Chapter Five

Skif would have sworn that the growling sound of his empty stomach echoed off the hollowed walls of the cave chamber, demanding to be filled. His cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he wrapped both arms around his midsection as the gnawing ache of hunger made itself known again.

The beast stared down at him, his clawed hand still out-stretched, a look of confusion on his scaly face. Skif wished with all he might the infernal organ would be silent, least it remind the beast before him it had yet to break its own morning fast.

It had been three or four days since his last decent meal; small bits of burnt pan bread, the moldy pieces of cheese which the Knight had thought to were too moldy and a dirt-cover hunk of grizzled fat meat that had dropped from one of the Knight’s daggers that he had managed to save from being kicked into the fire. It had been one of the better meals he had gotten on the insane race to slay the dragon. He refused to think of the Knights’ offerings he had been forced to consume the night before as any type of food despite all their jesting.

His attention was stolen back to the monstrous beast before him and as the Beast growled low, sending frightening vibrations through Skif’s already trembling body and the stone floor beneath his feet. The Dragon’s extended hand balled into a fist three times the size of his head, the glowing ball’s light blacked out by the scaly fingers it was incased in. Skif began to slowly back up hoping that space would free him from being the first available target of the Dragon’s erratic mood swings.

The Dragon seemed to cool down a bit when it noise Skif retreat, to the far wall of the chamber. Its shucks it head as if rebuking itself for its own behaviour, before turning it intelligent, little, blue eyes back to Skif. Thankfully this time the Dragon didn’t try to get close, but simply gently rolled the glowing stone to Skif’s feet.

Clearly the Dragon wanted to have it.

With his own eye locked on the Dragon, Skif knelt down to retrieve the gift again. It wouldn’t hurt to play along--it was not like a little stone of Posrothaina was going to bite. ‘Unlike its scaly giver. Okay, Surviving with a Dragon as your new roommate Rule Number One: Always accept their gifts.’

Holding the stone close to his chest, Skif cleared his raspy voice to speak. “Thank you Milord Dragon for you thoughtful gift of light. I am truly honored by your kindness.” He even managed to proper bow, albeit a very hasty one, as he didn’t want to lose eye contact.

‘Rule Two: Make sure to be properly respectful and thankful, especially if they choose not to eat you. Hey, if I keep this up AND SURVIVE THIS, maybe I should write a book.’ Skif smirked internally.

The dragon did its bubbling hissing thing again that almost started to sounded like laughter as Skif watched more tension drain from his body. The corners of it mouth tipped up as if it was giving him a warm scaly smile. At least Skif hoped it was a smile and not an evil smirk before biting his head off.

Much to Skif’s surprise the dragon sat back on his haunches and started making many gestures with his massive hands. First it pointed at Skif, then at the floor repeatedly. Despite the simplest of the gestures it took Skif time to figure it out. But who would really could blame poor Skif? It wasn’t every day that a creature of legend appears before you, strips you and kidnaps you, carrying you off to it underground lair gives you light and then tries to communicate with you using hand signals.

“You want me to stay here….. Milord Dragon?” The title was tacked on at the end, but somehow felt right and it followed Rule Two that so far seemed to be working. ‘Plus I am starting to think the Dragon was either really good at reading facial expressions or the beast….. I mean the Dragon, is psychic. Nah.’

The Dragon nodded it head adamantly but Skif didn’t wasn’t sure it was to what he said of what he thought. As if sure that Skif would understand him, he started another set of gestures. The Dragon pointed at himself then at the darkened cave passage beyond the room. He did this several times until Skif said, “You are leaving, Milord Dragon?!?” It came out have sounding like a question and a statement at the same time.

Again the Sapphire Dragon nodded his massive head before repeating the gesture once more, only this time he added a few more. The Lord Dragon pointed at himself then away, and then back at the ground followed by pointing at his mouth then finally at Skif.

Horror spread across Skif’s face. His breathing turned to panicked panting as all the tension that had bled out of him as he communicated with the Lord Dragon progress came rushing back with fury. “YOU ARE GOING TO EAT ME WHEN YOU GET BACK!!!” His voice as raw as it was came out loud and clear.

At first The Dragon nodded yes only to suddenly stop, its face contorted in horror at what Skif had said. The dragon’s scaly hand flew up in front of himself, waving about as if to defend himself from the Skif’s fearful declaration, His head rapidly waving side to side as if trying to deny it.

