SIX

"Come on, it'll be fun! Lots of people are going," Theo attempted to convince Eilla. She was not thrilled about the thought of partying with a bunch of strangers and Theo and Casey, who she barely knew anyway.

"I'll be a total third wheel," Eilla whined.

"No way. It'll be great and you love that place," Theo plead. "Seriously, if it isn't fun, I'll pay for your cab home, I swear."

"Fine." Eilla finally gave up, said a quick goodbye and hung up the phone. Theo had just convinced her to go with him and Casey to Trunk, a club that played killer underground hip hop. Eilla would usually be jumping up and down excited, she really did love that club. She was less excited this time because Theo was meeting Casey and a group of her friends there, and Eilla had a feeling that she would not have such a great time. She had never been there with out Ben or a group of girlfriends, who she liked to dance with.

She reluctantly got herself ready. She had been moving at a snail's pace the last few days, still feeling bad about having lunch with Eazy and missing Ben. She had been working hard at the store, but that escape had been exhausted earlier that day when she spent all day on the phone with an obnoxious supplier. She haphazardly threw on a pair of dark jeans that had been laying on her floor and pulled out a navy blue t shirt from the back of her closet. She tyed a blue and black print scarf around her curly locks and stared at her face for a while before deciding to put some powder on her face. It just didn't seem like a big deal to her this particular night what she looked like.

She paced a little bit around her room, unable to decide what shoes to wear. She was impatient, she wanted Ben to come home, but she still had another twenty four hours without him. She played with the ends of the graphic silk scarf that hung from the nape of her necks, bored and wishing she hadn't accepted the invitation. She decided on a pair of dark gray wedge heels, for no particular reason other than they were closest to her.

When Theo picked her up, she was in better spirits. She thought it over, realizing she had a lot of friends who frequented Trunk and there was a good chance they would be there. She also thought Theo might need someone to talk to once in a while when Casey wanted to talk to her friends. She also thought after a drink or two, there was a way she could have a good time.

They met up with Casey at the door. She was with a group of three girls and two guys, dressed in a short turquois dress and sky high black heels, showing off her legs as expected. She gave her sunny, bright smile to Theo as they approached, which made Eilla smile a bit. They seemed happy to see each other. Theo gave her a big hug. "You look great," he said softly. Eilla looked away, unable to watch the sweet display. After a few moments, he felt a finger poking her shoulder. "Eilla, you remember Casey, right?"

Eilla snapped her head around to catch Casey's sparkling blue eyes. "Hi, Casey. Good to see you again," She said politely. Casey introduced her group of friends quickly as the eight of them walked down the stairs to the basement of the brick building. With each step, the stairway became darker and darker until they reached the club entrance, where it was almost entirely pitch black. The club was pulsing with crazy bass and the hazy stage lights seemed to be the only source of light for the entire basement floor. The bar was crowded, but Eilla knew that in an hour the place would be packed to the point she would barely be able to move.

They sat at a table for a while, Eilla made small talk with a girl named Megan, a friend of Casey's from school, who was obviously as proud of her fake tits as Casey was about her legs, judging by the extremely low gold halter top she wore. Eilla sipped down a vodka tonic quickly, just for something to do in the uncomfortable silences when no one would talk to her. She kept glancing around, hoping that even in the terrible light she could spot someone she knew.

It had been almost an hour, and Eilla had not spoken a word in almost twenty minutes. She was practically pouring vodka tonics down her throat, uninterested in anyone at the table she was sitting at. Theo was completely mesmerized by Casey, Megan had run out of small talk, and she couldn't even remember the names of anyone else at the table. She was dying to dance, she loved the music, but the dance floor hadn't picked up its usually traffic yet, it was still a little early in the night. Suddenly she felt a sharp tug at her hair, which made her jump up and whip her head around, ready to snap.

