Chapter VI. 'Tears of Ice and Blood'
Chapter VI “Tears of Ice and Blood”
Suichi woke to a gentle prodding on his shoulder. He opened his eyes and he flinched when he saw Rukia’s face right in front of his.
“Merry Christmas, big guy. Time for presents.” She said with a smile.
He stretched as she left his room and he yawned as he stood. He went to the bathroom, brushed his teeth and ran a comb through his hair before he got dressed and went to the living room. Every one was up and holding a present. He grinned remembering this as the first Christmas he’d had since he was a kid with a tree and presents. He sat in his chair and Rukia dropped a present in his lap. She looked at her watch.
“What are we…” started Suichi and she held up her hand.
“Three…two…one…” she counted down and the door banged open.
Gen walked in with a trunk strapped to his back and a Santa had perched side ways on his head.
“Ho, ho to all you hoes.” He said as he came in and they all threw pillows at him.
He chuckled and set the trunk down and gave his sister a kiss on the cheek before he sat down and cracked it open.
“You’ve known us for about a day and you got us presents?” asked Suichi skeptically.
He shrugged, “Hey you guys get something for taking care of my little sister. If it weren’t for you guys she’s be dead.”
Shane jumped onto his lap and wrapped his arms around his neck.
“I don’t need a present if I can have Santa’s lap.” Said Shane as he fluttered his eye lashes.
Gen glared at him and pushed him off.
“As if pretty boy.” He growled.
Shane stood, “At least you think I’m pretty.”
“Oh…just sit down!” he finally said aggravated.
The others chuckled as he poured the presents out.
“Ok…let the wrapping paper fly!” yelled Rukia and they tore into their presents.
Suichi shook his head and he unwrapped the gift that Rukia had given him. It was a long box and he lifted the top off and his eyes widened as he took out a long, straight blade katana. The sheath had a dragon engraved on it and it had a leather string on the end with a few charms hanging from it. One was a small bell, the other was a tiger’s head and the third was a yin-yang. He drew it from the sheath and it was sharpened to perfection and genuinely handcrafted rather than factory made.
“Damn Rukia, where did you get this?” he asked as he ran his thumb over the blade and found it actually made a cut.
She grinned, “I have connections. I know you used to take swordsmanship when you were younger.”
He looked at her, “How did you know?”
“I went to the same dojo and your name is on the outside under graduated students.” She explained.
Kyo gasped as he opened his present from Rukia, “Oh my God! This is real Corinthian leather!”
Kyo stood and slipped on a very sharp leather jacket and wrapped his arms around it.
“You have…exquisite taste my dear.” He told her as he fingered the collar.
She chuckled, “Well I try.”
She unwrapped one from her brother and she smiled widely and Suichi’s jaw dropped as she pulled out an Uzi.
“Oh sa-weet!” she said excitedly as she sighted it, “I get my exquisite taste from you.”
Shane unwrapped his from Rukia and his face lit up.
“Holy crap, is this real!?” he exclaimed as he pulled a silver chain with a diamond studded Japanese Kanji symbol that for some reason said ‘Hanjiro’.
She nodded, “Well not real diamonds, it’s real silver and Austrian crystal.”
Kaito looked at it, “Why does it say Hanjiro on it?”
“None of your business thank you.” He replied before he slipped it on.
Kaito ripped open his present now excited, it was a flat package and he quickly ripped it open and sat down hard, “Oh my God…is this signed by all of them?”
She nodded, “Their first album and all of the members of The Pillows.”
“This is awesome! How did you get this…wow…for real.” He put his hand and his head.
“I wonder what big brother got.” Said Gen as he opened a gift from her and he grinned and rubbed his chin as he pulled out some expensive drawing paper and a full set of calligraphy pens and brushes, “Man I’ve wanted one of these since I was a kid.”
Yataro giggled as he opened his and in it was a diamond gage for his ear, “This is perfect. I’ve been looking for one of these forever.”
Eichi grinned when he pulled out a book of poetry, “My favorite student, you know me too well.”
