There was a rustle of leaves as a winged man’s feet touched the ground. “I released it.”

“Good. We should be able to finish this by the end of the week.” There was a rustle of papers and then a hand waved the man away. “Traitors need to be caught.”
^^^

Akira looked around him as Zev sat down. “Okay since we can’t get anything big out here their going to try something new.”

“Like?”

“Well their going to count how many heart beats they hear.”

He turned to Zev. “Are you telling me that a werewolf’s hearing is good enough to count how many hearts are beating in a person?” He looked at Akira with a serious face and then nodded. “God save us all.”

Zev chuckled and pulled Akira close to him. “I can’t wait to find out.”

“Zev?”

“Yeah.”

The brunette pointed down the hall, “Is that your dad?”

Looking the way Akira pointed he blinked. “Yeah it is. Who is he talking to?”

They leaned closer and then Akira gave a sigh, “It’s my father.”

“What do you think their talking about?”

“Why don’t you go find out?” Akira fidgeted as he reached behind him only to stop. “Damn it.”

“What’s wrong?”

“I keep reaching for my cigs but I don’t have any.”

“How long have you been doing it for?”

“For the past mouth.” He turned to Zev, his mouth opened and Zev covered it. Gray eyes narrowed at him.

“No.”

“I didn’t even ask.”

“No.” His eyes moved from him and he turned to see who he was looking at. Daisuke walked up with Caden following. “Hey! I take it Marianela told you two.”

Caden chuckled, “Yes she practically yelled at us to go.”

Zev grabbed Akira’s fidgeting hands, “Why didn’t she come?”

Shrugging, Caden answered, “She wouldn’t say.”

They all looked at Daisuke, he was yawning and when he looked at them he blinked. “What?” Akira shook his head and Zev chuckled. “What happened?” He looked confused and was soon frowning, “What is it?”

Akira was about to say something when he heard his name. His back went stiff as Zev pulled him to his feet. “Come on lets go say hi!”

The two watched as Akira dug his heels into the ground. “I’m not going!” Daisuke and Caden sweated when Zev picked Akira up and carried him into the room.

“Should we follow?”

“Yep. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

Akira watched as the young blond woman walked into the room. “Hello.” She looked at Akira, “So you must be Akira. You’re looking like you’re carrying more than one in there.” She pulled open a small locker and took out a stethoscope not even noticing the frown on Akira’s face. “How far along are you?”

Zev answered, “Four months.”

“Hmmm, yep you definitely have more than one in there.” Walking over she smiled at him. “Okay let’s check your vitals and then we can get onto finding out how many is in there.”

“Fun.” A few minutes later he was on his back with a cold stethoscope on his lower abdomen. The woman had her eyes closed as she listened. A smile appeared on her face as she pulled away.

“I found one and maybe a second.”

Akira thumped Zev with his foot and when the wolf looked at him. Even though his face was calm his eyes held a dark glint in them. He was going to have to go through something later. He sat up and pulled the shirt down, “Is that all?”

“From what I could hear.”

“Okay.”

“Do you two have any question you want to ask?”

“I do.” They all looked at Daisuke, “How are they getting out?”

“Well we’ll have to perform a c-section.”

“Great more scares.” Zev chuckled at the low mutter that came from Akira.

He leaned over and kissed behind Akira’s ear as he muttered, “But no one will see it.”

“You will.”

“Exactly.”

He caught the way he tried not to grin and Akira shoved his hand against his face. “Shut up dog.” It didn’t help he felt a pang of excitement spike up his spine.

Zev muttered a swear behind that hand. There was a cough and they looked over to see the woman standing there. “Is there anything else?”

Akira muttered something as Zev yanked on a lock of his hair. They looked at each other. “No there’s nothing.”

“Okay, I want you to keep a good eye on your health make sure you eat…”

“I’ll eat I know everything.” He slid off the bed and tugged at the shirt again. “I just want to get home.” The brunette was already out the door when Zev followed he came to stop and grinned.

