Chapter 7
Novus quickly slinked into the shadows, but the effort was most likely futile when dealing with other creatures of the night. He kept behind Blaine, still licking at his own lips as he peeked around Blaine's side to try to get a better look at the newcomer. Novus's eyes reflected what little light there was in the dark, just like cat's eyes.
Blaine had to do a double take. "S... Spike?" He knees shook slightly. Here stood Blaine's exact double, alike in every appearance, yet complete opposites in morals and personalities. Blaine was the compassionate one. Spike was the ruthless killer. Blaine killed to live. Spike killed to simply kill. None surpassed Spike in his torture methods. None surpassed him in his body count. None surpassed him in his Slayer count. Over his 900 years, Spike had taken out 10 of the world's vampire Slayers. A feat unmatched in all of history. Spike knew no love, save for his lust for the flesh. But he had his own little vampire woman for that.
Spike swayed forward, much like a lion on the prowl. "Bet you're wondering what I'm doing here..." He looks down at Novus. "I came for ... various reasons." He looked at Novus with a hungry glint in his eyes. Blaine stiffened and pushed Novus farther behind him.
Even though this wasn't the proper time, Novus couldn't help from grinning. "Spike huh....that's a dog's name," he pointed out, the smart-ass side of his personality surfacing again. He peeked around Blaine's other side, glaring at Spike. The whites of his eyes had gone black.
~Novus... Not the type you want to piss off~ Blaine shifted further in front of Novus. "Aww... How cute. How you protect your pet. Since that is what he is..." Spike said. He smiled maliciously at Novus. "I bet you taste real good, pet. Or so I heard from Garet. The things I could do to you would make that seem like sex..." He growled and his fangs slowly came out. They were as long, if not a hair longer than Blaine's. His eyes changed as well. Not to the normal, vampiric like cat slits, but to a blood red. The whites of his eyes even obtained this color. His black pupils changed to yellow and then became slits. Blaine growled. His eyes also changed, but only to the blood red color. It was one of the traits the brothers shared in common. A fight, at this point, was inevitable.
Novus growled lowly at being threatened. Suddenly it got darker in the alley way, so dark it was pitch-black. This darkness began constricting upon one certain point: Spike's heart. The darkness concentrated on this point, putting greater and greater pressure on the precious organ. At the same time those psychic tendrils and touches were sent out by Novus. They gently brushed by Blaine's arms and face, but once they were past, they lashed out at Spike like many razor-sharp clawed hands.
Novus stood in his spot behind Blaine all the while, eyes now completely black and all his teeth were pointed and sharp, bared in a malicious grin.
Blaine shook and hung his head. The reason why became clear in a few seconds when Spike's laughter started up. "It tickles... Feels good; keep doing it, kid." Blaine sighed. "Novus... He sold his own heart several years ago. There's few ways to kill him. And one of the ways that you might try now would kill me too." Spike giggled in evil delight "Mmhm. He's absolutely right. I don't have a bloody heart. I guess... I guess I could be the cowardly lion... Nah. Too wimpy."
Novus cut off his attacks as soon as it was pointed out to him it wasn't accomplishing anything at all. ~Is he going to hurt us??~ Novus asked Blaine, making sure his thoughts were only beig sent to him. He kept hidden behind Blaine, almost hiding in the back of Blaine's coat.
Almost in reply, Spike growled shortly making a biting motion at the both of them. Blaine knew what this meant. ~No little one, he won't hurt us. He has better things to do right now.~
Just as Blaine finished speaking with Novus, Spike turned on heel. "Remember, brother, where I walk, I own." With that, he disappeared into the shadows. Blaine stood still for a minute, Spike's words sinking in. He then sighed in relief and turned to face Novus. "We need to get to the Prince, little one, and now. He'll be grateful at knowing Spike's around." He sighed again, about to say more. "Novus, Spike doesn't only kill humans... He's killed countless incubi. He's one of the reasons that the incubi and diabolizer races are dying out. Were it not for him, .... Well, your turning would have gone much smoother."
