Chapter 5 Dark Island
Blood Dripping Roses
Chapter 5
Dark Island
Ebony sank to her knees are she held the three pictures in her hands. The picture of Amy was an old one. Like always, she wasn’t smiling very much. Her long brown hair was tied back like always. The picture was taken from far away while she was walking somewhere. Amy had always been the quiet type among the three friends and was smarter than she knew. Ebony found that Amy was more open with them then with her parents who expected way too much from her.
The next picture was of Neely posed next to trees. She smiled like she had won the lottery as she held her middle finger up to whoever took the picture. She had shot blond hair that stopped right above her ears which showed off the large dangling earrings. Neely was known for she was popular to the class. She was very outspoken and didn’t have a problem telling someone how she felt about something. Plus she had been in many fights over the high school years and was warned that one more disciplinary referral and she was out the door. Even through Neely wore the name of a trouble maker, it was fun to hang around her for her free sprit and kindness to friends.
The last photo was of Cory and Ebony. As she starred down at it, she remembered every detail of the day. It was right after one of the high school football games and close to midnight. Cory was on the football team his senior year while Ebony, Neely, and Amy were all juniors that year. The team had lost the game, so to cheer Cory up, the three girls decided to have fun doing whatever they could think of on the empty field. It was well over 2am and all of the lights had been turned off. But they didn’t stop them from running out on the grass, yelling at the top of their lungs and laughing.
As Cory and Ebony laughed about something Neely was doing, Amy had captured a picture of them.
(I was so happy that night.) Ebony thought as she ran a finger over the picture of Cory as he was captured with his mouth open, eyes closed, and bending over while he laughed.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” She asked the two men as tears fell and she stared at the floor.
“I am not obliged to share that type of information with you.” Ezekiel answered softy.
Looking up, Ebony stared at Ezekiel with cold, angry eyes. “Fuck you! You could have told me! I have a right to know!”
“Do you know what has happened? Do you need for me to clarify?”
“I thought you said you didn’t have to tell me anything?” Ebony said looking back down at the pictures.
“I do not. In fact, I am not supposed to tell you anything. But since you have any idea, there is nothing wrong with clearing everything up for you.”
“Don’t bother. I know what happened.”
All the sadness that Ebony had held since Cory’s murder had turned into anger for the first time for now she knew who had done it. The picture of Neely, she crumpled in her hand fist.
(That bitch! I hate her!)
The truth had come to Ebony while listening to pieces of what Ezekiel had said. Given other past events, it wasn’t hard for her to know what had happened. Everything pointed to Neely. A time ago, Ebony remembered when Neely had come across a very large lump sum of money. It wasn’t hard to tell because she even took Amy and Ebony shopping more than once. Amy had questioned Neely on how she came across so much.
“My sister gave it to me.” Neely had said while they walked around the mall that day.
“Sister?” questioned Ebony. “I didn’t know you had a sister. You told us you were the only child.”
Neely had smiled and shrugged her shoulders. “Sometimes I forget. You know me.”
Now Ebony knew, she really didn’t know her at all.
(Cory must have found out that Neely had done this to me. The planned trip to Europe was so sudden, he paid so much for our tickets, that’s the only way to explain. Ezekiel said that the person who found out should have never gotten involved. Cory should have just stayed out of it!)
“It’s my fault.” Ebony murmured to herself. “If I hadn’t said anything at school…then Cory…”
Letting out a frustrated scream, Ebony flung the crushed picture of Neely away from her.
Tommie stepped up next to her, looking down at her while he talked to Ezekiel.
“E, she looks really pissed. Pissed enough to kill.”
Ezekiel nodded. “She has a right to be.”
~~~***o***~~~
Three hours had passed and now Ebony found herself back in the limo with Ezekiel on her right and Tommie in front of them. She hadn’t said much, but she was to curious to stay quiet now.
“Where are we heading?” she asked looking at Tommie.
Tommie smiled as she leaned back on the seat with his arms thrown over the back of it. “Time to go to Dark Island.”
“That’s an original name.”
“And she cracks jokes!” Tommie exclaimed looking at Ezekiel. “Too bad she’s not mine.”
“I suppose it is ok to tell you about your Master Vincent, Milady.” Ezekiel said. “Tommie, can you do the honors with the information about the island?”
“Dark Island…” he started. “You might wonder, how we get away with all of this crime? Well it’s simple; we put the ones we kidnap on any invisible island. An island that is unknown unless you’ve been there. Dark Island in the middle of an ocean 20 days away from anything or anyone else. The only way on and off the island is helicopters. This makes escape very difficult. Now, there are 8 Master castles on the island, each with their own little world going on, each with a different master. It just so happens that our Master Vincent the head of the entire island.”
Tommie looked over at Ezekiel. “That’s all right?”
Ezekiel nodded. “Yes. As far as the masters go, Master Vincent happens to be the meanest of them all. His temper is hardly ever kept in check and you need to remember that. Because you are the one who will always be at his side, you need to follow every order he gives you.”
“The one at his side?” Ebony questioned.
“Yeah.” Tommie whole mood changed as he looked in a distance. “ His last slave he kept at his side, he killed her because she moved into her room and wouldn’t leave. So he dragged her into a cell and her body is still there. That was 2 months ago. Without food I’m sure…it didn’t take 2 months. Master is a evil bastard.”
“Tommie!” Ezekiel hissed shooting him an angry look.
“Well it’s true! Master acts like he has to have a woman by his side for all his needs when he can take his fill on one of those slave servants. He gets these girls by his side and then just kills them. Ebony here is the 5th one this year! I say, we kill her now.”
Ezekiel leaned closed to Tommie, ready to leap at a seconds warning. “Why?”
“I would rather kill her then let Master do it.”
“What he does with the girls is none of our concern. You know that. Do not get attached to her. She is not yours.”
Murmuring to himself, Tommie crossed his arms and leaned back into his seat.
Sighing, Ebony leaned back as well, thinking alone the rest of the way.
(This Vincent can’t be as mean as they make him out to be…can he?)