“Sorry about that…”

Caden couldn’t help but chuckle, “Zev tail.”

He glanced over his shoulder and gave a colorful curse. “Traitorous attachment.” A black tail was waging, his hand snagged it just as Akira looked back in.

“We going?” Gray eyes saw his tail and that quirky smirk appeared. “I’ll be outside.”

Zev looked at his father as he walked out of the room, “Where are you going?”

“Going to pass the message along.”

“What if she comes here?”

“She won’t. She’s got Liv and Chaim to take care of.”

He sighed, “That’s good. I’m just worried.”

He felt the hand on his shoulder, “Trust me this is only the tip of the iceberg. You have years before you that’ll make you worry more.” Caden watched as Zev’s shoulders sagged, “But it gets better. Trust me. I have four plus the two new ones. And I think you’ve done well. You’ll be fine. Now I’m going to go send that letter to Dawn.” Right before he left he managed to ruffle Zev’s hair. The wolf swatted his hand away and growled at him.

“Will you quit that?”

“Not till you’ve out grown me.”

He gave a huff as his father walked out of the room. His head shook and his hair fell back into place. Looking over he found Daisuke still sitting there. It was quiet as the time passed, “You should come by for dinner.”

“You asking?”

The wolf shrugged as Daisuke stood. “It wouldn’t hurt.”

“I never said that it would.”

He nodded to the doctor as he walked past Zev. “Sure.” Zev sighed as the older brunette walked out of the room.

The doctor turned to him and gave a smile, “If you have any questions at all…”

“I know. You got a hold of Karen.”

“Yes she told me, I didn’t think he would be sooo…” she grew quiet and blushed, “Ah sorry I didn’t mean to…”

He brushed it off with a wave of his hand, “He’s not fond of doctors. I’ll call if I have any questions.”

“Take care of yourself.”

Zev nodded as he walked out of the room. He stepped outside the building to find Akira sitting on a bench. Then he saw Star and the two kids running around the bench.

“Mace give that back!”

“No!” Mace ran into Zev and he steadied the boy before he fell over. Blinking he looked up to see Zev, “Z-zev!” He saw Justin’s glasses on his face.

“What’s up Mace?”

“N-n-nothing…”

Justin tackled Mace and snagged the glasses. As he stood he put them back on. “Stop taking my glasses.”

“T-tell me what happened the other d-day!”

“No.” He walked over to Star and Mace followed after whining about how he never told him anything. Zev came to a stop behind Akira. The brunette tipped his head back and smirked.

“Hello.”

“Feeling better?”

“Very.” He bent over, placing his hands on the back of the bench and nuzzled against the back of Akira’s neck. He gave a soft whisper and Akira smirked as he asked “Is that a promise?”

“Wait till we get back to the house.”

“I like the sound of that.”

There was a cough and they looked over, “Hey Star.”

“Don’t you hey me runt.”

Akira blinked when he felt Zev twitch. Wait did he just twitch? “Why Star why must you rub salt in the wounds?”

“Because I wasn’t the small one.”

He felt Akira sit up, “Small?”

“Zev was what… about your height before he got his last growth spurt.”

“Really you don’t say.” Zev gave a whimper when he saw the smirk on Akira’s face. “Don’t worry about it Zev I won’t start picking on your size.” He heard Star start snickering quietly and it soon turned into muffled laughter, he glanced back at Zev. When Zev gets embarrassed you knew it. Reaching up he patted Zev’s head. The wolf was currently hiding his face behind Akira and his own arms.

“Akira…” The muffled whine had him chuckling.

Star stood up as she wiped her eye, “Oh god that was a good laugh I have to hang around you two more often. I have to get those two something to eat before they start causing trouble.”

Akira waved as she quickly rounded up the two boys and they headed off to a makeshift food stall that was a ways off. Zev peaked out from behind his arms to see Akira staring at the park. “Keep staring and you’ll freak the mommies out.”

