Home, sweet home
A/N I've just finished rereading this chap. Want I need..sleep. Ayway, a million worth of thanks to my reviewers.
Chapter 7
Home, sweet home
If I have to describe how I am feeling at the moment – it would be “mind blowing panic”.
‘OK… breathe in, breathe out. Not working. Marcus’ smiling face... Still, not working! Calm down heart, clear out mind, even if I am going to die, I’ve already reached my fulfillment, because He cares.
Besides, uncle is with me, it can’t be that bad.’ At least, that is what I think, but well…
The front door is wide open, and dear father of mine is waiting for me in the back of the hall. I must be in some surreal dream – the prime minister himself hasn’t been granted such an honor.
Now is a perfect time to escape. I going to slowly turn around and start running. So: ‘Jack, please, be good and let go of my arm.’
Either uncle is ignoring my mental message, or I am not capable of sending one. Probably the later, as I have never been successful in this delicate art before.
Let’s try again: ‘Jack, let go of my arm.’ Again. And again. And again. And again. And again. ‘Jack, let me go, please!’
Yes! I am victorious! Wait, why is he bowing? And how come, dear father of mine is only a meter away??
“Good afternoon, Mr. Leiloa.” – A polite greeting from my uncle.
However, the head of Leiloa family is ignoring Jack Morrison. He is looking, yes looking! directly at me. How long has it been? 10 years? Now, this is something that calls for a celebration.
“Good afternoon, father.” My voice a little …no, way too high-pitched for my liking.
“Good evening, to you too, lord Aleal. Might, I inquire there were you this beautiful night, my lordship?” I forgot how scary his stare can be. And is eye is twitching too. That is so not good. Celebration - delayed.
“I… I… I have… forgotten your advice, not to go outside the mansion, father.”
Who am I kidding; no way will he buy this! It is really a pity, but I am not good at lying. Especially in stressful situations like this one…
…Professor Ledar is probably fired too. It was really selfish and stupid to run away…
“Is that so, Aleal-sama? And is your old humble father allowed to know, what made you forget his advice?”
Daddy is even more angry. Think! What to say… ‘I went to see Marcus, a perfect Marcus, whom –not me, but HIM, father - you should worship – and better from afar, because he is too great, and too cool …and he is so beautiful… that is handsome…and he gave me his jacket… and...’It doesn’t sound right. But what to say???
Think!
“I…I...I… Ice-cream! …Yes, ice-cream. I wanted to have a serving of ice-cream in the ice-house!”
Was that me? I could sing at the opera. And I could sing a female part too.
“Oh? I am to believe, you’ve forgotten that you shouldn’t eat such lowly foods? Moreover, am I to assume, that there was no ice-cream in my home!? Also, question still remains where did young light of Leiloa got money ?!”
The last question is asked so loud, it borders with shouting. Father is not angry, he is fuming! And I am actually trembling.
“I am the one, who treated Aleal-sama, Mr. Leiloa.” Jack interrupts.
Has he a death wish of something?
“This conversation is between me and my spiritual leader! I am going to have a conversation to you tomorrow. Now, leave before I call the guards Morrison!”
Now, if father glared at me like that, I am sure I would be just a handful of dust. At this moment, I am really really happy, that I am treated with adoration - anything to avoid that look.
Jack, however, seems unaffected, well, almost unaffected. Uncle stands silent for a minute pondering something – as if is really possible to clearly think then being glared like that – and finally replies:
“I’ll leave, sir. But, I beg you, remember, that Aleal is also your son, Mr. Leiloa. Now, if that is too much for you, then, at least, have in mind that he is having a fever and stress can be fatal to his health. Lad… Aleal- sama is really fragile and… ”
“Don’t tell me how to treat my light of Leiloa, Morrison!” – ‘daddy’ is shouting and Jack is finally beginning to understand that he is dealing with a maniac. Quickly, uncle bows and leaves.
Wise decision, but I am a goner, anyway. Or, maybe, not. Because, it seems that as soon as Jack left, dad has experienced a serious attitude change. He looks almost happy! Not, angry, at least. And that no-looking-into-the-eyes thing is back.
“… Forgive me for the outburst, lord Aleal. I just couldn’t stand seeing that man tainting your light more, than it is already … his harmful influence, corrupting you … trying to steal you from me…us … I am sorry again Aleal-sama. Now, please, take his disgusting jacket off. I’ll have someone return it to Morrison, first thing tomorrow morning.”
My head is shaking – a silent tirade of ‘no no…no’. My fingers claw soft leather with a death grip. Father looks furious and annoyed and scary and…he …he is tearing Marcus away from me…
‘Why are you trying to tear my heart out, daddy?’
Silent rain falls from my eyes. My will is bend or broken. I know not, care not.
Father looks calm and satisfied again, I notice. He won this battle and he knows it.
“Now, as all the… interferences… have been eliminated, there is no need to stand in the hall, anymore Aleal-sama. Let’s continue this conversation in my office, shall we, my lordship?”
Even, the sarcastic mode has turned off. Somehow, I manage force a nod and follow him. My movements are mechanic. They belong not to human, only to a doll ….or a robot. They belong to someone without a free will.
…To a slave.
---
“…..The power of darkness is mighty. We underestimated it, but fear not my lord - your light is strong and pure. It will cast the shadows away. Still, I must insist that you spend at least two weeks in purification room. So that to clear all doubts away. Oh, and you can be sure, that no one will disturb you this time, Aleal-sama. I also, believe that there is no need to continue your studies, my lord. And you shouldn’t involve yourself in other unnecessary activities either, Aleal-sama. Finally, from no you’ll only be communicating with highest priests of Leiloa – we don’t need an incident like this one with Morrison. Oh, and….”
Father is speaking, but I haven’t heard a single world he said. He was probably telling that I have to go to purification room, anyway. Nothing is new there.
The first think I heard when father has opened office door was: “While you were out for an ice cream I’ve strengthened the security of mansion, my lord. As the initiation nears shadows threaten to steal the light of Leiloa (‘that would be me’) so I had the cameras installed and hired security to guard the wall, also…”
With these words the hope faded away. And so did my attention.
So, now, I am numb. Hot, dizzy and numb - I’ve been in this state since the tears have dried away. Purging sounds almost appealing. To clean this body, body that Marcus tried to shoo away … Marcus is sun, but he is warm and comforting and refreshing … Marcus is water? No, he is … What are you doing in dad’s office ,flying bear?? A Dance, but I’ve never …before. Oh, you will be dancing? No, it will make me laugh. Daddy, will be angry. It’s so hot, where am I?? Mori? ‘Mori…’ “Mori-chan!” ‘…why are you here?’ Dizzy , dizzy … sick. Marcus…
