The Life of Ellie-Fay
The Life of Ellie-Fay
There once was a teenage girl
Whose name was Ellie-Fay
All she’d do in class was curl
Much to her prof’s dismay
She’s curl her lashes blackest black
Her hair in cascading rings
She never thought in brains she’d lack
The ability to do some things
Curling was fine for time in class
But once that class was over
She found herself flat on her ass
In a field of sweet clover
She realized that she knew nothing about
The ways that the world works
The ability to tell a pike from trout
Was not one of her lively perks
And so she set out just to see
If she could truly learn
The relationship between bird and bee
Until then she would not return
Walking over field and road
She set out upon her quest
Her feet she felt just might explode
But she tried to do her best
Ellie walked along for many hours
Upon that blackened top
Then she saw a bed of flowers
Finally she had to stop
‘This is stupid,’ she cried aloud
To no one in her view
‘I’m going back home now,’ she vowed
Yelling until her face was blue
Finally she reached her precious dorm
After walking through the rain
Her hair limp from the storm
She’d have to curl again
