Chapter 7: The Beginning of the End…
Luc ran through the cold dark night, not caring how late it was. His body shivered from the cold air around him. All he was able to throw on was a black pair of baggy jeans, accompanied by a orange skintight t-shirt. Luc didn’t even grab a jacket as he ran out into the snow-covered night.
As Luc began to get close to the school, he heard the last sound he wanted to. When he had gotten home from CJ’s, Luc’s parents asked him why the cops were looking for him. Luc looked over his shoulder to see blue and red lights flashing.
“Shit.” He muttered.
Luc ran onto the lawn of a small house. He cut through the backyard and through another house’s backyard. He ran into the middle of the street, and saw another cop car patrolling, looking for him. Luc ran through another person’s backyard, and into the woods behind it.
Luc ran through the woods, trying to find an exit. Luc’s heart sunk when he heard voices far behind him. Luc began to zigzag through the trees, trying to lose him. Luc looked backwards to see his footprints giving away his location. He shook his head, before he began to sprint through the snow.
Luc felt the bottom of his pants beginning to get weighted down from the wet snow. He tripped over his feet, and fell to the floor. Luc looked up from the snow, to see a small opening at the base if a tree. Behind the tree, Luc could see a group of cabins, but Luc would have never made it to the cabins. He got up, and quickly ran into the hollow tree.
Luc huddled in a ball, trying to keep himself warm. The snow was now falling so hard that Luc’s footprints had been covered by new snow. Luc thought he was safe, until he heard a twig crunch. He held in a whimper as he saw a couple of pairs of leg walk past the tree. He heard voices that sounded like the cops that had been helping him.
“Check the cabins.” A male voice said.
Luc heard a footsteps leading towards the cabins, then the sound of a door being kicked open. Luc could tell that the cops were searching the cabin. Then another, and then one more, leaving one un-searched cabin. Luc heard the final door being kicked open.
“Oh My God!” A female voice screamed out.
Luc heard a gun shot, then another shot ran out. He heard two bodies fall to the floor, then heard silence.
He waited in the tree for what seemed like hours. Luc finally crawled to the hole, and stuck his head out of the dieing tree, to see what happened. Luc crawled out of the opening, and stood to his feet. He could see two red stains in the snow outside one of the cabins.
Without thinking, Luc ran towards the cabin. He ran up to the door, and to his surprise, it was unlocked. Luc opened the door, and walked in. It was empty. All their was a cheap spring mattress, some objects that looked like torture devices, and a computer. Luc walked over to the computer and saw a file that read ’Click Me.’ Luc clicked the file, a bunch of pictures came up. Pictures of the murders of Luc’s friends. Luc’s eyes widened as he realized where he was. He was in EviLOnE401’s cabin.
Luc ran quickly out of the small cabin, and back into the woods. He started to run in one direction, until he reached a road. He realized the road as Whitman drive, the location of his high school. Luc ran towards his school, while hot tears fell from his eyes. The hot water fell from his cheeks, and hit the floor, melting the snow.
Luc had to hop a fence to get onto his school’s grounds. He looked up at the immense school, and ran towards the front entrance. Luc reached out, and grabbed the cold iron handles of the door. Luc slowly opened the doors, and walked into the school. His eyes scanned the large hallway he currently stood in, looking for any sign of life. Luc jumped out of his skin when he heard his phone ring. He took his phone out of his pocket, and flipped it open.
“Hello?” Luc said into the phone.
“Hi.” A smooth voice said.
“Who is this?” Luc asked.
“Look, it’s Kyle. I just wanted-” Kyle said.
“You did this!?” Luc cut of Kyle.
“What?” Kyle said.
“You killed them you bastard. Where’s Genna?” Luc yelled.
“Yo bro, I didn’t kill anyone. I was just calling to apologize for what I did to you.” Kyle said.
“Fuck you, where is she?!” Luc said.
Luc was interrupted by the intercom of the school going off.
“Luc help me!!” Genna screamed.
“What the fuck was that! Was that our intercom? Are you at our school?” Kyle asked.
“He told me to come here…” Luc said.
“Who told you to go there?” Kyle asked.
“Fuck you, you don’t care about me.” Luc said.
“Please Luc. I feel awful about what I did to you. I shouldn’t have done it. I really do want to help you. I’m coming to the school, please don’t leave the main hall.” Kyle said.
