Chapter 6

Okay, so here it is. Yay! It is a bit shorter than I thought it would be. X_X Sorry about that. I write everything in a notebook and then type it all up on the computer. If I just try and write everything on my computer I get distracted by the shiny internet.
But like I said, I'm going to try and work on updating more than every 3 or 4 years. I really want to work on my other story that I have up on here too. Maybe I'll alternate between the two. I have to see.

Anyway, enough of me babbling. I hope you enjoy this chapter and please don't forget to leave a review.
Thanks!

"Wake up sleepy head." Matt was standing over Yuki holding a cup of coffee
"Go 'way..." Yuki mumbled and rolled over in bed.
"Come on. It's time to start our date day. I have coffee for you."
Yuki sat up and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. His blond hair was disheveled. "Date?" Yuki didn't even think about going on dates with Matt. He assumed they were dating, but who really knew. He had never been in a real relationship before. Yuki wasn't even sure that he was acting like a proper boyfriend. Heck, up until a couple of days ago he didn't even consider dating another man.
Matt handed Yuki the cup of coffee. "Drink up and get ready. I figured we'd go shopping downtown. Maybe talk a walk and then have lunch. It's a beautiful day!"
"Do I get to wear whatever I want?" Yuki asked taking a sip of his coffee.
"Yeah, honestly, you don't have to wear what I bought you. Just be yourself, okay?" Yuki nodded. "Just wear some eyeliner. I like that. And try not to take too long..." Matt winked and walked out of the room.

Matt was getting tired of waiting. He has been sitting on the couch flipping through the channels on the television for forty-five minutes now. Matt was about to go after Yuki and drag him out of the bathroom even if it meant taking Yuki out in his underwear. Luckily, Yuki chose that moment to come running down the stairs.
"Sorry... I didn't know what to wear. I wanted to look nice. I tried on everything I own." Yuki had decided on a simple grey sweater and a pair of comfortable blue jeans. And of course he had on a bit of eyeliner to make Matt happy. "I wasn't sure where we are going for lunch. I didn't want to look out of place if you chose a fancy restaurant. I don't want to go to a fancy place looking like a hobo."
Matt laughed. "You look fine."
"I wasn't sure because I saw you in that black button down shirt thing and those shiny black shoes of yours. Hey, I can see myself in your shoes."
"Yuki, you're babbling." Matt kissed Yuki on the forehead. "You nervous?"
"A bit... I'm worried about what people will think if they see us holding hands and all that." Yuki blushed and looked at his beat up boots. They weren't shiny at all. They looked old and dingy compared to Matt's shoes.
"If you are worried we won't hold hands and make out in public. No one has to know we are on a date."
"I don't want you to be mad..."
"I'm not mad. I want you to be comfortable. This is our day of fun. You shouldn't be worrying about stuff like this. Now come on, let's get going."
Matt led Yuki outside. Twenty feet from the house was a two car garage. Sitting out front was a Ford Focus.
"What happened to the fancy car?" Yuki was slightly disappointed that he wasn't going to get to ride in the Jag again.
"I only drive that when I want to impress someone." Matt smiled and opened the passenger door for Yuki.
"Well, it worked." Yuki chuckled as he got into the car.
Matt quickly ran to the driver side and hopped in. He started the car and off they went.
"How come you live in the middle of nowhere?" Yuki asked. He noticed that there were no neighbors anywhere near Matt's house. It was all woods.
"I just like quiet. I lived in town for awhile, but it's just too noisy. Cars honking, sirens blaring, people yelling. It wasn't for me."
"Yeah, I get that. My neighbors were always fighting with their drug dealer. And of course they would only yell at like three a.m. Not fun..."
"Do you have a cell phone?" Matt asked out of the blue.
"Nah. I'm too broke to own one."
"Do you want one?"
"Kinda, but you know, I don't have a job to pay the bill."
"I'll put you on my plan. It's no big deal."
"I can't let you do that. You have already done enough for me." Yuki didn't want to impose too much on Matt. They still hardly knew each other and Yuki was a bit worried about what Matt would want in exchange for such an expensive gift.
"I don't mind. That way you can get in touch with me while I'm working. I'll only be a text away." Matt glanced over at Yuki and saw his small friend was frowning. "What's wrong?"
"I have no way to repay you. You've been so kind to me..." Yuki mumbled and looked out the window.
"You think I'm doing all of this just to get you naked in my bed?" Yuki blushed and Matt burst out laughing. "Do you think I would stoop that low? I wouldn't offer something to you if I wasn't one hundred percent willing to do it. And I don't expect to buy you with a shiny cell phone. I only want one thing from you. I just want you to get better. I want to see a happy and healthy Yuki. Can you do that for me?"
"I'll do my best." Yuki gave Matt a small smile.
"You are a smart kid. I know with a little help you'll be on your feet in no time." Matt reached over to Yuki's seat and took his hand.

