Chapter Seven: Under Lock & Key (Memories)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The moon shined brightly down upon the lonely dirt roads, surrounded by taverns and places for men to go when they were feeling lonely and wanted to pay for some company. The roads were deserted, all of the places that surrounded Robert in the bad part of town were full of drunkards and cheap women, none of them were outside. Yet he could hear the men laughing, women shouting and the chatter of bar tenders as he walked alone.

With nothing but home on his mind, he walked, staring down at his shoes. Sometimes the people would yell so loud, he couldn't even hear the sounds of his own footsteps, and it got very lonely.

All of the sudden, as he turned the corner a young woman came walking towards him. She asked, "Excuse me sir, I'm seem to be lost. Can you point the way to Winchester road please?"
He was tired, and hungry. The last thing he wanted to do was walk this young woman to her street. But before he could dust her off, he looked up, and was taken back.

She stared up at him, with the most innocent hazel eyes he'd ever seen. A warm smile stretched across her face. She stood just in front of him, obviously not from this part of town. Wearing a midnight blue dress, that clung to her shapely form, with black around the edges of the top, where her shoulders hung out, revealing her tan skin. Her long blond hair was put high up, showing off her long neck, and the dress came just below her knees. She wore black gloves on her hands as well, and matching shoes. Lovely, was the first thought that came to mind when he saw her. Absolutely lovely, and all alone.

His eyes sparkled, and he could not refuse her. Though he was surprised that she was even speaking to him. An obviously wealthy young lady, and there he stood living near the bad part of town, wearing nothing more then a simple outfit. Brown pants, and a white button down shirt. Some duddy matching shoes that were worn. But she just smiled up at him, and he offered to walk her along to her street.

"Thank you so much. I was so afraid, being on my own." She said to him, her voice was soft and delicate.
She took his arm as he walked her, and he replied, "You're welcome Miss."
Looking up at him in the moonlight she replied, "My name is Carmen."
He said to her, "What a beautiful name. Sounds like something sweet."
Blushing, she explained, "It's Latin. It means, 'Poem' or 'Rhythm Of Words'."
"I'm Robert." He told her.
Her eyes widened as she smiled, "Ooh, that means 'Bright Flame'."
Wrinkling his brow he asked, "Where'd you learn all this?"
Carmen answered, "I just like the origins and meanings of names is all."

They walked and talked for a long while. He was dazzled by how bright and charming she was. And she was so kind to him. He even made her laugh. The time just flew by, and before he knew it, they were at her road. Down at the end of it was a large and beautiful Mansion, far off in the distance. He just said goodbye, and she thanked him.

But, as he was walking away, she turned and called out to him, "Robert!" He stopped and faced her. Walking a little closer, she came forward as well and said, "If you'd like, tomorrow you can meet me here at this place?"
He smiled, and couldn't believe it. But he realized he couldn't meet her during the day, so he offered to meet her at sunset, where they stood now. She agreed happily, and they said goodnight.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

He could still smell her intoxicating scent from the first night they met. And it was just as sweet after all those years. He was now on the third floor, heading down a long stair case to the main front room. All the while remembering her. He even remembered the year he met her, he said it under his breath, "1500." A weak smile spread across his face. But it was soon replaced with a look of hate in his eyes. For the more he dwelled in the dream that was her, the more he wanted to kill, maim and destroy everything and everyone who had ever lived.

On his way down to the main room, he met Bruce.
"Hey, they're here. With the slayer." He explained.
Robert stepped aside him and began walking, Bruce followed and Robert replied, "I know."
Bruce ran one hand through his thick black hair, "Well you, want me to tell um to send some Creatures out or..."
Robert stopped to face him, "No one is out and after them?"
He replied, "Well, we figured you know, we'd better ask you...since they'd, well maybe you have some ideas...they could be hard to find on this ground."
Robert reached down in anger, grabbing Bruce's light blue button down shirt and lifting him off the ground, "You imbecile! They're in the front yard, how can they be hard to spot! Or are you to insolent to notice!? We've been trying to get to the slayer for days, and you wish to ask if it's all right to capture her!?"
He looked down at Robert nervously, and answered, "Now, Robert...I can explain."
"Explain what? I am going to kill you!" He shouted.

