Chapter 6: The Reunion
Abbacus stared in awe at the face that revealed itself to him. The world seemed to spin around him and turn upside-down. His thoughts whirled in his mind as he saw those eyes, those sweet, beautiful, and empty eyes.
\"Adrienne............\" he whispered.
Demons around him swarmed, and they salivated at the thought of killing their former comrade. Seven of them rushed at Abbacus, but he could not move. All he could notice was Adrienne in the distance, staring back at him. Sandalphon, however, did notice them, and cut them down with ease.
\"Pay attention!\" Sandalphon yelled to Abbacus.
Abbacus continued to stare, he could not tear his eyes away.
\"Abbacus....what the hell.......?\" Sandalphon said until he looked and saw what Abbacus was staring at.
Sandalphon\'s eyes widened as he saw Adrienne, and he nearly dropped his rapier out of shock.
\"But how? She died!\" Sandalphon said in disbelief.
Abbacus could only look on, and then noticed another woman near Adrienne, her hair was darker, and her figure was a little more of an hourglass shape, but she resembled Adrienne. Demons surrounded the two Angels, brandishing their blades. But the two Celestials snapped out of their trance. Sandalphon turned and faced the unholy demons, while Abbacus ran forward, toward his beloved Adrienne........
***************************
Oharas approached Sin slowly, baring his fangs only slightly. His blade caught the light of the sun and reflected it into Sin\'s dark eyes, and the demon turned away from the light.
\"Weakling.\" Oharas said mockingly as he turned his blade away.
Sin turned his head to face his great adversary, and glared at him.
\"Weakling?! You would be wise to choose your words better, Celestial.\" Sin growled.
Oharas did not reply, he merely stopped ten feet away from Sin and readied his sword in his right hand. Rattuku and Onatu stared at the Second God, reading his mind, it was done easily, however, for his mind was always open to Angels. Any creature could tell that Oharas hated Sin, for it was Sin who was the reason for Domaddadon tempting Lucifer. Sin was Domaddadon\'s master, and Domaddadon influenced Lucifer to begin the war in Heaven all those millennia ago. Sin was the embodiment of all the things that had tortured Oharas through his life, and Oharas wanted him dead more than anything else.
\"Are you ready?\" Sin said, hissing slightly.
\"I was born ready, bitch.\" Oharas said, chuckling a little.
At the word \"bitch\", Sin rushed at Oharas, his zweihander ready to strike. Oharas dodged under the attack and slammed his katana against Sin\'s great sword, notching the edge of Sin\'s zweihander. \"You bastard!\" Sin said as he looked at the chip taken out of his sword.
Sin looked over Oharas\' blade, and studied its details. An O kissaki and a mitsu mune, a yakizume boshi, a muji hada, and a notare hamon line. The tsuka of Oharas\' katana was thirteen inches long, with two dragon-shaped menuki and three mekugi made of dried bamboo. The fuchi was of folded steel, as was the tsuba, and the habaki was engraved with the words:\"The blade of the Oharas, the Demon Reaper\" in runes, and the kashira was engraved with blessings in the Oharan language.
Sin had to admit that Oharas\' sword was superior to almost all others, maybe even his own. He spent so much time looking over the Angel\'s blade that he hardly noticed it swing into the air before it came down at him swiftly. Sin blocked the attack, at the cost of another notch in his sword. Oharas easily balanced on the two swords and leaped behind Sin, readying another strike. Sin turned quickly, and hurled a kozuka at the Second God, but Oharas easily dodged it and brought his blade down near the kissaki of Sin\'s already-notched sword.
Sin crossed swords with Oharas, and the two stood at a stalemate, both pushing against the other, with no clear winner. Rattuku watched with intense interest, he had never seen Oharas in a duel with a near equal, it was profoundly entertaining to him. Rattuku pulled his hair away from his other eye and revealed a great many tattoos on his fair-skinned face. Almost the whole side of his face was covered in runic writings and heavenly blessings, and a small pentacle decorated his cheek. He watched the two combatants duel, watching sparks fly from the two blades. Sin\'s blade was heavily notched, and its edge was getting dull already, Hell-forged weaponry had that common problem, they could be razor sharp but they would be rendered valueless with a single strike.