Skif watched wide eyed as the dragon quickly began a new set of hand gestures; first pointing at himself, then at his mouth, then at Skif, (causing him to flinch when the talon-tipped finger was facing him,) then more denial gestures. The dragon put more effort into this message, repeating each gesture with force and effort.

It took at least twenty or so reputations for the meaning to sink into Skif’s shocked mind, then quite a few more before he could find his words again. “Milord Dragon… do you mean you won’t be eating… me NOW but *gulp* you will when get back …… or do you happen mean to mean you won’t eat me at all?” Skif’s voice trembled very little as he spoke despite his body shaking like he just took a quick dip in a river in January.

The Dragon paused before answering using on finger and a quick head shake… to answer the first question? He raised two fingers and nodded slowly with his light eyes burrowing deep into Skif, before slowly pointing at himself then pointing then his own eye, then another head and hands shake of denial then pointing at his mouth and finally at Skif. These gestures were not repeated but Skif felt as if the Dragon intent gave was imploring him to believe him. ‘He would never eat me?’

After a pause the Dragon began another set of hand gestures; first pointing at his eye, then placing both his hands over his heart and then opening both to Skif. Skif would new that series of gestures, any human would, ‘I love you’.

Without losing eye contact Skif shook his own head. “I’m sorry my Lord Dragon. I do not understand you at all. I can’t believe you or your promises. You understand right? You have a reputation of eating people… I have seen the remittent pile and not a single bone. Even the missing Knights of…. I can’t believe you. All the evidence points to you planning on eating to eat me notwithstanding all the effort you have made on my behalf, Milord, which I am truly grateful for.”

Skif could clearly see that his words’ impact on the dragon; the beautiful light blue eyes that stared into him became a little dull with disappointment. The Dragon nodded his head in understanding sadly. Skif felt his own heart ache a bit at the slightly pained expression on the dragon’s face.

*****

They stared at each other for quite a while with no further attempt at communication made by either party, until the silence was once again broken by the boy’s rebellious stomach crying out for food.

Kieran simply shook his head. He retold the boy to stay here this time, not even trying to explain where he was going or what he was going to do. One near disaster of a communication misunderstanding a day was more than enough.

After a quick survey of the chamber to be sure that the little carrier had everything he would need ‘til he got back, Kieran plopped back down on his forelegs and began to make his way back to the entrance without looking back. His only company was his own berating thoughts. ‘Way to go Dragon Boy. Two steps forward and twenty nine back just because you can’t think before you act. I’m so glad Brion isn’t here right now. He would have a heyday with this. I can almost hear him heckling “*laughter* Just cause he can’t hear his thoughts doesn’t mean that should complete forget your mindlink to the boy, Little brother.” Gods of fire and wind, how could he forget the mindlink?’

Mindlink was one of the most difficult to master of dragons’ natural mental powers. It usually took years of practice and constant attention to be able to maintain it at a level in which you are able to hear the thoughts of another. Kieran never used it before; he was even a little surprised that it had worked on his very first try. The base level of their current mindlink was good enough to allow Kieran to get strong emotions like fear and pain. He should have been paying more attention to that link.

Kieran knew that this was his own stupid fault for the entire situation. Now he wasn’t even sure that he could regain the little progress he had made with Skif in the first place.

Kieran never knew that his heart could ache like this. In one day he found his destined mate, rescued said mate TWICE, and managed to be completely screw up his new relationship without even the use of his voice. ‘Man, who knew that a broken heart could hurt so bad. I have been such a jerk.’

Making his way to the entrance, Kieran began to think about how he could possibly fix this. He knew that he would likely come back to a quivering mate in his bedroom convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that Kieran was going to eat him. That was if he didn’t try to escape again. He growled at that thought, ‘Maybe I should make sure that stupid trail is gone. As much fun as having Knight serve themselves every morning for his breakfast, there is still a chance the boy might attempt to leave again---though very unlikely based on his recent near-death experience.’

The idea of breakfast Knights seemed to remind him of his own hunger and to remember that he still had some snacks in his little dragon pantry waiting for him. ‘Maybe munching on those bastards who hurt Skif will make me feel better. But I’d better deal with the trail first, works up a good appetite. Senseless destruction followed by a bit of slow torture and vore seemed to go right along with his mood.

