Heat

This is a chapter I had a lot of difficulties writing, so if there is something you don't understand say so.
Hey hey on with the fun!

Alavas sat on his chair, listening to one of the members of his family as he described the way he wanted his house done and answering the questions sent his way on the best way to proceed. He felt bored and a little hot but didn’t let it show, it wouldn’t be proper. His face expressionless, he readjusted the collar of his black silk shirt in a small graceful movement the elf in front of him didn’t even notice.

He had left Tansa in the library with Micha this morning since his time in probation was finished and he had to attend to all his family’s need and all the head of family’s meetings. He wondered if Tansa was doing okay. Readjusting his collar again, he decided to have a quiet talk with the elf taking care of the temperature in his house. A small drop of perspiration ran down the side of his face and he wondered why the elf in front of him didn’t seem affected by the hot temperature.

Answering mechanically, he thought of how Tansa was slowly becoming less shy and more open, revealing a curious nature and an extraordinary capacity to learn things really fast. The only problem was that Tansa didn’t stand people touching him. Even if it was understandable, Alavas didn’t understand why their first few touches when Tansa was still in bed hadn’t seem to bother him, but he was now jerking away each time Alavas so much as brushed against him while passing. He sighted, his 100 years experience wasn’t helping him a lot here, and it was frustrating.

Alavas took out a small cloth and elegantly wiped tiny beads of perspiration from his face. He was feeling a little weird now. It felt like the outside world was creeping on him: every sound was slowly being amplified, his vision getting clearer, and a need rising. He held up a hand, stopping the one talking to him before the noise drove him crazy. His head throbbing, he heard the familiar but worried voice of his Nama ** Alavas?**. Feeling dizzy he tried to answer, reassure his Nama, but his head was hurting, trying to classify all the new sensations. He closed his eyes to block away at least part of the invading of the outside world. **Alavas?** said the more worried voice of his Nama.

A young elf watched in shock as the head of the family’s Nama suddenly appeared and taking a human form caught his falling and soon unconscious master into his arms.

In his lover’s bed, not so far away, Shusui heard a call from Ilino, the elf that took care of his older brother. Silently getting out of the bed so as not to wake up his sleeping husband, he quickly dressed himself and ran to his brother’s house.

Walking through the small crowd of worried people in front of the house, he made his way to Alavas’ bedroom wondering what had happened. His brother laid on his large bed, a light cover on his lightly flushed form, and three elders around him with big smiles on their faces. Shusui then took in a worried looking Tansa in a far corner of the room with Alavas’s Nama on his shoulder.

“What…?” He started to say but one of the elders cut him off.

“Your brother is in heat. As head of the Nilas family, he will finally be able to choose a life partner again. His Nama is now able to recognize its new partner. The choosing will be done tonight, the elf population has already been asked to assemble in front of the Teesa tree. The only thing we need now is your brother waking up, and that’s up to you.”

Shusui looked at his sleeping brother and nearly shed tears for him. Why now? Why did his heat have to happen now? He knew his brother didn’t really want a new partner but he would have no choice now. And what would happen to Tansa?
“We are waiting for you” one of the elders reminded him.

Having no other choice, Shusui silently called for Seleno before kissing his brother’s eyes. Being kissed by someone close to him was an easy way to wake up an unconscious elf. Shusui watched as Alavas’ eyes slowly opened and they eyes met. He saw all the dread and sorrow bottled there before he was pushed out of the way by an impatient elder. Alavas was carefully dressed in his best clothes and brought to the front of the elf crowd at the old tree, his Nama on his shoulder. Shusui followed motioning for Tansa to come with him while silently praying for a miracle to happen to stop the ceremony.

Shusui looked at the huge crowd waiting for the choice of the head of the most important elf family. Every one of them was dressed in their most precious clothes and hoping that Alavas would choose them. Alavas seemed as dignified as ever, even if Shusui recognized the pained look in his eyes from the hurt of having to choose someone else when his wife had just been killed. Silence suddenly came when Alavas’ Nama leapt from his shoulder to gracefully land on the forest floor, hundreds of eyes following its movements. Alavas closed his eyes and Shusui did the same, calling for his lover again for strength. He was pulled against a strong torso and he leaned into it Seleno’s Nama jumped on his shoulder nuzzling his neck. Seleno didn’t need any explanation, he already knew.

When gasps were heard and a furious mumble started, Shusui’s eyes popped open and he couldn’t believe his eyes when the scene in front of him registered. Micha had taken a human form and was kissing a shocked Tansa behind the ear. Oh no… that certainly meant trouble… The elders were about to contest the decision of the Nama when a quiet humming sound was heard and a small ball of light appeared in mid-air, slowly growing to a humanoid being of light.

