Chapter 6
Markus sighed softly, moving about the terminal holding Mikyle in on arm, the carry on bags on the other. He had forgotten how busy LaGuardia was, even at this early hour of the morning. He made his way to the luggage conveyer, ready to pick up the rest of his luggage and head home. It would be a long day, getting Mikyle settled in and catching up on some rest before he had to go back to work in the morning. As he neared it, two unmistakable heads of blood red hair caught his attention. “We really need to stop meeting like this,” he said, smiling.
“Hey cute stuff.” Amber grinned and hugged Mikyle. “And hi cute dad.”
“Hi.” Mikyle yawned. “Seepy.” He hugged his Shamu and laid against his father.
“Aww.” Brianna smiled and handed him one of the Shamu suitcases. “I think this it yours too.”
“So sweet.” Amber picked Mikyle up and let him lay on her chest. He was suckling his thumb and already half asleep. “Guess he isn’t ready to wake up.”
“Yeah, he’s not a morning person,” Markus replied. “Good thing too, as I don’t think that morning traffic would be a good first impression of New York.” He blinked internally, watching her with him. She seemed so natural doing it, and he had struggled slightly trying to learn all the little intricacies of having a young child. And… had she called him cute? He had to admit, they were certainly attractive, but the only way he could tell them apart is when one of them called the other by name. If he happened to turn around and they switched positions, he wouldn’t have known it. It was a little early for him to even consider trying to start anything with either of them yet. Even if he were in a position to be able to have some semblance of life outside of school and work, he now also had Mikyle to watch after. Of course, they could just be teasing with him. He took the bag, and began grabbing the others and placing them on the cart to take to his car.
“Amber, Brianna, the limo is waiting, and I am ready to go. Do you have the luggage ready yet?” Alistair glanced at his daughters, waiting impatiently. He was a bit antsy after the trip, and had a couple of stewardess’ who were ready to help him relief the stress of the long flight and had a ‘welcoming party’ waiting. He adjusted the tailored coat, running a hand through his dark hair, the slightest tinge of gray showing at the temples, adding further to his distinguished look and fitting the clipped English accent. He glanced at Markus. “Oh? Found a new friend already, have we?”
“Yes daddy. This is Markus Andrews. And this is his cute little son, Mikyle.” Amber smiled and rocked the boy. “We have the luggage but we wanted to go see the sites ..and..we all know you have friends waiting at the hotel.”
“Right, so we were going to go with Markus. He goes to NYU also daddy.” Brianna smiled. “Isn’t that Brilliant?”
“Absolutely smashing,” Alistair replied. “Someone who knows the city and the campus. You will be sure to show them all that they want to see, correct?”
“Certainly, sir,” Markus replied. He hadn’t planned on spending the day with them, but it was better than spending the day running errands and getting things that he needed at his place. “I’ll just have to get the car out of the parking garage first, and arrange all the luggage in it.”
“Perfect. They can load their luggage in the limo so it can be delivered to the hotel. We’ll meet you out front in say, ten minutes?”
“I’ll be there,” Markus said. He glanced at Amber. “Um, I’ll need him back, for a little bit.”
“You can try.” Amber smiled. “He has a pretty tight grip on me.”
“That’s a death lock if I ever saw one.” Brianna smirked. “She’s really great with kids. But you found that out.”
“I love them. Especially little cute ones like him.” She giggled. “He’s so tiny.” Amber smiled still.
“Yeah, I’ve sort of noticed that,” Markus said, piling the last bag on the cart. Among other things, he thought, surprised at the suddenness of him thinking that.
“Girls, I’m positive you will be holding him again soon and spending all day with him. Certainly you can part with him for a few minutes. Right?”
Uh,… right,” Markus said. All day? When he said show them the sites, he really meant show them the sites.
“Brilliant. Gather your luggage, the limo is waiting.” Alistair smiled, prompting them along.