Skif wasn’t entirely sure what to do when the Dragon left. It didn’t seem like leaving was an option. The trail didn’t seem likely even if he could build up enough courage for a second attempt. He had been too terrified to check the condition of the trail after his near-fatal slip. He may not have believed what the Dragon will not eat him when he returned, but that didn’t mean he was willing to take any chances. If the Dragon was planning on eating him then he wasn’t going to give him a reason to change his mind. So staying here looked like it was the best solution at the moment. Well, the only solution available at any rate.

Looking around Skif noticed the contents of his bag splayed about all over the floor of the cave, including his water skin and salvaged medical supplies. He made his way over to his scattered belongings and placed them back in the tattered bag.

His bandages were covered in dirt and sweat—they really needed to be replaced but Skif would need to go to the pond in the other chamber. Skif wasn’t sure that the Dragon’s stay here demand meant the cave or just this chamber. And Skif was really too tired to try to make his way to the pond. All he really wanted to do right now was sleep.

Using a trick that he learned from years of going to sleep with an empty stomach, Skif finished off the last of the water in both water skins. Skif picked a comfortable spot among on the dragon’s nest. Holding the glowing stone close to his chest he allowed his weary body to drag his body to drag his mind into sleep.

It didn’t take long for Kieran to completely destroy the trail. All he had to do was climbing down the wall a bit and use his claws to rip the trail off the wall. But all the destruction did very little to release his bad mood, only made him more hungry.

Kieran knew that if he was hungry from his constant need for food to support his growth spurt then his little carrier must be famished. Carriers by nature have a very high metabolism and body temperature to be able to handle carrying dragonlings and live in the cold mountain for dragon lands. Even without being an active carrier his little Skif must have been near fainting from hunger. The boy needed as much food as Kieran could stuff into that tiny, little, pink belly as often as possible.

First Kieran was going to fill his own belly with those sadistic bastards that let his little carrier get to his current pathetic, malnourished state, then go get food to rectify that state.

Kieran paused long enough to heat up some Posrothaina stones to illuminate the chamber. Seeing what is about to eat you is always more terrifying than the vague unknown. Especially if you can see it eat your best friends first. Or so it seemed to be with all the other knights he’d eaten.

Okay, Kieran’s mad mood was making him a little grumpy …. and well malicious. Kieran had never been dumb before particularly by the new love of his life due to his own stupid mistake.

It took very little effort to move the boulder, unlocking the four Knights from his makeshift pantry. He had obviously got them by surprise because they instantly started yelling but it took them longer for them to start throwing the few loose rocks that were lying on the floor of their mini chamber.

Having previous experience dealing with knights that had just spent time naked, cold and confined to a pitch back stone chamber, Kieran knew that the eventually their courage would return or their unite would fail. In either case the result would be the same; eventually they would all decide to try to make a run for it— a little slice of “survival of the fittest” —cowardly knight style.

As if on cue, the four Knights made dashed for freedom. A very short dash for freedom.

Kieran simply had to grab the first Knight that came through the opening and then sweep the rest back in with his tail, keeping them in place by whipping his tail menacingly in front of the opening. Not enough to be distracted from what he was going to do the first hapless Knight, just enough to keep him from taking advantage of their friend’s fate and try to get away a second time.

The naked Knight in his hand would not stop squirming and shooting, trying desperately to get one of the talon-tipped fingers holding him to let him go with his bare hands. Kieran gave him just a little shake that caused the man’s head to plop back and forth a few times none too gently. Using a long drawn-out exhalation out breath of scalding air bearing down on him was just the trick to remind him of who exactly the fingers belonged to. The Knight halted his struggles to stare fixated into Kieran’s eyes.

Kieran slowly brought the terrified knight closer to his mouth and let his long, forked tongue slip out like a snake, to glide over the dirt-covered face of the knight leaving a thick layer of saliva all over his face. A low rumble of enjoyment came from his throat as he licked his lips. The Knight was tasty despite his recent less than then desirable living arrangements and physical condition. Kieran’s stomach gave its own demanding growl of hunger that could clearly be heard by the knights.

The desire to fill his stomach with said tasty morsel as fast as possible was fighting his angered craving to make this as slow and painful as he could so that these knightly bastards would pay for every single cruel deed they committed against his precious, little carrier in the next room.

