Letting go... and grabbing anew

Ana took one last look at Jordan then closed her eyes to settle. Angie rested her head down. Her dad was back and she was happy. Soon she was sound asleep. That’s when they came. They were pulling her away from her dad and she couldn’t let that happen, "Help me!"

Jordan heard Angie's voice before he even was awake. He had been waiting to hear it for so long that his subconscious was already heading in her direction before his body was. In a jump he was up and he almost bounded around Ana's bed as he made his way to her. He kneeled next to her. "Angie, it's ok. I'm here. I'm right here."

She gripped his arm, "They were taking me away and I couldn’t let them because you were here and I couldn’t find mommy and I didn’t know what to do... Where is Anna? They tried to take me away!"

"It's ok Angie, You're here with me. No one is going to take you away now. You're right here with me." Jordan felt like he was repeating himself, but he knew that she needed to be assured of the fact that he was here and repeating it was the only way to convince her of it. "Ana is right here." He looked over to see if Ana had awoken from the commotion. Jordan thought that he would have some explaining to do about why Ana was here later.

Ana let him go to her. She had wanted to see what was wrong but she didn’t go. She stood at the door and watched them. When Angie asked for her she smiled. When Jordan looked over his shoulder she waited.

Jordan cocked his head at Angie, trying to convey that he wanted Ana to say something, to assure Angie that she was there as well. Explaining could come some other time.

"I'm right here Sprite," saidsaid walking into the room and sitting on the bed with Jordan and Angie, "I am right here."

Angie smiled brightly and reached over to kiss Ana on the cheek. She then kissed her dad, "Can you stay with me?"

"The bed is too small for both of us, but I will be right here next to you. Is that ok?" Jordan had never been able to sleep when Angie climbed into bed with him and his ex-wife. She squirmed around too much.

Ana smiled, "I will go back to bed sweetie," she said stroking Angie's hair, "Daddy will stay with you ok?" Angie nodded and scooted back down in bed. She looked up at her dad, "You have to tuck me in again!" she grinned.

Jordan smiled at his daughter. "No problem." He took the time and tucked her back into the bed. When he finished he sat on the bed where Ana had slept and waited. Within a few minutes Angie had fallen back to sleep, her chest rising and falling slowly. Jordan turned and saw Ana next to him.

"You want to stay with her don’t you?" she asked Jordan. She smiled and walked over to him. She smoothed his hair and kissed him on the forehead.

"Well, I can't exactly leave, though the prospect of spending some quality time with you sounds good too."

She smiled, "we have other times," she said leaning over to kiss Angie, "if she wakes up and you're not here she is going to start crying. I'll go back to bed now."

Jordan looked down at the bed he was sitting on; the one Ana was sleeping on a few minute ago. "Will you stay with us?"

She was stunned, "You want me to stay with you?" she asked wide eyed, "ah sure."

Jordan stood up from the bed and walked over to Ana. He kissed her gently on the lips. "Thanks." He motioned to the bed. "If you have a nightmare, I'll be right there for you too."

She smiled and walked over to the bed and lay down beside Angie. She pulled the little girl into her arms and closed her eyes. Soon she was sound asleep.

Jordan lay out onto the other bed. He rolled up on his side and watched Ana cuddle up with Angie. It seemed to him that Ana and Angie made a pretty good pair. How could he take Angie from her by going back to the states? But at the same time, how could he stay here in Mexico? Jordan pondered that as he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Anna's sleep was peaceful. More peaceful than she has had in months. The next time she woke up light was shining through the window and Jordan was looking at her, "How long have you been up?" she asked.

"I've been up most of the night. Couldn't sleep. Lots of things on my mind." Jordan kept his voice low, trying not to wake up Angie.

"Like what?" she asked rising up on her elbow and squinting to avoid the sun's rays, "You ok?"

Jordan reached over the bed and closed the blinds. "Just thinking about what to do. Whether to stay, go, take Angie with me, ask you to come with me. All the things that make being an adult difficult."

"There is nothing to be difficult about it," Ana said sitting up, "You have to go home Jordan. I knew that when you came here."

"Just because the choice is pre-determined doesn't make it any easier." He leaned forward so their faces were close together. "You'd make a great mother for Angie, you know."

She blushed and looked away, "Don’t say that."

"Why not? It's true. I've seen you around her. You're better than her real mother, and you are even better with her than I am."

Ana blushed then moved her mouth the few inches it took to kiss him, "I am glad you approve. But you still have to take her home."

"Why don't you come with us?" Jordan blurted out. It wasn't how he wanted it to sound, but there it was.

"I can’t come with you," she said sadly as she looked down at Angie. As much as she wood love to. ~What is keeping you in Mexico? ~ she asked herself. There is nothing. But he needed time with Angie.

"I understand." Jordan kissed her on the forehead and stood up, walking to the kitchette. He drew a glass of water and drank from it slowly. ~I can't pick up and just move. I have my business. I can't just leave it, even if it is doing well, ~ he thought. Looking at Ana though, it was almost enough to make him just chuck everything and stay with her.

Ana laid back down beside Angie. Her head was spinning about what to do. She then decided to screw it, "I'll go with you," she said simply.

Jordan almost choked on his water, but he forced it down. "Wait... I can't ask you to just leave; I don't know why I even brought it up. We barely know each other. I have a few weeks left I can take. Let’s find out if this will work. The last thing I want is to promise to spirit you away like Delta Dawn, just to decide that it won't work later." He was rambling and he knew it, but he couldn't stop.