Every one looked at Toya who had yet to open even one gift, he was being very quiet as well. He looked up when he felt the eyes on him and Rukia got up and she left the room and she came back with a square metal box with a ribbon on it.
“Thought I forgot you huh?” she said with a small smile.
He chuckled and he took the box from her and he pulled off the ribbon and opened it. His brows slowly knitted together as his lips parted in wonder. His eyes slowly traveled up to her and she grinned coolly. Every one was now silent looking at him as he lifted from the box a small flat glass case with a silver and gold band on red cushion. It was adorned with these odd runes that no one recognized and at the front of it was a small round pain of crystal, with a gold eye over it and two blue gems at the sides of it. He turned it around in his hand and looked at the front.
“What is it?” Suichi finally asked.
Toya placed it back in the box and he closed it not looking at any one and he stood and took the box to his room. He soon came back and he looked at her and shook his head. Every one else was confused and looking at one another.
“…what is it!?” persisted Suichi.
Toya sighed, “It’s nothing Suichi and I’d advise you to cast your mind from it.”
“Oh yeah that’s gonna be easy.” Muttered Kyo shaking his head.
Every one was enjoying their gifts as Rukia went into the kitchen to start cooking for that night. Toya after a while slipped in after her. Suichi looked at the others who were preoccupied with other things. He rose and he went and he leaned outside of the door listening in.
“That was a real nice stunt Rukia.” Said Toya leaning against the counter.
She put a big pan with the turkey in it on the table, “Hey I thought you would like it.” She replied off handedly.
He rolled his eyes exasperatedly, “You know what I mean. People can’t know about this, you know it’s dangerous enough that they know what you are.”
“And you don’t think they can be trusted?” she asked him folding her arms.
He replied very bluntly, “No, I don’t. I only trust one person and that one person already knows more about me than he should.”
She shook her head and pulled on an apron, “Toya, it’s going to come out into the open eventually. I saw it myself and it can either happen the way I saw it or you can soften the blow.”
She grabbed a mixing bowl and began to mix the stuffing and he sighed and pulled in an apron as well and tied back his hair. He washed his hands and helped her with the dinner.
“Look Rukia, even if they will eventually find out I don’t want to end up like you. You know my powers are more valuable to people like your father.” He muttered to her so Suichi could barely hear, “I don’t…think any one of these guys or you would sell me out, but I just want to keep it as close to home as possible. Ok?”
She nodded, “Yes, I understand…but there is some one here you have to level with. He deserves to know what you can tell him.”
He sighed and tilted his head back looking at the ceiling and then he looked at her, “…Do I have to be the freak again?”
She chuckled and patted his head, “No more of a freak than I or him. Trust me…I doubt him of all people would consider you a freak. I hate to say it, but I think he favors you out of the other four.” She told him as she started mixing.
He frowned, “You really think so?”
“Yeah I do, why don’t you ask him yourself. Suichi, I know you’re there.” She said with out looking up.
Suichi sighed and Toya groaned as he walked in and he stomped his feet, “Why Suichi!? Why do you have to be so damn nosy all the time!?”
“When else have I been nosy before?” he asked defensively.
Both Rukia and Toya gave him dull looks, “…Ok fine so I’m a little nosy. But apparently you have something to tell me that I’m not getting here.”
Toya glared at Rukia before he went to the kitchen door and he rammed it outwards and he heard several people hit the floor.
“Oh fuck…” they heard Kyo groan and Toya opened the door.
“Get the hell away from the door!” he yelled at them.
They grumbled and went back to the living room and he sighed and closed the door and went back to the table and took the stuffing from Rukia and started stuffing the turkey.
“Look Suichi you probably already guessed from Rukia’s incessant prodding that…I’m a seer.”
Suichi gasped in mock surprised and shook his head, “No it can’t be!”
Toya glared at him and smacked him on the head with the wooden spoon and Suichi chuckled.
“But I’m a different kind of seer than you and Rukia.” He continued.
Suichi had a seat wanting to hear this in depth, “There are…different kinds of seers?”
