chapter seven
If you must know, I love the name Leo and I use it in more than one story. It’s just perfect for the personality that I am portraying. If I had the choice, I would be named Leo. Also, I must be completely honest… Starting somewhere after the eleventh or twelfth paragraph, I am high off my gourd. I had my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday, and I have been taking some STRONG pain medicine. ((My original spelling of the word taking was ‘takening’, so I’m sure you understand that I may just have to post what I have, read it over when I’m sober, fix it, and repost in a few days.)) That being said, I think I’ll finish up my chappie and let you beautiful people read it anyway.
::nothing false and possible- chapter seven::
The boy sat there in the corner twisting a stray strand of hair from his long black ponytail. Everybody knew he was different than the other men he was made to associate with. He had gone to boarding school for over half of his life and then transferred to a high-grade private school right outside of town. His dad was lenient with his life choices, of course, because he loved him, but he was still forced to tag along to these little parties and meetings. He was going to take over the business one day, after all. He had to stay a part of the game.
Leo sighed as the mother-like woman offered him another cocktail. He declined politely and smiled. The fruity concoctions were starting to make his head swim and he wasn’t sure he was going to be able to drive his BMW home if he kept drinking them. The boy cleared his throat in irritation and tried to look anywhere but forward. His hostess had put down her tray and stopped to look him over, carefully.
“Leo, darling, are you all right? You seem upset about something.” The woman ran the back of her hand along the side of Leo’s face smiled. “Stephen will be home with the ice soon and you can have someone your age to talk to. Won’t you like that?”
Leo opened his mouth and shut it again. There were many nice things he could say about the woman’s beautiful son, but none of them could be said in present company. “That’ll be great.” He said with a washed out smile. This seemed to placate the demanding woman, because she nodded and walked away to treat some of her other guests.
“Someone order ice?” Stephen walked into the room, all smiles. He had been running errands ever since he left the coffee shop and he was just glad to be done. Stephen glanced around the room and was greeted by a few gruff looking men, who were dressed up in Sunday clothes. His dad’s boss was sitting in the big armchair watching a pool match with his father and his mother was running around the room, like a chicken with its head cut off. Stephen walked over to his mother and grabbed the tray out of her hands. He balanced on his palm all the way into the kitchen, while holding the bag of ice over his other shoulder. His mother followed him into the kitchen, fussing the whole way. Stephen laid down the try and shushed his mom. “Shh… It will be okay, now. Everybody’s drinks are fresh, I’m here to pick up slack, and… Leo’s standing in the doorway.” Stephen was shell-shocked. What was Leo doing here?
Stephen’s mother turned to look at the door and smiled back at her son. “I know! Isn’t he turning out to be a handsome young man?” Stephen’s mom leaned into him and smirked. “You two were always so cute together.”
Stephen gave his mother a sharp look and gasped. “What are you talking about?”
“The way you two went back and forth, when you were…” Stephen’s mother grinned bigger. “…friends”
Leo smirked at Stephen, as he leaned in the doorway. “It sounded like there were quotations around that last word, Stephen. What do you think?”
“I think my mother has lost her mind.” Stephen hissed at the other young man, before looking back at his mother and whispering. “Have you? Have you lost your mind?”
Stephen’s mother sighed. “You’re so uptight, baby. You can let go of my little discrepancies against your father, but you think I can’t let go of yours? Not that they are discrepancies.”
Stephen ran his hand down his face and grunted. “You’ve gone crazy.”
The older woman pat her son’s shoulder and then rubbed it soothingly. “I have to go see if your father needs anything. You two boys should go out on the back porch and talk, or something.” Mrs. McDaniel winked at her son and turned to leave the kitchen.
Stephen stood in the middle of the floor and dropped his head. He frowned at his shoes and sighed. “Why are you here, Leo? I’m sure it wasn’t to see me.”
Leo chewed on his bottom lip and shrugged. “You being here was just a lucky break. I thought you avoided these things as much as I did. My father made me come.” Leo fidgeted with his belt buckle and smiled up at his old friend. “Your mom is pretty cool.”
