Some Kind Of Wonderful

A/n Hey there, Has here. Just wanted to answer a question most of you are asking in your reviews. And that being, "Why is Chase with Nicole?" Well it's simple, he loves Leila but obviously he can’t tell her his feeling because he's afraid he will lose her. So in order to forget about his feelings for Leila he dates Nicole. Who he can't stand but hey love is never fair...is it?"

Chapter six: Battle of the Sexes.

Camp site 2.05 am.

*Snore* *Snore* *Snore*

"Shh."

Leila giggled as she crept into the boy's tent with Eyvah following closely behind "Alright, I'll get Chase and you go for Jay." She whispered quietly.

Eyvah nodded and stifled a giggle. "I can't believe you're making me do this." She whispered back looking at the boys sleeping peacefully.

"Oh relax, we do this annually. We all know it's a joke, so know one gets hurt." Leila said in a hushed tone as she fumbled with Chase's clothes. "Besides, the best defence is offence. The boys aren't expecting us to attack so soon."

Eyvah looked at Jaiden and frowned. "Sorry." she muttered under her breath and did her task while Leila did hers and they rushed out of the tent back to their own.

Saturday morning. 7.30 am.

"Morning's here, the morning's here, sunshine is here..."

Chase yawned and rolled over in his sleeping bag when he heard Isabelle singing loudly from outside the tents. A rumble of groans sounded from around Chase and he looked up to see Dayne and Jaiden wrap their pillows over their ears to block out the singing.

"God, must she sing that every year?" Kyle mumbled from under his pillow.

"The woman is evil she knows that’s the only thing that would wake us." Jaiden said sitting up and grabbing his things for a quick wash off. Luckily this place actually had showers, not great but it was usable.

"You guys know the drill; don’t make me sing the chorus..." Isabelle's voiced echoed in the silent morning.

"For the love of god woman, don't, we're up!" Jordan's voice cut through the silence.

"Dayne...I know your still sleeping. I swear I'll come in there and drag you out in your sleeping bag," Isabelle said again. "Boxers and all"

"I'm up, I'm up!" he said cracking his neck as he shot up from his sleeping bag. Chase laughed as he quickly dressed himself in his beige shorts and white vest top he had set out the night before.


The boys piled out of the tents, settling on to the table to have breakfast. The girls were already at the table eating sandwiches. Jordan came up behind his wife and wrapped his arms around here waist and kissed her cheek lovingly.

"Good morning, my wife." He said in a low whisper. Isabelle smiled loving at her husband and handed him his sandwich.

"Good morning, my husband." Jordan smiled kissed her once more on the lips and sat down pulling her into his lap talking quietly amongst them.

Josh and Kelly who were sitting side by side glanced at the said lovers and then each other with smiles on their faces.

Meanwhile Chase sat beside Leila and kissed her temple. "Morning sweets, sleep well?" he asked with a smile and itched his chest.

Leila smiled up at him brightly; she nodded while chewing on her sandwich watching Chase as he scratched his legs.

"Morning all," Jaiden chirped cheerily as he walked over to the other after being freshly showered and ready to start the day.

Everyone looked at Jaiden with wide eyes. He looked confused as to why his family was staring at him until Leila, Dayne and Kyle all burst out laughing.

"Jaiden what the hell have you done to your hair?" Isabelle asked with a chuckle.

Jaiden frowned and touched his hair. "Nothing, I haven't gelled it yet." He said with a shrug. The whole group began laughing uncontrollably. Dayne was laughing so much he turned red. Leila was flopped onto Chase's chest, laughing herself to tears, who in return were cackling with amusement.

"What the hell is so funny?" Jaiden asked his blue eyes narrowed.

"Wow, green is a real good colour on your J." Josh said in between laughs. Jaiden frowned.

"Green...?" he asked confused.

"Yes green, Jaiden take a look at your hair in the mirror." Isabelle told her son while Jordan laughed at him openly.