He caught the way Akira’s eye twitched and then that eye was looking at him. “So were you shorter then Keir or were you both the same size?” Blue eyes narrowed at him. The brunette smirked as he stood up and swayed a little. “Damn got to stop that.”

He stood and looked at Akira, “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, got up too fast.”

“You sure?”

“Yes, yes I’m fine.” He caught the worried look and sighed. “I’m about as fine as I can get.” Placing his knees on the bench he slid his arms around Zev’s neck. “But there’s a problem.”

“What is it?”

“I’ve been jumpy as hell without my cigs. Start owning up!”

“Just tell me when and where.”

“Not here that’s for sure.”

“Home it is.” Akira yelped as Zev picked him up.

“Zev!”

“This wolf wants to play.”

“Put me down I can walk!”

“Nope.” He sighed as he folded his arms. He had learned that it is just better to not complain but it doesn’t mean he can’t do it. Gray eyes looked at Zev and tried to not be bothered by the other eyes watching.

~~~~
The crowd was large as they bunched around the stage. He found himself standing in the crowd. Two teens were tied to a post in the middle of a rundown city. Their backs faced the crowds as three people walked onto the stage. The two teens stared at each other. A look of knowing passed. The younger of the two moved his mouth. The words were silent but reached the other teen’s ears. As one man moved forward towards the younger that back stiffened. Soon he was weaving his way through the crowd looking for something… no someone. Where were they? There was a crack and he looked at the stage. A whip was in the person’s hands.
That whip rose into the air.
He was now shoving his way through. Run. Run. RUN! He found himself being yanked back as the whip fell. NO! Don’t you touch him!!
~~~~

Akira sat up. He scrambled out of the bed and out of room down the hall. Zev sat up as a door slammed shut. He looked over to find Akira gone. “What the hell?”

The bathroom door opened and Akira sat hunched over the toilet. “I thought I was past this stage.”

“What happened?”

Zev leaned against the door frame as Akira stood up. He went through the steps of cleaning his mouth out. After he wiped his face off he turned to Zev and let his head fall against his chest. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing just a dream.” His fingers tightened in his shirt. “I don’t even know who it was and yet I felt like I knew the person.”

A hand rubbed at his shoulders and then his back. He lightly trailed his fingers over the wing tattoos. “Want to go back to bed?”

The brunette shook his head.

“Okay lets go down stairs.”

Akira made a sound and tugged at the strings on Zev’s sweats. He buried his face against Zev’s neck and inhaled, “I need a shirt.”

Zev rubbed Akira’s shoulders and chuckled, “Okay you’ll need to let go so we can go get one.”

“Not right now.” A few second passed and Akira nuzzled against his neck. “I like the way you smell.” There was a sound from the wolf that had Akira smirking. “What is it?”

“You keep doing that and we’ll never leave the bathroom. Also not to mention this is the only guest bath in the whole place.”

He pulled away and looked at Zev. “Okay I get it.” He walked past but Zev yanked him back against him. “What?” Zev hugged him as he smiled, “Zev I swear you even attempt…”

The wolf licked the side of his face and Akira bristled. “Damn wolf!”

“I love you!” Were the words that followed as he quickly stepped back from Akira.

“You’re not getting away with it this time!” He walked down the hall. Walking after him he chuckled as he pushed the door open. He watched as Akira pulled a large shirt on. When gray eyes met his he smiled and leaned up against the door frame.

“So what are you going to do to me?”

“I’m not gone to do anything but watch TV. No way in hell am I going back to sleep after that. Get some sleep Zev I’ll be fine.”

“You sure.”

“Yeah.” ‘I think.’ He walked out of the room and down the stairs, only to come to a stop at the bottom of the steps. The kitchen light was on and he could hear soft humming.

Walking over to the kitchen he looked in to find Marianela with a sewing machine and some fabrics. She was singing a soft song to herself when he spoke up. “Maria?”

Turning around she looked at him from behind a pair of glasses. “Yuki! You should be sleeping!”