Oharas crossed swords with Sin once again, and placed another chip into his great zweihander, notching away five letters of the engraved word \"Darkness\" from his blade. The two jumped back at the same moment, and then their blades clashed again, and the sound of snapping metal filled the air........
***********************
Seigfried and his bride, Caitlin, stood atop a cathedral on the third level of the Citadel, watching the battle unfold. Demon bodies littered the field before the Citadel, and many Angels had now reached the bottom level. Caitlin had watched Honaffiel and Eloa fly past her and her lifemate, and now watched the two plow through scores of demons with no effort.
\"It is time.......\" Seigfried said quietly, his long, braided blond hair flowing in the strong wind.
Seigfried was always a man of few words, and he would always let one know what he thought. His green eyes looked over to his lifemate, and her blue eyes caught his in a short gaze. Seigfried, though not a romantic by any means, deeply loved the woman next to him. Her hair was close to the same color as his, although much shorter. Her eyes could make the ocean seem dirty, and her smile charmed him beyond what words could say. She wore light armor, she was not a fan of hulking pieces of metal attached to her. A long broadsword was strapped to her side, a long, ivory hilt and cross-guard, the cross-guard shaped like a goat\'s head with long, curved horns.
A young Angel flew past them, and as he sped away he said:\"Come friends, for the cause!\"
Caitlin said under her breath:\"Fuck the cause.\"
Seigfried laughed softly and embraced her, kissing her cheek. And without another word the two leaped off their perch, spreading their wings. Seigfried pulled his sword from its leather sheath, he, like Sin, weilded a zweihander blade, though Seigfried\'s was slightly shorter in length, and broader in width. His blade was forged by his daughter and two of his concubines when he once ruled Chiga, before he had met his lifemate. The blade shimmered in the light, and he gripped the long hilt tightly, almost shaking the golden cross-guard of the sword. The two didn\'t have to wait long before they were confronted. Just as they reached the bottom level of the Citadel, two Chaos Demons and several dragons dove at them, one of them immediately cut in half by Caitlin\'s sword.
Seigfried was knocked to the ground by a dragon, the beast biting down on his arm. Seigfried didn\'t even scream, he quickly took his left hand and plunged it into the demon\'s eye socket, ripping its eye out and crushing it in his hand. The beast released its hold on Seigfried and wailed into the air, but the mournful noise was cut short as Seigfried\'s zweihander cut through the dragon\'s neck and severed its head. He turned and saw his lifemate running a Chaos Demon through with her blade, cutting through its dark heart. Two other dragons rushed at Seigfried, the first was killed by an expertly aimed throwing dagger lodged in its forehead, and the second stopped short, a red beam of energy wrapped around its throat.
Seigfried\'s eyes followed the line of energy and was surprised to see the Angel, Lolaiel, holding the end of it. Lolaiel pulled the creature down using her energy whip, and leaped on top of it, she pulled it away from its neck, and the dragon tried to strike at her, but she sent it crashing down into its stomach, disembowling the demon. She jumped down as Seigfried severed the arm of a Chaos Demon and cut its throat, smiling proudly.
\"Not bad.\" Caitlin said, clapping almost sarcastically.
Lolaiel bowed her head, and then wiped blood from her blue wings. Lolaiel\'s hair was a very light brown, almost blond, her eyes were a beautiful green and she was a great beauty. She was clad in loose fitting leather armor, and at her right side there was a scimitar, and on her left there was a long-bladed dagger. The triad of Angels were at the bottom level of the Citadel, behind the great gate. Lolaiel\'s energy whip seemed to fade away as she called back her Angelic energies, and she rested her right hand on the scimitar at her side. Just as the group of Angels began to walk toward the battle ahead of them, Lolaiel\'s lifemate, Sarahiel, descended from the sky, her long brown hair falling far below her shoulders. Sarahiel\'s eyes were brown, and she had very fair skin, her arms were covered in leather gauntlets with sheathed daggers upon them, and a spatha was at her left side. Her wings, like her lifemate\'s, were sky-blue, with shades of grey and black at the tips.