The silence was absolute when Teesa’s spirit started to talk.
“I approve this choice and whishes a happy life for the two new partners, may your love follow you until the end and your shelter be solid to keep your two little ones from harm. You have my benediction.” The light being disappeared leaving a huge eyed crowd behind her. Teesa’s spirit rarely appeared for a simple choice of partner, but each and every time she had appeared the couple had been a really inseparable and important one. This was the first time an elf had taken a human as a partner and numerous were the jealous ones, because Alavas had been the ideal partner. But if Teesa approved they could say nothing.

Tansa stared as the luminous being disappeared. He hadn’t understood why Micha had just kissed him and why that had brought every eye to him. The hatred in the eyes looking at him had hurt him, but when he had looked at Alavas, he had felt his fear and sadness being washed away with the look of pure shocked joy on the other’s face. He didn’t understand a thing to what had just happened but if Alavas had that look on his face it couldn’t be that bad.

Alavas slowly walked to him and proceeded to kiss him behind the ear just like his Nama had done a few minutes ago and again Tansa was too surprised to react. The white haired elves then lead them to a small house on the tree behind them and gave Alavas the keys to it, leaving the two of them at the front door. Once alone in the house and the door locked, Alavas turned to face him and Tansa was shocked by the lust he saw in his eyes for a few seconds before it disappeared like it had never been there.

“Are you okay?” Alavas asked.

“uh… Yeah… I think… What just happened? I didn’t understand anything” he said.

“I’m in heat again, which means I am ready to take a new partner. And the one that chooses a partner for an elf is his Nama. The Nama chooses one person in the crowd and this person becomes its master’s new life partner.”

“But… does that mean I… I’m your new life partner?!” Tansa was beginning to freak out. How could something like that happen? Micha had chosen the wrong person!

“Yes. I’m sorry, if you don’t want to be, I… you don’t have to feel obliged to anything, you can go if you want to.”

“No. that’s not what I mean, I… but I’m not even an elf!”

“True, but Teesa approved of our relationship so I guess it is okay.”

“Teesa?Is that the light woman?”

Laughing Alavas answered “Yes, she is the older tree known to the elves and the house we are in is inside her.”

“But why are we in this house?”

Alavas’ deep green eyes left his and quickly took a look at the bed. Tansa suddenly realized the house was in fact only composed of two bedrooms and a bathroom. His cheeks turned red and panicking he took two steps backwards.

“I’m sorry Tansa. We don’t have to do anything. You can go in the other bedroom and stay there; I will not force anything on you. I promised I would take care of you and that’s what I’m going to do. But you have to promise me you will lock your door and not open it before the sun gets up tomorrow morning.” he said, starting to turn away.

Tansa looked at the elf’s beautiful sincere eyes and the next thing he knew his arms were twining around Alavas’ neck as he timidly brought his lips to his. He felt Alavas tense then relax as he took control of the kiss. His lips were crushed and he felt the elf’s need through his strange clothes. How could Alavas be so hard with just a kiss?! A long thin tongue caressed his lips asking permission to get in, and he happily granted it opening his mouth to the other’s exploration. Strong arms wrapped around his frail form and brought him closer, like the nearly non existent space between them was two much. He had never been kissed like that before; the kiss was gentle yet demanding, like it was more than desire between them even if the sexual attraction was now nearly palpable. His lungs were aching but he didn’t care, giving himself completely to the other, offering himself, all fear forgotten, he trusted Alavas and even if it hurt he was willing to satisfy the other’s need. The kiss was suddenly stopped and Alavas pushed him away a little, his hands trembling.

“I’m sorry Tansa, not like this, I can’t take you like this. I don’t want to hurt you, I…”

Like a bolt of lightning, understanding struck Tansa. Alavas had said he was in heat, which must mean he needed sex really badly and that was why he had had to take a partner, since elves only had one life partner and didn’t go from a partner to another. It also explained his raging hard on and why he had asked him to lock himself into the other bedroom. He wasn’t afraid of being hurt and he knew he was ready to get hurt for that man … that elf… whatever. After all, it was the first time someone actually asked him if he wanted it even as it was the first time he actually felt attracted to someone, which had had him shy away from Alavas’ touch when it was the only one he could bear. So even if Alavas only wanted his body to satisfy his heat, he was willing to give it to him. He didn’t understand a lot elf heat but he could disappear if Alavas found someone better suited for him. Before Alavas ran away, he caught his hand and kissed him again stroking the elf’s need through his clothes, rendering the simple action of thinking nearly impossible for Alavas and at the same time showing he knew what was coming and he agreed to it. He wanted to repay Alavas for all he had done for him, and now was the perfect occasion.
