Chapter 7

Minako awoke in the morning in her own bed in her dorm with a headache that had her cringing even in the dimness of the room. She did not sleep in as most drunks did, she woke up before the sun had risen, and she woke up to see Belle sitting on her bed watching her, distinctly keeping her eyes on the roommate. Minako cringed again, hating the sight of the other girl.

“How are you feeling?” Belle asked.

“Shitty,” Minako said honestly. She began to stretch but stopped abruptly and pulled the covers tight around her, suddenly very aware of her nudeness. “Why am I naked?”

“Because you ripped your clothes off and couldn’t find the time to put any back on,” Belle said her eyes locked directly on Minako’s. “No one demeaned you; no one took advantage of you.”

“How can I be sure?” Minako asked snidely. “Despite my drunkenness last night I do remember what Nemesis told me, about why you three befriended me.”

“And it is all true,” Belle admitted.

“I didn’t know you were gay,” Minako said a little softly.

Belle laughed heartily. “Are you feeling sorry for me because I like girls?”

“Well,” Minako said, trying to regain her pride, “you are a bit of a wuss. You wouldn’t even hit me back when I struck you.”

Belle’s smirk and glare were enough to tell Minako that she was very wrong about the other girl. “Minako,” Belle said in all seriousness, “the reason I did not hit you is because I did not want to maul any of your perfect skin, at least not until it was an act of some animal attraction.”

“Sorry,” Minako said brattily, “I’m not into girls that way.”

“Too bad,” Belle laughed, “because one day you and I will end up in your bed together, tangled up in sheets, and I will have you screaming in pleasure.

Then, when I’m done with you Nemesis will fuck you, then Sage.”

“What has turned you three into such sadists?” Minako was walking through the room, the blanket tight around her, looking for clothing.

“Oh, I don’t buy that,” Belle snapped. She stood and walked towards the bathroom, a huff in her stride. “I hardly believe you will sit here and tell me you care anything about us. You’ve never asked before. The only reason you are asking questions about us now is because we are showing interest in you.”

“Well of course!” Minako screamed at the slamming bathroom door that locked Belle on one side and Minako on the other. Belle was acting like a peeved child that was not having her way and Minako nearly wanted to laugh. “You dragged me into this!” she screamed at the closed doorway. “You are the one who wanted me to be your roommate, the one who made sure to seek me out, so excuse me for being selfish and wanting answers.” Minako pushed off of her bed and went searching for her school uniform. She dressed as quickly as humanly possible before heading off to the campus and to her classes. In her huff she had left behind her violin, but she was in no mood to bring the instrument with her and go to Mr. Evans class and face him after she had met the despicable Fatima.

“Minako!” Mariko cried out happily when she saw her friend. Mariko went rushing towards her and embraced her happily. “I was worried about you. I knew they said they would treat you well, but I find it hard to trust those three.”

“I’m sorry, Mariko,” Minako said quietly. “I was very selfish last night and I made things difficult for you. I should have listened to you.”

Mariko shook her head and gave a wavering smile that wilted in the sunlight. “It’s all right,” she said quietly. Minako could see clearly that it was not. How to address an issue that she was unsure of…

“I have to run to class,” Mariko said hurriedly. “I promised my sensei that I would put in an extra effort this next week and he would help tutor me.”

“I’m glad for you,” Minako said to her retreating back. Minako did not have to be a genius to guess that Mariko, though worried for her friend, was avoiding her as well. Had Minako acted like such a fool that even her best friend did not want to be around her?

Minako entered her homeroom and sat down, the first to enter and thankful for it. She could not begin to describe her disappointment when Sage was the next one to follow her into the class. He slid into his seat and gave her a knowing smile, but seemed like he was going to play the part of nice guy and at least leave her feeling miserable with just his knowing smile. However, she should have known better. The moment her head was buried in a book with hopes of something to distract her Sage moved to sit behind her and leaned forward, his breath tickling over her shoulder. “How are you feeling?” What killed her was the sincerity with which he said it. There was no menace, no hate, no evil. It was a simple question, almost like one friend to another. She would not be fooled.

“Better, thank you,” she said blandly, but not unfriendly.

“Meet me on the roof tonight after hours,” Sage whispered to her neck.

Minako sighed. She knew very well what it was he expected from her, perhaps Belle had not told him yet that she was not a forgetful drunk. “Why?” she feigned innocence.

“So we can watch the stars.” He kissed the back of her neck and moved away from her as soon as Nemesis stepped through the doors. Minako looked up at Nemesis and felt herself turning a horrible shade of crimson. With a sigh she tried not to kick herself and just allowed the day to move along in the fashion that it would.