Most Angels were sexless, an therefore could not take a bride or a lifemate, but the Zodanim were the highest of all the choirs of Angels, and thus almost all could marry or conduct in sexual acts, Lolaiel and Sarahiel\'s union was not a rare one, even though they were of the same sex. The two held eachother for a moment, and shared a brief kiss before they took to the sky and descended into the battle before the gate....
*********************
Quadiel stood atop the great gate, and watched Lolaiel and her life-mate pass overhead, Seigfried and Caitlin just barely behind them. Quadiel soon turned his head back to the many demons on the wall with him, their blades drawn, their mouths dripping with acidic saliva. One came at him with a battle axe in his hand, readying its weapon for a downward swipe. Quadiel moved to the side and cut the axe in half, sending the blade down into the hoard of demons below, embedding it in the skull of a lesser demon. Quadiel then vaulted over the demon\'s back and slashed downward, severing its spinal cord. The demon stumbled, and then fell from the wall, landing on an Angel\'s lance.
Quadiel turned his body in mid air and then slashed through another demon close to him, weilding a flamberge. The demon\'s blade snapped and the shards flew in all directions, barely missing Quadiel\'s left eye as he flipped backward and landed. A saurian demon from behind grabbed hold of one of Quadiel\'s wings, pulling him down. Quadiel landed hard onto the wall, and winced in pain. A halberd came down toward his head, but he moved his body sideways, pivoting slilghtly, bringing his legs under the demons around him, tripping them. One of the demons fell to the opposite side of the gate as the battle, and was killed by a swarm of arrows fired by many Angels under the command of Theliel.
Theliel had once been the Angel of Love, but when he was found beating his bride, Fintiyel, he was stripped of his lofty title, and also stripped of his Zodanim ranking. But in the past years, he had redeemed himself somewhat, and had been put in charge of a band of thirty Archangels. Quadiel gave the Angel an angry look, for it was his sister that he had abused. He did not have time to reflect on it, however, two demons weilding takoubas leaped toward him, but were cut down by a flurry of strikes from Quadiel\'s ninja-to. Quadiel wiped their blood from his face, and then noticed a lone figure dashing right into the bulk of Sin\'s forces, two blades flashing like lightning.
\"Abbacus.........\" Quadiel said to himself as he watched the former Hellspawn cut through score after score of demons.
Quadiel then turned to see two demons weilding machetes spring toward him, their fangs bared, and their blades crying out to taste Angelic blood. Quadiel ducked under both strikes, but his left arm was nicked by the tip of one of the demon\'s machetes. Quadiel rose up again and struck both devils across the stomach with his blade, spilling their intestines for all to see.
\"Too easy.\" he said as he disemboweled yet another lesser-demon.
Quadiel looked to his left, and saw Johnifel and Exscelsiya fighting close together, headless devil corpses surrounding them. Quadiel watched in awe as Johnifel vaulted off the shoulder of a Chaos Demon, slashed it down its back with both his blades, and then decapatated two other demons on his descent. Quadiel then turned his attention to Exscelsiya and watched as she impaled an insectoid demon on her naginata, and then sent it flying into a group of its kin, killing them. And then with a simple twist of her wrist, Exscelsiya twirled her naginata and cut open the chests of four demons around her.
Quadiel dashed to Johnifel\'s side as a dragon descended toward him, and he cut into the great beast\'s skull with his ninja-to. Johnifel smiled and gave him a slight nod, and then dove under another Chaos Demon and slashed between its legs. Exscelsiya leaped over Johnifel as he slid under her and right into the path of several other devils, cutting them open as he rose to his feet. Exscelsiya landed and kicked the feet out from under three demons around her, severing their hands from their arms in the process. The demons met their ends quickly from two quick slashes from her naginata.