"Yuki!" Matt yelled and grabbed the blond by his arm. "Can you put the phone away? You almost walked into another light post."
"Oh, sorry..." Yuki stuck his Iphone in his pocket. He got it twenty minutes ago and it hadn't left his hands since.
"Anywhere special you want to go?"
"Hot-"
"No!" Matt interrupted Yuki.
"Oh, hey..." Yuki stopped walking and stared at the store in front of him. "I have always wanted a pierced ear or lip." Yuki stared at the neon 'Tattoo and piercing' sign in the window.
"You don't need any holes in your head. Your brain will leak out."
"Psh... Will not. My parents wouldn't let me get my ear pierced. They said only gay guys and punks get their ears pierced."
"And apparently you are both." Matt laughed. "I'd go for the ear. If you do your lip we won't be able to make out for awhile."
"I hate you..." Yuki glared at Matt and walked into the store. "Maybe I can convince them to pierce your mouth shut."
"Ha ha..." Matt rolled his sparking blue eyes at Yuki.
Yuki walked over to the bald and tattooed man behind the counter and had a quiet conversation with him. He picked out a simple black stud and he disappeared into a back room with baldy. A few minutes later he came out of the room with a hole in his head. The two men walked out of the store and back onto the sidewalk.
"You know, that looks good on you. Some guys can't pull off earrings, but you can. I doubt I could." Matt grinned.
"I would be a bit worried if my doctor came in my hospital room with a ton of piercing. It would be weird."
"Oh, well we are on the subject. I have to buy some more scrubs." Matt lead Yuki down the street and into a store.
"Hey, Matt. You should get these!" Yuki held up a pair of pants that had bright rainbows printed all over them.
"I'm amazing enough to pull off that look. Don't think my boss would be too happy about them, though. I have to wear solid colors. You know, to make myself look like a professional doctor and not a clown."
"That's no fun..."
"My job really isn't supposed to be."
"True..." Yuki frowned.
Matt pulled a couple sets of green scrubs off the rack and headed over to the check out. There was a bit of a line so Yuki decided to wait on the bench outside the shop. He was only out there for a minute when he heard someone call his name.
"Yuki! I'm so glad I bumped into you. I've been worried sick about you ever since you ran out of bowling last week." Yuki looked up to see Amanda standing in front of him. At least she didn't have Bruce with her.
"Sorry about that... I uh... Wasn't feeling good."
"I tried to call you, but your phone was disconnected."
"I moved."
"You moved? Why didn't you tell me?" Amada asked sitting down next to Yuki.
"It was sudden. I wasn't really expecting to move."
"Your mom called looking for you. She told me to tell you to go home so you can get help." Amanda took Yuki's hand and stood up. She tried to pull Yuki off the bench, but he refused to budge.
"I'm not going back to her. I'm getting help."
"You need your family." Amanda frowned.
"I don't need them. I have been fine without them for a few years now. They kicked me out. I'm not going back to them." Yuki looked in the store window to see where Matt was. He was almost to the cash register. there was one person in front of him.
"Your mom said you ran away after high school..."
"I didn't run away. You don't understand the years of hell I had to go through."
"Stop over exaggerating. You grew up rich and happy. Are you going to say 'oh, my parents beat the shit out of me' again?" Amanda glared at Yuki.
"You think I'm over exaggerating?" Yuki stood up and lifted his sweater up. He showed Amanda the scars on his back. "You think I was able to do all that on my own?"
"Y-you mean they really did hit you?" Amanda's brown eyes filled with tears. "I always thought you made that up. Your parents seemed so nice... I'm s-sorry, Yuki." Amanda hugged Yuki tightly. Yuki cringed and tried to pull away, but Amanda refused to let go.
"I uh... Have a cell now. If you let go of me I'll give you the number. Just promise you won't give it to my parents. Okay?"
"Okay." Amanda smiled and let go of Yuki. He gave her his phone number and Amanda made sure Yuki had her number in his phone.
"By the way, I lost my job... Or well, mom made sure I got fired from my job. I'm staying with Matt until I get back on my feet."
"Are you dating him?" Amanda asked. "I mean, you did kiss each other."
"Oh... Uh..." Yuki blushed. "He likes to joke around."
"Yeah, that's me. Big joker." Matt said walking out of the store.
Yuki was a bit worried. Should he have told Amanda that he was probably in a relationship with Matt? He was still trying to figure out his feelings and he had never been in a relationship before. He also didn't want Matt mad at him if he said they weren't dating.
"Hey, aren't you the doctor from the hospital?" Amanda asked eying up Matt.
"You just realized that? Matt chuckled. "It was nice seeing you again. We better get going." Matt put an arm around Yuki's shoulders and led him away.
"Bye! I'll call you, Yuki!"
"Where were you when I needed you?" Yuki whispered.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were in trouble." Matt frowned.
"She tried to get me to go back to my parents. I showed her the scars on my back..."
"So, she knows what they did now?"
"Yeah, she hopefully won't talk to them anymore." Yuki glanced over at Matt. "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"For not telling Amanda about our relationship." Yuki replied chewing on his lip.
"I don't mind. You weren't ready to tell her." Matt removed his arm from Yuki's shoulder.
"I wasn't sure if I should have said you were my boyfriend."
"Are we boyfriends?" Matt wasn't sure if he wanted to know the answer. he had never really been in the position to call someone his girlfriend or boyfriend before. He was worried about how Yuki would respond.
"I dunno... I feel happy when I'm with you. Every time I look at you I feel like there are butterflies in my stomach. And if it wasn't for you I probably wouldn't be alive right now." Yuki smiled as he reached out to take Matt's hand.
"I'll take that as a yes." Matt grinned. "So, where to next?"
"Can we just walk around and hold hands for a bit?"
"Of course."
Matt and Yuki spend the rest of the afternoon walking around downtown. Some people gave them odd looks, but the two men ignored them.