Jaiden walked over to one of the SUV's he looked at his hair in the window and his blue eyes widened.

"AHHHH!" he yelped looking in the side mirror with a panic. Everyone else erupted into laughter once again.

"I suggest you change your shampoo little brother." Leila said with a giggle. Jaiden looked up at her his blue eyes blazed with fury.

"It was YOU!" he barked pointing at her. Leila laughed in response and looked at Chase to find him itching like mad beside her. She only laughed harder with Eyvah right by her side.

"I'm gonna kill you!" Jaiden growled moving towards his older sister who jumped up from the table running away from an angry Jaiden who continued to Chase her around the car.

"Oh come on, I think it looks cute. You totally look like Shrek." She giggled running around the car. Jaiden growled in anger and chased after her.

"Damn it Leila! How many times not the HAIR!" he grunted after her. Leila ran away and settled herself behind Jordan who was chuckling.

"Daddy, help me"

"Hell no, you made your bed and now you lie in It." he told her and finished off his chicken sandwich with a shake of his head.

"You're gonna pay for this, Leila." He warned. "When does this crap wash out?"

Leila wrinkled her nose. "Well, the bottle said a week..."

"A WEEK...?" Jaiden shrieked.

Leila laughed but nodded. "Damn it Leila I have a date with a COLLEGE CHICK on TUESDAY!" he roared running a hand through his lime green hair.

"Oh relax, its only crazy colour, it'll wash off by then." she said with a girly giggle. Jaiden glared at her.

"It better or I swear you will wake up bald come Tuesday." He said and walked off mumbling profanities under his breath.

Jordan looked back at his daughter with amusement. "I swear you get your wickedness from your mother." He said with a chuckle.

"I heard that!" Isabelle snapped from the other end of the table. Leila and Jordan both laughed.

"Alright, everybody ready to go hiking?" Jordan called out to the group who mumbled and groaned in response.

In the distance Dayne watched Chase with amusement. "Dude, what's your problem?" he asked Chase who swore under his breath as he continued to itch.

"Man, I think I'm allergic to something." He said itching, the inside of his legs.

Dayne frowned and cast a look at his sister who watched Chase squirming with pure amusement. He laughed softly and shook his head. Leila and Dayne are the masters at playing pranks. Even though Leila's twenty-three she rarely acts her age when around the guys, she's great to have around.

He made his way over to Leila and stood beside her. "Itching powder?" he questioned, Leila giggled and nodded. "Nice..." he said with a chuckle high five-ing his sister.

Chase looked up and found Leila grinning at him with that cheeky look in her eyes. He narrowed his eyes at her and for a moment glanced down at himself.

He chuckled and shook his head at her in way to say 'bad move' "You wanna play baby, we'll play." He uttered to himself and hurried off into the tent to change into something that’s not covered in itching dust.

An hour later the group were hiking up a steep hill. "Alright, I can't feel my legs." Kelly mumbled clinging to her husband for support. "Whose idiotic idea was it to go hiking for five miles?" She said huffing for breath.

"Kelly, stop complaining, we do this every year." Jordan shot back.

"I'm having fun." Isabelle added with a grin.

Kelly shot her dark look. "Well you would, your husbands carrying you." Kelly grumbled. Isabelle laughed and placed a kiss on her husband's cheek.

"Hey, it's not my fault my husband loves and spoils me. Ain't that right baby?" she asked Jordan who grunted.

"Yes, that’s right; unlike SOME people I know how to treat my woman." He said looking at Josh who scowled. He looked back at Isabelle, "You better give me that massage you promised, or I'm dropping your ass off this cliff." He warned. Isabelle giggled and nibbled on his ear.

"Aww baby, when have I ever broken a promise to you?" she asked her voice silky.

Jordan frowned. "Um let's see. The other night you promised me you would, do stuff, but you fell asleep half way through." He said in a hushed tone.

"I said I was sorry and I made it up to you that afternoon in your office." She said and smiled when her husband chuckled. "Remember your partner walked in and I was stuck under your desk for twenty minutes." She reminded him.