Walking over to the chairs he sat in one. “I was.” She looked at him and smiled.

“I guess I could use the company.”

Akira smiled as he leaned back, “Now what’s all this hush hush about you and Ransom?” He wasn’t looking at her but he could tell by the sound of her voice she was caught off guard.

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Yeah and I went from newborn to grown adult in one day.” His arm rested on the table as he snagged a toothpick out of a small cup. She didn’t say anything as she quickly started to work on the stitching. So he reached over and poked her in the head with the tooth pick. “Spill your guts. I can just get Ransom to tell me…”

“I’m a grown woman I don’t need you to hold my hand.” That grin appeared and she cursed silently. “How long have you known?”

“Not long.” He was chewing on the tooth pick absentmindedly. “The way you two look at each other gave it away.”

“Damn.” Reaching forward she turned the machine on to start sewing everything together.

“I could care less what you two did. Just as long as he doesn’t make you cry or force you into anything. Friend or not you’re still my sister.”

“And you know damn well he would never do that. He’s already walking on eggshells cause he thinks you might throttle him for touching me the wrong way.”

“I never knew there was a wrong way to touch.”

Marianela gave him a bored look, “You know what I mean.”

They fell into a comfortable silence and Akira sat there staring at the wall. A soft curse came from Marianela. Glancing at her he asked, “What are you doing?”

“Fixing your waist problem.”

“I’m fine with what I have.”

“Sure you are… with the way your growing I’d say there is two in there… maybe more… anyways you’ll be getting bigger in the next few months and you need pants that fit. That and I have an idea for our furry friends.”

“Like?”

“You’ll see.” A few minutes later she stood, “Come on stand up.” She pulled the glasses up and sat them on her head.

“What for?”

“Stand. Stand.”

“Alright.” Standing up she handed him a pair of pants. “What…?”

“Put ‘em on.”

“Why?”

“Yuki. Strip.”

He raised an eyebrow, “What?”

“Do it.”

“What if I’m not wearing anything under my pants?”

She gave him one of her I’m not stupid looks and he sighed. He managed to pull his sweatpants off and then pulled on the other pair. Marianela watched as he tried to button the pants, “hmmm… still needs work. Okay you can get back into your sweats.”

Once he was back in his sweats and sitting he watched as she pulled those glasses back down and went back to work. “I’m still not sure about this.”

“You’ll make a fine father.”

Akira looked at her, “I wasn’t talking about that…… thanks.”

“You’re welcome. If it helps you raised me and I’ve turned out alright.” His gray eyes looked away. Placing his elbow on the table he rested his chin on the palm of his hand. She smiled and leaned over giving him a kiss on the cheek. He blinked and the smirked.

That smirk turned into a grin, he couldn’t help but say it. “Ew girl cooties!”

Marianela smacked him in the back of his head, “I don’t count.”

“Really? I didn’t know that!”

“Sarcastic bastard.”

“Love you too sweetheart.” The brunette made a face, “I can’t believe I said that, I’m going to wash my mouth out now.” She started laughing as he stood and made his way to the sink. Turning around he leaned against the counter a cup in his hand.

The blond looked at him after she got her laughing under control, “So will you two be going to the festival tomorrow?”

He took a drink and stared at the water for a few seconds. “I don’t know. You know how I am with large crowds of paranormals.”

“It can’t be that bad now. You’ve been working on making mental shields like Mitch told you.”

“Yeah it was the only thing I could do when I was bored to tears.”

“So you haven’t been doing it every day.”

The sound he made had her placing the pants down, “I’m doing fine when it comes to random thoughts flying my way. It’s the touch that’s really getting to me.”

“What about Zev?”

He shrugged, “Got used to it, I guess.” She looked at him as he rubbed his head. His face had gone pale. “Damn.”

“Yuki?”

Akira waved his hand, “I’m fine. Headache.”

