Mommy

Short one. I know, I know. Once I started writing it, it was just so short!

There is a song at work that plays. When it comes on I think of... hawthorne. Then I think of Chapter Do. Then I think of Mik and Paw. Then I think of them dancing. Then I think of them doing the people mating ceremony. I've never seen the Sidhe mating ceremony. But... *sigh* they dun mate for a good while, if they do at all.

I've spent the last two days working, sleeping and eating. Which is highly unfortunate. I woke up this morning and was twitching to write but couldn't and I got aggrivated with it all. Not writing when I want to write is the hardest thing for me. Just a bit crazy like that.

Like. When I write and then can't and I start counting how long it's been since I wrote and OMG it's so long until I get to write. It's rare that I count down while at work.

Anywho. There are a few tidbits in there. It makes me giggle and such. Not much for plot beyond one point that I'm moving towards. And uhm. Yeah.

I should just be like "yeah, three points" as per possible crazy plotting that you guys might not know about until the plot comes about later... but that would be evil.

Read, Review and Enjoy.

The Sidhe talked for a good long time, until the sun was beginning to set, before they turned to the two people, crouched still over the small seedling. Souse growled, Violet growled. The two moved away from the rest and Hohi watched them intently as Paw pushed Koln and Mik aside to sit between the two men. The small male placed a hand on Mik’s leg and patted Koln’s knee once before setting the hand in his own lap.

“Well?” Koln asked.

Mik placed his hand over Paw’s and leaned over to peck the Sidhe’s cheek. Paw smiled at him and gave him a quick kiss back before turning his attention, finally, to the impatient Koln.

“Old time tree.”

“It took you that long to decide… that this was an old time tree? This. Tiny little green thing that is growing in a random field? Considering how sacred it is, how did it get here? Why is it so small?”

“Old time tree start as seed from full old time tree. Then seed sprout into seedling. Seedling grow to sapling. Sapling to young tree. Young tree to big tree. Big tree to full old time tree,” Paw motioned over the sprout, “Koln not think old time tree pop out of ground as big old tree?”

“Well. No…” Koln sputtered, “but I thought… that… it would be majestic or something at least.”

“Eagle begin as ugly creature,” Paw muttered, “people begin as wrinkled pink, screaming things. What one is majestic that can claim to be beautiful from conception onward?”

“Kittens.”

“Besides kittens,” Paw muttered.

“Puppies?”

“Puppies cannot defend themselves,” Paw murmured. “Sharp teeth do naught against people hands. Sharp claws, sharp teeth, howling. These do things against people. But besides kittens. Nothing can exist as majestic, it must earn the right to be as such. Old time trees are not planted lightly. They cannot survive in soil too wet or too dry. Many a tribe have planted a seed and sat by and waited and waited only to have the seed not sprout. Or when the seed finally sprouts, to have it shrivel. At times when it sprouts it becomes stunted. Then it is not an old time tree. Or if the tree grows to sapling and becomes a different kind of tree.”

“But what you plant is what you get.”

“You are what you eat,” Paw murmured, “same be true for old time tree. Sidhe rest hopes and dreams on tree. One bad Sidhe and tree no grow. Talk that we have of between us right now is of… issues.”

“Paw. Is it an old time tree?”

“Yes. Much talk of soil. We wish to investigate. No people touch. No fence to confine. No digging of soil. Can this of be?”

Koln shrugged, “it can be arranged. I suppose.”

“Good stuff. Now. We like to come back ‘nother time, and play and such. And Koln can bring plants like Mik say he can bring and we plants them because people not know how to do. People can watch and learn, but first plants and how to plant plants, need be explained.”

“Alright…”

“And we’sa want Mik’s mommy.”

“What?” Mik cried out, a strangled sound that he was mildly surprised at.

“We’sa want Mik’s mommy. She know garden stuff, he say land and tell Paw about land. She make all kinds grow there. Sos. Sidhe want Mik’s mommy to grow our land. Doable?”

Mik rubbed his face and wondered why Paw couldn’t just speak like a people when it came to such serious topics… or… it was because Paw knew it was a very serious topic and wanted to make it seem. Not so…

Mik lost the thought and sighed.

“-enough pay.”

“What?” Mik muttered.

“I don’t think we could offer your mother enough pay,” Koln responded, “even if we pay her what we pay Mik, the chance of her accepting the job.”

“Tell her about Sidhe,” Paw murmured, “mommy need know who else plays in garden,” a small nod, “oh. And Essuan say tall boy with pink roots peeing on tree over there and two males sexing over there and down over there is latrine and latrine bad place to be. Bad smell.”

“…” Koln blinked at Paw, “what, no description of the two males?”

“One tall, blonde hair, holds himself not as dominant but dominant in sex. Other dark hair, sweats lots and taller than most. Or… they’s likes to do it up against tree with dark one above ground. Two nights ago, in rain, they’s met. Dark one’s blood spilt on wood bits over there some day ago.”

Koln made a gargling sound and Mik tried not to laugh at the serious look on Koln’s face.

Paw looked from Koln to Mik and back to Koln, “So. Koln get mommy and Mik shudd-up about it and we’s gets what we’s wants. Now. Please to take Sidhe home, afore truce end in fight.”

“Fight?” Koln muttered, standing quickly, “I’ll get the bus.”

“What truce?” Mik whispered at Paw.

Paw sighed, “Souse has made truce with Violet. Strongest tribe can take tree but no want blood spilt over tree. Violet agree but tension high. Two males from affore are no happy. First person to cross line, blood everywhere. No want that. And Mik’s mommy is useful. Not just a’cause Paw want meet Mik’s mommy.”

“Mother.”

“Mommy.”

“Mother.”

“Mommy, if’n Mik ever wants Paw to popsicle him.”

“Mommy it is,” Mik muttered.