"Mmm, that was a great day." He said with a goofy grin.

"Sure. I still have the carpet burns on my knees to prove it." Jordan laughed as Isabelle continued to whisper things in his ear.

Eyvah sighed as she walked beside Dayne. She watched Isabelle and Jordan admiringly. Was it possible to be so in love after so many years?

"Hey, you okay?" Dayne's voice cut through her thoughts. She snapped out of her reverie and smiled at him.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking." She said with a shrug.

Dayne regarded her carefully. "About what, you looked like you were off in another planet?" he asked curiously.

"Um, well I was just watching your parents." She said smiling at the older couple. Dayne looked up at his parents and smiled when he saw them looking like they were the only two people in the world.

"Well, after seeing them like that for so long you kind of get used to it." he said looking down at the brunette beside them.

"Yeah, I can imagine what that would be like. But you can't look at them and not want what they have someday."

"I know, they make love seem so simple, don’t they?" Dayne asked glancing at the said couple again.

"They really do, looking at them you wouldn’t think they have been married for twenty years."

Dayne nodded and kicked a rock that was in his way. "Yeah, well, they had their fair share of problems in the past." Eyvah nodded.

"How did they meet?"

Dayne frowned as he thought about the stories their parents told them over the years. "Um, I think dad almost hit her with his car one day when he was out with Aunt Kelly."

Eyvah smiled. "Wow, talk about your big cliché."

Dayne chuckled. "Tell me about it. Mom was new in the city and it turned out she moved in quite close to where dad lived. Apparently after that day Aunt Kelly and mom became best friends." He explained.

"So how did they end up falling in love?" Eyvah asked curiously as they continued walking. "Well, they way dad explained it. He said mom seduced him. Even though she was only sixteen at the time and he was twenty-one." Eyvah's eyes grew wide.

"You mean they dated when she was minor?" Eyvah asked surprised. Dayne chuckled.

"No, they never got together until mom was eighteen and finished high school. But apparently over the two years they never stopped liking or flirting with each other." Eyvah nodded.

"Wow," she breathed. "So tell me, Dayne. What do you see for your future?" she asked curiously.

Dayne licked his lips and shrugged. "I don't really know. I wanna go to college and study to become something important. I wanna try and make a difference in the world."

"You mean like the president of the United States?" Eyvah asked smiling. Dayne chuckled.

"No, I would hate to be the President. I was thinking more along the lines of a doctor or a lawyer."

Eyvah smiled. "I see, so you wanna make a difference by putting away the bad guys or saving lives?" Dayne nodded.

"Yeah, but if I were to be a doctor I would be a paediatrician. I think the worst thing in the world has to be innocent children dying." Dayne explained. He looked at Eyvah who was watching him closely. He felt uncomfortable with her silence so decided to end the silence. "So, how about you, what do you see happening in your future Miss Blake?"

Eyvah looked away from Dayne's sparkling blue eyes and blushed, when he smiled sweetly at her. "Oh, um, promise you won't laugh?" she said biting down on her bottom lip.

"Don't be crazy. Why would I laugh?" he asked arching a brow.
Eyvah shrugged. "I don’t know I wanna be a vet. And I guess a lot of people think it was stupid, said that I could be so much more, but it's what I wanna be." she dropped her eyes from his and looked around the cliff.

"Hey, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. You do what makes you happy and fuck everybody else. The people who love you the most will stand by you and support your dreams no matter what they are." he told her. Eyvah looked up at him, honesty twinkling in his eyes.

"How did you get to be such so, optimistic?" she asked in awe. Dayne smiled but his pinked turned a nice shade of pink.

"Trust me; I'm not always this optimistic. I can be a pessimist too when I wanna be." he said looking ahead as he spoke. "But I was brought up to always think on the positive side of things. Life can be surprising; you just got to be ready to seize the moment." He said with a shrug.