Luc heard the phone click as Kyle hung up. The tears that had disappeared once he reached the school had reappeared. Luc didn’t know what to do. He wanted to go find Genna and help her right then, but he knew he needed someone else to help him. He flipped his phone open, and dialed CJ’s number.
“Hello?” He heard CJ’s voice say.
“Help me.” Luc cried.
“What’s wrong Luc?” CJ asked.
“He has Genna at the school…” Luc said through the tears.
“Where are you.” CJ’s voice was filled with concern.
“At the school…” Luc said.
“Holy shit! I’m on my way!” CJ said.
“Kyle’s coming to the school too…” Luc whispered.
“What!? You called Kyle? Why!?” CJ yelled.
Before Luc could answer he heard a girl’s scream on the phone.
“What the fuck was that!?” Luc asked.
“That’s a movie I was watching.” CJ said.
“You sure?” Luc said, sounding unconvinced.
“What you trust Kyle more than me?” CJ asked.
“No, that’s not it at all!” Luc said.
“Yeah? Then why’d you call him?” CJ asked.
“I didn’t, he called me!” Luc said.
“Bullshit!” CJ yelled.
“You Don’t believe me?” Luc asked.
“And you don’t trust me.” CJ said.
“Yes I do.” Luc said.
When Luc didn’t hear an answer, he looked at his phone to see he lost service. Luc put his phone back in his pocket, and waited for someone, anyone to show up. Luc felt horrible about what just happened with CJ. He loved CJ more than anyone else in the world, and would give anything to have him show up at the school. Within five minutes Kyle ran up to the door, and Luc opened it for him.
“Luc…” Kyle said.
“I don’t want to talk to you…” Luc said.
“Yes you do. And I want to talk to you too.” Kyle said.
“Fuck off, I just want to find Genna.” Luc said.
“I’ll help you look for her.” Kyle said.
“Why are you doing this?” Luc asked.
“Because I’m really sorry about what I did, and I care about you.” Kyle said.
“What!?” Luc asked.
“Please, I’ll explain later. Let’s just find Genna.” Kyle said.
Luc looked at Kyle face, and into his eyes. He couldn’t tell what, but something was telling him to trust him. Luc shrugged his shoulders, and walked into the darkness, being followed by Kyle.
Together, the two boys searched the entire academic wing of the school, and were now advancing onto the recreational area. They past the cafeteria and the auditorium, on their way to the gym. They walked into the gym, and the bright lights flashed on. Kyle walked in front of Luc, as they walked through the gym to the pool room.
In the distance, Luc heard movement within the locker room. He looked at Kyle to make sure he wasn’t crazy, but Kyle heard the noise as well. The two of them slowly walked towards the door, and Kyle entered first. They cautiously searched through the rows of lockers, but didn’t find any trace of Genna. That only left one place. The shower room.
As they walked toward the infamous room, Kyle gave Luc an apologetic look. Luc reached out and slowly pushed the iron door inward, and almost passed out at what he saw. On the dirty tiled wall, their was a message written in blood. It read ‘You didn‘t come alone.’ On the floor in front of him, Luc saw the index finger of Genna’s right hand.
Luc covered his mouth with his hand, as tears fell from his eyes. He turned and ran out of the room and back into the locker room. He fell to the ground, hysterically crying, before he felt a pair of arms wrap around him. He looked behind him to see Kyle kneeling over him, trying to comfort him. Luc would have normally pulled away, but he was completely broken. Tears rained from his green eyes as Kyle rubbed his back.
“Oh so this is looking for Genna?” A voice said.
Luc looked towards the voice, and saw CJ standing at the entrance to the locker room. His blonde hair was in a complete mess from the snow, and his clothes were all wet and dirty from the weather. Luc saw immense sadness in his hazel eyes.
“CJ…” Luc said.
CJ turned around, and started to walk out of the room. Luc ripped himself out of Kyle’s arms, and started to chase after CJ. Kyle sprung to his feet, and tried to stop Luc.
“Stop Luc!” Kyle yelled.
“Yeah, don’t bother. You have your new protector now, you don’t need me.” CJ said.
“Yeah, I’ll protect him from you.” Kyle said.