If Novus had cat ears, they would have been laying flat against his head. He looked up at Blaine as he talked, the whites of his eyes were still black. "Alright, let's hurry then..." he said. Novus hadn't heard a whole lot about this Prince, but from what Blaine had said, the Prince seemed more like a friend than an enemy. Novus trusted Blaine, because there was no one else he could trust.
Novus took Blaine's hand in his, and kept close to him.
Blaine took his hand from Novus's and slung it around his shoulders. He didn't know why he did it exactly, but he had a feeling that by slinging his arm around the little one's shoulders, Novus would be, and more than likely feel, much safer. Blaine quickly led Novus along the maze of dark alleys and within a few minutes was standing outside of the Prince's lodgings. Blaine dropped his arm from Novus and turned to look at him. "You need to know this before we go in, little one. The Prince can be a very formal man. He is a Diabolizer and very powerful. If he attempts to read into your mind you let him." Blaine put heavy emphasis on those last three words. "Resistance to the Prince only brings about torture, as Garet has probably already recieved. Also, when the Prince is in the room, you kneel immediately, face down to the floor, until he requests that you stand again. You always wait for him to be seated before seating yourself. When he stands up, you stand up. Only answer him if he directly asks you a question, and always answer him with a 'my lord' or 'my prince.' Seeing as how you're half vampire now, he rules over you, and you'd do quite well to never forget it. This Prince has been on the throne for a very long time, and for very good reason. He didn't get there by killing. He got there out of respect." Blaine sighed and decided he'd said enough. He looked back at the doors of the place. "So... Are you ready to face our Prince, little one?"
Novus blinked. He would be hard-pressed to remember exactly everything Blaine had said....but he would try his best. He took a minute to go over everything Blaine had said in his mind, then nodded. His eyes were back to normal by now, even though he was getting really nervous. "Yes, I'm ready...." he said, but his voice didn't sound so confident.
Blaine felt Novus's discomfort and bent down to kiss his cheek and briefly wrap his arms around the little one. "You'll do fine.... It's a lot easier to face one of your own kind than to face something stronger than you'll ever be." Blaine decided to leave it off at that. Pride kept him from showing his fears, yet there were things within Blaine's mind that kept him from reliving past occurences. He pulled back up and gently took Novus by the hand. He led Novus into the building and looked around, expecting to see someone that would take them to the Prince.
The entrance hall was dark, except for a couple shafts of moonlight that streamed in from the narrow windows. Laepheus stepped out from the deep shadows with such predatory grace it was as if he had been born from shadows. "Good evening, Ser Blaine," he greeted, and only offered a nod to Novus. "The Prince is quite eager to see you two. Right this way..." Lae said, and was off down one of the hallways. It always seemed like whoever was leading visitors to the Prince, they always took a different route through the expansive house.
Blaine sighed and glanced at Novus before following Laepheus down the hall. He never much cared for the shows of grace among vampires. It reminded him much of a pissing contest between humans. Never the less, the Prince was much needed to be talked to and heard from, so Blaine shoved away his morals and frustrations and willingly followed Lae, occasionally checking behind him to make sure Novus was still there and ok.
Lae smiled to himself, but did not actually turn and say anything to Blaine. Blaine, who was still not that good at concealing his loud thoughts.
Novus kept close to Blaine's side, his petite hand finding Blaine's. He could feel the Prince's dark, powerful aura more and more as they neared his chambers. Novus closed his eyes as it washed over him, touching, sensing, measuring his worth as another one of the Prince's kind.
Lae brought them to the Prince's chambers after many twists and turns, and downwards staircases. The doors opened before Lae without him laying a cold hand against them. The Prince was sitting up, head cocked slightly and deep, completely red eyes focused intently. Quite different from his usual reclined, relaxed aloofness. Tonight his long silken robes were black, with delicate celtic-like designs embroidered in gold along the hems. His skin seemed whiter than marble by contrast. He was a cold, "living" statue, and wasn't even breathing as he studied Blaine and Novus as they entered the room.
Blaine walked the both of them two steps into the room and dropped to one knee immediately, not even prompting Novus to do the same. He bared the back of his neck as best he could "My Prince... You are looking healthy this night." Blaine shut off all communications with Novus just in case. He wanted the little one to prove his worth to the Prince all on his own.
