Cautions: Nothing to worry about in this chapter, sadly, it’s very sex free. Maybe some dirty thoughts here and there, but nothing else.
Authors Notes: I like this chapter… When it seems like everything is going great, BAM! It happens. This chapter was actually done during different times. I believe it was a week before we started the second half to this, school, parents, homework…, but you will probably notice where the difference is… As for further down this chapter, on the “Ready, set, go!” We actually got that idea from an artistic friend of mine who draws our characters. He gave us that idea in a drawing and we fell in love with it. Thanks Justin for the inspiration!

Chapter 7: The Calm Before the Storm…
Joshua woke up, lifting his head up the next morning. He groaned, the note from Derek stuck to his forehead. He took it off and read it again, smiling.
The sound of the door being knocked came loud into Joshua's apartment.
Joshua looked at it for a moment and then stood, stretching as he walked over to the door, opening it.
"Hello there lovely. Ready for school? Brought your mail." Derek replied as he walked in, handing the mail to his now Boyfriend.
Joshua smiled and took it, kissing Derek lightly on the cheek as he looked at his mail. What was this? A letter from...his grandfather?!? He ripped it open quickly and skimmed through the letter. "Oh my god...” He said, speechless now.
Derek meanwhile was in the kitchen making breakfast. "Hmm?"
He looked up. "My grandfather...he...sent me a letter..." he said, not wanting to tell Derek the rest of what it said.
"Oh? That's good. What's it say?" Derek asked, sizzling could be heard coming from the kitchen.
"Ummm...nothing..." He said, crumpling up the letter and walking over to put it in the trash.
"You sure?" More sizzling from the kitchen.
He threw it in the trash can. "Ummmm...Yeah..." He changed the subject. "What're you cooking?"
Derek smiled as he put the last of his cooking on the table. "I made 6 pancakes, 12 bacons, and 6 sausages. Enjoy."
Joshua stared at it. He'd never seen so much food in his life, save the cafeteria. He took a seat, speechless.
"I hope you don't mind, I brought some of my ingredients over. You can keep them, I have plenty at home." Derek said as he put the dishes in the sink and began washing them.
Joshua took a bit of one of the pancakes, the sweet taste filling his mouth. He quickly finished it. "This…is very good...Thank you..." he said, looking at Derek, feeling like he could not satisfy his partner himself.
Derek nodded as he looked at his watch. "School starts in an hour so you still have plenty of time." He thought aloud.
Joshua nodded and finished his breakfast, delicately eating the sausage slowly.
Derek watched as Joshua slowly began eating the sausage. He gulped, trying to remove his eyes away from the images that suddenly appeared in his mind.
Joshua swallowed it, smiling up at Derek. "Something wrong?" he asked, innocently.
Derek shook his head. "Course not." He played it off calmly. "But if you continue to eat *that* slow then we are definitely going to be late."
Joshua blushed and quickly finished eating, bringing his plates to the sink and washing them. "Thank you again..." he said to Derek. He started drying the dishes, his mind off thinking about the letter.
Derek smiled. "No problem. I'll be sleeping on your bed, wake me up when you’re ready." Derek mumbled as he made his way to the miniature bed.
Joshua nodded, watching him go as he finished drying. He sat down at the table, thinking about the letter.
~*~ 30Minutes later ~*~
Derek yawned as he turned over in the bed. Not only was it small, but it was hardly comfortable! Like sleeping on the floor...
Joshua got up, walking over to his bed and watching Derek sleeping for a few moments. He then tapped his shoulder gently. "Derek? Derek?"
Derek raised his arms above his head and stretched, his shirt rising up above the school uniform. "You ready?" He mumbled, sleep evident in his voice.
"Yes. Let's go, love." he said softly, rather worried about the letter by now.
Derek jumped off the bed and fixed himself up, his hair still in that kind of 'I just had mad hot sex' hair style, not really caring much. He began walking out of the door, waiting for the other.
Joshua followed him, smiling. He locked the apartment's door behind him and then led the way down the stairs. "I'll make you a spare key later today...” he mused.
"Oh, thank you." Derek murmured as he looked both ways before crossing the street to the high school.
"It's the least I can do....." he replied, the two walking side-by-side. Joshua smiled as he crossed the street with the man, the morning light casting off of his soft silver locks. He glanced at Derek for a moment as they continued to walk, smiling up at him with his hazel eyes glistening as a sun ray caught his eyes.
Dereks breath caught in his throat as his pitch dark eyes met with those beautiful hazel eyes. Oh F*ck... He quickly turned his head away as he flushed lightly. With the sun at this angle, one more look like that and he would have to molest the poor boy. Shaking his head, he tried to focus on a different topic. "So... Did you sleep good last night?"
Joshua nodded, feeling well rested. "Very well. You?" he asked lightly, keeping his eyes on him as he did.
