Okay. Glad you liked my response from before. As I said, it is off the cuff, as much as the rest of my stuff. I’m glad you looked at another of my measly offerings to cyberspace. So….what do you want to know?

J/K but no, at least not consciously. I was just happy as hell to finally get an ending on the bloody thing. I never even noticed that there similar themes running through the two stories.
It was another reviewer (I forgot) who mentioned that I seem to like splitting my main protagonists into multiple personalities. I was like, really? Danny/Danvos Xavier/Sex/Azrael Marcus/Armor I guess I do. But they have all suffered sexual, emotional trauma. Jees, you’re making me think.
THE BLACK TOWER
Danny was the reluctant Dark Lord. He had this title and responsibility thrust on him by his lover. Remember he was dead when Tal made this dark contract.
CAKE
Xavier (as Edward) is the reluctant sex slave. He had his wings and the title of Lord Emperor thrust on him by Armor (as Marcus) by forcing him into Vampirehood without agreement to the convenant. Technically I guess X is dead.
So….I guess there are parallels, however it was not something I set out to do. So now you have me thinking this way, is Tal-lover/Edan-protector remade into Armor/Marcus? If you open up the whole LEV universe; Is Claudius Kev or Milos? Is Lanseng Kev? Is Haley Janelle? What are your thoughts on this?
Q: WHY DID IT TAKE YOU 10 YEARS TO WRITE IT?
I wrote myself into a corner about five times. I wrote from different first person point of views for about 13 chapters. Just wasn’t working so I had to scrap those. I find it easier to write first person. I’m just special that way, I guess. I find third person narrative rather time consuming.
Then I hit the WALL. I couldn’t write a battle scene climax to save my life. Thank the gods for LOTR movies. That got me around that block. By that time, seven years had gone by. Time flies when you got writer’s block.
I never truly finished it until just before posting so technically, it took me thirteen years. Eeep.
Q: WAS THE BLACK TOWER YOUR FIRST WORK AND HOW DID IT COME ABOUT?
This was an interesting question, because I was unpacking some boxes and I found two handwritten manuscripts from 84 & 88. One is complete with maps. I was industrious on that one. One is the “Stone of Murkla” – not posted, not transcribed to computer. It’s about assassins. Look, I was leaning in that direction along time ago! The other is Kingdom Born – a pre-Xena-ish sword and fantasy story. This is slowly getting posted.
I actually showed KB to a English professor and she liked it as a teens read. That sucked the wind out of my sails. I packed it away and just now am looking at trying to revive it. However, the Lord Emperor Vampire series is a vortex, I just can’t break away from right now. I must write about the pod.,,,the pod…the pod….
I cannot remember what started the Black Tower…I just know I have two vivid images from that story. One is where Tal laid Danny on the altar all wet and cold. I can literally see the steam rising off of Tal. Danny is just still and wet. Dark, dark image. The other is Danvos standing all newly tattooed with Denais dripping in blood standing at his side, little sister, is wrapped in a bloody shroud at his feet, all three staring at the newly made Illuminous.
I will make an assumption that I must have had a dream to kick this off.