Novus just stood there, beside Blaine's bowing form. The Prince's eyes were locked on Novus's wide-open blue ones. Then Novus took a step forward, then another, and another until he stood right in front of the Prince. The Prince reached out and lightly touched Novus's perfect, young face.
".....Blaine," the Prince finally spoke after what seemed like an eternity. "I have a proposition for you."
Blaine looked up and felt his heart catch in his throat. A thousand "what if's" began to tumble through his mind, despite his best to shut them out. The feelings and thoughts became so strong in him that he had to turn his face downwards again. "Yes, my lord. Name your desires." Blaine had a feeling this had to do with his little one and he had the hardest time holding his tears back.
"This one is well Turned, and I congratulate you on that," the Prince began. "He is young and quite powerful, but does not know how to properly use his full range of gifts yet. Like shadow phasing. He does not know how. This is a great danger to him," the Prince explained, voice light as bells but with serious undertones. Shadow phasing was a very important skill incubi(and Diabolizers) needed, for it allowed them to dissappear and travel through shadows. This made it easier to enter houses and other places without any noise, and allowed them to escape most threats, for vampires and hunters could not shadow phase. "As such, I desire to keep him with me and teach him the foundations of the skills and talents he needs. But do not worry..."he told Blaine, looking at him from around the still, slender form of Novus. "I will not be taking him from you quite yet, and he will be returned to you in due time. When he is with me though, I am going to give you Akuji, the incubi that occupied your house earlier..." the Prince said and couldn't help but grin slightly. "And I want you to Turn him, make him a Diabolizer for me. I would have tried it myself, but I have tried countless times already, and failed each. They can't handle my power, and they die. I want to see if you can succeed with Akuji like you have with Novus. Understand?"
Blaine fought inner battles with himself. He knew better than to deny the Prince though. "As you wish, my Prince," Blaine replied after a few moments, keeping his face downcast in a last ditch, vain attempt to conceal his emotions from the already well aware Prince. He was beyond angry. He felt betrayed. He felt like breaking down right there. Right in front of the Prince. Novus was his weakness. His only one. Blaine was known for being a solitary vampire, extremely cunning, completely aware of everything, and was once a ruthless killer, feared and respected. Blaine had made it through the times that tried a vampire. He'd fought Slayers and lived. He'd fought the demons that preyed upon vampires. He'd battled against witches. He'd seen most things in his 900+ years of life that most other vampires could only dream about. Blaine did not break easily. But ever since Novus came into his life, Blaine stopped taking risks. Blaine had almost completely shed himself of his former life in order to be a man that Novus would love. Now, he felt as if it was falling from his grasp. He'd taken a serious risk by bringing an incubus into his home. He could've been killed. Even worse, Novus could have been killed. Maybe it was for the best, though, Blaine thought. With the Prince, Novus could become quite accomplished. He still couldn't shed his selfishness at wanting Novus all to himself though, despite the fact that he was going to be given a full grown incubus in the meantime.
The Prince was silent for a long moment, red eyes studying Blaine from beneath long, golden eyelashes. "Return here in three days time," he finally spoke. One of his slender hands lightly pushed at Novus, sending him walking back towards Blaine. Novus returned to Blaine's side, still a bit hypnotized.
"And," the Prince continued, "when would you like to visit Garet, hm......?"
Blaine forgot his manners and everything else except for a blinding rage at the sound of Garet's name. He looked up at the Prince, his eyes burning. His teeth had lengthened and a low growl emitted from deep within his chest. "If you are finished with him, I'd take him with me. The torture I have planned for him could take weeks..." This was Blaine's more dangerous side. The monster he was before Novus came into his life.
The Prince smiled broadly. All of his teeth were sharp, and he did carry impressive, very mature canines. "You may take him home. He is too weak to resist you or fight back," he told Blaine, voice sounding content. Novus had more or less returned back to normal, and his hair stood on end at the mention of Garet. His eyes turned black, and he trembled with anger and anticipation as he absorbed Blaine's emotions like a sponge.