"I guess you're right." Eyvah agreed and glanced back at Jaiden who was talking to his cousin and laughing about something. As if he felt someone watching him he looked up and caught her eyes. He smiled and winked before turning back to his conversation with his cousin.

After the group returned from hiking they were all exhausted. Josh and Chase cooked the burgers and hot dogs over bottles of beer and talks about sports.

Jordan was 'napping' in his tent with Isabelle. Kelly was talking with Leila and Eyvah while Jaiden, Dayne and Kyle were kicking around a football.

"Score...!" Dayne cheered pumping his fist in the air.

"Dude you suck." Jaiden snapped at Kyle who was guarding goal.

"Says the guy, with the bright green hair," Kyle teased causing everyone to laugh.

"Whatever dude, I still look cool." Jaiden said running his fingers through his lime green hair but scowled at Leila at the same time.

"Sure you do, look at the bright side if you get lost we can find you in no time." Kyle laughed.

Jaiden breathed heavily. "Never hit family, never hit family." He mumbled to himself. He opened his eyes and glared at Leila who giggled. "Yeah you laugh it up; I swear you’re going to pay for this." He said and stomped off.

"Dude you got a trail of flies following you." Dayne called out to his brother. "Be sure to call us if you run into E.T." by now Kyle was rolling on the floor with laughter.

"Fuck off, Dayne!" Jaiden called back as he disappeared into the woods.

The girls laughed as they watched Jaiden's green head bopping off in the distance. "You guys are unlike any other family I have ever met." Eyvah said with a laugh.

Leila shrugged. "Yeah, we're kind of crazy. But we all love it that way. It makes life more interesting." She told the younger girl with a smile.

"Yep, you never know what to expect when around us." Kelly said with a bright smile. "Oh, Lei, that reminds me. I kind of overheard the boys talking earlier." She told her niece.

"Oh what were they saying?" she asked curiously.

"Well I heard Chase telling the boys he was going to slip something into your drink. I think it was a mild laxative or something," she said and Leila's jaw dropped.

"Why that little weasel." She said looking at the gorgeous perpetrator. Chase's eyes shot up and caught Leila's gaze.

Leila smiled her best innocent smile at him and he grinned back. He raised his beer bottle to her before taking a sip his eyes still on her.

(Stupid girl, pink)

Leila blew a kiss at him; he caught it and threw it over his shoulder discarding the kiss. Leila laughed and shook her head at him. "You laugh now Chase Adams, you won't be laughing when you're stuck on a toilet seat all night." she said never taking her eyes off him.

Across from Leila Chase smirked and watched her carefully. "I'll get you back you little minx. No ones fuck's with Chase Adams." He mumbled to himself.

An hour later the food was ready and everyone was gathered at the table eating their burgers or hotdogs happily.

Leila kept her eye out the entire night; she was sure all the boys were in on the prank. She was most weary of Chase and Jaiden. "Hey, did you find them?" she asked quietly.

Leila nodded as she chewed on her burger. In the corner of her eye she saw the boys were snickering about something and looking at her. "Alright, whatever they're thinking of doing is going to happen soon, so I'm gonna need someone to distract Chase and Jaiden while I switch the drinks around without them seeing."

Eyvah nodded. "Okay, what you need me to do?" She asked excitedly. She really liked this family, they're absolutely hilarious.

"Well, you can go over to Aunt Kelly and tell her I need her to distract Chase and Jaiden for a few seconds, she'll know what to do." Leila explained and Eyvah nodded.

"Oh, the boys are coming over here." Eyvah told Leila who nodded not looking back. Eyvah smiled at the boys before excusing herself to find Kelly talking to Isabelle and their husbands.

"Good evening, gorgeous." Chase said sitting next to Leila with a smirk.

"Hey there handsome," Leila said with a smile. Chase held out an opened beer bottle to her.

Leila regarded him cautiously. "A drink for the beautiful lady," He said charmingly. Leila feigned a giggle and took the beer bottle from him. The other boys came and sat down around Leila and Chase.