As slowly as his hunger would let him, Kieran moved the petrified knight to his mouth which he gradually opened to increase the overall terror of the situation. His father always complained that he never grew out of playing with his food and at times like this Kieran could kind of see what he was talking about. (But come on, Kieran was only about four hundred years old and for a dragon that was like twenty in human years. He thought he was just acting his age and having fun.)

Finally, The Knights natural fight or flight instinct kicked in as he began to struggle with renewed vigor, but it was already too late for him. Kieran used his powerful tongue to wrap around the tasty Knight and slowly began to pull him inside his mouth. The man’s scream were echoing inside Kieran’s skull as he pounded against his teeth try to get out while desperately trying to avoid a trip down Kieran’s throat.

Using his tongue Kieran bathed the panicked man slowly, savoring his every last taste. He moaned with enjoyment.

“NOOOOOOO!” The sound occurred at the same instant that, for the second time in one morning, a blasting wave of panic and fear stampeded through the mindlink.

Kieran whipped his head around to see Skif standing in the cave passage leading from the chamber he had left him in with an expression of pure horror on his sweet little face.

The boy ran as fast as his worn legs could carry him right up to him and threw, throwing himself to his knees before Kieran. From his knees his little carrier began to beg.

“Please Milord Dragon. Please don’t eat him. …. If you’re doing this because I …. If you need…. If you must eat someone…. Please… I beg you…. Eat me. I don’t want… I’m mean…I know I may not be the most…. appetizing or have …much meat but ….I will take my Lords Knight’s place.” Skif stammered, his voice trembling. “Please, Milord Dragon… Please do not take….out your anger…. over my earlier behavior out on the Knights… They have not done anything wrong. …If you want me to stay I will stay….. I will do anything…. Just don’t eat them…” Skif stammered on and on with his raspy little voice.

A low angry growl from Kieran stopped the boy’s senseless pleading, leaving him once again trembling at his feet.

Kieran almost felt throw up at the sight before him; a battered and abused boy begging for the lives of his abusers. Kieran has seen the inside the boy’s mind—it was clear to see that it was once a crystal-clear world of light all about honor and virtue. Now it was covered in the muck and filth of all the things the boy was forced to do or eat just to survive this long. A part of Keiran was really afraid that he would never be able to save his precious little mate from the horrors of his past.

It was truly beyond Kieran how this boy could defend them after all the horrible things they did to him each and every day and night for three long years. The very thought made Kieran want to rip them to tiny little pieces, Starting with the little bastard screaming in his mouth.

Kieran suddenly knocked the bastard to the side with his tongue while snapping his jaws open and closed in a flash. The abrupt movement managed to trap the bastard in his teeth. The man’s screaming took on a whole new level of terror, only to go up another level as Kieran ground his teeth slowly, crushing his ribs.

Much to Kieran’s surprise the previously trembling boy was not trembling any more. Despite his injures the boy was fast; Kieran totally missed the boy darting to the debris pile, grabbing the first weapon he found and started swinging at Kieran. Little Skif clearly didn’t have any formal training with weaponry but that didn’t stop him from putting his entire weight into each and every swing.

“LET HIM GO, YOU FUCKING BEAST!!!!!” His little screaming mate was completely lost in rage and panic, concentrating on doing everything he could to get Kieran to drop the screaming bastard trapped in his mouth. Skif was so focused that he didn’t see that that not a single hit was managing to even ding Kieran’s impenetrable scales, but in fact the old rusty sword was bending and would likely break in.

Kieran’s heart was breaking all over again. His Skif had to know there was nothing a half starved and severely battered boy like himself could do against a half-grown Dragon a hundred times bigger than him with only a rusty sword. But that didn’t stop his little mate’s honorable spirit and truly knightly determination.

The desire to eat the Knights slowly vanished as Kieran watched on as Skif wasted his precious energy. Kieran freed the screaming man from his teeth and placed him in his waiting hands. Skif was still so focused on freeing his abuser that he didn’t even notice at all.

As Kieran predicted, the sword broke sending the boy crashing to the ground, panting so hard and fast, tears once again streaming down his cheeks. When Skif looked up at Kieran from his sprawled place on the cave floor, Kieran gently shook the knight in his hand like a little kid’s toy. He was trying to show the exhausted boy that he had won but some part of him told him that maybe, just maybe he was forgetting something.

But fate must have truly been against him. The sight of the daggling Knight, turned the boy’s panting into gasping for breath as he gestured like crazy that he couldn’t breathe.

