If I Was The One
Two Years Later
(Two years later – Senior year for Regina, remember)
I see the way he treats you
I feel the tears you cried
And it makes sad, and it makes mad
There\'s nothing I can do baby
And I guess that\'s where the story ends
So I\'ve gotta try, to keep it inside
You will never be, never be mine but
If I was the one who was loving you, baby
The only tears you\'d cry would be tears of joy
And if I was by your side
You\'ll never know one lonely night
And if it was my arms you were running to
I\'d give you love in these arms of mine
If I was the one in your life
“Regina, Regina, here’s your History homework” the chubby girl panted as she caught up to Regina and the two girls flanking her.
“Excellent Harriet. And here’s my English, it’s due Monday. And Harriet, try to tone down your poetic writing: Mr. Sherwood just can’t believe they’re from my tiny little brain…”
“Oh Regina, your brain isn’t tiny at all, no” Harriet panted, not getting the sarcasm.
“Yes, whatever. You can go now. Girls, the bathroom. My makeup’s pouring off”. She swanned off, flankers in tow.
“Oh, Regina, didn’t you get an A on your English last time? God, I don’t see why you won’t let Harriet do my work” Tina, left flanker, whined.
“That’s because you’re a moron Tina. Honestly, how many different essays on one crazy poet do you think one person can write?” Regina leaned over the sink and eyed her immaculate since that morning makeup critically. She blinked, re-glossed and fluffed before walking to the door. Tina and Vickie hurriedly stuffed their make up back in their bags and scurried after her.
Devin trotted into class after the train of football players and sat in what was, as usual, the only seat left. The football players waited till the last second to come to class and Devin was always the last of them. They always left a seat in front of them for him. They amused themselves pulling his hair and poking him in the back.
He caught a flash of blonde hair as three girls walked in. Okay, the football players were the second last to class. Regina, Tina and Vickie’s seats were heavily reserved.
She sat two seats closer to the middle than him, three rows up. He could stare at her hair and it looked like he was staring at the board. He watched as she turned her head a little and her hair swished. He was broken out of his trance when the speaker phone crackled.
“Ok, kids, just reminding everyone that “the big game” is tomorrow. We’re playing Madison” pause for booing, which the class obliged to, “so we’ll need all your support! This is the game, the last game, so everyone come down and cheer for our quarterback” grins and pats on the back to Jimmy, “who’s leaving for college in a month. Let’s hear it for Jimmy McBride!” Cheers, whooping, yelling, etc. “And of course, all the other football seniors!’ a yelp, like he was pinched, “And of course, the entire senior class! Yes, yes, so everyone come on down to the field and show some football sp– uh, SCHOOL spirit!!!”
(So, duh, I don\'t own the lyrics \"If I Was The One\". - wait, I don\'t know who DOES own them, but it isn\'t me...)
(\'The FootBall Game\' is on the way, I just have lots of work and I wanted to seperate this chapter and that. As usual please reveiw)