Quadiel blocked three advances from a two-legged panther demon, and then took its head with a single strike from his sword. He then dodged behind the thrust of a demon and then grabbed it by its hair and slit its throat open, blood spraying in every direction. Quadiel turned to face another demon just as Johnifel ran it through with the black sword in his left hand.
\"Watch your back, kid.\" Johnifel said as he leaped into the air and cut a dragon from its neck to its tail.
Suddenly, without so much as a sound, a massive Wolf demon leaped onto the wall, and began to slowly walk toward Quadiel. The young Angel backed up slightly, and readied himself for the assault to come. The great demon growled ferociously, and bared its long fangs at Quadiel, and began to step toward him just as a blade seemed to fly out of nowhere and thrust itself into the devil\'s ribcage. The demon howled in pain as the blade came rocketing out of its body, as if of its own accord, covered in crimson blood. The blade then returned to its owner\'s hand, and holding the sword was none other than the Angel Metatron, his silver hair caked with demon blood.
The sword in Metatron\'s hand had a very complex cross-guard, it was shaped like a human skeleton, complete with skull and ribcage, with two bony hands folded over the chest. The blade itself was a broadsword, honed to an incomparable edge, near the end of the blade the sword narrowed as if to come to a point, but then went outward again to make a diamond-like shape. The pommel of the blade was several downward facing spikes, stained in the blood of a thousand devils. Quadiel stared in awe as the monstrous Wolf leaped from its position on the wall toward Metatron in one bound. Metatron seemed to not notice, but just as the beast opened its foul maw, Metatron brought his blade between its jaws and split the beast down the middle.
Metatron then pulled a dagger from his belt and hurled it straight into the eye socket of a demon behind Quadiel. Metatron then beat his mighty wings, and in one single flap, was on the wall, standing next to Quadiel. The young Angel stood, mezmerized at this creature\'s skill and strength. But this awe was short-lived, for within a few moments, a massive explosion rocked the battlefield....
************************
Abbacus had not expected the appearance of Wrath Demons on the battefield, he had cut into one without even knowing it, sending a great explosion into the demon ranks. A Wrath Demon\'s only purpose was to carry the essence of a damned soul\'s anger and hatred, and allow it to explode during battle by being struck. No need to worry, I\'m fine. I must have taken out at least forty of them though. Abbacus thought to himself. He gripped the tsukas of both blades and continued onward, never taking his eyes off of Adrienne. He still had yet to realize who the woman next to her was, but he didn\'t care, all he wanted was her, and nothing would stop him.
Many demons came before him, but none could keep him from his goal, even Wolf Demons and Chaos Demons came at him, and as soon as they did, fell to bloody pieces before the mighty Angel. He was close now, so close. But just as he neared the one he so desired, a great beast stood in his way. It was none other than Azazel, the lord of Goat Demons, and all around him were his children, humanoid goat-beasts, weilding long knives and staves. Two stood behind Adrienne, holding their daggers to her throat and stomach, while two other did the same to the other woman next to her.
\"Welcome, Abbacus. We have missed you.\" Azazel said sarcastically.
\"Out of my way, Azazel, I have no time to settle old rivalries.\" Abbacus said hatefully.
Azazel chuckled, and his children mimicked him, cackling evilly. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw one of the demons holding a blade to Adrienne\'s neck run a clawed hand over her breast.
\"You bastard!\" he yelled.
He rushed forward, but Azazel knocked him back with his fist.
\"Careful, little Hellspawn. Stay back or things much worse than that will happen to her, and your daughter.\" Azazel said.
\"Daughter?!\" Abbacus said, shocked.
He then turned his head to face the woman next to Adrienne, and began to notice similarities between them, the same colored eyes, her nose and face seemed to be of similar shape to her mother\'s, her hair was a much different color, but variation was well known among Angels.
\"You didn\'t know you had a daughter, Abbacus? Oh, how sad, your first meeting and she\'s about to die.\" Azazel said as he gave the signal to kill her.
\"NO!\" Abbacus screamed, tearing into Azazel\'s stomach with both blades, leaping over Adrienne and his daughter, and slashing the four demons that held them, with two strokes of his swords.