He nodded, “Many different kinds. Like you, you are very weak in power right now, but you are a mystic, a soul reader if you will. You can access the portal in a person’s eyes and read right into their souls and see their greatest emotional burdens. Rukia is a medium which is rare because that means she has a little bit of many different seer powers. Hints why they call it a medium.”
“And you are?” he pressed.
Toya sighed, “I’m an…oracle. I see things in the future and I purposely place myself in situations to see to it that they do happen or they don’t happen. I’m more of…a tool I guess because I allow myself to be used to meet a better end. I can also convert my mental energy into…physical energy.” He explained.
“Whoa, whoa…wait…physical energy…you mean like… telekinesis… right?” asked Suichi in disbelief.
Toya sighed and he looked at a knife on the table and it floated up as he followed it with his eyes. Suichi’s jaw dropped and he stood up. He waved his hand under it and Rukia giggled.
“Show him your pyrokinesis.” She told him.
“P…Pyrokinesis? Like…fire?” he asked.
He grabbed the knife out of the air and he lifted his hand and a flame appeared in it and then went out. He looked a little disconcerted not looking at Suichi, but Suichi just shook his head.
“…Toya that was the most bad ass thing I have ever seen.” He said slowly laughed, “I swear, that is…it’s awesome.”
Toya half smiled and he sighed, “Other people don’t really think that.”
“What do you mean? They think you’re a freak like you said.” Asked Suichi.
“That’s the very least of it. Mortals see us more as property rather than people. The fake ones that sit under curtains with those glass balls tarnish what we really stand for and when some one genuine is found out…bad things happen to that person. Like Rukia and her mother, her father who is a normal mortal found out about their powers and used her mother until she was almost destroyed rather than killed. Like what happened to you when you saw into Eichi’s soul, things like that happen to us when we over use our powers.” He explained to him gravely.
Rukia nodded, “My mother was a shell of a woman by the time my father was finished with her. It might have actually been a mercy killing that he gave her.”
Suichi looked between them, “I take it this happens a lot?”
“It’s not very common for one of us to be captured, but those of us who are usually die way before we should.” Toya replied as he pulled over a few bags of vegetables and he started chopping them.
Suichi sighed and leaned against the table, “You were captured right?”
Toya shook his head, “I never went to an orphanage Suichi. I was kidnapped from my family when I was very young. My entire family was one of very important oracles so I had to learn to use my powers by the time I was four or else I would be killed. I was hidden in a mortal form so my family couldn’t find me.”
That kind of struck Suichi, “…A mortal form?”
Rukia sighed and she sat down just dropping the kitchen act, “You have to understand something Suichi. Oracles are more rare than mediums are and they are…not even human. To other seers they are above all else, they are divine creatures revered by our people and never appear to mortals in their original forms. The fact that Toya is here, as a hooker…God if this ever reached the ISC…that’s the Inner Seer Circle by the way…this place would be taken over and my entire family would be slaughtered for the indignity.”
Suichi was just…flabbergasted. He was just trying to fathom this. Little Toya was some sort of divine being in disguise living right under Suichi’s nose for the last three years. Toya slowly looked up at him and he swallowed and looked back down. Suichi suddenly realized Toya was afraid of what he’d think of him. Which is probably why he didn’t tell him about it before, but what he didn’t get was why Toya cared so much about what he thought.
“So that thing that Rukia gave you…” he started and Toya sighed.
“That is a relic of my family. It is used as a symbol of…royalty and it increases and enhances my power.” He hurried on, but Suichi held up his hand as a clear stop sign.
He blinked hard, “Royalty? What are you some kind fo prince?”
“W…well…”
“Oh my God…ok…give me a second here.” Said Suichi leaning back and rubbing his face.
His head was swimming with all of this. There was no way all of this could be real. He didn’t even know if he believed in this psychic stuff and here he was talking about how a man he had lived with for the last three years wasn’t even human! Toya used to be just some guy who was almost a kid he admired for his strength. Toya had wit beyond any of the other guys he had seen come through here and what’s more he always seemed to be able to back it up when things started to go down hill. And now here he’s finding out he had all these strange powers and…he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Ok I’m just trying to grasp all of this stuff. It’s just…it seems so…insane. Before Rukia came into the picture I didn’t even know seers were actually real outside of the circus. Then I’m one, she’s one and you’re not even human and some revered kidnapped prince to boot! You know I don’t think…any different of you Toya, but I really would have been happy being ignorant.” He said frankly and set his chin on his fist.