Jaiden smirked at his sister before sipping his drink. His green hair looked brighter under the shimmer of the moon. "Boys, I need you guys for a sec." Kelly called out waving at the boys who grumbled and made their way to her.

Leila took that moment to switch her and Chase's drinks and change the other guy's bottle with the ones she spiked earlier. Chase looked back and saw Leila drinking the beer he gave her looking all innocent. He knew her better than that; she's as devious as they come.

The boys finally returned back to the table where Leila was, still nursing the beer he gave her. Chase grabbed another from the cooler and sat down beside her while the others got back to drinking their own beers.

Leila watched Chase open another beer and take a long sip and push the other away. "Not drinking that one?" she asked pointing to the beer.
Chase shook his head "Nah it's all warm now." He said with a smirk. Leila nodded and smiled at him as he grinned back smugly.

"Hey whose beer is this?" Jordan asked picking up the discarded beer. Leila and Chase exchanged looks and opened their mouths to say something but Jordan had already taken a gulp.

Leila bit her lip guiltily. "Uh-oh," she mumbled when Jordan walked off with said beer. Chase suddenly laughed.

A loud growling sounded from someone at the table. Leila choked on her beer and began coughing uncontrollably. Chase patted her back trying to hide his laughter.

*Growl* *Growl* *Growl*

Kyle looked at Jaiden with a frown. "Dude what the fucks up with you?" he asked.

Jaiden looked up at him with wide eyes. "Dude my stomach...ah fucks," He groaned leaning forward when his stomach growled louder this time. Leila and Chase pressed their lips together tightly to stop laughing.

Moments later another growl sounded but from someplace else. "What the..." Dayne said with a strained voice.

"Shouldn’t you two be on a toilet right about now, you sound like a bunch of constipated cows?" *Grooowwl* Kyle stopped and his eyes grew wide when his own stomach howled. "What the fuck?"

"Oh man, I can’t take anymore." Jaiden said and quickly stood up followed by Dayne then Kyle. All three boys began running to the toilet tripping over each other. "Get the fuck out of my way." Jaiden barked shoving Kyle out of his way.

Leila couldn’t hold her laughter in any longer, she burst out laughing and stood up to follow the boys. Chase who was also laughing followed her.

"Duuude, I was here first." Jaiden grumbled pushing his brother away from the one toilet series of farts and growls coming from all boys.

"I'm older, you fuck." Dayne said pushing Jaiden so he went tumbling to the floor. He was about to open the door when another figure came flying by and pushed Dayne to the floor.

Kyle hopped into the booth and locked the door. He quickly unbuckled his pants and quickly sat on the seat.

"Kyle, you fuck get out." Jaiden said pounding on the door and squirming at the same time.

Leila and Chase came to find Dayne and Jaiden hopping around pushing and shoving each other trying to get to the door. "Ohhh shit. I'm about to bust man," Jaiden groaned with a strained face.
A loud fart came from the toilet followed by an "Ohhh." Chase was on his knees laughing his ass off.

A rustling of tree's and rushed foot steps echoed in the distance. "Jordan...? Isabelle's voice followed shortly as Jordan came running through the woods straight to the toilet. He pulled on the door roughly ignoring his sons who were groaning and passing wind non stop.

"Ohhh...maaaan!" Kyle's voice came from inside the stall. Jordan growled and kicked the door. A shocked Kyle yelped when the door swung open almost hitting him in the face.

"Uncle Jordan, what the..."

"Move..." Jordan groaned. Kyle shook his head.

"I can’t, I can’t move." Kyle said with a groan as another loud growl and a fart sound came. "See."

Jordan pulled Kyle off the seat and shoved him out of the toilet and closed the door. Kyle just about managed to get his boxers on before he got thrown out.

"What the hell is going on here?" Isabelle asked looking at the boys who were on the floor.