Just then, Jerry hurried to him, Robert dropped Bruce to the ground. He rolled a little ways before he stopped. Rubbing his aching head from the fall.
Jerry said, "Master, we've got some Creatures headed out after the warriors. They appear to have with them an unknown person. We are looking into that as we speak."
Robert glanced down at Bruce, "Thank you. At least someone, is doing his job."
Putting his hands behind his back, Jerry asked, "Is everything alright?"
Walking up the steps slowly and painful Bruce answered quickly and angrily, "He's a little on edge!"
"I'm fine. Just bring the slayer to me." He replied.
Jerry then questioned whether or not the others should be killed. He answered him, "Bring whom you can from their group with little harm. I think I'd like them to watch the ceremony."
"Yes Master, it will be ready soon." Jerry said.
Bruce loudly said, "What? The ceremony? That's all I've heard 'it will be done soon'. You said that several hours ago!"
Robert walked slowly to him, backing him into the stair rale, "You know something, whoever it was that made you a Vampire, should perish in our apocalypse along with those humans."
Bruce swallowed hard as Robert continued down the steps. He looked over at Jerry, staring at him with an angry look on his face, Bruce smiled nervously and said, "I..uh better go make sure that uh ceremony thing is uh, goin' okay and all.."
With that he took off down the steps as well, Jerry slowly behind him.

After looking over the grounds, and thinking the coast was clear, the warriors and Bobby, had deemed themselves ready to face the evil that lied within the castle walls.
Kevin asked, "Any questions? Or last words?"
James looked down at the ground and then asked, "Yeah. Who in the bloody hell keeps this grass so short? Can you see a little Vampire comin' out here and keepin' it trimmed?"
"Someone’s taken the matter to lightly." Said Bobby.
Melina looked at them both, "Please you two, it's time."

Before anything else could be said, out from behind, Melina was grabbed by two Creatures! In shock she quickly squealed and kicked as they lifted her into the air. Bobby was the closest and lunged out, but the Creatures were too fast. Bobby fell on his stomach on the ground, it was then a Creature grabbed him up, taking him into it's arms. He was too weak to fight back, he knew that, but still he tried.

It was then all of them realized between themselves they had only four swords! One was tossed to Amy, the other to James. Then one for Eliza and the last to Rose.
Kevin ordered, "Quick, after Melina!"
"What about Bobby?!" Asked Marie.
He replied hastily, "It's too late for him."

Tossed over the Creatures shoulder like someone already dead, Bobby pounded his fists against the beast. But it was to no avail, for the monster was much stronger then he, and it effected him none. But he could see Melina ahead of him and hear her screams, also the sounds of footsteps behind him. Footsteps of Amy, James, Eliza and Rose. Following behind them were the others, all supposed to be after Melina. But when the Creatures split, Marie and Misty both looked at each other. They had a decision to make.
"Who's more important, the slayer, or a mortal?" Said Misty.
But Marie had made up her mind, and went after Bobby. She was the only one.
Misty just called for her once, before running with the others after Melina.
Kevin yelled, "Where the hell is she going!?"
"Keep running ahead, never mind her!" Misty replied.

It seemed the faster they ran, the more Melina became harder to see, and before long, she was out of sight. They'd taken her in the left direction, on that side of the house and into the woods. Surrounded by tall tree's once again, they pressed on. But not for long, because it was then two more figures came lashing out at them. Only these were not Creatures, they were Vampires! Two of them, female.

Misty took off running, as though she were going after Melina. Amy, and the others with weapons quickly followed, only Misty stayed behind, hiding under cover of darkness. Now just Angel, Britney and Kevin stood up against these two Vampires. While Misty lie in wait, hoping the two women did not spot her taking off.

It was clear they didn't want to kill the fighters, rather just take one back with them. And they had there pick of the three, choosing Kevin! Angel and Britney tried to hold them off, but it was no use. Their strength was unmatched by the humans, and they soon had him within their grasp. Giving him a hard disruptive blow to the head, they struggled to take him away with them.

Running up behind one of them, the one with red long hair, Britney tried to stop them. But being right near the stone castle, she spun around quickly, knocking Britney up against the hard wall, sending her crashing into the ground. Angel ran to her, and while he was with her, they disappeared with Kevin.

Quickly following after them was Misty. And still chasing after Melina, whom they could not see anymore were the others. They heard something running at them, like several footsteps all at once. They thought maybe Melina had some how broken free, but it sounded like multiple footsteps. They soon found out, that there were three Creatures headed their way! All three of them coming speedily at them! With their swords drawn and ready, they stood firm. But the beasts did not stop, slamming into them all hard, knocking each one on the ground. Out deep in the forest with no idea where they were, there was no where to run.

