Chapter Six

Warnings: attempted rape, serious blood (could be considered blood play), secret(s) revealed!

"So you\'re back?" Edmon chuckled loudly. The hideous man held a blanket around himself; he hadn\'t chopped or bought any wood to heat the house.

"Where\'s mom?" James demanded. He was directed to the room beside him, yet in an instant he was on his knees. Fury rose in his heart. Edmon had tripped him to get to business. Although that did cut out the hesitation.

"You came knowingly..." The man told arrogantly, "Don\'t be mad at me. You deserve every bit you get."

Edmon spat on his son\'s face and grabbed the blond hair with a violent temperament. Letting the blanket drop, James was disgusted to find the man had his cock waiting, knowing that the son-mother relationship would call to him. Though before the putrid mass was forced down his throat, a guttural scream pierced the air.

James dropped to the ground without the hand pulling him up and Edmon\'s shrieks grew even more. A bloody hand fell next to him, laying on the wood-floor disgraced. The teen noticed it was the same hand had that held him.

Looking up, more curious than scared, James saw Balaur... biting off a chunk from Edmon\'s neck, spitting it to the floor, and... letting the blood gush into his open mouth. There were fangs. Fangs that pierced raw flesh and literally sucked the life out of Edmon While the man\'s screams diminished, it seemed to be raining blood.

James stared up at Balaur. The creature\'s gaze was feral, if not crazed, and a thick red coat plastered on his mouth; the sanguine liquid dripping from his chin, his clothes were soaked as well. But the most startling thing was his eyes. Like a sun exploding, white, red, black, and orange colors suffocated his iris and painted him to be a powerful creature without need to interpret the surroundings.

What was he?

The thing tossed Edmon\'s carcass to the side without a care. It looked down, at the shocked teenager. A smile played on its lips after wiping away the red gleam on its face. "I told you. Someone would die."

Balaur\'s usual foreign accent was emphasized by this twisted show of strength. Its voice imprisoned the many that had died by its bloody hands. James stared utterly astounded. "You sick..."

"Now do you see why my beloved could not accept me? I am a beast meant to feed on human flesh."

"Y-you\'re a demon?" James asked in a pathetic, vulnerable tone. His fear emanated from him in waves of pheromones.

"Nearly. A vampire would be more precise." Balaur paused a moment, realizing that this fear wasn\'t exactly towards him. "Why are you not running?"

"Y-you\'re not... gonna kill me, are you?" James knew the answer already. His death was uncalled for.

"Of course not." The vampire replied in all honesty. "Now, where is your mother?"

The teen pointed the room out, slightly distressed when Balaur opened the door and stepped inside, leaving a bloody trail in his wake. "W-what\'re you doing?"

"Saving her life." He replied, sitting beside Margaretha gracefully- a strange sight with blood covering most of his clothes- and placed her limp arm against his mouth.

"H-hey! Sto-"

"If you want her to live, you will not stop me." Balaur directed. He effectively pierced her skin without a moment to waste. A few seconds passed without him moving, sucking her diseased blood. Balaur finished by licking the wound and wiping his mouth.

"She tastes like you." Balaur mumbled, reveling in the flavor a bit too much. This taste made him thirst for more, despite the large meal he just consumed. Edmon\'s blood was thin and was rather disgusting, though. Nothing compared to this beauty.

"W-what?" Dumbfounded, James stared at the vampire with confusion.

"By biting someone, I can thwart any illness possessed" Balaur explained, "Last night, your coughing fit required the calming reagent in my venom. I have interrupted your sickness twice now."

"I don\'t remember..."

"That is hardly relevant. Your mother will be fine now." The vampire said nonchalantly; the blood covering him deflected this calm demeanor. "However, we should leave before she wakes."

"C-could you move the body? I don\'t want her to see him that way." James pointed to Edmon\'s mangled corpse, not in the least daunted by it.

Without agreeing, Balaur waved his hand and the body... disintegrated... The bloody mess disappeared as well, the only reminder of what had happened was the blanket lying in crumbles where he once stood. Balaur\'s clothes sparkled; to suggest blood had sullied the perfection would be heresy. Sighing with satisfaction, James stretched away his anxiety.

"You do not posses any fear towards me?" Balaur asked. Though this question could be answered by inspecting James\' care-free attitude shown.

"Not now. At first you scared me." He answered truthfully, then laughed when he added, "Just don\'t expect me to let you suck my blood."

James saw the distinct air of disappointment shrouded around Balaur. Had he really expected to? "W-we better get out of here. Rehearsal already began."

The entire orchestra noticed the two males walk into the room. One for being late. Two... for being together. From the show on their first meeting, Balaur seemed to despise every sick portion of their favorite violinist.

Balaur shooed away the substitute conductor, an amateur from the saxophone section, and flipped through the pages of music sitting in front of him. He waited until James had settled himself in his seat, violin propped up in a playing position, while actively ignoring Raoul\'s imploring questions, to begin the selected piece.
