Part Five

“Well, well, aren’t we all conveniently packaged.” Rain leaned against Big Kitty’s side.

“Why are you here?” CrimsonMoon glared at her, hand tightening on the hilt of his blade.

“I was invited.” She reached into her pocket and pulled out an envelope.

“The real question is why the four of us?” Big Kitty questioned.

The four: Rain, Big Kitty, CrimsonMoon, and An-chan were currently inside an abandoned warehouse. Tension filled the air. An-chan and CrimsonMoon were prepared for a fight. Big Kitty lounged casually against a pillar with Rain at his side.

“There will be no fighting this night.” Between them appeared the Goddess of War. “The four of you will be working together from now until your task is complete.”

“What!?” CrimsonMoon stared at the blond.

“A new threat is rising. You four are the best of the Human Race. And well...An-chan is included in that because she’s a Healer who is attached to Moon-boy. Now, this threat is starting to look like another Great Chaos. However, we Gods and Goddesses would like to stop this before it can escalate.” The blond Goddess, dressed in a dark green sweater-hoodie and black pants and shoes, pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose. “You are to travel west and defeat all enemies that step in your path.”

“What does the enemy look like?” Big Kitty asked.

“They all have a tattoo of an inverted pentagram somewhere on their body. The foot soldiers will have them easily displayed. The higher ranks as well as the ones at the top will have them hidden, so be careful.”

“Why does that sound familiar?” An-chan grabbed her tail and stroked it.

“The lower and higher ranks are many different Races, some even Human. However, the ones who are in charge are Jesters.”

“No!” An-chan hissed.

“What are Jesters?” Rain questioned.

“Jesters are cruel, vicious creatures. They look like Humans except that they have long, sharp, black claws and sharp teeth. Their eyes are bright, shining gold. Remember that description and be careful if you encounter one. They are very strong and skilled fighters. From what we know of them, there is nothing more evil than them.”

“I’m hurt. You make me seem like a novice in comparison.” Rain sighed dramatically.

“When do we leave?” Again, it was Big Kitty who asked the question.

“You have twenty-four hours to arrange your lives and collect supplies. Be back here by then.”

***

Steve sighed as he walked into the Temple. Kotori had been smiling cheerfully before she took in his expression. She frowned as she walked up to him.

“You have to go away again?”

“Yes. It’s a secret so I can’t tell you. But I will come back as soon as I can.”

“Alright.” She hugged him tightly to her.

He patted her back awkwardly before pushing her way and heading to his room.

***

“I can’t just leave you here now can I?” Little Kitty meowed at William from outside the door as he swung his traveling bag across his back and left his apartment.

He let his eyes sweep over The Litter Box one last time before locking the door. He made sure the sign on the inside was visible before walking away. It read: Gone Fishing.

***

“Here’s a cell phone for you. My number is the only one in the contacts, alright? Please promise me you’ll stay here. If you don’t, I won’t be able to protect you. There are still people who want you dead. No one knows about this place so you’ll be fine.”

“Okay. I’ll stay here.”

Rain smiled at Kimberly as she left the cave.

“For your convenience, Big Kitty will drive since he is the only one who can.” Nicole rolled her eyes. “But since sometimes you might not be able to use the car, you need a way to bring it with you easily. So, this is something we have created. The car will be turned into a small toy-sized model that you can place in your pocket when you can’t use it.”

“If anything happens to my car-”

“Your car has been made indestructible.”

“Well, that works.” Rain shrugged.

“What kind of car is it?” CrimsonMoon asked.

“'It’s a red nineteen-seventy Chevelle SS with two black stripes on the hood.” Big Kitty responded, almost in a daze.

“Sweet.” Rain’s eyes widened.

“Totally.” Nicole nodded.

“Dude.” They both chimed in unison.
