There was laughter as a box dropped onto the ground. Zev chuckled at the three bodies hanging onto him. One was on each arm and another around his neck. “Why don’t you go bug Akira?”

Ev swung his legs as Zev turned around. “He’s on the phone!” He swore Ev had to have some monkey in him. Already at the age of five and he had been stuck in a tree ten times. The child could climb anything when he wanted to. He just hoped Ev wouldn’t try to climb the side of the house, again.

“Yep, talking to Aunty Maria!” Rowdy was clinging to Zev’s arm a grin on his face. He was all smiles. When he fell or got hurt he’d stand up, brush himself off, and give a big grin. The boy had more patients then he did. There was probably one time Rowdy got mad and it was when an older kid pushed Ev off of something. Akira had to grab the boy or risk a fight.

The wolf tipped his head back to see Kieren Looking down at him. “What about you got something to say?” Dark brown hair moved as he shook his head. A frown was on Zev’s face. Kieren barely talked but they knew he could. He was curious about everything and the only time he came to them scared was when he had nightmares.

Akira was worried about the boy when it seemed like they were starting to get worse. But when they decided to move they all stopped. They had found a house near a patch of woods so the kids could have a place to explore after Zev and Akira deemed it safe. The house had four rooms, two baths and was one floor. They had been moving stuff for a few days. Soon the boxes would be unpacked and family settled far from that city.

The back door opened with Akira holding a box in his arms his phone tucked between his ear and shoulder. “Okay. I get it.” He sat the box down. “You’re going to move to where?”

Zev looked over at him, “What’s up?” He sat Kieren down and then got the two on his arms off before he stood next to Akira. Stormy gray eyes looked at him. “What’s up?” The frown on Akira’s face was making him worried. The last he heard their kid had turned four last month and there was a second on the way.

“That’s on the other side of the mountains. Are you sure?” The wolf leaned closer and he could pick up a few words. “Okay. Okay. Just let me know when everything has settled down… Yeah… No he’s trying to listen in.”

~”Helloo Zev!!”~ The brunette jerked his head away and gave a curse at the loud shout.

“Hi Maria!”

“Don’t encourage her.” He kissed Akira on the forehead as he rushed off to chase down the three five year olds. “I’ll talk to you later it’s time to calm down the three trouble bringers… bye Maria.” He closed the phone as he snagged a running Rowdy. “Come on.”

“No!” His dark blond head shook as Akira carried him into one of the rooms at the end of the hall. A large futon was sitting on the floor. He sat him on the bed just as Zev carried two more in.

The other two boys both were sat down. “Okay time to take a nap.”

“No!” Zev covered the three of them with a blanket. The three lumps sat under the blanket and he looked at Akira.

“You go start.”

Akira left the room as he heard the shouts then a loud yelp. That sounded like Zev. He rolled his gray eyes at the loud laughter that followed. Five minutes later it was quiet. He had half a box unpacked and was stacking the dishes away. Ten minutes later he was looking for a place to put the plates when two arms wrapped around his waist. “So how did you get them to agree?” He finally placed them on the counter planning to put them away later.

“Extra snacks when they wake up. That and I have to take a nap with them next time.” He gave a soft laugh as Zev’s face was pressed against his neck. “Mmmm A-kira…” The brunette leaned back against Zev’s chest. “Kids are asleep do we really have to do this right now?” A tongue flicked over the mark on his shoulder.

“Y…eah…” He felt hands slid down to his hips. Zev nipped at Akira’s neck. “Zev…” His emotions slipped past his barrier that he had up.

“It can wait.”

“But…”

“It’s been almost a week with no time for us.” Sharp canines grazed over his neck. He gripped at Zev’s arms that were rubbing over his stomach pushing his shirt up.

“Zev… ngh… need to finish…”

“Come on we can finish after.”

Fingers ghosted over the waistband of his pants. He breath hitched as another trailed up his chest. Teeth tugged at earrings in Akira’s ears. “Zev…” His head tipped further to the side. A choked moan spilled from Akira as deft fingers ran over his nipple. Teeth raked over his exposed neck. Akira turned around and tugged Zev’s head down.

The two groaned into the kiss as Zev pushed him up against the kitchen counter. He nipped at Akira’s bottom lip. “Zev… room…” A low groan came from Zev when fingers found and tugged harder at his hair. “Zev! Room!”

He lifted Akira up and headed for the room first room. The door was kicked closed. Both dropped onto an air mattress. Zev pushed as far away as he could get with Akira’s mouth nipping and sucking at his neck. A groan rolled out of Zev. “Akira…”

There was a soft knock on the door and Akira gave a muffled growl. The wolf stood as he walked over to the door. Opening it up, he found Kieren looking up at him. “Hey what’s wrong.”

