7. Moving Away
“So,” Lucas said. “There were two people. A guy and a girl?”
“Yeah,” Talan said looking down.
“Okay,” Lucas said.
“I’m so sorry,” Talan said.
“I’m sorry you did it too,” Lucas said. “But I can’t have that happen to me. I fell in love with you, and you fooled around. It’s time for me to bow out of your life.”
“Lucas,” Talan’s eyes began tearing. “I love you. I was stupid.”
“Listen,” Lucas said. “I’m aware that you are sorry. But when you break someone’s trust like that. Then there is no way that it can be okay.”
“So I’ll never see you again then?” Talan said.
“No,” Lucas said. “The memories I’ve made with you were great. And I will never forget them. I don’t want to waste them either. But, they are last one’s we will ever make together.”
Lucas turned and left Talan’s house.

Talan went to work the next day. He was very unemotional. He wasn’t happy when he greeted his customers and he didn’t thank them for coming in.
“Talan,” Les said. “What is wrong with you?”
“Nothing really,” Talan replied. “Just having an off day.”
“I can tell,” Les said. “That’s why I think you should take off early. Get some rest or something.”
“Are you sure?” Talan asked.
“Yep,” Les said. “Come back on Monday with more enthusiasm.”
“Alright,” Talan said leaving the store.

It was Friday, the day Lucas was leaving. Since Talan told him about his cheating he hadn’t heard from him. The day was perfect for his sad mood. It was pouring rain outside.
Talan sat on the recliner in his living room watching TV. His mom wasn’t home. He was flipping through the channels trying to find something to get his mind of Lucas.
A knock came at the front door.
Talan set the remote down and get up. He headed for the door and opened it. Behind the door was Lucas. Lucas was standing there, soaked from the pouring rain.
“Hey,” Lucas said.
Talan had nothing to say.
“I said hey,” Lucas said.
Talan shut the door behind him and was now in the rain with Lucas.
“Hey,” he said. “I thought you were leaving today.”
“I am,” Lucas said. “But not for an hour.”
“So you came here?” Talan asked.
“Yeah,” Lucas said. “There is something I need to say.”
“Okay,” Talan said preparing to be torn down.
“I’m in love with you,” Lucas said. “I care enough about you to forgive you for what you did.”
“Really?” Talan asked, “Why?”
“I told you,” Lucas said. “I love you. It’s hard for me to fall in love. But, I know you’re right.”
“We can’t be together,” Talan said. “You are moving away. And I don’t know if I can stay faithful if you are in another state.”
“I know,” Lucas said. “I don’t want to be with you while I’m in Florida. But, I’m only gunna be gone for a year. Then I’m coming back here for college.”
“You are?” Talan asked.
“Yeah,” Lucas said. “Then maybe we can see what happens.”
“That would be really awesome,” Talan said.
“Good,” Lucas said. “That is all I really wanted to say. I think it will be good for us to lose touch over the year.”
“Yeah,” Talan said.
“That way,” Lucas continued. “We can start fresh when I get back.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Talan said.
“Well,” Lucas said. “I have to go.”
“Okay,” Talan said.
Lucas turned around and walked through the pouring rain to his car. He opened the door to get in.
“Wait,” Talan yelled as he ran towards Lucas.
Lucas turned to face Talan. Talan moved toward him, put his hand around his soaking neck and pressed his lips with Lucas’. Their lips melted together. For minutes they kissed in the rain until Lucas broke away.
“I have to go,” he said.
“I know,” Talan said. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Lucas said.
Talan stepped back.
“Hey,” Lucas said. “Don’t stand out in the rain too long. You’ll get a cold.”
Talan smiled. Lucas smiled. Lucas got into his car and drove away.
THE END
A/N: Okay that was rather short. Shortest of the story after all. But I think it was a good ending. There will be a sequel, eventually… Thanks for reading!