Markus pulled around front, looking to the side, trying to figure out which limo was theirs. He checked the rearview, seeing Mikyle sleeping in his car seat. He smiled, looking again to the side. He blinked. A stretch Lincoln Navigator? That wasn’t the limo he was imagining, though he wasn’t surprised. He pulled up behind it, honking the horn to let them know he was there.
“Hello.” Amber ran over to the car. “Aww..still sleeping. Maybe we should go to your place so you can unload and he can get a little rest.”
“Sounds good.” Brianna jumped into the front passengers seat. “Wouldn’t want Mikyle to get cranky.”
“Right, so I’ll pop on into the back.” Amber got in and sat beside Mikyle. “My father said give you this.” She extended a wad of bills and a card. “I think he’s glad we’re out of the way while he goes and relieves his ‘stress’. Anyways, he said that is for gas, lunch..what ever we all do. There is like a thousand pounds there.”
“Is that all? Daddy got cheap.” Brianna chuckled.
“Well he did just grab out of his pocket. Besides, can always get the money exchanged at the bank or something.” Amber shrugged.
A thousand pounds? That was probably close to double that in American dollars, Markus thought. He glanced at the card, noting it had the hotel room number and other contact information, just in case. Though, he sort of got the idea that it needed to be an absolute emergency; to call. “I don’t think gas is quite that expensive yet,” he said, smiling. “The two of you must eat a lot. Or plan on shopping.” He had to admit, it probably would be a good idea going to his place first, even if it was only to unpack everything. “And let me be the first to apologize. New York cabbies aren’t the friendliest of people.” He started to pull out into traffic, a taxi speeding past and yelling something only serving to prove the point.
“Well, daddy did say get something for the little boy. I think daddy likes him.” Brianna grinned. “Who wouldn’t?”
“And maybe we go to um..what was that place? Breezy?” Amber hmm. “Like five hundred for the show, food and souvenir chalice? It has real gold trimming.”
“That’s the royal package at that castle restaurant. Think it’s called the kings Feast supper.” Brianna mmd. “It’s really good. And it is five hundred for two tickets. Seven fifty for three and Mikyle’s plate is free.”
“But… don’t you think that’s a little… violent… for him?” Markus asked. Ah, who was he kidding, Mikyle was fascinated with a killer whale. What was some sporting entertainment set in the middle ages? Besides, he seriously doubted that he would be able to refuse them anything, if they persisted enough. And daddy was paying for it. He merged further into traffic, heading towards his apartment. While sleep would have been good, that would be later. He had errands to run first, and he just happened to have gotten a few more errands to run.
“Then we can stop by that huge toy store that I saw in the guide book. Duncan’s toy chest. Like five stories of toys. That way we can buy Mikyle something like daddy said.” Amber grinned. “I think they even have a stuffed shamu toy there that’s like the size of full grown man in length and it’s really big.” She dug in her purse for the book. “Yeah, here it is. See?” She showed him the stuffed toy. “They even deliver.”
“We both agreed that’s what we want to get him and it’s only four hundred and fifty dollars.” Brianna added. “If we run out of daddy’s money, we have out allowances to get into still. Daddy gives us five thousand pounds a month.”
Markus nearly lost control of the car when she mentioned their allowance. Nearly ten thousand a month? “Um, what exactly does your dad do?” he asked. Besides banging stewardesses, obviously. Of course, with money like that, he could probably bang whoever he wanted. He pulled off the main road, heading down the street to his apartment complex.
“Moody construction and graphics experts. My father owns it. Said he named it after mum. She is Moody. And he invests.” Brianna gasped. “Is that your complex? That’s beautiful. It is right by central park too! We need to stay at your house. Our hotel has a boring view of the parkway.”
“Daddy also owns the royal spas. She never mentions that.” Amber smiled. “I can’t wait to see the inside of your apartment if it is that pretty on the outside.”