Blaine growled and nodded shortly at the Prince before standing again. Out of pure respect and complete trust the Prince, Blaine leaned his head back slightly to reveal his throat then looked squarely at the Diabolizer he would follow to the end of humanity and beyond. "I give you my many thanks, my Prince. These past few days, you have saved the skin off of my back. If there is anything I can do at any time to repay the deeds you have bestowed upon me, just let me know. I will gladly do anything that you wish, my lord." Blaine had no idea what he was setting himself up for. Who knew how many times that had been said to the Prince? Who knew what happened afterwards? But Blaine was confident the Prince would not kill him, or harm him. Blaine was, apparently, too valuable as a vampire, fully able to turn incubi with out harm or incident.
The Prince's eyes shifted over to look at one of the many exits from this room. The doors opened and two gaurds entered carrying Garet, who had his ankles and wrists bound. Novus looked over at Garet and hissed a little. The Prince hardly ever showed any extreme emotion, but he did appear to be a bit delighted at the prospect of Garet's torture, even though he wasn't the one who'd be administering it.
Blaine looked over at Garet and a shadow passed over his eyes. He growled deeply and moved over to relieve the guards of their burden. Blaine tested the mind of the younger vampire to see if he had been temporarily cracked just yet. If he wasn't, Blaine would delight in any excuse to hurt him on their way back. If not... Well, Blaine had quite a lot of pent up emotions at the moment. Blaine Seized Garet's upper right arm and his face immediately contorted in disgust. "Filth..." he muttered under his breath. He turned back to the Prince. "May we take our leave of you this night, my lord?" Blaine bowed his head when he spoke the last two words.
The Prince grinned slightly, and leaned back to recline as he usually did. "You may. However, remember to return here with your Novus in three nights," he reminded Blaine, casting a glance at Novus. Novus raised his eyebrows a little and blinked. To leave Blaine's side so soon, and who knows for how long...because the Prince had never specified how long it would be. Novus was looking forward to giving Garet what he deserved though. It would be doubly nice, for Blaine would be there with him.
"I will, my lord. My thanks to you." Blaine bowed deeply and shifted his grip to the base of Garet's skull and roughly pulled him along as he made to leave the way he had come, never doubting that Novus would be along right behind him. Blaine was pissed, but he did his best to conceal it. Being parted from his beloved, carrying along the filth that had almost killed Novus (and who had also orchestrated the attack on his first love), and being put through his motions in order to please the Prince when all he had to do was just show up with Novus in the first place was enough to completely set him off. He planned on taking out all of his rages on Garet as soon as they left the building.
Novus kept up, walking right behind Blaine and Garet. He studied Garet as they walked. The man did seem like he'd had a very hard time, which made Novus curious as to what the Prince had done to him. Garet was very weak, but still an older vampire. Novus wanted Garet's power for himself...Novus hoped Blaine wouldn't actually kill Garet so that he could have whatever was left of his soul.
Blaine made his way outside of the building. Once clear of the doors, Blaine, only using the hand that was still fixed to the base of Garet's skull, flung the weaker vampire a good 20 ft away at a wall. Blaine was quite pleased with himself when he heard Garet grunt in pain and the thud of a body against a wall at a very high speed. Blaine then walked over to Garet and roughly brought him to his feet. "Get the fuck up. I'm not carrying your filth all the way home." Blaine was obviously still very pissed.
Novus stood still, watching Blaine and Garet with caution, and interest. ~Blaine, please don't kill him, I want his soul after your done with him...~ Novus said, for Blaine's mind alone.
Blaine growled. ~I didn't plan on it, little one. I want to make him bleed for awhile, then he's yours. Three days to torture him... Then I want him gone, before you go to the .... Prince.~ He said the last in Novus's mind, stressing the word as though he suddenly detested it. He wanted longer. As it stood now, Blaine could probably lock Garet in a room right now with shards of the day's sun drifting in through the blinds. It wouldn't be enough to kill Garet, But it would certaintly hurt him.
Garet, at this point, was scared out of his mind. He knew what was coming. He knew that he'd be starved, tortured, and would have the remaining half of his soul torn out by the young diabolizer. It wasn't Novus he feared at this point in time. Blaine had a well earned reputation for holding and nurturing grudges. The last time a vampire had wronged Blaine... Well, let's just say Garet had been good friends with this vampire. The last time he heard from him was one night a year ago. Then he suddenly had disappeared, much like the rest of the little gang Garet had gotten together to tear Blaine's human lover apart.