Toya chuckled with a small smile, “Suichi you’re the one who was at the door.”
He scratched his cheek and shrugged, “So what you couldn’t have slammed the door in my face like you did the other guys?”
Rukia just went, “Ugh! You are impossible Suichi!”
He stuck his tongue out at her and winked at Toya who was giggling.
“Well Rukia was right before, I do have to tell you all of this. Everything happens for a reason Suichi whether or not you choose to believe so…and we met for a reason.” Toya told him and he sat down and he pulled his hair around front and played with it nervously as he talked, “You have…far more in your future than just this whore house. I can’t tell you what it is now, but you have the right to at least know…you won’t die old and in debt like you once presumed. Your life will be…free once again soon and when it is…you will enter a realm of chaos with more dangers and joys than you care to experience. Your powers will take you to discover a world most only read about in fantasies. You will find out things about your blood and my blood that will take you back centuries into the most pristine and ancient cults and practices… I hope you have an open mind and are a fast learner…because things you once found simple to believe or disbelieve will soon become cryptic and convolute. When you leave here…any sense of normality will leave you and surrealism shall become…your new reality.”
Suichi was set starring at his eyes as he spoke. He felt that locked in feeling again as he began to sink into his eyes. But in and instant he was forced out as he saw a rainbow sheen like an oil film pass over Toya’s eyes which were now so intense and devoid of any innocence or cuteness they once possessed it was almost scary.
Toya’s eyes softened a little and he looked down and back up at Suichi.
“We’re all in this together now…and of what we are facing I am unsure…but I know what ever it is, it’s a grave matter indeed.”
* * *
Suichi decided to stay away from the kitchen as Toya and Rukia finished cooking. He sat in deep thought about the things Toya had said. Suichi once found Toya young and cute as smart and strong as he was. It was almost as if something had taken him over in the kitchen. It was an odd vibe he got from him, like he wasn’t listening to a twenty one year old, but some one with great experience on their soul. And the things he told him were quite disturbing. On the plus side, if what he said was true, he wouldn’t be whore for that much longer, but he’d be trading it for what sounded like a hellish life.
He rubbed his head, he had a head ache. Not just from all of these ridiculous concepts, but also from being thrown from Toya’s mind. He hadn’t even realized he was about to do it, when that rainbow thing blocked him out. From the sound of what he told him about using his power Toya probably did him a favor blocking him out. He just wished he could block himself from doing it. The others had asked once about what went on only to receive a huge evil glare from Suichi that shut them up.
Suichi needed a drink, and for once something stronger than beer. He went to the kitchen to get some of Kyo’s scotch and he stopped when he heard them talking, but Toya sounded upset this time.
“He probably hates me now. I’m the one who friggen ruined his life with this whole premonition crap.” Said Toya as he yanked a dish from the oven and put it on the cooling rack.
“Sweetie, you’re making way too much out of this. He doesn’t hate you…it’s just…his tiny pea sized brain is struggling to keep up with these ideas and it’s making him mad.” She told him making Suichi muttered angrily to himself.
Toya sighed hard and he leaned against the counter and pushed his bangs from his face, “You know when I was eighteen and I was sold I thought this was so much better than my old life because of him…he took care of me. He took care of all of us. He could actually make… having kinky and sometimes disgusting sex with strangers for money not seem so bad. And no matter how much he ever owed or how far behind or how much trouble he got into…he was always there to save one of our asses if we couldn’t make enough. I mean I know Suichi is in general a closed off guy, but…it’s like paranoia. I can’t help, but feel he resents me for making him worry about me or for bringing this crap on him now.”
Rukia leaned next to him, “It is paranoia. Suichi doesn’t resent you for anything. You’re obsessing over nothing; I mean your nothing more than cool and indifferent to absolutely anything else.”