“I used to think so, until she wanted me to take you outside and neck.” Stephen quirked a brow at his younger counterpart. “I’m kinda’ weirded out, now.”
Leo laughed and scratched the back of his head. “Well, that’s actually what confirmed my opinion of her being cool.”
Stephen smirked and shrugged. “Lets go out there and talk instead. I have a friend that I expect to be here in a few minutes, but until then we can catch up.”
Leo smirked at the older boy and nodded. He followed Stephen out the kitchen door and onto the porch, where they both sat on the patio chairs and looked out over the backyard. “I’m sorry that I was… the way I was before I left.”
Stephen shrugged and nodded, but he didn’t say it was ‘Ok’. He was through giving Leo absolution for his sins. “What happened after you left on your trip?”
Leo sighed and shook his head. “I went backpacking in South America with a few friends. Amy supplied the drugs, Jordan supplied the alcohol, and I supplied the sex. We fooled around, got wasted, and almost got ourselves killed, multiple times. I overdosed on Ambien, a type of sleeping pill that makes you trip like something awful, and was admitted to a hospital in Peru. It had clean sheets and beautiful nurses, but I was going crazy being stuck in bed. They gave me unnatural amounts of ipecac and we got most of that shit out my system. I came back to the states sans Amy and Jordan, and I immediately put myself in ‘detox’. I haven’t called them, because I don’t want to feel the guilt over leaving them. They haven’t called me… but I’m not sure why not.”
Stephen shook his head and shrugged. “I’m sure it’s over the guilt that they feel over making you have to leave. They didn’t keep a good enough eye on your intake.” Stephen laid his head back and closed his eyes. “Like me.”
Leo rested his elbows on his knees and took a shuddering breath. “Stephen, that wasn’t your fault and you know it. I was… am a junkie. I will be for the rest of my life, whether I actually do anything or not.” The younger man dropped his head forward and touched it to his knees. “I still love you, you know. I don’t think I ever could stop loving you, but I understand why we can’t be together.”
Stephen opened his eyes and rolled his head to the side. He just looked at Leo and his heart clenched. He couldn’t ay he didn’t care about the raven-haired pretty boy. How many times had he seen him battle with pills and alcohol? How many times had he woken up in Leo’s bed… in Leo’s arms after an all night bender and outrageously kinky sex? How many times had Leo’s personal manservant walked in on them? Stephen chuckled and shook his head.
Leo looked up at the older boy and smirked, self-depreciatively. “What are you laughing at?”
Stephen continued to chuckle and then exhaled gustily. “I was just remembering those times that Lukas walked in on us, during those early morning ‘exercise’ sessions of ours.”
Leo nodded and laughed, as well. “I’m not sure he found it as funny as all that. He was seventy-eight years old, after all. Plus, the most conservative man in the existence of creation.”
“Can I join your chat?”
Stephen grinned widely and dropped his head back and saw Alec standing in the doorway. “You’re early.”
Alec smirked and shook his head. “Actually, I’m late. You must have lost track of time.” Alec looked over the young man sitting next to Stephen and held out his hand. “I’m Alec.”
Leo took the older man’s hand in his and shook. “I’m Leo.” Leo looked the man up and down and grinned. “You don’t work at the mill do you? You look more white collar, than blue.”
Alec nodded and pulled back his hand. “Leo? That’s an interesting name. Is that your astrological sign?”
Leo shook his head and smiled. “My parents gave me the name Patrick Leonard when I was born and one day I told them that I wanted to be called Leo. I was probably about four or five. It was right before I started kindergarten.”
“That’s a pretty big decision for such a young child to make.” Alec watched the boy’s expression and then turned to Stephen.
Leo looked between the older men and frowned. “Yeah, I guess it was, but Patrick Leonard is a little too strong of a name to live up to, for such a young child. Don’t you think?”
