chapter six

“Good morning,” Thia said as she entered the kitchen to find Ann busy making cookies “I didn’t hear you come home last night” she leaned across the counter and inhaled deeply, “cooking breakfast? That means good mood.”

“Well good morning first, second you didn’t hear me come home late last night because I didn’t come home at all last night,” She turned around grinning and holding a plate filled with cookies “want some?” She put the plate on the counter “And the answer to your last question is a big YES I am in a good mood.”

“Wow, slow down a little will you. You didn’t come home last night?” Thia asked moving to fix herself some coffee but she couldn’t find any “we don’t have coffee?” she asked acting as if she was about to cry.

“I spent the night at Richard’s,” she said still grinning “and no we don’t have coffee, you don’t usually drink coffee.”

“I have a terrible headache,” she opened the fridge for some juice then stopped “did you just say you spent the night at Richard’s?”

“Yup”

“Hey you got back together that’s great. I knew you were going to get through anything, you two love each other so much.” she gave her friend a wonderful smile.

“Yeah I had to come home early today because Richard had work to do and I have to go to the hospital in an hour so I had to come home for some clothes,” her smile faded suddenly “you know Richard is great. He doesn’t ask about my past because I’m never happy talking about my family.” her face darkened a little.

“Listen Ann I know that you don’t like talking about them that’s why I never push you on that subject.” Thia said with an understanding smile.

“Thank you Thia”

“Oh talking about the past, Shane visited me yesterday,” She sighed then sat on a chair facing Ann “I told him about the accident and that I lost my memory, but then he sort of freaked out and left quickly” She took a sip of her orange juice “I’m starting to believe that he really knows me.”

“Yeah, I’m happy you talked to the guy and told him about the accident. After all he said you’re his wife…” The moment the words came out of her mouth Ann didn’t know what to say.

Thia winced at what Ann just said “How did you know about that?”

“Um, well ah- he…” Ann didn’t know what to tell her, she was afraid Thia would be mad at her if she finds out she was talking to Shane about her.

“Ann, you don’t usually stumble like that unless you’re guilty. What is it?”

“He came to the hospital yesterday. I accidentally heard someone asking one of the nurses about an accident that happened two years ago and when I turned to see who it was I saw him, and then he was sort of pleading. He wanted to know what happened from someone inside the hospital, so we sat down and I told him what I know,” Ann could see the expression Thia’s face was holding, she quickly continued “I’m sorry Thia it’s just that he looked so miserable and I really think he was telling the truth when he said he’s your husband.”

“I don’t know. I tried for the last two years to remember anything from my past,” she stopped Ann from what she was about to say “I know Ann, I know the doctors said that it’s only temporary and that I’m going to remember everything soon, but it has been two years and I don’t remember one God damned thing,” she paused for a second “Then he appeared claiming to be my husband. I don’t know what to do! I’m losing my mind trying so hard to remember.”

“Honey I’m sorry but I think if you talked to him more than once it might help you remember.”

“It did!”

“What? You mean you remembered him?” Ann got up quickly “you remembered something?”

“Well I…. we ah. He kissed me yesterday and when he did I had this feeling, I don’t know… it felt so familiar, I mean what I felt, felt so familiar and his scent! I remembered it. Some how I did when we kissed remember the way his arms felt on me and his lips on mine. But then I know that I’m a virgin and that he couldn’t be my husband, then how can I remember his scent and his slightest touch?”

“Well I asked him almost the same question and he said that…” Ann didn’t know whether it’s her right to tell Thia something that might Shane want to tell her himself. “Listen Thia, he is the one who should tell you everything,” she got up, put her plat in the sink, then turned to Thia before leaving the room “he is going to come by today and talk to you. That’s all I can tell you.” She smiled a little.

“But Ann what should I tell him? I mean when he is around I don’t seem to think or talk right.”

“Thia just talk to the guy! Okay I’m sure it will help,” she titled her head a little “he does look cute you know.” She said as she left the room.

Two hours later Thia was in the living room, sitting on the floor working. She’d called Dana earlier today and told her that she was not feeling well and she wouldn’t be coming in today.

“Is there something wrong? I mean you okay?” Dana asked in concern. She was a nice girl, only 19 and loves designing just like Thia.

“No Dana I’m really fine, just a headache and I’ll try to finish my work here at home. You don’t have to open until late, if there’s nothing to do lock-up and take the day off.”

“Ah I don’t think there’s much to do. I’ll finish some stuff then I’ll lock up and go home, I can use sometime with Mike.” Dana said and Thia knew she was grinning as she mentioned her boyfriend Mike.

“Okay, well say hi to Mike for me and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

After that she was starting to work on the design she was suppose to finish last night when the door bell rang.

She knew it must be him. He was the main reason she stayed home today, she wanted to know about herself and since he left quickly yesterday, she also wanted to see him.

I don’t know the guy and I already missed him, she thought as she got up and opened the door.

Thia almost gasped when she saw him, not because of the way he looked, which was gorgeous, but because of the beautiful daisies he was holding.