Both CJ and Luc turned around, and looked at Kyle.
“Its CJ…He’s the killer!” He said.
Luc’s eyes widened as he turned to look at CJ. He slowly backed away, towards Kyle.
“What! You fucking believe him?” CJ yelled.
“I don’t know…” Luc said, stopping.
“Luc, I know its him, He has anger problems. Ever see the rage in him? After you two stopped talking, He got jealous of your new friends and killed them. Genna’s dead, and only us three are here. We’ve been with together whole time, and where was he?” Kyle said.
“What!? Genna’s dead?” CJ asked.
“Playing dumb now?” Kyle asked.
Kyle walked closer to Luc, and went to wrap his arm around the trembling boy.
“Don’t you fucking touch him!” CJ yelled.
“What are you gonna do?” Kyle asked.
Luc dropped to his knee’s, letting out a loud cry. In a matter of seconds his world had become more screwed up than he could have ever imaged. The person he loved was being accused of killing all of his friends by the biggest asshole in the school. The scary part was Luc believed him. Everything seemed to point to CJ. Luc knew that CJ had a bad anger management problem, and that he does easily get jealous. Luc even heard someone screaming in the background on the phone.
“Luc you don’t believe him right?” CJ asked.
Luc just cried.
“Let Luc make up his own mind.” Kyle said.
“You fucking asshole!” CJ yelled.
CJ ran at Kyle, and tackled him into the lockers. CJ pounded his fists into Kyle’s gut, before throwing him into a parallel set of lockers. Kyle’s body hitting the lockers caused a loud banging noise. CJ grabbed Kyle from the back of his head, and smashed his face into the steal. Kyle pushed CJ off of him, and looked at a quivering Luc.
“Run.” Kyle yelled to Luc.
Luc got up, and ran as fast as he could towards the front entrance of the school. He didn’t look back as he neared the front corridor. Luc ran against the hard iron door, causing it to swing open with great force. Luc ran into the snow covered world, and hid behind a small bush, waiting for someone else to exit the school.
Luc closed his eyes, as a cold chill began to creep up his spine. He’d been waiting for ten minutes, before someone came out of the school. As soon as the door opened, Luc jumped up to see Kyle stagger towards him. Luc ran over to him, and caught Kyle in his arms.
“Kyle…what happened to CJ?” Luc began to ask.
“Don’t worry about it, you’re safe…” Kyle said.
Kyle let out a groan that seemed to be brought about from pain.
“Are you hurt?” Luc asked.
“Nah, I’m fine.” Kyle boldly sated.
“Thank you.” Luc said.
“No problem.” Kyle said.
Luc looked at the school, before looking back at Kyle.
“What are we gonna do?” Luc asked.
“Come to my house.” Kyle said.
“What?” Luc asked.
“Come. It’s close and we can call the police from their.” Kyle suggested.
“You sure that’s the best thing?” Luc asked.
“I’m not so bad once you get to know me Luc.” Kyle said.
“I don’t know…Its not everyday you find out someone you thought you loved is a crazy psychotic murder…” Luc said.
“Luc, please. I feel awful after all I put you through. This’ll be my way to repay you.” Kyle said.
“You’re not gonna take no?” Luc asked.
“Nope.” Kyle said.
“Fine.” Luc said.
Kyle smiled, before he began to lead Luc the way. The two had to hop a fence, cut through back yards and get into a gated community in order to reach Kyle’s house. As soon as they reached his house, Kyle lead Luc into the kitchen.
“I’ll go and get the phone to call the police, but first want a drink?” Kyle asked.
“No, I’m good.” Luc said.
“Com’on after that long trip you have to be thirsty.” Kyle said.
“Fine, I’ll have water.” Luc said.
“You got it.” Kyle said, smiling seductively.
Luc watched as Kyle reached into the fridge, and pulled out a cup of water and handed it to him. Luc took the glass, and slowly brought the cup to his lips. He slightly parted his lips, and placed the rim of the cup along his bottom lip. Luc closed his eyes as he tilted his head back, allowing the water to travel down his throat.
Luc’s hand dropped the cup, and it fell to the floor before shattering. Luc couldn’t hear anything, and felt everything spinning. Luc tried to focus in on Kyle, remembering the only other time he felt this way…CJ’s party.
“You bastard…It was you.”