One of the Creatures knocked the sword from Amy's hand, persisting to drag her unwillingly away. But she fought at it. James rose up, knocking one of the beasts back just as it came to grab him up! He quickly picked up his sword, launching it into the air, sending the blade landing directly into the monsters face. But by the time he looked back, the Creature was dragging Amy away. Without thinking he ran after her.

Now, just one Creature left, Rose and Eliza stood up to fight, without weapons, their swords still on the ground. As the Creature came at them, Eliza swung low, dodging the beast and picking her sword up. As soon as she rose, the Creature took hold of her, but she flung the sword right into it's arm, slicing it completely off. Rose took this time to get her sword and fight.

Struggling to get free once again, Eliza swung her weapon into the air non stop, but it did no good and finally, the Creature hurried away with her. Not before Rose planted the blade of her sword into the monsters back. As she tried to pull it out, she fell to the ground and watched Eliza be dragged away, hearing the final sound of her sword being dropped to the ground.

Taken away by those Creatures were, Kevin, Melina, Bobby, Amy and Eliza. Gone, faded into the mist. Leaving just Marie, Misty, Rose, Angel and James. Their plans scattered to the nights wind, as the others were taken into the castle, up the long winding stair case to the fourteenth floor to become prisoners to the Vampires, under lock and key. Only to be taken out, to watch the ceremony before their painful deaths.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The next night he was surprised to see her there. Waiting for him. He himself wasn't even sure what he was doing there. And now with her, it became even more unreal to him. How she could enjoy being with him, and how she made him feel that everything he said was important. But she seemed happy to see him, greeting him with a smile and reaching out her hand for him to kiss.

He couldn't believe she looked even more beautiful then last night. Dressed all in red, a form fitting outfit that came down passed her knees. Strapless, revealing the most beautiful set of diamonds upon her neck, he'd ever seen, with matching earrings. Only this time, she let her blond hair flow down over her shoulders.

Feeling so inadequate, wearing the best suit he had. It was just straight black, obviosly used and cheap. But still, she never mentioned it. He couldn't stop staring at that necklace, thinking about how bad things were for him, and how good everything could be if he could somehow get that necklace off her. Somehow take it, without her noticing.

Robert felt awful for even having thoughts such as those. He told himself that she must have been really naive to dress in such a way and then go out with a man she barely knew. But the truth was, she trusted him. Whether it was something in his eyes, or just the way he spoke, it calmed her, and she was comfortable around him.

She took him to a lovely place, a quiet place, very small but with some dancing. All the money he'd brought along with him couldn't even cover his meal, and she could tell it made him feel bad. He felt so out of place in a room nicer then his own. They ordered, and had dinner, all the while talking about such down to earth things. But it wasn't until she asked for a dance, that he really began to realize why she was so alluring to him.

The music started to play, softly at first. As he took her hand, she smiled up at him, looking deeply into his eyes. He wrapped one arm around her, as she placed her hand carefully on his shoulder. Neither of them were sure if either one could dance, but as soon as they music kicked up, they both moved so gracefully as one. Moving to the rhythm of violins and soft piano, as her heart began to pound within her chest.

As the melody flowed within them, she pulled herself closer to him. And when she did, he could smell her, looking down at her neck he could feel her coming closer to him. Resting her head on his shoulder, she wrapped both arms around him and something clicked. And they connected in so many ways, without saying a word.

It was then his lips grazed her throat. With the tune blaring, the sound of her heavy heart beat and her arms around him, it was almost too much. They spun moving together, she took his hand as he flipped her, and then pulled her back so quickly it caused her to gasp. And when she gazed into his deep in tracing eyes, while the music finished, their lips came towards each other. But it was then, the music died.

With full view of her throat, he moved in, and she had no objections. But when his mouth came upon her neck, he found himself unready, and couldn't. Feeling ashamed all of the sudden, he just pulled back. He looked at her unable to speak, and then he dashed out of the place, with Carmen quickly following after.

It was the first woman he'd ever really wanted to take in that way. The first he wanted to be his victim, the urge within him was strong. But still clinging to his human side, he could not do it.

Dashing out into the moonlight, she caught up with him.
"Why did you leave me in such a way?" She asked, upset.
He turned to face her, "I..you wouldn't understand."
Neither of them knew what else to say, especially not Robert. For how could he tell her what he truy was.
Carmen walked towards him, her eyes now full of anger. She said, "All night, you've been acting this way. Like you're nervous or afraid of something, always pulling back. And at dinner, you didn't touch anything, I can't understand. Or at least I didn't think I could. But when we danced I thought...." She trailed off, her eyes looking away from him. Then, she continued, "Is this what you've been looking at all night!" She said ripping the necklace off her neck. She threw it down in the dirt, "Then take it, it's of no worth to me anyway." With that, she stormed off.

