Birthday Party!
The birthday barbeque was set up and everything was ready, Lucilla stayed home from work and Raquella came home early to get the big day for their daughter.
At exactly six o’clock, the doorbell rang and Lucilla opened the door up for the next door neighbors, the Creshious-Darkless, the happy gay men that lived with their two sons, three daughters and several pets in the brick house next door. Raquella greeted both men, Karl and James and Kessie said hello to their sons, Jason, two, and Greg, who was almost eight. Then Kessie said hello to her best friends in the whole wide world, Samantha, who was four, Ellen, who was five and Susan, who was six.
Next people to show up was another large family, Sarah and June Share-Coon, with their several children. Sarah was married to a man before marrying June. Sarah’s children from her first marriage were Sandy, sixteen, Jordan, fourteen, Mary, ten and Richard, eight. Then, together, both women had another four children, Chandelle, seven, an adopted African American girl, twin boys Rocco and Randy, two, and another little Asian girl they adopted, who was almost four, Star. Kessie was so happy to see Star that she almost fell over. Lucilla laughed to see that Kessie, Star and Samantha went over to play in the sandbox.
Lucilla opened the door for the other gay couple Trevor and Matt Smith-Jones, with their crew of Ethan, ten, Michael, nine, Dakota, seven, Seth, the newborn, Zara, eleven and Jackie, five, two girls and four boys all together. The women greeted them and let the children go play with Kessie out in the backyard.
Raquella heard the doorbell ring and excused herself from the group that she was talking to and went over to open the door. It was the Molle-Carre family down the street, the lesbian women who had triplets, two girls and a boy, Xandra, Lauren and Christopher, all five and a half. Kessie ran over to say hello to her other friends and they all went over to play. Lucilla and Raquella hugged both Megan and Indigo, the mothers.
The last family to arrive was the Ford-Dock family, the lesbians that came over to introduce themselves when Raquella and Lucilla first moved in. Dana and June had four children themselves, then they adopted another three. Alisa was their oldest born, at nine, then came Oliver, at age five, then was Phoebe, at age four, then was their youngest, a nine week old angel they called... Angel. There adopted children were Jong-tou, an Asian boy of about four, then they had adopted Shalynn, who was seven, and their last child to be adopted, a Brazilian boy with a paralyzed lower body, Jaycee. Jaycee had just turned ten, and he got a new power wheelchair for his birthday. He enjoyed giving the children in the yard rides around on it.
Raquella talked and started the grill as Lucilla opened the door to greet Mark, Greg and Charlie.
“Raq!”
Raquella was inside getting more juice for the children and to get the burgers. “Oh, hello Charlie and hello Mark and Greg.” She motioned for them to follow, “Lucilla, could you grab the juice for the kids?”
Lucilla nodded, and ignored the look that Mark had given her and grabbed the gallon of apple juice.
Outside, Raq called for the children, “Who wants a hamburger?”
She counted the children’s hands.
“Who wants a hot-dog?” Lucilla said.
“Dakota wants both...” Megan said, and Trevor just laughed and responded, “If he thinks that he can eat both...let him.”
Mark looked around, “Hey Greg... does it feel... wrong... at this party.”
Greg only half listened as he talked to Karl.
“Seriously dude... something is so wrong here, but I can’t tell you what it is.”
Karl asked him, with the underlying gay meanings, “Who is your friend here?”
“This is Mark. We are living together...” Greg said, and Raquella caught on to what Karl was asking, but she didn’t say anything to Mark.
“Really? Are you guys looking for a nice place to live? You could move in around here...” Karl said. “There is a nice place down the road if you two are interested.”
Raquella walked past with hamburgers and hot dogs for the children. She whispered to Karl, “I don’t think they are gay... don’t let them know that we all are...”
“Why?” Karl said loudly, “Is he HOMOPHOBIC?”
Everyone stopped talking and looked over at Greg, the place was eerily quiet.
“I knew there was something wrong with this party.” Mark said as he bit into a hamburger and grabbed another beer.
((yeah, it\'s short... but it doesn\'t fit... Enjoy!))