“Can’t sleep.” Akira sat up as he pat the bed. The five year ran around Zev’s legs and climbed onto the air mattress. He sat next to Akira as Zev sat down on the mattress.

“Why can’t you sleep?”

“Not tired.” He looked down at the small child. Then he poked him in the head. The small boy fell over laughing.

“You’re not tired the one who stays up all night just to come wake us up.” Turning the brunette motioned to the door. Zev looked over to see two pairs of eyes watching them.

“Get in here.” They ran over and jumped onto the bed. “Easy I don’t want a popped bed.”

The three climbed under the blankets as Akira laid back. Just as Zev was standing Rowdy and Ev shouted, “Wulf!”

“Not on the air bed. I don’t like the hard floor.”

Akira smirked, “Then sleep on the floor.”

“Haha, I’ll go get the futon.” He watched as Zev walked out of the room. Rolling over off the air mattress he motioned for the kids to get up. Once everything and the kids were off he tipped it up against the wall just as Zev walked back in. The bed was tossed onto the floor. “Alright on the bed.” The three climbed onto the futon with pillows in tow. With blanket in hand Akira covered up the kids and laid down on top of the blanket.

A few seconds later Zev came padding out of the bathroom in his full wolf form. He shook his body and walked over. His body slipped up under the covers on the other side of the kids. Rowdy curled up against Zev with Kieren behind him and Ev between Kieren and Akira. Zev pressed his nose against Akira’s head. Stormy gray eyes looked at him a soft smile on his face. “Next time.”

The wolf snorted and licked him. “Hey!”

There was a mutter and both looked down to find the three asleep. “Look’s liked their asleep.” A soft murr followed as Zev laid his head down. The brunette rolled over slightly and reached his arm out above the three sleeping heads. His hand rested on Zev’s larger paw.


When Akira woke up he could hear shouting. Akira looked at his phone to check the time. He only slept for an hour. Well there was an hour of work down the drain. Sitting up he found a blanket covering him. Tossing it to the side he stood up. He left the room scratching his head. His hand went to his back pocket to pull out a tin. Stopping he opened the tin to pull out a cigarette. The slim male leaned up against the door frame to watch Zev chase Rowdy around the table.

He walked towards the back door and when Zev asked where he was going he waved the lighter in the air. As he walked out he lit the cig. Once the stick was lit he stuffed the lighter in his pocket as he took a breath. A few seconds passed as he let out a thin stream of smoke. He could hear sounds as Rowdy came running out on to the back porch followed by Ev.

Crouching he looked out at the truck and trailer. His fingers rubbed over the scar on the left side of his face. He found it quiet humorous that the only thing the healing gift fixed was the life crippling injuries everything else went to hell. His leg healed fine he could still run and that’s what matters. He wanted to be able to run next to his family. As he pulled the cigarette from his mouth a small body tackled him.

The brunette grunted as he reached behind to tickle the small body. Ev started to laugh and he ran away from Akira’s hand. “That’s not fair!”

“Jumping on my back isn’t either. Never sneak up on someone without a counter.” He heard the childlike giggle. “What’s so funny?” His shoulders stiffened right before a wet tongue ran up the back of his neck and head. “ZEV!”

There was a deep rumbling bark as he whipped around to glare at the wolf. He was fully in his wolf form. As he glared at him the black wolf shifted back onto his haunches to scratch at his neck with his hind leg. He huffed and turned around. A large muzzle rested on his shoulder as the cigarette was placed back in his mouth. He reached up to scratch at wolf’s ears. “Go play with them before they tackle both of us.”

The wolf murred and then took off down the steps Ev and Rowdy chasing after him. Kieren sat down next to Akira a juice box in his hands. There was slurping coming from the small boy. He looked at Kieren and chuckled. Blue gray and pale gray eyes looked up at him. The straw moved from his mouth as he smiled. “Why don’t you go play?”

He shrugged his shoulders. Then stood up. The small boy ran back into the house and when he came back out he had traded the juice box for Akira’s ashtray. He sat it down next to Akira. “Hey where was this? I’ve been looking for it since we started packing.”

“B-a-t-h-r-o-o-m.”

“Bathroom. So it was in that box.” He sat down the lumpy made ashtray. It was a gift of three one from each of them. It was a gift from his last birthday. Jett had helped them make the three ashtrays seeing as his tend to disappear when he needed them. Somehow Zev was involved. He knew he was just could catch the wolf in the act. So now there were three, from the kids, so now Zev couldn’t do anything to them. One sat in the kitchen, the living room and the bedroom. He never smoked inside only outside.

There was a hiss next to him. He glanced over to see Kieren with a yoyo it went down only to come back up. It was a wooden one. “Is that the one Zero made?”