Kieran dropped the Knight to the ground not caring where he landed. Kieran quickly picked up his breathless mate cuddling him to his chest gently, stroking his back lightly while purring slowly and soothingly, trying to encourage his boy to calm down and breathe. Kieran felt so powerless.

Everything he did despite being the best of intentions all ended up back-firing on him and worse than that he was harming his helpless mate even more. He couldn’t even tell his precious boy that he was sorry and that he was safe now.

‘How can I be so stupid? Why didn’t I check the mindlink? Why can’t I remember the damn thing before I screw everything up?’

It took quite some time before the boy was able to calm down enough for him to breathe normally again. Kieran kept rubbing the boy’s back. He was grateful that this time that his boy didn’t tense up whenever he tried to touch him. But when the boy started to fidget Kieran was reluctantly let him down. He wanted badly to be able to hold him but he needed the boy to trust him more. And for that to happen the boy needed to not to feel forced when he was interacting with Kieran.

He gently set his little mate on his feet, in front of him. At first Kieran was unsure what to do next. Should he take the boy back to his resting chamber or maybe try an apology with gestures again.?

Luckily he didn’t have worry about that for a bit because while he was distracted the other three knights had slipped past him and grabbed weapons of their own and made a surprise assault on his flank. Kieran quickly whipped around to face his assailants, thus beginning round two of “Kieran the mighty dragon versus the idiot Knights”.

As before, it did not take long to disarm them as they clearly had not remembered that simple weapons of iron and steel were no match again his hard, scaly-armored skin. Notwithstanding having just witnessed a demonstration of that very fact only minutes before.

This time Kieran made every effected not to injure the Knights as he separated them from his weaponry and shields before tossing their naked butts back into the pantry chamber. Kieran quickly but gently placed the now injured knight back with the others and slid the boulder back in place.

When he turned back to his precious Skif the boy was holding the broken sword again, ready to defend—just not sure who he was going to be defending from whom. Slowly Kieran reached out and pulled the broken sword from the boy’s hands and tossed it out the main entrance of the cave, thus off the cliff.

The boy backed away from him yet keeping his weary eyes glued to Kieran’s every move.

With a deep sigh Kieran focused on the mindlink, opening it to a higher level. He knew that he needed to try to reassure Skif once again that he wouldn’t eat him. ‘Crap’

As the Mindlink opened, vague feelings of confusion and fear became a wave of thoughts. ‘….HE IS going to eat me for sure now… Just like he was going to eat Sir Fredrick… I know I agreed to take his fate but…… I really hope he doesn’t grind me… please let it be quick…’

Kieran wished with all his scales that he could tell the boy—No, he was safe…. That he would gladly do anything for him… even if that meant keeping those damn knights safe from their much deserved fate.

Telling him wasn’t an option at the moment so he was going to have to try the gesture-communication again, but this time he was going to think before he acted AND keep the damn mindlink up and open so he could hopefully prevent any further miscommunication.

The first move Kieran made was to back away from the boy, hoping that a little space would convey some honesty to his message. The mindlink told him that Skif was confused and relieved by Kieran’s sudden retreat but a little bit curious too. ‘So far so good.’

Kieran began his series of thought-out gestures with a silent prayer to the gods and goddess of fire, wind and Love. ‘Please let this work.’ First Kieran snapped his fingers, making sure he had the boy full focus not that he needed to—the boy’s eyes were already locked on him. Kieran began pointing to himself several times and eventually, the boy spoke, “You?”

Kieran nodded and purred in agreement. It wasn’t necessarily important for his little carrier to verbalize each and every gesture but Kieran wanted to triple check that he understood, before moving on to the next gesture.

The next gesture was a shaking of his head and a waving of his hand to the negative.

Again he repeated the gesture ‘til the boy spoke, “No? You no?” Kieran purred again in conformation; he loved how brilliant his little one was.

But the next gesture was a little trickier. Kieran pointed to his mouth and began to pretend chewing. The boy got it one try. “Eat....? You no eat? You will not eat...?” The boy received another approving purr.

Kieran then pointed at Skif, and then the boulder which trapped the Knights inside. The mindlink at least gave him a warning before Skif rushed him again,. “You will not eat me for them ….? No! Please don’t eat them. I said I would give myself to you. Please, Milord I am sorry I disobeyed… I left the chamber I’m sorry but …. I promise I will not do it again…. I will…”

Kieran used a low but soft growl to silence Skif’s verbal begging. He used the universal symbol for quiet by place a finger over his mouth and shushed the boy which came out as more of a hiss then a shushing sound. He then pointed at his ears and at Skif, then back to his ears. ‘You listen.’ When the boy was about to interrupt again Kieran repeated the quiet symbol again, and the boy snapped his mouth shut.