“Sit down. I know your headaches.” She stood as he dropped into the chair. The glass he was holding was in her hand and she was filling it with water. “If they get any worse you say something. I don’t want a repeat of when you were nine. Scared the shit out of all of us.”

“Sorry about that.” His head was resting on the table. The cool surface felt good on his forehead. The glass was placed on the table next to his head and she pulled his head back. “What is it?” A cold cloth covered his forehead and eyes. “I wouldn’t trade you for any other sister.”

Her hand thumped him on the head and he gave a smile. “You better not even think about it.”

“Yes mama.”

“Ass.”

There was a sound and he went to take a look when Marianela thumped him on the head. “Keep that towel on your head. Zev what are you doing up?”

“You know that feeling you get on the back of your neck?”

“Yeah.”

“It woke me out of a deep sleep.” He saw Akira and pointed at him.

“Headache. So what are you doing down here?”

“Checking everything out it feels like someone was watching me. Akira?”

“I’m fine it’s just my head.” He felt a hand on his shoulder. Pulling the cloth off he looked at Marianela. Glancing at Zev he quickly drank the water and stood. “I’m going back to bed. You should get some sleep.”

“I will.”

“Tonight. I can see the circles. If you don’t I’ll tell Ransom what your making for him.”

She growled, “Do it and I’ll force you to eat the veggies!”

“Then go to bed.”

“I will!”

Walking past Zev he grabbed his hand and pulled him along. “Come on I want to be laying down before my head starts to hurt again.”

“I’ve never seen you with one.”

“I get small ones and then I get large ones.” They were in the room when his head felt like it was being split open. He laid on the bed and covered his head with the pillow. “Ugh… damn.”

“Are you sure your okay?”

He hissed in pain, “Yesss… stop talking.” The bed sunk and he winced when Zev’s hand brushed over his arm. “Zev…”

“Yeah.”

“Please don’t touch. The headache is from the mental noise.”

“I’ll sleep on the floor then.”

“No don’t.”

He looked at the blanket. Covering Akira he laid down next to him. “How’s that?”

“Sorry.”

“I’m fine. Get some sleep.”

Akira rolled over and looked at Zev from under the pillow. “I…”

“Yeah?”

“Nothing… I want a kiss.”

“I thought I couldn’t touch you.”

“Kiss!”

Zev smiled as he leaned forward to kiss Akira. “Happy?”

“Very.” He chuckled as Akira snuggled as close as he could get with a blanket between them. The brunette watched as Zev fell back to sleep and he gave a sigh. “Damn headaches.”

Akira gave a growl as Rune shouted at him to get up. He tossed the pillow at the loud over grown child. “Fuck off!”

“Zev he’s not getting up! I want to leave!”

He could hear Keir talking to Rune and then Zev. “We’ll leave first Zev before he starts walking the walls.”

“Okay.”

“You should show him what Marianela made.”

“I guess.”

“We’ll see you there! Bye Akira!”

They heard the growl and saw Akira’s grey eyes looking at them. “No more sugar Rune!” He gave a growl when Rune stuck his tongue out at him.

Zev chuckled, “I think you should leave now. We’ll be there soon.”

Once it grew quiet in the house Zev walked over. “I’m not going!”

“We’re not I’m taking you to Levana.”

“I’m not leaving.” He growled when Zev picked him up still bundled up in the blanket. “Put me down!!”

“Nope.” As they walked out of the house a few were people stopped to look at them. Zev just kept walking as they watched them. Akira tried to get out of the blanket only to give a loud curse when he found he was rolled up tight.

Zev went to kick the door open only to stop when the door swung open. Daisuke stared at the two. “I don’t want to know.” He walked past them and back behind the tree. Levana glanced at them from where she was trying to tie her hair up.

“Zev, Akira, how is everything?”

“Akira’s got a headache.”

“What kind?”

He sat Akira on the bed and turned to Levana, “I can’t touch him without his head hurting even more.”

Akira glared at the two, “I can talk damn it!” Levana shoved an apple into his mouth. If looks could kill she would have ended up six feet under.