Azazel lay on the ground, roaring in excruciating pain. His crimson blood stained the small patches of grass around him as he began to grow weaker. Abbacus tore through demon after demon, defending the two women near him, slaying anything that got close. However, it didn\'t take Abbacus long to realize that he couldn\'t handle all these demons by himself. There were far too many, he was in the very center of Sin\'s forces, well over twenty legions were coming toward him. Abbacus quickly undid the bonds that held his bride and daughter and wrapped his wings around them, using his extensive skill in demon majicks to put up a fiery barrier around them.
Abbacus stretched his mind out into the Citadel, trying to find Oharas\' elder brother, Lucifer. He found Oharas first, but he was locked in combat with Sin, and he had broken the Demon King\'s sword, and was unavailable. Lucifer and Abaddon, however, were merely watching the duel, and were free to assist. He invaded Lucifer\'s mind, and said the simple words: \"Please.....help......\"
**********************
Lucifer had been watching the duel between Oharas and Sin for a few minutes now. Sin\'s blade had just broken, and the first half whistled through the air and embedded itself in a stone pillar nearby. Oharas rushed forward to deliver the killing blow, but the Demon Lord unsheathed the broadsword at his right side and blocked the strike.
\"Damn you!\" Oharas screamed.
Oharas leaped away, and took up another stance, keeping his eyes on Sin\'s sword. This blade must have been much better crafted than the other, this one wasn\'t notched when their blades crossed. The two crossed blades again, and the stone beneath them cracked under the force, and their muscles ached under the awesome force of the blows.
\"What did I miss?\" Zaion said as he landed close to Abaddon.
\"You\'ve missed a good fight. Oharas has already shattered one of Sin\'s blades, it seems like he\'s going to come out victorious.\" Abaddon replied.
Zaion nodded only slightly, and then watched with keen interest as the two warriors took their duel to the sky as they opened their wings and leaped upward. Sin dove for Oharas, but the Second God ascended upward just quick enough to dodge, and slash Sin down his right leg.
\"AHHH! Damn you! Accursed Angel!\" Sin cursed as his wound healed.
The two combatants crossed swords yet again, and Oharas forced them both to descend quickly toward the ground, Sin\'s head pointed downward. The two warriors crashed through the roof of the cathedral at the top of the Citadel, and Sin slammed into the altar at its center.
\"You......bastard.....\" Sin said angrily as he pushed Oharas off of him and brought his blade down.
Oharas rolled out of the way, and brought Sin\'s feet out from under him with a well-placed swipe from the saya of his sword. Oharas then drew his wakizashi from his belt and brought both his blades down on Sin, but the great demon blocked both attacks with his sword.
\"Die.......damn you.......why won\'t you die?!\" Oharas said, forcing Sin\'s blade closer to his hidden face.
Just as Lucifer and the others rushed to see what was happening, Lucifer heard the words:\"Please......help........\"inside his mind.
\"What the hell?\" Lucifer said, surprised.
He soon realized it was Abbacus, and could see the shield of fire that he had used on the battlefield. He readied his masamune and scythe and began to run toward Sin\'s armies.
\"Lucius, come with me, Abbacus needs our help!\" Lucifer yelled to Oharasu\'s son as he opened his wings and took off in Abbacus\' direction.
Lucius readied both scimitars and followed his great-grandsire, calling to Zaion to come with them. Zaion followed as well, readying his broadsword for battle. Lucifer was soon flying over the dome of flame protecting Abbacus, and descended toward it, slaying seven demons with one sweep of his masamune. Lucius and Zaion landed close to the dome, and slashed through the devils like weeds. Zaion embedded his broadsword in the stomach of a hulking Wolf Demon, and then used his katana to cut its heart from its chest. A large boom was heard, and then another, then another, almost like footsteps. Lucius turned from his last kill and realized it was footsteps, the footsteps of a massive saurian demon.