Taking a deep breath, Kieran again repeating all the gestures again, only this time splitting up pointing at where the Knights were and then repeating the gestures pointing at Skif.

“You won’t eat them…. You are not going to eat me? Milord Dragon I swear I will obey you. I will be your obedient slave… I promise…” Skif fell to his knees as if bowing before his liege or master.

A small part of Kieran liked the idea of having his little carrier as his personal sex slave. He could think of lots of stuff they could do together—lots of perverted things. But a large part Kieran thought the idea of Skif giving his body, his life and even his very soul to protect the Knights was revolting. Kieran would not have him that way. ‘But how am I going to convince him that he isn’t a slave but my mate, my chosen one, my destiny, my very soul-mate.’

Kieran picked Skif up and placed the boy back on his feet, ignoring the boy’s flinching under his touch. Using his finger, Kieran gently pulled Skif’s chin up, forcing the boy to once again meet his eyes. With a shake of his head to the negative, Kieran tried to think of a way to tell him that he was not a slave but something far more important to him.

Looking around frantically for any inspiration on to how to convince Skif, Kieran’s eyes landed on the abandoned manacles that the boy had first had on when Kieran had met him. They lay where the boy had left them when he had managed to free himself of them. Instantly, an idea came to him.

Grabbing them up, Kieran showed them to Skif. The boy’s mind and face were filled with surprise and horror before changing to reluctant resolve, as he stepped forward again, arms raised as if he ready to be chained up.

Kieran hissed as he retreated again from his mate. When he had Skif’s full attention once more again, Kieran continued with his gesturing explanation, by pointing at the manacles and then at Skif before shaking his head and hissing loudly. Skif started on, his cute, little, dirty forehead creased with confusion, But Kieran continued, by tossing the manacles out the cave entrance to join the fate of Skif’s broken sword. Then Kieran pointed at himself and Skif before linking his two index fingers together then slowly using his fingers to form a heart.

Skif was unable to figure out what he was trying to say no matter how many times Kieran repeated the “heart” gesture. “Milord Dragon. I’m sorry. I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say.”

After the hundredth time Kieran finally gave up. It would take more than hand gestures to explain the complicated relationship of Dragon and carrier. Kieran would simply have to wait ‘til his growth phase was complete before he could properly clarify to him. For now at least the boy understood that he was not a slave, even if he didn’t know what he really was, and he knew that he was not going to be eaten by Kieran, even if he didn’t believe it.

With a sigh Kieran began to gesture again, retelling Skif that he was to stay here and that he was going to go. This time he left out the reason for his trip. Through the mindlink, Keiran could feel that the boy was suffering from information overload and he didn’t want to risk any more misunderstandings. He’d had quite enough of those today already.

Giving his precious, little mate a quick, gentle pet on the back, Kieran turned and left the cave in search for a breakfast for the both of them.

********

^-^ Well what do you think? I know that most of you thought it Kieran’s tummy. Sorry to disappoint you all. But I hope this works chapter still works for you. I really didn’t Think I would get this to you so fast. It is thanks to trombonesonmars.

Okay. It is time for me to reply to all your reviews. First let me apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I really appreciative all the time you spent writing. I like to go back and reread them when the story isn’t cooperating and get reinspired to keep writing.

Kags21 –I’m so glad you enjoy the story. I will try to remember to email. No promises.

My_perversities- I’m so please the story. Your comment made go back and look at. Your right I need to fix it a little bit. I need to make it more clear that Dragons are very protective of their chosen mate like Kieran is to Skif in later chapters. I have gone over this issue before in another caht with some one on my live journal and here is what I came up with to solve the issue.

(((A life of a carrier is most in endanger when mating to a dragon who is not there soul mate cause a dragon sex drive is tied to the food section of the brain. But when soul mates are together then the dragon is in tuned to his mate and NOT HUNGER and wont accidentally eat him. (hence the reason carrier are so rare. But not every dragon finds his one true soul mate and the need to breed is very strong usually the mating pair is watched magically for the carriers safety

Carrier are normal humans bred from human lines usually mom and dad had the gene and made the carrier. that why they\'re so rare and Kieran is so surprised to Find Skif. The bloodline are guarded and the old magic keeps the genes alive in each new generation but carrier don\'t get to mate anyone but dragons due to their being so few of them ( not that they can\'t mate with other humans). It would be like 100 human boys to about 15 carriers born and one carrier to 100 horny possessive dragons.