Alec walked around to the empty patio chair next to Stephen and took a seat. “My little girl wanted to be named Cleopatra Anastasia, until I told her what happened to the last famous women that carried those names.” Alec smiled fondly and looked over at Stephen who was laughing, almost uncontrollably. “Some kids know what they want when others just think they know. The last word is usually left up to the adults in their lives.” Alec watched Stephen’s face start to change from delighted laughter to annoyance.
Leo saw the exchange between the two men but he decided not to comment on it. “What do you do for a living, Alec?”
“I’m a psychiatrist.” Alec gave the boy a quick and easy smile. “I’ve had your father in for a few sessions. He’s a really nice man. How is your relationship with him?”
Leo nodded and returned the smile, a little less easily. “He’s a really nice man. He supports me in every way he can and I’ll always appreciate him for it.” Leo cocked his head to the side and watched the older man closely. “Didn’t you say that you have a daughter? How is your relationship with her?”
Alec sat back in his chair and chuckled. The boy was sharp witted. “She lets me support her in every way I can and I’ll always appreciate her for it.”
Stephen cleared his throat and sighed. “If you’ll excuse me, I think I’ll go check on my mom. She seemed to need my support, when I came in this afternoon. You two play nice while I’m gone.” Stephen got up from his chair and walked into the house, closing the backdoor behind him.
Alec watched the boy leave and then looked over at the young man sitting across from him. “I’m not asking you as a psychiatrist, but as Stephen’s friend… What are your intentions with him?”
Leo’s jaw dropped. “What the hell do you mean by that?” Leo almost spluttered he was so irritated. “You think that I’m after his ass or something?” Irritation quickly turned into rage. “I’ll clue you in somewhat, baby… I’ve already had that.”
Alec sat back in his chair and put the tips of his fingers together in a steeple-like formation. “I just wanted to know what you were after. Stephen’s a good boy and he should have someone who is going to leave him in the lurch.”
Leo nodded. “I see what it is. You’ve decided that you want him and you think the ex is stepping in on your territory.” Alec gave the younger boy his best look of confusion and Leo just shook his head. “You can’t tell me that you didn’t know that Stephen and I used to date. It had to be one of my father’s favorite subjects in your little sessions.” Leo laughed strangely and sighed. “Funny thing is, he liked Stephen. He liked him a lot. He still does.” Leo looked down at his well-manicured hands and smirked. There was a ring on his left ring finger that had been there for over a year and a half. He held it up for Alec to inspect. “Stephen has the matching one. He still wears it. I saw it the moment he walked in carrying the ice. Difference is, he carries it on a chain around his neck. His way of saying I’m still close to his heart.”
Alec nodded. This boy obviously still cared for Stephen, but if all that he heard was true, Leo had lost his one chance at making that relationship work. “I’m sorry if I brought up some bad memories, but you must understand my concern for the boy.”
Leo smirked, darkly. “I understand your lust for him and how it so quickly bloomed into love. I understand that you would probably do anything for him, sans castrating yourself…” Leo threw a look over at the older man. “Maybe even that. I also understand how you feel you can’t deserve his affection. Damn it, you think I never felt that way? I was a drug addict and a boozer, starting at the ripe old age of thirteen. Why did Stephen shine some of his light into my life?”
Alec frowned over this information. “I’m old enough to be his father. It’s hard to tell if I’m just trying to regain some youthfulness through Stephen or if I genuinely like the boy.”
Leo laughed and let his head drop back. “You are just trying to convince yourself that you don’t really like him. You know that it’s not that youthfulness shit.”
Alec frowned, but it quickly turned into a smile. “Maybe you should try to become a psychiatrist. You’d be a good one.”
Leo shook his head and yawned. “I’ve been to enough of ‘em to know that that’s not my thing. I’m just going to go ahead and take over my dad’s multi-million dollar business and try to learn to be happy with that.” Leo wiggled his eyebrows at the older man and snickered. “You got to learn to work with what you’ve got. Ya’ know?”