“Oh, the interior is just as nice, though, I have to admit, mine personally is a bit… drab.” Spend the night? What? Well, he did have the spare bedroom and all. But he also had a reputation in the building as being the quiet loner. There would be enough talk with him bringing Mikyle, at least until everyone knew the whole story. Amber and Brianna? That would be a whole series of stories by themselves. ” Afraid I haven’t really gotten it decorated or anything,” he said, pulling into the parking garage entrance and keying in his access code. “Though it isn’t completely bare. Flat screen and killer home theater system, and practically every movie ever made on DVD.”
“Oh...How about a movie fest then?” Amber suggested. “We go eat, get the toy and then come back and watch movies together.”
“Yeah..that will be great. Daddy is going to be busy all night anyways.” Brianna grinned. She got out when the car stopped and stretched. “Mmm..mmmm.”
“D..daddy?” Mikyle yawned. “Outs!” He struggled in the car seat. “I uh oh.”
“What’s that mean?” Amber blinked. “Oh..wait..” The smell hit he nose. “Never mind.” She hid her nose.
“Just a second,” Markus said, grabbing a couple bags and getting Mikyle out of the car seat. “Sorry, still working on that. Come on, let’s get you inside and get you changed. Then we can get everything else out of the car.” He led them to the elevator, blinking. “Um, my keys are in my pocket.” He glanced at Amber and Brianna, his hands full at the moment.
“Let me get them.” Brianna reached into his pockets and felt around. She grinned and rubbed her hand along the outline of his member before she grabbed the keys. “Found them.”
“Homes?” Mikyle asked.
“Ohh.” Brianna giggled and brushed her hand once more over his length’s area. “And..” She pulled the keys put slowly. “Here we are.”
“Naughty.” Amber chuckled.
“Yes, we’re home,” Markus said. He could feel his face blushing slightly. He hadn’t exactly expected that. Of course, he should have expected it. He stepped inside the elevator, after allowing them to get in first. “It’s the seventh floor.” He hoped the elevator ride wasn’t too long. Trapped in an elevator for too long with a dirty diaper, and it would seem like an eternity. Luckily, there were no stops, and they exited on his floor. Seven thirteen, at the end of the hall,” he said, leading them along.
“I grabbed his diaper bag.” Amber pulled the boy from him. “Why don’t you two go get some of the bags. I’ll go bathe and change him.”
“Hi.” Mikyle grinned.
“Hey cute man.” She chuckled and grabbed the apartment key too. “Spit spot.” Amber waved.
“Okay..” Brianna shrugged. “She was born a mom, I think. But I’m pretty good too. I baby sit sometimes.”
“Thanks,” Markus said, setting the bags he had inside the door. He hated dropping something like that on her, but she did sort of just take over that duty. He walked back down the hallway with Brianna. “You both seem good around children. Better than I seem to do sometimes. But I’m learning.”
“You will learn, yes.” Brianna smiled. “Lets go get the rest.” She turned, walking towards the elevator. Her hips swaying gently. “Come on then.” She spoke with a hint of ‘something’ to her voice. “So we can..rest before we go out. Knowing Amber, she probably already has Mikyle sound sleep and is asleep her self, by now.”
“Maybe.” Markus chuckled. “Hey..James.” He waved to one of the boys in the hall. “Can I get you boys to help me a minute?”
“Sure..” James smiles. “Who’s the hottie?”
“Her name is Brianna, not hottie.” Markus nodded to the two other boys. “My car is down in the parking garage. Think you guys can bringing all the luggage that’s in it for me? Twenty bucks a piece sound good?”
“Cool!”
All three boys took off to the elevators. Brianna smiled and shook her head. Her cheeks were red from the stand up respect he gave her.
“Guess we don’t have to bring all the bags up now.” Brianna turned and pulled him into a quick kiss. “Thank you.” She whispered.
“Uh..I..” Markus’s blush rushed past his cheeks to his neck. “For what?”
“For being the nice, honest and gentlemanly man that I knew you were.”