"Fuck this." Jaiden said getting up to his feet. "I'm gonna go and dig myself up a shit hole man I can’t stand this shit." Dayne followed suit and so did Kyle after asking for some tissue from Jordan, the only reply he got was a loud grunt.

Isabelle looked at Chase and Isabelle who were laughing so hard they were crying. "Alright what's going on?" she asked her hands on her hips.

"I think they had one too many burgers." Leila laughed. "Oh my god I can’t, I can't. I swear I'm gonna pee myself." Leila cackled and only laughed harder when shed heard the boys howling from somewhere.

An hour and lots of shit later they boys and Jordan were back to normal and exhausted from half hour of shitting out oblivion. Kelly and Josh both joined in with the laughing after they found out what had happened.

Jordan still oblivious to what actually caused his shit fest had sworn off ever eating burgers again...for a long time.

It was now past midnight, everyone was asleep except Leila. She stood on a long log by the lake looking up at the clear sky filled with stars and a beaming full moon.

She was in such deep thought that she didn’t hear the approaching footsteps from behind her. She shivered visible wrapping her arms around herself when a chill ran up her spine.

She gaped when a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her down from the log and back on the ground. "You shouldn’t be out here by yourself, princess." Chase's husky voice whispered into her ear. "You never know what psycho is lurking around."

Leila smiled and relaxed into him, his delicious warmth enveloping her. "The only one lurking is you, Adonis." She said and felt him chuckle. "Don’t think I don’t know that you always watch me when I'm out here after hours."

"And how do you know it’s me exactly?" he asked with a low whisper in her ear,

She shrugged. "I feel you," She said quietly looking up at the moon. "I sense your presence, it’s kind of comforting." Chase smiled and kissed her head.

"Well someone's gotta watch over you, angel." He said tightening his hold on her waist.

"Angel's don't need watching over, they usually do the watching." She said with a soft laugh.

"Hmm, well think of me as an archangel then." He said closing his eyes as he basked in the feeling of having her in his arms.

"You can't watch over me all the time, Chase." She said quietly.

"No, but I can try." He said with a sigh "I'll hold on to you and never let you go."

Leila smiled and closed her eyes as he gently rocked them side to side while he began singing their song in her ear. Because you know, you know that I love you, I loved you all along and I miss you, been far away for far too long. I keep dreaming you'll be with me and you'll never go. Stop breathing if I don’t see you anymore." He sang to her soothingly.

A single tear ran down Leila's cheek. "I wanted, I wanted you to stay. Because I needed, I needed to hear you say. That I love you, I loved you all along. And I forgive you for being away for far too long. So keep breathing, because I'm not leaving you anymore. Believe it, hold on to me and never let me go." she sang back to him.

"I'll never let you go." he whispered in her ear holding her tightly to him. Leila felt her heart rate speed rapidly at his words. "Remember when we first heard that song?" he asked after a beat.

Leila smiled and nodded. "Yeah, we were ten and you were sleeping over at my house that night. We heard the song playing so we went to check it out and saw my parents dancing to it in the living room; all wrapped up in each others arms." Leila said smiling remembering that night.

"I saw a look in your eyes that night, the way you were watching them. I asked you to dance with me at the top of the stairs." He told her with his own smile.

Leila nodded silently. "I made a promise to you that night." he told her.
"Yeah, you did. You promised you would love me forever and never let me go." she told him and he nodded.

"And here I am thirteen years later still holding you in my arms." He said resting his chin on her shoulder. "Forever, never ends and neither will we."

"You promise?" she whispered to him.

"With all my heart," he swore and continued to hold her just as he promised her.

I love this chapter. I thought I would make it a fun chapter but then figured I'll add a bit of fluff into it at the end. I hope you all enjoyed reading as much as I loved writing it.

Let me know what you guys thought. I love Chase. He reminds me of Jordan in his younger years.

The song Chase was singing to Leila was Far away by Nickelback. I love that song. And no I do not own the song or the bad. (I wish I did) so please don’t sue me.