"Hey lady," said Eazy. He was standing in all of his six foot eight glory, looking great in a snug black t shirt and black hat. His smile seemed to make the little corner of the bar brighter. Eilla, beginning to feel a little washed thanks to the vodka, couldn't help but spring out of the booth and say hello.

"What are you doing here?" Eilla asked. She had never seen him there before, and was a little surprised to see him there now. It was more of his scene to be in a trendy bar where the waitresses wore spandex and the drinks cost twice as much.

"You told me about this place over lunch, I thought I'd check it out," He said, looking around a little. "I dig it."

A waitress breezed by and Eazy beckoned her over. He ordered a Red Bull and vodka. "She'll have a vodka tonic," he added at the end.

"Eazy, I can get it," Eilla said, with an unintentional smile. Standing made her realize exactly why she shouldn't get it. Her limbs seemed to tingle slightly and she felt lazy, and her lips wouldn't wrench themselves out of a smile no matter how hard she tried. She looked around a little, able to see even less now that everything was dark and blurry. "Hey, are you here by yourself?" She asked.

"No, but I think my buddies wanna bounce. Is it cool if I stay with you for a while?" Eazy asked timidly, almost as if he wanted to choke back the last part.

"Sure!" Eilla said surprisingly. Before she knew it, she was lounging in a booth across from Eazy, gulping her drinks subconciously wishing that she would forget the night. Why Eazy was here was a mystery. She didn't remember mentioning it to him, but her mind was in no state to recollect anything. She had become hyper and giggly, Eazy was become loose as well. Eilla could not keep her eyes off of him. Somehow, with all of the charm Ben had, he never had the raw sex appeal that Eazy embodied. His arms looked like they could tear the sleeves from his shirt that was tight across his hard chest. Eilla faintly recalled the first time she saw him without a shirr, how her jaw dropped and she had made him a little embarassed. She found herself unable to sit up straight, leaning forward with her arms sprawled across the table. She didn't have the energy to resist when Eazy rested his hands on her arms, moving his fingers slightly and gently on the soft skin of her inner wrists.

Eilla's mind seemed to slide around in her skull, her head was aching slightly, her face was hot, she felt hungry and she had a definite numbness creeping up from her fingers and toes. The room was a blur of dark blues and purples, except for Eazy's gleaming white smile. She could feel the bass from the speakers trying their best to push feeling into her limbs, but she could recognize no songs or even if words were being spoken. The next thing she knew, she was standing, somehow, seemingly her legs were gone but they supported her anyway. She was moving slowly, awkwardly, her eyes could barely stay open, but she felt amazing. The beat was streaming effortlessly through her and there was finally a beam of light from the stage. She had made her way to the dance floor with Eazy, who help her make the way to the center.

Eilla moved slowly, trying her best to remain in some rhythm, failing miserably. Eazy smiled at her, sliding in behind her, placing his hands on her sides to help her ease into the music. Eilla didn't even realize what was happening, she only knew she was swaying back and forth in someone's arms. The fact that they weren't Ben's hardly crossed her mind, but neither did the realization that they weren't Ben. Her eyes were still only barely open and she felt the hands sliding slightly under her shirt, resting on her bare hips sliding slowly to her belly and back. It felt wonderful. She completely shut her eyes and didn't even attempt to move, wanting to simply fall asleep. The room seemed almost silent and empty, she could not comprehend the things happening around her.

Eilla opened her eyes slightly, confused and unable to move. "She just had too much fun tonight," She heard a muffled voice say. She slowly passed her eyes around the unfamiliar vehicle she was laying in. She let it sink in for a moment that she was in the back of a cab, and she suddenly felt like she was going to be sick. Who was she with? Where were they going? She tried to force herself to speak but it was impossible. She let out a painful groan and tried to bring a hand to her stomach. She did so with much effort, realizing there was a hand already there. She heard mumbling, but had no clue what was being said. She tried to ask who it was. She mustered up another incomprehensable noise, trying to ask for Ben. Her eyes fell shut once again.