“Eat and stop glaring. I’ll get something, the only side effect would be you’ll lose all of you psychic ability for the rest of the day.”

He muttered around the apple as he chewed on it.

“What was that?”

“I’ve never gone without it for that long.”

“Well we’ll see how it effects you.” She walked over with something in her hand.

“What is that?”

“Nothing. Tip your head forward.” He gave her a wary look. Her hand pushed his head forward till his chin was resting on his chest.

“What are you doing?” He jumped as something sharp dug into his skin at the base of his neck. His neck went numb and she pulled away. Akira looked at her, “Ow.”

“Oh hush.” Levana walked away and motioned to Zev, “Go ahead touch him.”

“O-okay.” He walked over and touched his arm.

“I don’t… hear anything.” Akira’s hand touched the back of his neck. “It’s quiet.”

“Your mental senses were just deafened. You’ll get it back sometime tonight.”

“Something tells me your enjoying this.”

“I could, but then that would just be mean.” She had a smile on her face as she said it.

He gave her a frown and then stood up. Zev snagged the blanket as Akira moved further away from Levana, “I want to leave before she tries to use me as a pin cushion.”

“I should do it right now.”

Akira gave a growl and ducked behind Zev, “Stay away from me!”

The wolf sighed, “Why me?” He gave a yelp as Akira jabbed him in the back. “What?”

“You two should go now. Go to the gathering I’ll see you all later tonight.” They looked at Levana and then Akira was already out the door.

“A-Akira!”

Mace ran through the crowd of weres with Justin right behind him. “Come on Justin!”

“Damn Mace…” He came to a stop as Mace disappeared further into the crowd. When did Mace become faster than him? The ten year old took a breath and let it out in a huff. He looked around and finally spotted the boy. Jogging along he saw the boy talking to, who else, Zev and Akira. Sneaking up on him he clamped his hands down of Mace’s shoulders.

Said boy jumped out of his skin as he yelped. Justin had a satisfied grin on his face. The small wolf was trying to calm his heart or at least keep it in his chest. “J-Justin!”

“What? You’re the one who left me in the dust.”

Akira glanced at Zev as the wolf started to chuckle. “You two…”

“S-stupid Justin!”

Justin’s eye twitched and he pulled Mace into a headlock. “Who are ya calling stupid ya little punk? If wasn’t for my smarts those older guys would still be picking on you.”

“What older guys?”

They both froze and looked beyond Zev and Akira to find Star. Altan was chuckling as the two boys slowly inched back. “Run Mace!!” Star was over the table and chasing after the two boys.

“It’s never a dull day with those two around.”

Zev tipped his head back, “When did you get here?”

“Just now. I’ve been running messages back and forth for the Young pack and the Falla pack.”

Akira took a drink of his water as he watched Zev turn around completely, “Really, what’s going on?”

“It’s not set in stone but since the Falla pack is a small one they’re going to try and merge the pack.” He chuckled, “I remember when everyone would get into scrapes just over the idea.”

He watched as Zev and Altan trailed off on something that had happened before he was born. That much he could tell. His fingers played with the paper around the bottle of water. As he did this he could see his stomach. Yeah, he had finally gotten used to it. A small smile crossed his face. ‘It wouldn’t hurt to have a kid or two running around… would it?’

His brows furrowed as he felt a sharp pain in his head. Reaching up to rub his head he froze. His breathing quickened as it got stronger. Every muscle in his body had gone tense. He didn’t like this feeling… not here where no one could fine them. The feeling grew even stronger and he quickly stood up.

Zev glanced at him, “Akira?”

Bad move. His body swayed.

“Akira!?” The brunette found himself looking up at Zev. His voice was growing muffled as he heard the blood rushing through his head. He watched Zev’s mouth move. Then he blinked. It was quiet.

“What?” Then he could hear again.

“I said are you okay?!”

“Yeah…” He slowly regained his balance, “I think…”

He caught the frown, “You think?”