Toya was silent for a while and he twiddled his thumbs slowly and Rukia kind of straightened out and looked at him.
“Toya…do you love Suichi?” she asked him almost in disbelief.
Suichi’s heart skipped a beat as Toya swallowed and went red in the face, “…It’s wrong I know…Suichi’s my friend and I know he could never love some one like me.”
Rukia shook her head, “Why would you think that?”
“…Because now he has you to compare me to…and I’m just…too inadequate. Regardless of my blood the only thing I’ll ever make is a good whore. And he deserves some one so much better than me.” He replied somberly and he stood and left the kitchen.
Rukia sighed and she walked over to the oven and she lowered the door and she basted the browning turkey. Suichi didn’t know why he felt like such an ass, but he really did right now. He was stunned if anything that Toya was…in love with him…but what shocked him the most was how completely damaged Toya was. He didn’t think anything for himself at all. It was just so sad to him that Toya was so lacking in self-esteem. Suichi slipped in like he hadn’t heard anything. Toya came back in and went over to a pot and stirred it. Toya glanced at him as he went to the cabinet for the much more needed than before scotch.
He saw Toya duck his head when he took out the scotch and he suddenly looked miserable. Suichi put it back and rubbed his face. He wanted to say something to Toya or take him aside, but he felt too cowardly at the moment. He just grabbed a beer and went sit in the living room again.
Toya was right, he was nosy and it would be so much better if he could just stop himself, but damn it all he couldn’t.
When dinner finally came around the table was set all pretty, the house smelled delicious from Rukia and Toya’s cooking. Every one gathered to the table and Rukia and Toya started carrying in the sumptuous dishes. Shane’s eyes grew as wide as silver dollars as they set down the entire spread. Stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, rice dressing, steamed veggies, mashed potatoes and then Rukia carried in the big brown turkey.
Shane shook his head, “I feel like I should be hearing my loud mouth aunt talking to my mother and my two uncles fighting over the carving knife.”
Every one chuckled, “For those of you lacking in religion here, tune me out, ‘cause I’m saying grace. I just feel that lucky.”
That drew another chuckle, but they joined her in saying grace feeling a little blessed themselves. After grace was said Rukia handed the knife and the serving fork to Suichi.
“I don’t know how to carve a turkey.” He replied.
“You’re the oldest. It’s tradition.” Rukia said.
He snorted and gave them to Shane, “There the oldest American here.”
Shane rolled his eyes and he stood and he carved the turkey. Every one was soon served and talking and eating.
“You two have outdone yourselves.” Kyo commented.
Rukia giggled, “Thank you, we try.”
“I didn’t know you could cook Toya. We spent all those nights eating ramen and here you are a gourmet chef.” Added Kaito.
Toya smiled and thanked him. It was the perfect façade for Christmas. Almost like a dysfunctional family trying to be something they weren’t for the sake of the holiday. But as fake as it was the dinner was wonderful. Perhaps a break from reality.
After dinner was finished and the plates were clear Toya and Rukia brought in desert. Pumpkin pie, apple pie and just for the hell of it sweet dumplings.
Every one left the table full and feeling the effects of the food coma overcoming them. Suichi grabbed some of the dishes and went to the kitchen with them. Toya was at the sink and Rukia set some dishes in it and she looked back. Suichi pointed his head to the door and she looked back and nodded before she left. Suichi went to the sink and he slipped some dishes in. Toya looked up at him.
“Hey, you’re gonna be my helper?” he asked with a small smile.
“Yeah the chick was cooking with a stab wound in her back, if that doesn’t make some one feel horrible nothing will.” He replied and Toya shook his head.
They did the dishes for a while in silence while Suichi tried to figure out what to say before it came spilling out of his mouth and he said something bad. He opened his mouth several times only to bring himself back to silence. Toya finally dropped the dishes and he turned to him with his arms folded.
“Ok, you’re trying to either say something or you breathe like a fish out of water.” He said a little ticked.
Suichi sighed, “There’s just…a lot of things to say and I don’t want them to come pouring out of me.”