“That’s just how you treat a lady. I learned my lesson...and I have tried ever since to make sure that I respect people as they deserve.” Markus brushed a hand along her cheek. “And you deserve much respect.”
“Markus.” She blushed a darker shade of red. “Still...Thank you. Most people see twins and think..sluts but we aren’t really like that. We like being treated like ladies..and I don’t know about Amber, totally, but I know I am still on the market for a descent, upstanding gentleman as a boyfriend.”
“They are a rare find these days, but still a few of them… us… out there.” He blushed slightly, glancing down. He didn’t want to automatically assume that she was referring to him, even if she was talking more in reference to him. It wasn’t that easy for him, yet, as he was just getting to know them, and was dealing with the ghost of Jade. And at least for a little while, anyone he would get close to in such away would also be fighting against her ghost. And he had to admit, even though they both were quite attractive and rich, okay, loaded would be more appropriate, he saw beyond that. They were decent on the inside; nice, caring, and cultured. Plus, Mikyle liked them, so that was a good sign as well.
She leaned up, kissing him again. Her lips touched his softly, at first. Brianna’s hands touching his chest, she kissed a little deeper. He would have been surprised to learn a few facts about her. One being lack of interest in men up until this point and two being her..newness to the pleasure game. That was the twin thing though. People assumed twins were already experienced. Well, most people did.
Markus kissed her back, softly at first, surprised again by the unexpectedness of it, though kissing her deeper as she continued. He pulled back as he came more to his senses, though. It was too soon. He wasn’t certain of himself and his feelings yet. “Brianna… wait, please. It’s… I don’t want to rush anything.” He had made that mistake before, though it had been in running away, not into something.
“Oh, man, all you had to do was say she was with you, bro,” Brad said. “You leave for the weekend and come back with a girlfriend, that’s cool. Though what’s up with the Shamu stuff?” He held a couple bags up, glancing at Brianna. “They aren’t yours, are they?”
“No, those would be my sons,” Markus said.
They all looked at each other, then turned and glanced between Markus and Brianna. “You… her…”
“No, not us,” Markus said. “Someone else…” He paused, the memories flooding over him. He realized too late how that sounded as well, a slight blush, again, over coming him. “Long story, something I don’t want to talk about at the moment.”
“I should be going.” Brianna pulled away. “I’m gonna grab Amber and we will take a taxi back.” She smiled and walked towards the open door. “Amber..come on.”
“Coming.” Amber stepped out. “What’s wrong sis?”
“Nothing. Lets just..head for the hotel..we can have a driver take us around.” Brianna sighed.
“Wait, you don’t have to leave,” Markus said. He sighed inwardly. Gods, did he have to do everything wrong when it truly mattered? “I’m sorry, okay. It’s just…”
All three boys watched in awe as Amber emerged from his apartment, the ‘quiet one’ apparently being quite the player. Though they shook their heads, seeing that he wasn’t that in the least. And it didn’t take them long to see opportunity slapping them in the face. “Why take a cab? We can drive you there. I would be happy to.”
“Absolutely not,” Markus said. He knew what they were thinking, and didn’t like it in the least. Anyone could tell what they were thinking, it wasn’t that hard to see.
“See you later, Markus.” Brianna pulled Amber into the elevator. “Thanks for the offer boys.”
“Um..tell Mikyle I said bye when he wakes up.” Amber shrugged and ackd as she was pulled off into the elevator. “Ouch!”
The door closed and the down light came on.
“Ouch...” James looked at Markus. “You blew that one.”
Markus only nodded. He probably had, though she had said that she would see him later. So there was the slight possibility of redemption. Maybe. First he would have to get past his past, and then he would have to see about fixing things in the present. “Thanks, guys,” he said, holding out three twenties. Sixty bucks and the sight of getting rejected by the girls. It could have been worse, he thought, picking up the bags and heading inside the door. He set them on the floor, remembering he still had to call his boss and let him know he was home.