"Ok fine," she said getting up off the bed, "Then I wont go." she got out of bed and locked herself in the bathroom. She stripped down and stepped into the shower.

Jordan cursed himself as he walked to the bathroom, pulling out his Swiss army knife; he opened the small screwdriver and inserted it into the basic twist lock. With a flick of her wrist, he unlocked the door and opened it a crack. "Ana?"

He pushed the door open and walked to the shower; the etched doors only gave him an impression of what her body looked like. "I didn't mean to upset you. I just didn't want to take you away if you really didn't want to go, not until you were sure."

Ana only began humming ignoring him. She didn’t need this right now. She just offered to give up all that she knew for this man and he said he wasn’t sure. She turned her face up to the water.

He closed the door and re-locked it. "Damn it, Ana. You're as stubborn as Angie is." He smiled to himself; he was always surrounding himself with stubborn women. "I want you go to with me. I really do."

"You'd better be s" sh" she said not turning the water off, "As you said, I could turn out to be the grim reaper."

"I didn't say that. When did I say that?" Jordan was confused, but this certainly wouldn't be the first time.

"You didn’t have to say it," she said turning around so that the water could beat her head, "You didn’t have to."

Jordan shook his head. ~Do I really want this headache?~ He reached up and put his hand on the door handle, almost pulling it open. "Ana..." He couldn't say anything... what was there to say?

Ana turned the water off and ran her hand over hair to get some of the water out. She then pulled her hair over her shoulder and squeezed it. She then opened the shower doors and crashed into Jordan/.

Jordan brought his hands up to try to stop her, but they slid around the sides of her stomach since she was wet, as she fell, he went down first and she landed on top of him. Jordan laid on the floor in shock at the wet woman lying naked on top of him. "Um... you didn't notice I was right here?"

"Well you shouldn’t be in here in the first place," she said trying to get up. She stood up and walked over to the towel rack. She got a large towel and wrapped in around her waist.

Jordan just lay on the floor, Most of the water on Ana had transferred to his clothing and he was wet. Looking 'up' he saw her standing above him with her breasts bare. He quickly closed his eyes. "Sorry, most women cover themselves entirely with a towel."

Ana only made a 'tsk' sound and turned away from him. She moved the towel up and wrapped it around her full body. She turned to the mirror and trying to detangled her hair with her fingers.

Grinning Jordan pulled himself up off the floor and brushed some of the water off him. As he turned to the mirror he saw two wet imprints from Ana's breasts in the mirror and couldn't help but start laughing quietly.

"What’s so funny?" she asked turning to face him.

Wiping the tears from his eyes, he turned to Ana, the wet spots showing up well on his light blue shirt. "Not exactly footprints, hey?"

She blushed and looked away, "jeesh," she said hiding a smile, "If you were a gentleman you wouldn’t bring that up."

His laughter quieted down at that. "Hey, a gentleman wouldn't have run in here trying to make up for upsetting you. He would have stayed out there, not really caring what he said might have upset you. Oh well, no one ever accused me of being a gentleman." He walked up to Ana, standing closer than would be comfortable for 'friends'. He stood there for a second and when he spoke all the humor was gone from his voice, "and I care how you feel".

She looked up into his eyes, "Why?" she asked quietly, "Why do you care so much? What makes you so different?"

"Because I'm not only thinking about myself, but also for that young, vulnerable, child out there. If she likes you, and I like you, then how could that be wrong?" He didn't know if he was saying that for her benefit or for his.

"It can’t be," she had to admit. But she didn’t look into his eyes then. She wanted to not feel like such a fool. She moved closer to press her body into his.

He turned his head and lowered it, bringing his lips close to hers. "And if it’s not wrong, then it must be right." He barely touched his lips against hers and he touched her hips with his hands and pulled her gently against him.

Ana moaned and lifted her face so that his lips were no on hers. She then opened her mouth and waited to see what he would do.

Jordan opened his lips and pressed his mouth against hers gently, almost tentatively, to see if she would respond. He shuttered at the feeling, the touch that her lips left on his.

Ana responded. She wanted to stop but she responded anyway. Her arms went around his waist and pulled him closer as she deepened the kiss.

Jordan pulled her hips against his and ran his tongue over her teeth, asking to be invited inside. His hands slid up under the towel and rested on the top part of her bum where they began massaging.

Ana moaned and opened completely to him, but she quickly pulled away, "Jordan," she moaned, "Remember Angie." She didn’t want to be the voice of reason but it was better than starting screaming and Angie thinks someone is killing her.

Jordan pulled back. "Yes of course. What do you way we go out and meet this day? We can continue this, if you want, later."

Ana smiled, "I want," she said. She gave him a quick kiss then began heading toward the door.

Jordan watched her walk towards the door, still clad only in a towel. "Don't you want to get dressed first? I'll go out and get Angie up."

She stopped. She was beginning to hate him being right all the time but she would never admit it. "Yah," she said then turned around. She stopped to wait until he left before she got dressed.

He saw her reach for her clothes then stop. ~Why be coy now?~ He smiled at her and left the bathroom, feeling better than if he had just had a showered himself. As he walked out of the bathroom he heard Angie waking up. “Daddy?”

Ana got dressed hurriedly then checked herself. She then walked out. "Ana!" yelled Angie. Ana smiled, "Good morning Sprite!"