The creature\'s skin was a mix of crimson and orange, its head was adorned with many curved horns, and its maw was lined with several rows of fangs. The demon\'s long tail had a long, blade-like appendage upon it, and its back was covered in tall spines. The creature walked on four legs, and atop its back were many lesser saurian demons, two -legged beasts, weilding staffs and swords.
\"Jackpot, the big one!\" Lucius said to himself as he rushed forward, blades drawn.
Lucius leaped onto the saurian\'s head, and ran up its neck, slashing once after each step, mangling the demon. The beast howled in agony, but its cries were drowned out by the screams of its riders as they were disemboweled and decapatated one by one. Lucius then severed the blade off the demon\'s tail, and then used his telekinetic energy to send it flying through the eyes of the saurian, slaying it.
\"Damn.........\" Zaion said as he watched Lucius the saurian and then turn and kill six Se\'irim in three sweeps of his dual swords.
Zaion swung his broadsword and katana in unison, and brought down two Se\'irim and three lesser demons easily, and then turned to the weakening fire dome.
\"Lucifer, we have to get out of here!\" Zaion said as he pointed out the thousands of Wrath Demons rushing toward them.
Lucifer\'s eyes widened, and then he plowed his hand through the dome, destroying the spell.
\"We have to go, NOW!\" he said.
\"Helena, are you alright?\" Adrienne said to her daughter.
Abbacus felt an odd feeling flow through him as he heard his daughter\'s name, and then quickly handed her to Lucifer.
\"Carry her to the Citadel, she is weak, be careful.\" he said with great concern as he cradled Adrienne in his arms and took to the sky.
Lucifer held Helena close and began to rise as a hand grabbed at her arm and pulled her away. Helena screamed in pain as its claws dug into her arm and upper chest. Lucius turned and cut the hands from the devil and pulled her away, taking to sky as Zaion ascended with him. Zaion hovered in the air for a moment, then pulled a long-bladed knife from his pocket.
\"See ya!\" Zaion said as he hurled it into the skull of a Wrath Demon, causing it to burst it into flames, along with the thousands near it.
A tower of fire rose into the sky, and the Angels heard the cries:\"Azazel is dead! Azazel is dead!\"
Lucius held Helena close, trying hard to keep her wounds closed.
\"Please, help me, it hurts!\" she cried as blood flowed from the wound on her arm.
Lucius wasn\'t proficient in many healing techniques, but there was one universal way to heal a wound, that is, if your healer is an Angel. He leaned in slowly, his face turning red as he did, and moved his face toward her arm.
\"What are you doing?!\" Helena said in confusion.
Lucius gently pressed his lips to her wound, and it healed almost instantly, and all that was left was the blood on his lips. Helena blushed slightly, hoping he wouldn\'t do that to the wound on her chest, and she smiled softly as he offered a torn off piece of his shirt to use as a bandage. He couldn\'t help but notice how beautiful she was, to him, she was the most stunning thing he\'d seen. But he kept his words to himself as he flew, descending slowly to the Citadel\'s third level. They were within yards of it when a great dragon blocked their way, roaring menacingly at the troop of Angels.
\"Lucifer, hold her, would you? This one is mine.\" Lucius said.
Lucifer took Helena and held her, and watched as Lucius flew toward the dragon. Its rider bore a scythe, but it was of no use, Lucius flew toward the rider, cutting him from the stomach to his cheek, then he took the demon\'s scythe, and slammed it into the dragon\'s stomach, breaking the blade off of the wooden handle, and using the newly-made staff to impale the dragon\'s skull.
Helena looked at Lucius in awe, he was such an efficient slayer, and she couldn\'t deny he was handsome. And he seemed like a noble man, someone she could trust. She stared at him as he hovered in the air, blood covering most of him, his white wings untouched by the unholy fluids. He came back to the others and took Helena in his arms, and they descended to the third level of the Citadel, toward a balcony facing outward. Abbacus was already there, tending to Adrienne\'s wounds, for they were many, cuts and scrapes, bruises covering her body. Tears streamed from Abbacus\' eyes, the thought of his love suffering sickened him, and brought this seemingly stoic Angel to tears.
