Where My Heart Lies
Dear Rhapsody,
I wrote a letter to my mother the other day and told her the truth. If she does not answer me will you do me the favor of at least letting me know if you find out if she received it?
Thank you for your last letter. I do not know what else to say to your words. I guess I never knew some of the things that go on in your mind, but I appreciate your honesty and will still await your every word as you are the only light in a place of darkness. I chose to come here myself but it seems it was not what I was ready for. I’m not quite sure what it is yet that I am ready for.
I am sorry this is short but my time is limited. Looking forward to hearing from you again.
Sora
Dear Sora,
Your mom received the letter. She will probably be writing to you, she did not seem as disappointed in you as you think she might be. I actually think it made your father a bit proud that you made the decision to do this with your life instead of remaining wishy washy about things. They will never admit to it, especially in front of my mother whom your mother is still a bit cold with since the last incident, but they are trying. It is hard to be a good parent when everything around you is falling apart.
I wish, in many ways, you had told me how you felt so long ago, before I felt like I was torn in so many different directions. You have always been such a nice guy and if I had known sooner or thought sooner I might not have been so distant later. I could not forgive you for many things, though, that I am healing from. Until then I promise nothing but to be here when you return.
I look forward to your every letter,
Rhapsody
Ashe was waiting by the door when his little sister nearly skipped back into the house from mailing out her latest letter to Sora. She looked beautiful in the spring sunlight and he wondered how it had come that it was nearly summer already, and how had life progressed when the house was in turmoil. Fuji and Amatsu, who had been trying to be the good parents they should have been, had become crushed when Noriko nearly completely stole every piece of property that the two of them owned. Their names had disappeared from paper work, their fortune disappearing, and suddenly the fortune they had worked so hard to build had nearly disappeared. Rhapsody and Ashe were very understanding when Fuji and Amatsu pleaded with them to let them go for a few weeks to fix the mess they were in. Ashe, feeling mostly guilty for it all, had conceded, as had Rhapsody, being the diligent daughter she was, immediately.
“Ashe,” she smiled at him, though she was still cautious when she was around him, especially now that they were alone. “What are you doing?”
“I was waiting for you, actually,” he admitted honestly when the door closed behind her and they were alone in the foyer. It made Rhapsody hesitate like a deer in the headlights. Ashe reached out for her and she pulled her body back, but he caught her easily and pulled her to him. “Tell me you regret it,” he said to her. “Tell me you regret everything.”
“Ashe,” she pleaded, “for days you have been like a brother again, please don’t ahh,” she could not finish her sentence, his hands were under her skirt and pushing at the crotch of her underwear, pushing further up and against her clit until she had moaned out and had to cling to him as he pushed her against the wall.
“Don’t what?” Ashe asked of her, pushing harder until she cried out once more. “Tell me you do not want me, in any way, and I will stop.” His lips traveled across her neck, across her collarbone, caressing skin that had been neglected as long as he had been away. He touched her in all of the right ways that was making her body come alive, pushing him away was the hardest thing she ever did.
“Ashe, no,” she said in a surprisingly steady voice. He looked to her almost as surprised as she felt that she did it. She took a few steps away from him to steady her knees and her body. “Ashe… even if we… I mean…” She took a deep breath and tried again. “Ashe, I don’t know what I want at this point. You will sway my decision if you touch me. Please let me know what I want before you force me to make a decision too early.”
“Well put,” he said a bit impressed with her backbone. He stepped further away from her and gazed her way. “I can respect that,” he said and quickly began to walk away.
“Just like that?” she called after him. “Just like that you walk away from me?”
Ashe turned to her for one moment and shook his head. “I need a shower, dear sister,” he said politely, and finished his way up the stairs.
Rhapsody let out a nervous bought of laughter before sliding to the floor and curling her knees to her chest. Was that the right thing to do? She barely even knew her own mind anymore, but she knew how her body felt and the ache that was throbbing not only between her legs but in her heart. Was the ache for love? For need? Was it for Ashe? Or was it for someone else? Rhapsody shivered and stood slowly and made her way to her room, glancing only for a moment at Ashe’s door. No matter what she decided she could not toy with him forever, but in many ways, did he not deserve it? With that in mind she went into her room and hid herself in her bed for the rest of the day.