He quickly picked it up, running after her. Without saying a word, she turned, and he said nothing. Just handed the jewels back to her and walked off. She stood there in great disbelief, completly unsure of what had just happened. And Robert, was sure he'd never see her again, but maybe it was for the better, he thought.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Sitting all alone in front of the fire, down in the main room to the right, he clenched his fists in anger and hate. So deeply lost inside his thoughts, he didn't even her or sense Catharine had come to him.
"Robert." She said softly.
He stood up and faced her, "Yes?"
She walked towards him, "I think you'll be pleased to know, we've captured your slayer."
Just then, in walked Chris. Smiling with his brown eyes, he ran one hand through his light brown hair and said, "She was brought in only moments ago, placed in the room just passed the third tower of the west wing."
He smiled widely as he said, "Excellent!"
Chris asked, "Have you ever seen her before?"
"No." He replied.
Just then an annoying voice all three of them knew to well said, "Then how do you know she's the special slayer."
Bruce stepped into the room as Catharine replied, "We used the orb to find her you imbecile!"
"I am so tired of being called that!" He said, offended.
Chris replied, "Then stop acting like one."
"I will go and see her." Robert said, walking out of the room, he added, "So you know where I'll be."
Finally he would meet her, now she was within his grasp and he couldn't have been more please to know, that soon the world would be in the palm of his hands.

All hell had broken loose in the cell downstairs while Edward watched helplessly. Many of them were cowering in fear, and he realized then that nothing could have prepaired them for something like this. But there was no time left, he stood with his ear to the door, trying to listen over the sounds of arguing, crying and whimpering. Alison among just a couple others, tried to keep order, but it was no use.

Then suddenly, it was time. Brad could tell by the look on Edward's face.
"They're coming!" He said and almost abruptly, things got worse.
Hillary curled up in the corner, "I can't! I can't do this, we wont make it!"
Alison kneeled down beside her, "Yes we will, we have to try!"
"This is bullshit man, crazy messed up bullshit! Those things will rip us in half!" Adam scowled.
Annelisa added, "They'll murdered us! Why can't we just pretend and play along with them and then try and run?!"
Brad answered, "Because we don't know what they want us for, we could be slapped in chains when they come for us? Then how would we escape?!"
"He's right! Just stick to the plan, stay together!" Alison said.
Keira came up behind Brad and whispered, "I'm so scared."
He turned to face her, "Don't worry. I'll make sure you get out." He told her.
With a weak smile, she put on hand on his shoulder and squeezed tightly.

They could all hear those Creatures coming closer and closer, the horrible noises and hissing sounds they made, only put more fear into their hearts.
"We can make it." Said Nicholas.
Latila replied, "I don't know, I don't think I can run passed them."
Edward answered, "Just hang close together, we'll be alright!"
The footsteps drew near, "I don't want to die! My family is waiting somewhere for me." Said Hillary.
Brad replied, "Then don't disappoint them by not showing up!"
"What if I'm the only one left behind!" Latila cried.
Alison heard them just a few feet from the door, "Everyone, huddle near the door! This is it! We have to run out together!"
Though all of them were shaking in fear, they all rushed to the door. Readily awaiting to be free. Keira held on tightly to Brad, as he made sure she was behind him, clutching her hand firmly.

The lock was unlatched, and the door knob twisted. As soon as the door opened, they came pouring out. The Creatures did not expect such an out pour from the inside, and being just two of them opened the door, they motioned for some others to come and help them!

The underground area was huge. Much larger then any of them remembered. And Creatures were on every level. But up above them, way high was a bridge. The bridge that lead them to the hall, where at the end was the exit door. All around them, everything was stone and all around on every wall was a cell. Some high up, and some lower on the ground. They knew that inside several people awaited their deaths as well. In the center of it all, were several tables and instruments set up, must have been for the ceramony the Creatures had spoken of earlier thought Edward.

Not much time to stop and take a look at their options, they just had to run, and as fast as they could. They could hear the footsteps of Creatures behind them as they tried to stay in one large group. But despite their efforts it failed miserably. Brad and Keira were very fast and quickly made it out ahead of everyone else, never letting go of one another. Their shoes tapping wildly one the concrete and stone beneath them. Directly behind them were Edward and Alison. However, in the very back, lagged Annelisa.

