It shouldn’t be romantic to sit in a brightly-lit fast food restaurant, but it was. Sander sat close to Kenta, eating a burger and sucking at a straw, quietly asking questions and telling Kenta everything he wanted to know.
“No, I don’t study. I work. I barely finished school at all, I’m afraid. I left home when I was fifteen… I work at the post chamber of an office.”

“I wouldn’t have thought that,” Kenta said surprised. “You seem intelligent enough, if you ask me.”

“Yeah, well…” Sander shrugged. “It’s hard to find a good job without diplomas. What do you do?”

“I’m a teacher,” Kenta said. He laughed when Sander couched. “Social studies,” he explained with a grin. “For teenagers to the age of sixteen.”

“Oh… the difficult age. How do you cope?”

“Very well, actually. They like me, I believe. Maybe because of my looks, I don’t know, but I have the lowest absence rate of the whole school.”

“Do they know you’re gay?”

Kenta nodded, sucking at his straw. “Of course,” he said, smacking his lips. “I never made it a secret. People talk if you try to hide yourself. Do you like blues?”

“Huh?” Sander was taken aback by the sudden change of subject. “Blues is before my time, I’m afraid…”

“So what? You either like it or you don’t. What kind of cars do you like? I have an old Mini Cooper. A red one. It’s very cute and cozy; ideal for romantic rides through the country…”

Kenta had shifted closer, and was looking intensely into Sander’s eyes. Sander felt a little shy under the stare. “Is that an invitation?” he asked quietly.

“Yes,” Kenta nodded. “Do you accept?” His hand crept over Sander’s thigh under the table, and he kneaded the muscles. “Tomorrow, maybe? We could have a picnic… I will bring everything we need and pick you up.”

“Sounds nice,” Sander admitted. He felt a little warm now, rather than shy. Kenta had strong hands. He reached down, weaving their fingers together. “Maybe we shouldn’t go home too late, then.”

“Yeah. Where shall I pick you up tomorrow? No, don’t give me your address yet, naïf bunny… I might be a stalker or something.”

“You?” Sander looked at the kind eyes, and the warm smile. “I wouldn’t mind if you would stalk me, Kenta,” he said with passion.

“Mh. Let’s get out of here and back into the dark. I really want to kiss you.”

They quickly left. There was a park nearby, and they began to stroll over the paths, holding hands. They were slowly walking towards Sander’s apartment, he noticed. He wouldn’t need a taxi. “Can I have your phone number?”

Kenta reached in his pocket, and took his cell. “Let me phone you now…” He entered the numbers Sander mentioned, waited, and disconnected. “There. Now give me one of your delicious kisses.”

Sander followed Kenta to a tree, and leaned against it. He wrapped his arms tightly around the man’s waist, happily receiving the demanding lips. This man tasted amazing… He explored the slender body, sliding his hands under the jacket, and moaned pleased. “I’m getting all worked up,” he sighed.

“Me too… Mm…” Kenta pushed his tongue deeply in Sander’s mouth, pressing against him. He finished the kiss with a satisfied smack. “You’re sweet, cute, and pretty, bunny-San… I didn’t expect to find someone like you in that grubby old club.”

Despite his fuzzy mind, Sander smiled at the other pet name. Kevin called him Sandy, and Kenta apparently liked to call him a bunny. “Well, I didn’t expect to meet someone like you the first time, either. How come you’re still single? How old are you?”

“I’m thirty-four.” Kenta kept an arm around Sander’s shoulders, and began to walk again. “I wasn’t always single… My last boyfriend cheated on me, so I dumped him. I know it’s common for gays to be promiscuous. But I don’t swing that way.”

“He cheated on you?” Sander stared at Kenta. “Why would anyone be unfaithful to you? You’re so beautiful, and handsome, and warm… You kiss divinely and by gods you’re sexy.” He looked him up and down.

Kenta grinned a bit. He looked away. “Don’t stop,” he joked. Seriously, he continued, “Tell me where I can pick you up, bunny. For what I heard in the past hour or so, I definitely want to take you out for a ride. I want to get to know you. If you want that too, of course.”

Sander stopped walking. He pulled Kenta against him, looking up. “Pick me up at noon, at the exit of this park. Over there,” he gestured with his head. “I live close by.”

“I’ll be there,” the man promised. He sighed softly, running his fingers through the sleek locks. “We better part now. I’m tempted to keep you.”

“Call a cab, and we’ll kiss until it gets here,” Sander suggested. He felt warm at the man’s words. Kenta didn’t let go of him as he ordered a taxi with his cell, and kissed him as soon as he disconnected. They kept word. The kiss lasted until the taxi driver honked.

“See you tomorrow,” Kenta sighed. “Noon, here. Right?”

“I promise. Sweet dreams, beautiful…” Sander waved as the cab drove away, and waited until it disappeared. With a deep, pleased sigh, he began to walk. He dug for his cell phone. First, he saved Kenta’s number. Then he phoned Roy.

‘San!’ Roy said sleepily, but worried. ‘Are you alright?’

“Hell yeah,” Sander said happily. “I met the most beautiful man in the world, and he kisses divinely. We’re going for a picnic tomorrow. He’s so gorgeous…” He heard how Roy walked around, bumping into things. “I honestly wanted to take him home, you know, but I didn’t because of what you said. I just wanted to tell you.”

‘I’m happy for you,’ Roy said. He flushed the toilet. ‘Be careful, okay? I’m glad you didn’t take him home with you. Better get to know him first.’

“Mmhmm, like you did with Drake, right?”

‘That’s different! I knew I was gay all along, and I dreamed of having a man like him. You had only one experience with god-knows-who, and suddenly you want to dedicate yourself to men.’

“A man, not men,” Sander corrected his friend. He stepped into his apartment building, and climbed the stairs. “He’s a teacher. A super hot one with tattoos and gray hair. But anyway, I’ll let you sleep. I’m home safe now.”

‘I bet you won’t sleep right away,’ Roy smirked in the phone. ‘So who fucked you, San?’

“Nice try, Roy, but I won’t tell you, because it was his first time too, and his only time. He’s still straight.”

‘And it happened during our vacation?’ Roy didn’t want to let it rest, despite Sander’s protests. ‘Kevin… You slept with Kevin, didn’t you!’

Sander sighed. He had locked his door, and was undressing without breaking connection. “Yes, I slept with Kev. We both enjoyed it, but I think he likes women more. Leave it, alright? Don’t tell him you know. Please?”

‘I can keep a secret, San… I’m glad I know who you slept with. So what’s his name?’

“Kenta. He’s half Japanese.” Roy made a approving sound, and he laughed. “Yeah. He’s goddamn handsome, Roy. I’ll make photos of him as soon as I get the chance.”

‘They say beauty is only skin deep, remember?’

“Yeah, yeah… As if you didn’t fall for Drake’s looks first, hm? By the way, he approached me, not the other way around. He likes the blues and old minis, and I believe he’s a romantic at heart because he will take me out for a ride and a picnic tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it…”

‘Enjoy.’ Roy clearly meant it. ‘And tell me everything later. Sweet dreams now, San.’

“Thank you for listening,” Sander said warmly. “Sleep well.” He disconnected, took a shower, and crawled in bed with his phone. He stared at Kenta’s number for a while. Perhaps he could phone him to wish goodnight…?
Nah, that would be clingy. He put it away, and curled up. His cell buzzed.

‘Goodnight, sweet little bunny,’ the text message read.

Sander laughed aloud. Clingy my ass, he thought, typing back. ‘Sweet dreams, handsome.’ He slept like baby, and his dreams were great.