Novus strode over to Blaine and Garet at a quick place that was blurred by the supernatural speed. "Can I help torture him??" Novus asked allowed, so Garet could hear as well. "I want to help. After what he did to me...."his voice trailed off. His ice-blue eyes went hard, taking on a fierce, awfully cold look. He leaned into Blaine's side, but kept his attention focused on Garet, like a starving wolf would on a piece of meat that lay slightly out of its grasp.
"Yes, Novus, you may help torture him." Blaine sighed and kept moving back to his home. He decided to take many shortcuts and arrived on the front lawn of his mansion within a matter of minutes. Blaine didn't stop. He kept going towards the door, shoving it open (he didn't bother to lock it. Humans would be foolish indeed to break into his house, and vampires couldn't get in without an invitation) and throwing Garet headlong across the foyer. He made sure Garet landed in the exact spot where he had left Novus to die. Blaine had cleaned the floor, but the smell of Novus's blood still remained. Blaine flicked a hand at Garet, who instinctively flinched, and chains snaked up as if they grew from the floor and chained Garet down. Garet struggled, but to no avail.
Blaine's mouth curled in an evil, malicious smile that chilled even Garet's blood. Garet knew the reason why not a second later. The chains were coated in garlic. Garet whimpered, trying to keep in his screams, but failed. His outbursts could have been heard down in the village.
Novus's eyes went wide, but he kept them locked on the suffering vampire. This terrified the "human" side of him, but his newer, darker side....caused him to shudder he felt such excitement over this event. The whites of his eyes were black again, as were his nails....and even his petite fangs had gotten slightly longer. He strode over to Garet and knelt down near him. Novus pushed the fabric of Garet's shirt up slightly to reveal Garet's lower back. Then, with his nails, Novus porceeded to deeply engrave his full name in demonic script into Garet's flesh.
Garet hissed at Novus and began speaking in a tongue totally foreign to many. Blaine knew what he was saying though. "'Many curses upon you, Diabolizer. Rot in hell. Blaine will forsake you, make you bleed.....'," Blaine translated. "It's Slavic. Well, Slavic crossed with Russian. Garet's own little made up language. He taught it to me, and should know better than to use it in my prescence."
Garet had looked up at Blaine. His pupils had grown to cover all but the outer rim of his eyes, which had turned blood red. His teeth, long and mature, but not so much as Blaine's, had shot out at the smell of Novus's blood, but remained out on instinct. He hissed at Blaine. Blaine, swift as a blur, came up and ripped Garet's top fangs out of his head. Garet roared in pain. This was the torture Garet had come to expect. However, he had never imagined that his own pride and joy, his fangs, would be ripped out of his own mouth. Blaine was cruel indeed.
Novus ignored Garet's ramblings. Blaine would never forsake him. Through all the screaming, Novus leaned down to lick and suck at the wounds he'd made in Garet's back. He bit more at it, jerking his head to the side to rip more flesh away. Novus pulled away and blood completely covered his lower face and was running down his neck. He traced patterns across Garet's exposed muscle with a fingertip, eyebrows slightly raised.
Garet began to go into convulsions from the immense pain he was undergoing. As much as Blaine wanted to continue the torture, he'd rather have him awake and sane enough to know what was happenning. He held a hand out. "Enough, little one. As strange as this sounds, let him recover for the night. I have things to do to him during the day." Garet shuddered in between convulsions. "Privately...." he added as an after thought. He looked down at the pathetic excuse for a vampire that Garet was and suddenly realized why he took to his studies so intensely as a young vampire. It was Garet that Blaine had never wanted to turn into. He despised all vampires that killed for pleasure. He despised his own brother. Blaine lived for himself and, at the moment, Novus. No body else, and nothing else, came first on his agenda. Killing for pleasure was nowhere to be seen in Blaine's mind.
Novus obeyed and took Blaine's hand and stood. Then he wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck, then his legs about Blaine's waist. "Carry me..." he said, eyes still a bit glazed from the recent activities. He kissed at Blaine eagerly with his own bloodstained mouth and arched his body against him. The ectasy of what they were doing to Garet, and the blood of the once-powerful vampire apparently tunred Novus on a great deal.