“What’s this? No mutilated corpses?” Stephen walked back out onto the back porch and smirked at his two friends. “I thought that you would both be dead by now.”
Leo laughed and shook his head. “Your friend is an alright guy, Stephen. I had my doubts at first, but I think I could get to like him.” Leo watched the boy’s face light up and his heart swelled. ‘Whatever makes you happy, love.’ He thought with a wistful smile. “So, what’s going on inside? Any barroom type brawlsi need to pull my father out of?”
Stephen shook his head. “The guys are just making bets on who is going to win the next pool match. Your dad is betting on Constantine.”
Leo stood up from his chair and swore. “He’s going to lose my nest egg, if he keeps making bets like that. I’ll see you guys a little later. I have to snatch away my father’s rose colored glasses.”
After Leo made his way inside, Alec smiled up at the blonde beauty and grabbed his hand. He pulled him down into the chair next to his and slowly moved in toward him. “I want you to know that I think you are a beautiful person, inside and out.”
Stephen tried to hide his shock, but it was nearly impossible. “Whu… What?” Stephen almost started to feel uncomfortable, with Alec taking up so much of his personal space. Not saying that it didn’t make his heart race in an extremely wonderful way.
Alec nodded and wet his lips with his tongue. The look of shock on Stephen’s face was priceless. “You are probably the sweetest and most openly honest young man I have ever met.”
‘Not about everything.’ Stephen thought as his heart sunk into his stomach.
Alec ran his hand down the side of Stephen’s face and leaned in to give him a kiss. The kiss was supposed to be short and sweet, but somehow it started to turn into a few short kisses that started to linger and stretch out. Alec licked the seam of Stephen’s lips and his heart started to stutter, when he heard the young man moan in the back of his throat. Alec pulled back slowly, and watched the boy suck in some much needed oxygen.
Stephen exhaled and then reached back for the man who left him wanton and wanting. He pulled Alec into his embrace, until the older man was kneeling in the vee of his legs. Stephen leaned into Alec and took the moment to just inhale his scent. He smelled like peppermints and aftershave. “God, you smell good.” Stephen leaned down further so he could lick the older man’s neck, where his pulse was beating erratically. He chewed on the soft skin and nuzzled Alec’s ear, before giving it a few short licks.
Alec shuddered and rubbed the back of the boy’s head. His hair was silky soft, as if he had just brushed it with a soft-toothed comb. Stephen started to mewl happily in his ear and Alec wasn’t sure what to do. “I’ve made up my mind Stephen. I want to be with you by any means necessary. The only problem is… I’m pretty positive that your parents would not approve.”
Stephen pulled back a few inches and leaned his forehead against Alec’s. “My mom knew about me and…” Stephen stopped himself and rephrased. “My mom knew that I was gay, already. She’s okay with it.”
Alec smiled sweetly and leaned in to brush his lips over the younger man’s. He pulled back and sighed. “Your mom is not the problem here. You father is, as am I. I’m an older man Stephen. Your dad finds out about us, he could try to charge me with seducing his little boy.”
Stephen let out a deep sigh. “I’m eighteen. It’s not like this started when I was fifteen or sixteen. Plus, my father doesn’t have to find out. Worse thing that could happen, is he could run after you with a shotgun.” Stephen joked.
“Well, I don’t think I’d enjoy that overly much.” Alec bit his bottom lip. “Is your mother good at keeping secrets from him?”
Stephen quirked a brow and shrugged. “Why do you ask?”
Alec frowned and looked over Stephen’s shoulder. “Because she’s watching us snuggle.”

“What’s this? No mutilated corpses?” Stephen walked back out onto the back porch and smirked at his two friends. “I thought that you would both be dead by now.”
Leo laughed and shook his head. “Your friend is an alright guy, Stephen.

Hmm… I’m pretty sure I won’t remember writing this, but I would still appreciate it you would review. If it’s total crap, I’ll just fix everything during the next chapter. Hmm…
Anyhow, anyway, and anywho…
Thank you for reading and please review!