“Yeah.” He scrunched up his face his tongue sticking out slightly as the small boy tried to pull off a trick. A laughing Ev tackled into Kieren causing the yoyo to fly out of the boys hand and skitter across the floor. He glared at the blue eyed boy. Black hair fell into blue eyes so the boy shook his head.

Akira raised an eyebrow as Kieren kicked Ev. The small body tackled his brother who was a good four inches over the smaller boy. The two pinned each other and scuffled till Akira snagged Kieren off his brother. The smaller boy squirmed as Zev picked the other up by the back of his shirt. Rowdy was sitting on his back a large grin on his face.

He stubbed out the cig in the ashtray. “I’m going to finish unpacking.” Standing he sat the glaring Kieren on the ground. His body froze when he felt a tingling on the back of his neck. The brunette jumped over Zev just as a figure came shouting from the sky. He let out a curse as a body hit him. It took everything to keep from dropped to his knees. Zero was slumped against Akira dazed. The younger male let out a whine. “Hey you okay?”

“Hur-tssss…” He sighed as he slung his arm over his shoulders. A black rift appeared a few feet away from them.

“There he is!” Daisuke walked over and looked at Zero. “Kid you got to take it easy. Start off small or you’ll end up dazed for a good five minutes.” The older brunette stood and looked at Akira. “Hello Akira.”

“So what brings you to my home?”

“Your brother that’s what.” He made a face as the other male gave a mutter. “Might as well rest some. He’s going to be out of it for a while.” His onyx eyes saw the trailer. “Need any help?”

“If you want to you can I’m not going to ask.”

Just before he could say anything two small bodies attached to his legs. “Grandpa Dai!” He laughed as he bent to scoop up the two oldest of the triplets.

“Well hello! And how are my grandsons doing?”

Ev gave a grin as he beat Rowdy to the punch and told him everything. The middle child went on about how Rowdy was still bad at howling and then jumped to how he could climb better then the three of them. His arms would wave excitedly and then the two brothers argued over the comment on Rowdy’s howling. Daisuke just nodded his head as he fought not to smile at the sheer amusement of the argument.

At that time Akira had helped Zero to the steps to sit down. “I’ll go get you some water.” Kieren was sitting on the steps again his yoyo in his hands. Zero glanced over his head hanging to the side. He watched as the yoyo went up and down. Then the youngest tried to attempt a trick.

“Which one is it this time?” It had taken a year and a half to get Zero out of that shell of his. When he did they found him to be a good talker when he wasn’t being quiet.

“Sidewinder.”

Akira sat the cup next to Zero and crouched next to Kieren. “Still at it?”

“Yes.” The boy made that face again where his tongue stuck out a bit as he tried again and again.

“You sit here and practice while we finish unpacking.”

“Okay.” He stopped briefly as Akira ruffled his hair. When the hand pulled away Kieren shook his head causing his brown hair to fall flat. The screen door closed behind them as Zev quickly bounded up the steps in his wolf form. As Daisuke walked up Kieren glanced at his brothers as they jumped to the ground.

Both snagged a hand and dragged the boy to his feet. “Work on your tricks later let play a game!” Ev grinned at him and Rowdy hooted as they ran over to trailer. “Let play hide and seek.”

Kieren sighed as they finally let go. Tucking the yoyo in his pocket he was caught off when both shouted ‘Not it’s.’ He shrugged and dropped onto the ground to start counting. Once he was at ten he stood to go find them.

Daisuke chuckled at the sight of the two older boys fleeing to go hide. “Damn I miss being a kid.” He looked at Zero. “Keep an eye on them while we work inside?” His head nodded before he took a drink from the glass. He watched as the three played games. A few hours passed as all three ended up being it a good five times. The sun was slowly setting when they decided to play one more round.

Akira chose then to appear next to Zero and shout, “Come on its getting dark!” There were two loud shouts against the idea. “Don’t make me come out there.” Kieren was already walking up the steps. “Go clean up. You’ve got dirt on your face.” Soon the other two grumpily climbed the stairs into the house.

Zero stood and stretched. “You and dad will be staying the night.”

“Okay.” He yawned as a hand scratched at his shoulder length hair. “I’m beat.”

“Zev’s going to head out in a few to get food. Better tell him what you like.” He watched as Zero yawned. “Don’t fall asleep you’re like a rock.”

“M’kay.” The screen door closed behind the two as the pouch light turned on. A few minutes passed and Zev came loping out. He climbed into the vehicle. A few seconds later he was driving down a dirt road.

Two yellow eyes watched as the car left. His ears twitched as his eyes locked onto the house once again. Those eyes blinked and then vanished. A white and black slender tail flicking was the last thing to be seen. They were safe for now. He couldn’t wait to meet him face to face.