Blaine wrapped his large strong arms around Novus and held him to him as he kissed him back. He pulled away just long enough to kick the side of Garet's head. Garet fell over, limp, unconscious. He would remain that way until the day came. Blaine then returned to kissing Novus and carrying him down to his resting place. Blaine was glad that his foyer was window-less. It provided protection for him when he came home a little too close to the dawn some days, and it would prevent Garet from bursting into flames in the morning. Blaine had a trick up his sleeve though. Most vampires fall unconscious at dawn. Blaine knew a way out of it.
For now though, his attention was focused on Novus and getting him to Blaine's coffin, all the while pleasuring the little Diabolizer.
Novus giggled, watching the unconcious Garet from over Blaine's shoulder as Blaine carried him away. He didn't wait until Garet was out of sight to continue kissing at Blaine again, however. He kissed and sucked at Blaine's lower lip, making little whimper noises. Novus ground his hips up against Blaine's stomach, making it quite obvious to his master on how aroused he was.
Blaine growled and shoved his tongue into Novus's mouth, reaching as deep into his mouth as he could. Blaine, still basically trying to choke Novus with his tongue, made it to his coffin and set Novus down on his back, climbing up over top of him. Still kissing Novus, Blaine tugged at the little one's pants desperately trying to get them off.
Novus purred and growled back, sucking hard on Blaine's tongue. He helped Blaine and wiggled out of his pants. Immediately he arched his hips upwards against Blaine and wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck. ~Take me, take me...~ his mind voice begged while a low moan escaped his throat.
Blaine growled and proceeded to rip the rest of the clothes off both himself and Novus. He threw the shreds away from him. He arched his hips towards Novus's tight entrance and began to push his way inside with a low moan that was backed by a sensual growl.
Novus couldn't help the loud cry that escaped his lips. It hurt, but he didn't care. ~Yes....that's right...~ he encouraged, phantom touches reaching forth and ghosting all the way down Blaine's back and legs, then back up again.
Blaine pushed the rest of the way inside and began a slow, rhythmic bucking, all the while growling. ~God damn, little one.... ~ He sighed loudly and threw his head back. He was intoxicated by these sensations, these wonderful sensations that his lover aroused within him.
Novus's hands moved to grip the sides of the coffin to keep himself steady. A little moan would escape his lips each time Blaine pushed forward. Novus watched Blaine with half-lidded eyes. ~Your face is beautiful...~ he told his master and shuddered as waves of pleasure began moving through him. His psychic touches gathered to stroke at Blaine's lower belly and inner thighs. ~Faster, love...~
Blaine's eyes were shut. A little thing about him. He closed his eyes while feeding too. It all had to do with sensations and how strong they were. Blaine heeded Novus's demands and bucked faster, not really meaning to get any rougher, but did anyways. He growled louder, this time with his mouth open. His fangs had been out for so long they ached. The last time that Blaine had his fangs out was when the human girl he had kept as a lover was killed. His fangs didn't receed until he had killed the six vampires that actually had carried out the gruesome deed. That task alone had taken a total of two years to complete.
As Blaine picked up the pace Novus closed his eyes too and turned his head to the side. It hurt so bad, but it felt so good, Blaine driving deep into him. Novus immersed himself so deep into this drive of passion he had no trouble bucking his hips at a perfect counter-rythm to Blaine's. ~This...I am yours, only yours...~Novus told Blaine, while his moans were becoming more erratic.
Blaine finally opened his eyes to see the exposed neck laying before him. Blaine roared and sank his teeth into Novus's neck without thinking, his body tensing as he came to the warm gush of blood going down his throat. Blaine had, somewhere along the line, lost his mind, and drank with a ravenous hunger from Novus.
Novus squeaked, any cry he would've made cut short by the suddeness of the searing pain in his neck. He gasped for the oxygen he didn't even need.
Trust a vampire. What a fucking stupid idea.

Blaine had to do a double take. "S... Spike?" He knees shook slightly. Here stood Blaine's exact double, alike in every appearance, yet complete opposites in morals and personalities.