Derek looked down; his dreams had replayed the same nightmare he had had for years. "I …slept great." He lied. As if he could really tell the innocent boy of such dreams…
Joshua smiled and looked at the sidewalk as his white sneakers touched the pavement with each step. Because Derek was so much taller than him, two large steps of his made one of Derek's normal steps. "That's good," he murmured softly as they continued on.
Derek coughed lightly as he suddenly sneezed, his left hand sneakily wrapping itself around Joshua’s hip quite firmly. He pretended to sniffle a few times.
Joshua looked up and then reached into his jeans pocket for a handkerchief. Upon finding one, he handed it to Derek gently. "Bless you," he said lightly, not having noticed where Derek's hand was. Joshua smiled up at Derek for another ten seconds before looking down at his white sneakers. They had black laces on them, though you could not see much of this, as his pants covered the tops of his sneakers. He had come accustom to wearing girls' pants, liking the way they snuggly hugged his hips rather than wearing the baggy variety that were offered in men’s' jeans. They snuggly hugged his buttocks and stayed close to his skin until reaching the bottom part of the leg of his pants. He wore a red striped t-shirt to go with this, the clothing fitting his young age. He continued to walk with Derek, the school not ten yards away from them now.
Derek smirked as he took the Handkerchief, his arm still around Joshua. "Why, thank you." Inside his mind he was practically laughing at the naive boy. He wore what he usually wore. A skin tight black funnel shirt, which strangely, had no sleeves on them. And of course, his loose baggy black pants which had three belts on them, firmly showing off his very nice ass. Just about getting to the school, he suddenly noticed just how short Joshua was.
Joshua glanced up at him and then at the stairs to their school's entrance. He suddenly noticed that Derek's arm had been gripping his waist during that time and looked up at him, a somewhat shocked expression on his face. "Don't you not want your fellow classmates to see you with me like this? They all think so highly of you, they don't care for me much. I don't want my being here to spoil your reputation...." he murmured softly in a whisper.
Derek shrugged, his hand gripping the others hip tighter. "You’re kidding, right? I could care less for what these fan people think. They're all the same anyways. Just stalkers who want to get with the hottest guy in school." He shook his head. "Crazy fan people. You never know when they're ready to just jump out and attack you." He murmured darkly in a gloomy expression.
Joshua smiled weakly, not fully convinced. "Umm...okay. If it doesn't bother you...." he looked down shyly, suddenly very self-conscious, feeling like he wasn't good to even be in Derek's presence.
Derek looked down at Joshua. "Hey. Don't be getting all shy now. Come on, cheer up. What's there to get sad about? It's a nice day out." He said, trying to get Joshua happy. Releasing Joshua, he went to open the school doors.
Joshua looked up at him and gave a genuine smile, for now deciding in his mind that Derek truly didn't mind being around Joshua in public. He followed him up the steps. "I'm sorry for being sad I just....don't want to be the cause of people at school not liking you as much as they already do. May I beg for you forgiveness?" he teased lightly, sticking out his small pink tongue, cocking his head to the side and closing his eyes lightly.
Derek half smiled and shook his head with a sigh. "Just get your ass in school before we're late." He murmured with a roll of his eyes. Sometimes Joshua was such a tease… it almost seemed like his patience was constantly tested…
Joshua giggled lightly like the small boy he was and quickly walked into the building, turning back to watch the one who at first had seemed like an enemy and become the person most dear to him walk in as well.
As Derek followed the boy to his class, he watched how Joshua’s nicely framed ass moved in his pants. "Very nice..." He murmured quietly, unable to stop himself.
Joshua turned his head back. "Huh?" he said in his usual tone. He stuffed his thumbs in his back pockets, his back still to Derek but face turned to the side so he could look at him.
Derek eyes slowly traced up Joshua’s figure to his face. "Hm? I didn't say anything." He murmured, his hands going into his pockets.
Joshua smiled lightly. "Come ooooon..." he groaned. “We're gonna be late...." he began walking again, giving the occasional glance back at his lover.
Derek rolled his eyes. "I'm slow? I could get there way faster then you could and you’re calling me slow?" He shook his head with a sigh.
"I didn't call you slow, but if you want me to I will," he teased, walking a bit faster as he knew that Derek could get there a lot faster than him.
"Don't pick a race you can't win. Besides, we're almost there." He murmured as he continued walking the same pace.
Joshua smirked and stopped. "Wanna race?!" he asked, an eager expression on his face.
Derek looked at Joshua with a blank look. Did he just hear a single word he had said? "No." He answered plainly. If he had wanted to race, he would have suggested it. But did he? No. Which meant he didn’t want to race.
"Great!" he said, an excited expression spreading across his face. "Ready? Set? Go!" He started running ahead toward the classroom, giggling like a school girl the whole way.
Derek continued to look at the running figure with a blank face. With a sigh and a shake of his head, he began walking at his same slow pace towards the left hall. A shortcut to the class was only around the corner of the left hall...