Akira shrugged and Zev sighed. “At least he’s okay.” They looked over to see Altan looking at them. “You should pace yourself. Getting up that fast isn’t good for you.”

“I know.”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing… just a feeling it’s gone now.” Zev placed his hand against Akira’s forehead, “What is it?”

“You’re warmer than normal.”

“No really I wonder why?”

“You don’t have to be so mean!”

“I’m fine! Just because I’m warmer than normal doesn’t mean I’m sick. Just means…” He trailed off and looked at Altan. He blinked.

“Oh… I’ll go find Star.” He quickly walked off as Akira sighed.

“Remember what I told you about my DNA being tampered with?”

“Yeah.”

Akira sat down and rested his chin on the palm of his hand. “It just means my body is working twice as hard to keep myself from getting sick. If I was still the same way I’d be bed ridden by now.”

“Huh?”

“Ask Maria she’ll tell you all about the colds and how sick I got before I was taken.”

“So it’s just working twice as hard?”

“Yes.”

“Then you should be resting more.”

“Ye… no, damn it Zev! I’m fine!”

Zev looked at him and Akira had a feeling of turning around just then. “Fine.” He found himself giving a sigh. “We’re leaving early.”

Akira found himself rolling his eyes, “Fine whatever makes you happy.” He sat down and grabbed his bottle of water. “If I was really sick you would know it.” Once Zev was sitting down next to him he let his head fall against Zev’s shoulder.

The warmth of the sun shone through the trees and bathed the clearing in shady light. There was a sigh from Akira and then his whole body relaxed against Zev’s. It was quiet and he was going to take advantage of it.

Mace was laughing as he ran behind a tree. The sun was slowly sinking behind the mountains. As it was sinking torches were being lit and Mace was hiding from Justin. They were too far from the clearing to be playing Hide and Go Seek in the dark. Justin sighed as he sniffed the air. Damn brat was too good at hiding.

Dark blue eyes watched as Justin walked past. “Mace! Come on we need to get back!” He dashed to another tree as Justin turned to look at the spot he was just at. He covered his mouth to stifle the laughter. As Justin grew closer he would take off running and soon the light of the torches couldn’t be seen.

“Mace!”

The small brunette was running as he looked over his shoulder. He didn’t even see the black mass that appeared in his way till he plowed right into it. Falling back he let out a whine as he clutched his head. That had hurt. Did he hit a tree? Looking up his tan face actually went pale.

“What do we have here?” He quickly scrambled to his feet to run when he was yanked off the ground. “It’s a little wolf pup.”

There was a glint of silver and he screamed, “Justin!!!”

The man winced, “Damn he’s got some lungs!”

“Haha, you were never liked by kids.”

Mace gave a squeak as another dropped next to the man. A woman from the sound of it, he couldn’t see her since it was on his blind side. There was a hiss of metal and he squirmed, “He knows we’re here.”

“Then you should take care of it. I doubt anyone would miss such a cowardly wolf.”

“You’re sure an ice queen.”

He shook his head as the guy looked at him. That shiny blade appeared and he let out a crying howl. The woman hissed, “Shut him up before another wolf hears him!”

Just then a small dark orange wolf came flying out of nowhere. Its jaws latched onto the man’s arm holding Mace. When Mace dropped to the ground the wolf fell next to him growling. As the woman drew her weapon another much larger wolf slammed into the woman. She slashed out with a dagger. The wolf snarled as it sliced across its muzzle. Another wolf snagged Mace and the small wolf pup off the ground and took off to the clearing.

A howl came from the wolf carrying them as they crashed into the clearing.

I’ve been slowly working on Desert World and Acid Rain. I’ll have the first chapter up for both stories after this next chapter. Since this one is going to take a little longer… I’ve got the ending to this story playing over and over in my head I hope it’s a good enough ending for everyone. We’ve got less than eight or seven chapters left. Reviews of all kinds are welcomed.
