped to grow in love with.”
“My parents were really pushing me. I figured that I would go through the motions and at the end, change things. Send her away if it was not real love between us. I never expected, as I said before, to find you.” He chuckled. “That just goes to prove what I say even further. Things happen for a reason. We may not understand why or how but fate usually always shows up in the end.”
“I suppose.” Starfyre sighed. “I still have one large thing to do, regardless of anything else though.”
“What is that?”
“Tell my mother. She wanted this for all of the wrong reasons. She is a money hungry woman so..I hesitate in telling her. Yet, I know she is going to see it when they air the show.” She looked up at him. “That may be a few months down the road but what is better? I tell her or just let her find out?”
“Personally,” Andrew pondered what he would do, “Let her find out. By that time we will already be married and she will have no claim or say on you anymore. You are nineteen and of age to consent to marriage.”
“Really? She might..try and pull something if I told her now. And..um, be married in just a few months?” That surprised Starfyre. “That..is..soon, isn’t it?”
“My parents will not wait any longer than that. Besides, we love each other, so it is okay.” Andrew slid his finger tip down along her cheek. “Six months minimum. Eight months maximum.”
“Most people wait a year to be married.” Starfyre was a little more scared than before. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to. It was more so that it was fast. “But, I guess six months is okay.”
“You can shop around for a wedding gown that suits you. Money is no object, my love. From here on out, your wish is my desire to fulfill. The wedding? Any way you wish. It is your special day. You are simply inviting me along for the special moment.” Andrew grinned. “And, forever after.”
“I am not sure what will be worse. Me planning a wedding or everyone’s reaction to my tastes. Maybe you want to rethink that a little?”
“No, I don’t.” He kissed her cheek again. “I know you have unique tastes. So you may be wearing a black wedding gown. Som the theme may be a little dark. As long as you say I do to me, I do not care. Just watch out for my mother. She will try and take over on you.”
“There was this one gown.”
“Really? Tell me about it?” Andrew was glad to see that she wasn’t objecting to being married. She was just a little overwhelmed and that was okay. “Like, where and..how to get you what you want?”
“I am not exactly sure. I saw it at a unique wedding designs store, by my college. It was from the Marie Gothic wedding collection. Surprise, surprise, it was white but it had an appeal to it. In black, it would look beautiful. The sleeves stopped just past the shoulder and then flared out into a chiffon sheer material. The skirting was a solid and than had the same chiffon over it. The corset was red and gold on the white but..for black I would make it purple and silver.” Starfyre smiled. “I remember almost choking when I saw the price though.”
“How much?”
“Five thousand.” She cringed. “It is a lot of money. Plus that is just the starting price. It was a custom piece that has to be made and fitted to the bride to be.”
“I guess we should find the designer and get her started right away then. Six month is a short time to make a custom dress.” He had no objections. She always had very classic taste. Her outfits were always very well styled and never outrageous. “Do you remember the name of t he shop? We can send someone there to find the designer.”
“Maybe, we..can go?” Starfyre knew she was asking him to leave here for a little but she didn’t feel right with someone else going. “I..already feel like I am asking so much with that gown. I think..I should at least go.”
“I have been needing a vacation.” Andrew chuckled. “So why not go to your home and see this New York place for my self.”
“You really, really are trying to spoil me.”
“No,” He smirked, “Well yes and besides. I will have to have a matching suit. So, it is best that we are both seen, no?”
“You...would really dress to match? For me?”
“You will find, my love, that there is not anything in this world that I would not do for you.”
“You...have to help me then. I....do not want to choose everything by my self. You have to help me pick things, like a wedding cake and decoration, Okay?” Starfyre couldn’t hide her blush. “Together, right?”
“If you insist, but.” He smiled. “I think I..need a kiss to properly motivate me, however.”
“A kiss huh?” She chuckled. “Would this just be an excuse?”
“No and yes.”
He lifted her chin, kissing her softly at first. She gasped into the kiss. His arms wrapped around her and his hands massaged along her sides. Deepening the kiss, he held her closer to him. Andrew let his hands slide down to her hips as he held and pulled her closer, so she was almost straddling him.
“Mm..mm..Starfyre.” His lips mere centimeters from hers. “I love you.”
“I....I..”
She panted lightly. Her hands touched his cheeks and he kissed her again. His hands wrapped around. His right hand was behind her neck and his left was at the small of her back as he shifted. Andrew laid her down to his side so he was partially over her. Her knee slid up, brushing along his outer thigh. Both her arms wrapped around his shoulders and neck. They were lost in the kiss with each other.
“I think,” He pulled away just slightly, “That this is going to be a very good day.”
“Andrew....”
Kissing her again. His hands massaging over her side. It was all so fast. Starfyre whimpered as he pushed her further down on the bed. He couldn’t help him self. Not with her.