Toya shook his head and went back to the dishes.
“I know you must be furious at me for all of this.” He said a little upset.
“It’s…not about that, Toya. It’s about…you and me.” He finally said and Toya dropped a dish and fumbled to catch it before it hit the floor.
He didn’t look up at him, but he glanced to the side and went back to washing dishes with his shaking hands.
“Y…you and me?” he asked nervously.
Suichi nodded, “I’m gonna go ahead and say this…I feel…and I use this term loosely…closer to you than the other guys. And I want you to know; I’m not mad or pissed off about anything you told me today. In fact I’m still regarding it as a dream until things start shifting into drive again.” Toya giggled a little and Suichi continued, “I’ll deal with what ever, when I have to. I mean it’s not your fault this stuff is happening, you just told me about it before hand. I’m not one to shoot the messenger.”
Toya nodded, “Thank you, I was actually kind of worried that you were mad at me.”
He shook his head, “No I’m not. There is something else I want to tell you though.”
“What?”
“…Toya…you were the last person to come here when this odd little posse we have was completed. And I always end up having to save some one’s ass when ever a new guy comes in, but you…I never had to worry about you. It was like you already knew every trick there was and you didn’t really need me. I definitely respected you a lot more. Because I remember when I was eighteen and I first came to live here I was scared out of my mind.” He told him.
Toya looked at him, “You were?”
Suichi nodded, “Truthfully I had no idea the mafia was even real. And then some goons bust into my room in the middle of the night, drag me out of bed and take me here and tell me this is where I’d be living from now on. You’re just…you’re strong and smart and people wanna buy you all the time. And you may think that’s a flaw, but the only reason that is, is because men can only dream of having some one like you and that’s as close as they can ever get to having you.”
Toya smiled and started drying the dishes, he glanced at him, “You…really think that?”
“Of course.”
Toya closed the cabinet and he turned around and leaned against the counter.
“Why are you saying all of this now?” he asked him.
Suichi sighed and he lifted a spoon like a microphone, “My name is Suichi Yukimura and I’m nosy.”
Toya’s jaw dropped and Suichi saw him panic instantly.
“You heard all of that! Oh my God!”
“Toya…”
“I said all of that crap and you…!” he walked across the kitchen and put his hands on his head, “Oh my God…”
“Toya, Toya relax!” said Suichi walking over to him.
Toya turned around and he had tears in his eyes. He ran his fingers through his hair and gripped it.
“I can’t believe you heard that…” he said silently.
“You could have just told me.” Suichi told him, “Calm down. Look I’m nosy and I’m prying I actually get that less than redeeming from my mother.”
“No I couldn’t have just told you, it’s not that easy just telling some one…” he started, but couldn’t finish.
Suichi stepped up to him and Toya looked away and stepped back, but Suichi pushed him back against the wall and he started a little and slowly looked up.
“Tell some one…what?” asked Suichi silently.
Toya went a little red in the face and he let out a small shuddering breath.
“Well?” he persisted.
Toya swallowed and took a deep breath and said in a hushed voice, “That you love them…but what makes it so hard…is to know they can’t love you back.”
“Well…it’s not so much I can’t love you back…I’m just not good enough for you.” Was Suichi’s reply.
Toya’s face went deep red and his eyes widened, “W…what… uh… why would you…think that?”
“For one…I’m ten years older than you and if that happened we couldn’t make fun of Kyo and Yataro any more.” He replied and Toya kind of smiled, “And…I’ve never had a real lover before so I wouldn’t even know how to treat some one in a relationship.”
“You’ve…never had a boyfriend or a girl friend?” he asked amazed.
He shook his head, “As Eichi explained I was a loser in high school and after that I was having sex with too many people to actually have a serious relationship. And unlike Kyo I’m not going to use some one ten years younger than me on the side.”
“Yeah well I’m not eighteen and incase you forgot…I’m a whore too.” Replied Eichi with a small chuckled, “I’ve had one lover in my past, but I’m willing to bet you could ignore me and I’d be better treated.”
