Chapter 7
One year later and much had changed with the quartet of friends. Leo moved in with Kyle and Keith three months after Keith and Vincent’s make up. Two months later, Vincent gave up on trying to pay for his outrageous bills for his apartment and moved in too.
“Hey.” Leo said as Kyle came down the stairs and into the livingroom. Dressed in an all black velour outfit, black New York Yankees baseball cap, and clear sunglasses, he stood up from his seat on the couch and kissed his lover. “You look good, boo.”
Kyle blushed. “Thanks.” He still wasn’t used to affectionate nicknames yet. Kyle put on a caramel/dark brown cashmere rugby sweater, fitted dark blue jeans, his small silver hoop earrings, and silver thumb rings.
“You ready to go out?”
“Yeah. Oh, I forgot to tell Keith we’re going out. Hold on a minute.” Kyle ran up the stairs two at a time then walked to his cousin’s bedroom door. He knew what was and had been going on in that room since ten o’clock that morning. Now at three in the afternoon, he expected they were probably still passed out from exhaustion. He knocked. “Keith?.......Keith?”
There was rumbling of sheets then the slow sound of feet padding to the door. Keith opened the door, wrapped up in a red bed sheet, then shut it behind him, leaning back on it for support. His breathing was heavy, his chest was beading with sweat, and his face expressed an obvious fatigue. “Geez, you guys are still at it?” Kyle looked totally amazed.
Keith shook his head in perplexity. “I don’t understand it. We’ve been having sex nonstop lately. If we are not working, we’re fucking. And sometimes, he’ll pull me out the work-basement. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. Vincent is awesome in bed—“
“But.”
“But, I’m exhausted. He just will not stop.”
“Did he have this big of a libido when you first hooked up with him?”
“ No…..I don’t know. Every time we went out, it pretty much ended in sex.” Kyle raised an eyebrow. “Are you saying he had it all the time?”
“It’s a big possibility.”
“You don’t think he’s taking ‘something’, do you?”
“You mean like pills?” Kyle shrugged. “Have you checked his stuff?”
“No. I plan on it though. But not now. We have an appointment with the clinic in a few minutes, then we’re taking an hour drive to visit his parents.”
“Oh, going to visit the parents, huh? Getting serious, are we?” Kyle asked, cheesing like an idiot.
“Shut up.” Keith laughed.
“Anyway, I came up here to tell you me and Leo are going to town to hang out today.”
“Okay. See you later then.”
“Bye.” Kyle walked back down the stairs.
*I wonder if Vince will say anything if I stay out here for a minute and catch a breather or two…* “Babe?” *Guess not.*
Keith opened the bedroom door. “Coming.”
***
“Oh, how are you feeling, by the way?” Vincent asked Keith as they sat in the waiting room of the clinic. “You had a rather bad stomach spell early this morning.”
Just thinking about all the purging he did that day, made him instinctively place a hand over his stomach. “Better. I haven’t had a need to use the bathroom since then.”
“But you’ve been doing this though for over a week now. You think you’ve caught some virus?”
Keith shrugged. “Could be. One of the girls Kyle works with at the salon just got over one a few days ago. A bug may be going around.”
“And I don’t want it, so we’ll lay off the sex a bit until you’re fully better.”
His raven haired lover laughed. “We should’ve ‘laid off the sex’ after we took our AIDS test. We’re not guaranteed good results because of that, you know.”
Vince waved it off. “Oh please. I was clean before we met, you were clean before we met, and we’ve always been careful after we met.”
“Except that one time last month. You remember, we were in the bathtub together and….”
“Keith Agassi?” a female nurse with a clipboard walked through the doors that lead to the examination rooms. Keith got up and walked with the woman to a vacant room. “Okay, Mr. Agassi, have a seat on the table there and the doctor will be right with you.”
“Thanks.” With a polite smile, the woman left him alone in the room to wait, again.
***
“Wow, that was great.” Kyle sat as he sat back at his seat after devouring two giant beef burritos from a Mexican restaurant in town. “I cant eat another bite.”
A waiter came by and dropped off a bowl of fried ice-cream infront of Leo. He grabbed his spoon. “You sure? No room for dessert?”
“Not unless you want me to explode.”
Leo laughed. “Nevermind then.” He started eating.