Every society has problems. Dragon society problem is that they have promoted a food source to a mate. Half their brain is telling them he is dinner and the other half is telling them He is mate Must protect. Kind of like Bessy the cow as the family pet. Only Bessy the cow is really Billy the cute little carrier boy that they want to fuck. Dragon still are rare due to low carrier birth rate and the dragon near immortal life span.

your right being eaten by your mate Ultimate betrayal. But dragon society does (try to) take care of this issue by placing magical binds on Dragons of not soul mated pairs.

Like magical muffles. But that only condoned pairs. The unmated carrier are normal guard by the females ( who are not horny all the time )or soul mated dragons for their protection. When a big horny dragon want something it there nothing a little carrier can do but pray not to be an after sex snack.)))

I will explain it more later in other chapters. Thanks for your concern.

Kasia-chan –I’m writing.=D I hope you like these new chapters. Thanks.

Thanks for your second review. I thought I would get that reaction. I’m glad I amuse you. I will promise to finish this it just might take some time.

Third review. I PROMISE I WILL FINISH THIS STORY. Just hang in there k. It will take a while cause at chapter 12 I’m barely still getting into the story.

Cobraqueen. Well I have the basic planned but I wouldn’t say I have every detail plan out. Some times I don’t know what will happen in the chapter just a general idea of where the story goes. Remember this when you get to chapter 10 or eleven and you read about the bull, that scene was based on the fact I was watching an episode of untamed and uncut, that talked about people getting hurt by bulls cause of their own stupidity. Sorry I tortured you. I hope this chapter relieves the pain.

Itchan-I hoped you enjoyed this chapter too. Thanks for reading.

Kylee- I’m glad you think this is funny. Comedy is so hard to write. I’m sorry I have written to chapter 12 already and there is no dragon smex in sight yet. Kieran not letting Skif get away. He was just being lazy and wanted to be a sleep.. He underestimated how crafty Skif can be. Thanks for the review.

Wow two reviews. Sorry I didn’t update sooner.

AMAZING THREE REVIEWS. You are PSYCHIC. I wonder if you can figure out what comes next. Well Maybe not cause then my story would be boring. =D

K I’m BLOWN away four reviews. Yes November is great. I love all the new stories. Here is a secret. Chapter 6 will be up tomorrow. =D

Mustlove_PrettyBoys – I know but the stories like that are so hard to come by. But Yesterday Vamp Fangirl posted a new one. Check it out I loved it PLUS she will likely get to the smex sooner than my story.

Sobakasuchan- I hope you like how their relation developed in this chapter, too. See they’re talking well communicating at least. =D Thanks

SecondStoreyStairwell- Thanks I’m glad You like it. Kieran is so cute being so possessive.

Kuromei- Me too That why I wrote this story. Kieran Humanoid form will be very human like but wait to see the differences. Skif troubles aren’t over yet but Kieran will care for him. You’re very psychic about wwhat happened in this new chapter. Eh? =DThanks for reading.

Hey Suryallee. Of Course I will continue this. Enjoy the new chapters please.

Bloodyxunicorns- Skif will eventually trust Kieran It will take a few chapters. I hope you will enjoy this chapter too. Thank you for your offer to beta. I’m sorry I didn’t see your review sooner. But I didn’t have any new chapters till now.

JtheChosen1- Glad you like that chapter. How is this one?

Jdbbrz- Thank you so much wonderful review.

Littleolmee-Thanks. I hope that you will like this chapter. And lots of questions wow. As you can see Skif doesn’t take the eat the knights plan too well. The mindlink is very tricky as you can see. Kieran only gets basic emotions if he is not concentrating on keeping it open, so no he doesn’t know what the knights said to him. But He will get the idea later, *evil smirk* Most of Your question are answered in this chapter. Sorry no cannibal in this story. Thanks for reviewing.

Thanks for hanging in there.

Smint45- Kieran is smart he has figure a way to talk to Skif and managed to confuse him more. =D Enjoy the chapter.
