Another One?

Another one?

Besides the snafu about the homophobic thing, the birthday party went well, Mark and Greg didn’t know who was who and they didn’t know that Kessie was Raquella’s child at the party. Raquella and Lucilla couldn’t have asked for a better party. Now all the couple had to do was to prepare for the birth of their second child.

Kessie was starting to learn to read and loved to spend hours reading to what she called, “Mommy’s big belly.” Kessie also loved to feel the baby kick and would scream with laughter and cackle and giggle every time the baby would move.

The most recent sonogram had shown that this child was going to be a boy, so the two women decided to name the child ‘Connor Michael.’ Both women were so happy they couldn’t think of anything but their son.

One night Charlie brought Kessie home from a play date, while the women had a date of their own. Lucilla went to put Kessie to bed, while Raq and Charlie talked for a few minutes.

“Can I get you some tea, or some coffee or even something to eat Charlie?” Raquella smiled and walked into the kitchen.

“No thank you Raquella, actually, I wanted to be curious and ask you something,”

“Sure Charlie, ask anything you’d like.”

“How did Lucilla get pregnant?”

I thought I had already told you about that, we used the in-vitro process.”

“Yeah, you did tell me, but where did you guys go?”

“Little Hopes of Heaven... that nice place over on Morgan street in the city itself. Why do you ask?” Raquella set the water on the stove.

“No real reason, just curious.” Charlie stood there in the kitchen and a few moments of silence followed, only broken by the whistle of the kettle.

“Charlie... tell me...” Raquella handed Charlie his cup of tea.

“It’s just...that one...of the guys down at the shop goes to the Little Hopes of Heaven down there on Morgan street to donate sperm.” He sipped at his tea, perfectly made.

“WHAT?”

Both Raquella and Charlie turned around to see the pregnant Lucilla standing in the doorway. Her mouth was hanging open in shock.

“Lucilla, Charlie was just about to tell me...”

“I heard what he said...” She turned her glare towards Charlie, “WHO?”

“Uh...” Charlie set his tea cup down on the counter.

“Lucilla...it doesn’t matter.” Raquella said, walking over to her wife.

“IT DOES MATTER TO ME IF IT’S MARK!!!” Lucilla roared at Raquella and ran to their bedroom. Raquella turned and looked at Charlie.

“Perhaps you should leave...” Raq said, walking Charlie to the door. As soon as Charlie was gone and out of sight, Raq rushed down the hallway towards their bedroom. Lucilla was laying on the bed, sobbing.

“Lucy...honey...”

“Don’t say anything Raquella... don’t say anything.” Lucilla said, looking up at her wife with tear stains running down her face.

\"Lucilla, I just want to say one thing... Fuck Mark! He doesn’t care about you, like I care about you... and if it is his... it doesn’t matter, it is ours and I will love it and you no matter what... Please don’t cry” Raquella put her hand on Lucilla’s head and ruffled her hair.

Lucilla looked up at her wife and smiled, “I love you.”

“I love you too dear...”

“Raq, can I just cry in your arms tonight? It will make me feel better.”

“Anything for you Lucy...anything for you.”