“You know, I’m glad we got to spend this day together. We’ve been missing a lot of each other lately.”
Leo nodded in agreement. “Work has been hectic for me since the master chef had that heart surgery.”
“There aren’t any other cooks that can help?”
“Yeah. We have three other cooks working but…..”
“But…”
“A head chef must always be there to make sure things are ran properly. And since Nelson is out for a while, that just leaves me.” He scooped ice-cream up on his spoon and took another bite.
Kyle sighed. “Well, can’t you tell the restaurant owner that your adorable boyfriend misses your presence and you’d like some time off?”
Kyle’s brown eyed lover laughed. “As adorable as that boyfriend may be, with one man down—the master chef at that—there’s no way I’ll get time off.”
“Leo.” Kyle pouted.
“I’m sorry, boo, but until Nelson is back on his feet, my long hours will have to stay as they are. There’s nothing I can do about it.”
Kyle caved. “Okay. Fine. I’ll just have to deal. Well, atleast we have all of today together.” He watched as his love suddenly stopped eating his fried ice-cream and just look down at his bowl. “We DO have all of today to spend together don’t we?”
“….”
Kyle sighed, angry. “Leo, you promised me!”
Leo flinched at the sharp tone in his lover’s voice. “I know I did and we were, but….”
“But something came up, right? That’s what you always say!”
Leo looked around the restaurant quickly. “Would you quiet down, please? People are gonna stare.”
“I don’t care! I’m angry! I had a whole day planned out for us before you started back to work tomorrow!”
“And we’ll do all the things you planned……they’ll just have to be done fast and be over with by five this afternoon.”
Fed up, the young man with the raven hair and pale gray eyes jumped out of his seat. “Take me home.”
Leo frowned. “Why?”
“Because our day is ruined, I’m not in the mood to be out and about anymore, and I’m pissed.” He replied, matter-of-factly.
“But we’ve still got two hours to kill.”
“I don’t feel like killing nothing but you right now, Leo. Take me home.”
Leo sighed as he wiped his mouth with his napkin, tossed it on the table, and followed Kyle out the restaurant.

“Hello, Mr. Agassi. How are you doing today?” A man in his fifties with burgundy glasses asked Keith.
“Fine thanks. A little eager for my results, though.”
The doctor chuckled. “Well then, I’ll just cut to the chase.”
“If you’d be so kind…” Keith interrupted. He hated these days. Coming in for a AIDS test and having to wait for the results. Knowing that if he heard something he didn’t want to hear, it would change his life forever. However, Vincent was right earlier. They were clean both during and before they hooked up. Keith was pretty positive the results would come back fine. It was that one incident though in the bathtub with Vince that’s got him worried. They were both relaxing one weekend in a hot bubble bath after spending a full night partying the night away at Blue Velvet. Heavy petting –mostly from Vince—and tender kisses eventually led to Keith mounting his strapping lover in strong lovemaking, water splashing over the tub’s edge onto the floor. They were so…… ‘involved’ in the sex, neither thought about using a condom.
“Alright. You’re tests came back negative. You’re fine, Mr. Agassi.” Keith sighed in relief. “I would like to ask though, how is your pregnancy going? Having any trouble?”
Keith’s eyes grew two sizes larger. “My-my-my-my what?”
“You’re pregnancy. You didn’t know you were pregnant?”
“No!”
The doctor looked back down at his clipboard and read the name: Keith Aviv Agassi. Yes, correct name. He didn’t have someone else’s information. “Yes. It says here you are one month along.”
Keith ran his fingers through his hair, shocked. “I can’t be pregnant.”
“Have you had unprotected sex in the past month?”
“Yes. But it was only once, doc.”
“It only takes one time, son.”
The young man shook his dark head. “I can’t believe this. Are you sure?”
“Blood work can practically tell everything that’s going on in a person’s body. It’s almost like a datasheet. Blood doesn’t lie. I’m sensing you’re not quite happy with this news.”
“I don’t know.”
“You DO have options, you know. There’s adoption, abortion….”
“No way. My family doesn’t believe in abortion.”
“Well, you could always keep the baby. Become it’s ‘mother’, raise it, take care of it.”
“……”
“Do you have an idea who the father is?”
Keith sighed. “Yeah. I’ve got an idea.”
Enjoy!