Suichi nodded and looked like he was thinking for a moment and he looked down at him again. He looked into his eyes…God what was with him and other people’s eyes! It was almost like he was drowning in those pools of blue again. Except this time he wasn’t getting pulled in by the impassible portal. It was just…entrancing. Suichi braced his hands against the wall on the sides of Toya’s head and he kissed him. Toya’s eyes widened not expecting what had just happened, but he sighed and quickly embraced the kiss. Suichi slid his arm around him and pulled him against his body and slipped his fingers through his hair.
The mood was killed when they all fell out of the door again and spilled onto the floor. They parted and this time they didn’t scramble to get back. They were all starring at them from either where they stood or the floor. Suichi and Toya both looked at each other and they both rubbed the backs of their heads. Rukia shook her head with a small chuckle.
“Merry Christmas indeed.
Shane chuckled, “Just like Christmas at home.”
Kyo stood and he looked disgusted.
“Ok…you two are such hypocrites for real. I mean I’m still in my twenties. Suichi is thirty one, he’s old.” Said Kyo and Suichi flipped him off.
“Hey I hardly know any of you guys and this still seems a little weird to me.” Interjected Gen.
“Ok, every one just shut the fuck up for a second huh!?” yelled Suichi now feeling completely embarrassed and hassled at the moment…he just kissed Toya and he was flirting with him!
The last fifteen minutes felt like some one else was directing his body. He growled when there was a knock at the door and he went and opened it.
“What!?” he yelled irritably, but he swallowed back anything else as he was starring at one of Gensai’s agents.
He was the man who negotiated all of his business with his clients since Gensai was too important to fraternize with whores as this agent often said.
Kenji Hashibara
Age: 39
Height: 5ft. 9in.
Build: Average
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Hazel
Ethnicity: Japanese
Sexual Standing: Straight
“…Hashibara-san…what are you doing here?” asked Suichi bitterly.
The others slowly stepped out, but Rukia and Gen had smartly disappeared.
They all looked at the clean cut man with the slick hair, glasses and mustache. Kenji cleared his throat and handed Suichi a letter and he opened it and read. His face slowly fell and he looked up.
“How can this be? I have until the end of the month to reach my quota!” he exclaimed indignantly.
“Well in the past three days your debt has spiked from 30,000,000 to 70,000,000 yen.” He said coldly.
Suichi kind of staggered back from this and the others looked horrified.
“How could …that bitch lose …40,000,000 yen in three days…?” he asked slowly white in the face.
Kenji pushed up his glasses, “Apparently she placed more money in a confident stock for a new franchise. The whole thing went belly up over the course of the last three days. Your mother is bankrupt and was thrown another forty million in debt.” He explained as Suichi’s eyes slowly wandered to the floor.
“I don’t believe this…” he muttered.
“Due to extreme increase your quota has been upped again from 400,000 yen a month to 700,000 yen a month. Seeing as this is an impossible sum Kawakami-san has given the orders that you be sold tomorrow evening to save him the money on both time and housing cost.” He continued just as coldly, “The only way you can avoid this is if you can produce the increase in the next twenty-four hours…and for the first time I think in my entire life of business…I am very. Sorry. Tomorrow at nine in the evening if you don’t have the money some agents will come to collect you and with them will be…Miss Azami Tottori…”
Toya gasped a little when he spoke that name. He turned to leave, but he stopped.
“Again…I am very sorry.” He said before he left.
Suichi dropped the letter completely broken. He backed up against the wall and he slid down to the floor and gripped his hair.
“H…How…am I supposed to come up…with 40,000,000 in the next twenty-four hours?” he asked weakly almost on the verge of tears.
“Suichi…” started Toya, but he couldn’t come up with anything.
Gen and Rukia stepped out of the hall as Suichi stared at the ground completely lost.
“I’m…going to be sold.”
To be continued…

Rosettamoon: Come on people, you're killing me here! I've got two reviews and it's from the same person! {btw tanx Jinnie} Give me something! Say you hate it! Say you think it's mildly ok! I don't care, just a little feed back would be nice! *pants* Ok...I'm done now. Please review. ^-^
* * *