Lucius layed Helena down, and began to tend to the bruises and scrapes that covered her stomach and arms. Her hips were clearly out of joint, most likely twisted when she was pulled away from the demons. Helena shivered as she felt his hands apply a cloth to her wounds, and she wasn\'t sure what to feel as he set her hips back into place. Lucius wiped sweat and blood from his forehead, and tried to relax, but within seconds a myriad of arrows came flying through the air, almosty striking the Angels inside. But Lucifer had noticed them, and used his masamune to deflect the arrows back at their senders, killing three scores of demons.
Lucius sighed, and layed down on his stomach near Helena, tired beyond anything he\'d ever been.
\"Thank you.\" he heard Helena say.
He turned his head, and was surprised as she kissed him on the cheek, and laughed as his cheeks turned bright red.
\"Uh.....you\'re welcome. Any time.\" he said, trying not to sound too nervous.
Helena almost immediately fell asleep, she needed it dearly.
\"Wow.....\" Lucius said, touching his cheek.
Abbacus leaned over his bride, touching her wounds with a wet cloth, cleaning away the blood.
\"Oh my love, what happened to you........\" he said, tears falling down onto her cheek.
\"Sin.......he...........he........\" Adrienne said, suddenly bursting into tears.
\"What? What did he do?\" Abbacus said, fearing the worst.
In between sobs and tears, she managed to say:\"He.....raped.......me.....\" And Abbacus\' eyes began to glow red.
\"Hold her Zaion, I have someone to kill.....\" Abbacus said as he handed Adrienne over, and unsheathed his twin swords, gripping the hilts tighter than he ever thought he could.
*****************************
Oharas and Sin stood in a stalemate. The others watched as the two crossed blades over and over, neither landing a single blow on the other, each cancelling the other out, they were even. Sin pushed Oharas against the wall of the cathedral, and swung his blade, but Oharas leaped upward, rebounding off the wall, which was soon cut in two as Sin\'s sword slashed through it. Oharas grasped Sin\'s helm, and hurled him out the door of the cathedral, nearly throwing him off of the twelfth level of the Citadel. Oharas and Sin rushed at eachother, and their swords came together with immense force, sending a shockwave through the whole Citadel, shaking it down to its core, cracking the bricks on the eleventh and twelfth levels.
The two glared into eachother\'s eyes, pure hatred seething in their hearts. The two warriors would not yeild. Their swords began to grind against eachother, and the steels began to turn red as the heat became severe, and sparks flew in all directions. Oharas then brought his foot upward, and knocked Sin\'s blade away, giving him enough time to flip his sword\'s position, and slam the kashira into Sin\'s stomach. The Demon King flew backward, but he stopped himself with the spined tips his gauntlets. He began to rush toward the Second God, but he stopped suddenly, and blood spurted from his stomach. Oharas had readied a strike, but he stopped and stared in confusion, but then noticed the two barbed blades jutting from Sin\'s stomach.
Abbacus layed a clawed hand on Sin\'s shoulder, his eyes burning red with hatred, and said:\"Die, filth!\" as he twisted his swords within Sin, and then wrenched them out, Sin\'s blood spraying onto the cracked granite bricks of the Citadel. Abbacus then slashed Sin twice across the back, and cut his throat open, throwing his limp body against the wall of the cathedral. The Oharans stared in awe as Abbacus licked the blood from his swords, almost as if he was posessed. As the blood flowed down his throat, Abbacus began to feel strange, his intestines began to burn with pain, and his skin felt as if it was set alight with the flames of Hell. He suddenly screamed toward the sky, and a pulsing fiery aura was sent scything through the air.
\"What is this?\" Rattuku said.
Oharas watched calmly, as if he\'d seen it all before.
\"He\'s absorbed Sin\'s blood. He is changing...........\" Oharas said.
Laying limp at the cathedral\'s wall was Sin, broken, torn, bleeding. But ever so slowly, his wounds began to heal, and his hand grasped at his sword. His dark eyes opened, and he smiled in dark satisfaction as he gazed at Abbacus\' transformation......