Joshua kept running, knowing that the turn for his class would be coming up soon. The next left? No. No. The second left? Yeah! That one! He turned and finally reached the door to his classroom.
Derek was leaning against the wall next to the door of their shared classroom. A black tennis shoe was propped up against the wall and he had his arms crossed. As he heard the sound of footsteps, he turned his head to look at Joshua. "It's about time you got here."
Joshua stared at him wide-eyed, stopping and panting heavily. "How'd you-when'd you....your good...." Joshua finally said as he straightened up and looked at him, beads of sweat on his forehead and an admiring smile on his face.
Derek rolled his eyes with a shake of his head. "You went the wrong way dumbass. Now come on, get in class before we're lat-" The school bell suddenly went off stating that everyone who was not sitting in class already was late. "Shit..."
Joshua smiled weakly and grabbed Derek's hand, pulling him along with himself into the classroom. The sensei came up to Joshua, knowing him better than Derek, and scolded him for being late, saying things like it was disrespectful and irresponsible for him to show up late and he would never succeed in life if he continued to fail. The sensei added a cruel comment toward the end of his lecture, saying that someone in Joshua's position could not afford to fail, as he was barely worth enough to be able to pay the tuition for school. Joshua looked to his feet sheepishly, offended by his sensei’s words.
Derek wrapped his arm around Joshua, taking a step forward. "Excuse me Sensei, but this young man was actually showing me around the school. I'm new here and don't exactly know where I'm going so I apologize for the inconvenience and disruption we have caused the beginning of class." He handed the teacher a nicely framed folder that he pulled out from inside his shirt. "My resume' and all my information from my last schools should be there." He murmured as he quickly ushered the poor boy to obtain a seat before the teacher said anymore rude things.
Joshua quickly sat in the seat he'd been assigned since the beginning of school. It was in the far back, but he liked it because he was near the window and could admire the cherry blossoms when they were in bloom and just look outside and forget about his problems, just daydreaming. The teacher nodded and suggested Derek take the seat in the very front, though there was an empty one behind Joshua and next to him on his right.
"Ah, is it possible if I could take a seat near the window? I tend to get a bit woozy if I don't have sun or much air." He asked politely, not really wanting to get the teacher even more pissed off then she was with Joshua. Though, he actually just wanted a seat next to Joshua, without the teacher thinking it was a scheme to do something bad.
The teacher nodded; already quite flattered by the fact that Derek was not only very handsome, yet very polite as well. Joshua was already glancing out the window, his cheek resting in his open palm and elbow leaning on the desk.
He nodded with a fake smile and made his way to the back of the class, his seat now behind Joshua. As soon as he sat down, he was lowly murmuring curses and death towards the teacher. "Even if you’re a teacher, one has no right to say that to you..." He murmured darkly.
Joshua turned his head toward him, coming back to the world. "What's the matter?" he asked lightly. "Joshua! Turn around and pay attention!" the sensei bellowed. Joshua quickly turned around, having jumped slightly in fear. "Yes sensei, sorry sensei," he murmured softly.
Derek glared out the window. "Don't turn around as I talk. It's just the teacher is just an asshole to you. Have you always received such disrespect?" He whispered to the boy in front of him.
"I've never really...noticed it...until you brought it up just now....sensei's just got mad because I was late....he treats everyone like that..." he murmured as a girl in their class showed up at the door, late as well. "Sorry sensei, woke up late," "That's alright Annabel, just try not to let it happen again, okay?" he asked, smiling at her. Joshua watched this, not seeing how he had been treated differently.
Derek's glare hardened at such opposite treatment. "Why does everyone treat you like shit? That's such Bullshit... What makes you any different then any other person here?" He whispered angrily.
"I do not get treated like shit by everyone!" Joshua whispered loudly, emphasizing on the not. He looked around the class, trying to see if he was in fact treated differently. A girl who had been gazing at Derek admiringly from afar turned in disgust as she saw Joshua looking. Joshua frowned and put his head down, realizing that what Derek had said was true.
Derek shook his head as he continued to look out the window, ignoring the happenings of what the teacher was teaching. "Don't worry. When they see you hanging with me, they won't dare even glare at you harshly. And if they do... I'll kill them." The thought of killing some idiotic fan girls brought a smirk to his face,
Joshua smiled lightly, lifting his head up. He leaned back, pretending to be cracking his back, and mouthed the words, "I love you'" to Derek before sitting back up, knowing Derek wouldn't dare return the words, in public like this. If Yoru were to come out...that would definitely not be good.
Derek shook his head as he lightly smacked the boy in the head. "Yea, yea. I know." He murmured as he looked out the window, glancing at the P.E students from below...

"Sorry sensei, woke up late," "That's alright Annabel, just try not to let it happen again, okay?" he asked, smiling at her. Joshua watched this, not seeing how he had been treated differently.