Screaming and panting from running, she could hardly bring herself to move anymore, and tripped. Falling just before the Creatures! Without thinking, one of them, with a twisted and abnormal face, more so then the others, reached down and sliced through her stomach, right into her flesh. The searing pain caused her to cry out in agony, the Creature then lifted her into the air at such speed, it ripped away at her organs, slicing many in two before she finally breathed her last, then slid off the beasts claws, on to the cold ground. Blood spraying, and oozing all over the ground.

Nicholas and Latila stayed pretty close together, dashing and dodging the monsters left and right as best as they could. They rushed over to the left side, hurrying up ahead to the first set of stairs they could see. Four Creatures came rushing up behind them, and Latila nearly tripped, but Nicholas caught her just in time. Almost reaching the stairs, with the monsters just right behind them, Nicholas stopped!
"Run! I'll keep them off you!" He yelled back at her.
She spun around once to look at him, and then carried on. But the Creatures did not plan on killing him, they needed him, and so instead of trying to fight him, they just came, picking him up. He tried to fight them off, but was not a skilled fighter in anyway. The best he could do was hope and pray Latila would make it.

As two of the four Creatures carried him away, he watched her yelling, "Run! Go! Hurry you can make it!"
She reached the stair case and hurried up the stairs, but the stone steps were crushing her bare feet, and by this time they were bleeding. Yet she kept going as hurridly as possible. But the Creatures seemed to move at a lightning speed! She only turned to look back for one second, but that was all it took for them to grab her! They had her now, kicking and screaming as they dragged her down the steps.

Already on the second level were Alison and Edward. Running non stop with no looking back. They'd lost the first set of Creatures following them as they ran! Now they were moving on a higher level, only able to run on the strip in front of them, and to their left, was no railing. So they had to be careful not to fall. Just ahead of them, were two Creatures, ones who'd been guarding that level. They had no choice but to stay forward, for if they stayed behind they could be attacked from the back. So they made a run for it!
"As soon as we get to them, duck and we'll slide passed them. It's our only chance!" Alison said.
Edward shook his head, and that was there plan.

Fast approaching the Creatures, they readied themselves for the pain to come, and ducked to slide. Immediately falling, and hitting their elbows hard on the stony surface. But it'd worked. They rose up quickly denying any pain they felt and kept ahead. The Creatures turned and ran after them, not noticing Brad and Keira just behind them. They'd slowed down somewhere in the process of running and just decided to stay in back.

Hillary had stopped and given up at some point, allowing the Creatures to take her. Adam watched her be taken away, hiding underneath a stair case. When he was sure the area was clear enough, he hurried up the stairs and to the second level on the left side. But as soon as he reached the second level, there were two Creatures waiting for him, he tried to turn and run back, but he was surrounded. They had him now, and were taking him back.

Leaving just Alison, Edward, Brad and Keira heading up. Level after level. They had to make it, and pushed their bodies to the limit. Though none of them really knew what to do once they reached the main door. Would it be locked? Probably they thought, but there wasn't much time for that kind of thinking. They were out on the loose with enough problems. Only one thing kept them going, the thought that somehow, by chance, they'd escape.

Melina sat and waited in her room, thinking to herself. Wondering how she could have ever let herself be captured. Looking around the room she began to wonder whether or not it'd be the last room she'd ever see.

The ceilings were high, but the room itself wasn't too large for a castle of that size. It was considered one of the smaller rooms. The carpet was a peach color, as were the walls only a darker shade. It wasn't a bedroom, but rather some sort of sitting room. With shelves all around, empty of course, because the room seemed to have not been fully decorated yet, and the paint on the walls was fresh.

There was nothing in the center of the room. It was very open, with a few chairs lined up against the walls for sitting, and torches to light the place. There was also one large chandelier type light fixture that held torches on the ceiling.

The room was oxigon shaped, with two square windows on each of the main walls. They were covered by silk see through curtains, that matched the floor and walls.

Everything seemed to be falling apart for her. She'd spent all her life training, fighting and keeping everyone safe, and now it had come to this. People enslaved by the Vampires, warriors dying off, leaving just the few to fight and deep down she knew many of them were probably killed or captured in the quest to get her back.

She felt unequipped and now, unable to get herself out of the room. She stood up and walked to the windows to her right. Peering out over everything. Seeing the clouds, her mind began to wonder. If there bars weren't there, and the windows weren't locked, she'd have surely thrown herself out the window, she thought.

After all, this was all her fault. If she had just killed herself earlier and not been afraid to die, they wouldn't be fighting. The ritual wouldn't be able to be performed.

Robert was at her door, and in a much more optimistic mood then she. But something was about to change him, he didn't know it yet. As he unlocked her door, opening it, she heard him, but did not move. She knew whoever it was could not harm her, and she was not afraid, not of who was at the door. But even more afraid to know that soon, she would be dead, but not just her, everything she'd ever fought for. Those thoughts weighed heavily on her mind, as Robert stepped in through the door, locking it behind him.

He could see her from behind, looking out the window, she said, "What can you possibly want from me?" Such doubt and disappointment in her voice pleased him as he came towards her. He said, "I just wanted to finally meet the slayer whom I've sought after for days now."
Melina, heard his voice and immediately knew who he must have been for she had heard so many stories about him, but never met him face to face before. She slowly turned around, and replied, "You must be Robert Cassotto.."
As soon as he saw her face, it was as though he could not draw breath.

Wearing a dark green sleeveless top, and brown leather pants, with black heeled boots, she faced him with her blond hair tumbling over her shoulders. Though her voice was slightly different, he could have sworn on first glance it was her. He knew then, if the heart in his chest could beat, it would be going wild.
"Carmen." He said in a hushed whisper.
The look in his eyes didn't frighten Melina, nor did it upset her, but rather put her at a strange ease. Still in silence, he walked towards her, looking her over. Standing just a few feet from her, she looked at him curiously, wondering what he was going to do.

He reached out, and she jumped back a bit.
He said softly, "Please, don't be frightened my dear."
With her hazel eyes she glanced down, watching him, raise his hand to hers, and take it. Rising it to his lips, he gently kissed her hand. This was the man who had killed millions off innocent souls, reigned his destruction upon the face of the earth and was now ready to destroy every human being alive? She was strangely taken back by him, it couldn't be him she thought.
"I'm so pleased to finally meet you." He said.
And then, without knowing why she replied, "Melina, my name is....Melina." She breathed deeply, feeling a connection with him, one she was unaware existed before until now.

Again, in silence they stood, staring at each other. Finally, she spoke out, "You..you can't be Robert Cassotto."
He replied, "But I am."
She then asked, "Did you not bring me here to destroy me?"
Robert didn't know how to respond, he was taken off guard, not easily shocked, but he was at the moment.
So she moved closer to him and repeated her question angrily.
Struggling to come to from his surprise he replied, "You will see."
"You've come to meet me before my death?" She asked.
But he still fought to speak, so she continued, "What is the matter with you? Why do you not answer me?"
He looked up at her, and replied, "I'm sorry. I must go. I shall return shortly."
She just watched him hurry out of the room, and wondered what was bothering him so much, but she could never understand at that moment.

As soon as he closed the door behind him, he walked a little ways down the hall before stopping. His thoughts could not help but all stray to her, to Carmen.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Robert went back to his small cottage and slept that night and all day until evening came upon him. He then rose and walked into town, and as he drew himself nearer to her street, he could not help but feel sadness in the way he'd left things. As he walked up the hill facing her street, he was surprised to see her standing there!

Right when she saw him, she came to him. The two of them just stood there for the longest time, not knowing what to say. She just looked up at him and smiled. Placing one hand on his face, she realized how cold it was. He looked down at her with heavy eyes, wondering what would happen. But at the moment, he was just happy to be near her.
"I waited for you." She said.
He replied, "For me?"
She nodded and smiled once again sweetly.
Robert asked, "For how long?"
Carmen answered him, "Does it matter? I am sorry. But I must tell you I did not expect you to do what you did. Why did you not take the jewels and leave?"
She waited in the stillness for his reply, and then he said, "The jewels, were not what I was after. Yes, they could have helped me, but...they're not what I wanted."
Moving in closer to him she whispered, "What do you want?"
He didn't say a word, but the both of them just leaned in slowly.

Wrapping his arms around her gently, she excepted them fully, leaning upwards into his kiss. Her lips were so warm to him, as he pulled her closer feeling that heat and connection again, the same as before when they danced. And for once, what seemed like an eternity to him, he felt warmth, and an undescribable comfort while her arms were wrapped around him. When they pulled away finally, she touched her lips slightly and said, "You're so cold." Then she smiled.
