A/N: I’ve got it done. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Akira unwrapped the bandage on his wing and looked at the almost fully healed wound. He was glad to get out. The thought of being cooped up any longer drove him insane. The wings disappeared as he picked up his pants. He started to pull his pants on only to stop when he couldn’t zip them. “What the fuck?”
Zev walked in to look at him. “What is it?”
“I can’t get my pants on!”
“You can wear one of mine.”
“I’m not going to!”
“Akira there not going to fit. Not with you showing as much as you are.”
He gave an annoyed growl and looked at the swell of his stomach. In the last few weeks it had gotten bigger. He was only four months he shouldn’t look this round. “Fine.” The wolf watched as Akira walked over to the dresser. He sighed and shook his head. “I don’t want to hear it!”
“I didn’t say it.”
“You know what I mean!”
“I get it. I get it. If you want to you can also wear one of my shirts.” He ducked behind the door as a balled up shirt thumped against the door. “Geez I was just saying.”
Walking over to the bag he made sure they had everything stuffed inside it. Akira walked over in a pair of baggy cargo short that stopped past his knees. The shirt was big enough to swallow him whole. Gray eyes looked at him, “What?”
Zev smiled and walked over to him, “You look good.” The brunette looked away to hide the blush. He chose then to move. Arms snaked around Akira and pulled him close. He felt Zev pull his shirt up, “I love you both.” Fingers rubbed over his stomach and Akira found himself relaxing in Zev’s hold. “I’d die if you two were taken from me.”
His hands rested over Zev’s as he looked at the far wall. “Looks like I’ll have to try my damndest to stay with you then.”
Those blue eyes took on a stubborn look when Akira refused to ride on his back. It was his fourth month and he wanted to get on the ATV. Zev had shifted into his wolf form and was sitting waiting for Akira. “I’m not getting on your back. I’ll take the ATV.” He growled and then moved to block Akira from climbing on to the ATV. Star was sitting off to the side watching as the two stared each other down. Akira had his arms crossed and his gray eyes grew dark.
Mace and Star watched as Zev was moved away from the ATV. The look on Zev’s face was one of shock as he seemed to float. Then he started to flail as he hovered in the air. When Akira climbed onto the ATV and started it Zev dropped to the ground. He growled and quickly snagged Akira off the ATV.
“Put me down!”
“Come on Mace we’re leaving now.”
“O-okay.”
“Wait for me!” They looked back to see Justin running with two bag over his shoulder.
“What took you so long?”
“Mace… you forgot your bag!” He turned him around and put it on him. “There now don’t forget it.”
“Ah… s-s-sorry.”
Justin ruffled his hair and pushed Mace forward. “Come on let’s go. I want to get there.” The three quickly followed Zev and Akira who was now shouting threats at the wolf.
They stopped in a clearing and Zev sat the fuming Akira on the ground. “I’m capable of taking care of myself!”
“Sure, I’m not taking another chance. You haven’t been sleeping well lately.” Akira growled and Zev handed him some water. He snatched it from him as he muttered something. “I’m worried.”
“I didn’t do anything but protect myself and Mace!”
Star sighed as she looked at the other wolves that were resting in the clearing. “When are we leaving?” She looked at Justin. He was sitting on the ground next to Mace, who was about to fall asleep. Her eyes went back to Justin. Was he looking paler then normal?
“We’ll rest long enough to eat and then keep moving. If we can get Akira to corporate we could get there by later tonight.”
“He really is being stubborn.”
“No he thinks he’s being treated differently.” Zev rubbed the back of his neck and then looked at Mace. “Hey, why don’t you two go over with Akira? Mace looks like he’s going to fall over. It might also calm Akira down.”
“Okay.” The two walked over, well Mace was swaying as he walked. He wasn’t use to walking long distances. Justin placed a hand on his shoulder to steady him. Only Mace tripped and landed sprawled out on the ground. He sighed as he looked at his friend. That hooked tail was hanging in Mace’s face as he yawned.
Akira gave Mace a questioning look. “Did you get some sleep last night?”
Sitting up he yawned again and then proceeded to curl up next to Akira. That long tail wrapped around his body as his eyes closed. Gray eyes looked away as Justin knelt down, “He’s out.” His arm didn’t move from that raised position as he looked back at Mace. Then he gently placed it around the boy’s shoulders.
Star looked over her shoulder at Mace, “I’ve never seen him attach himself to someone. I’m glad he met Akira.”
Zev held the bottle of water in his hand. “I guess.”
“What’s wrong… jealous?”
“Hardly.” He took a drink from the water bottle. His head tipped back and Star nudged him. “Hmmm?”
“If something happens I need you to show Mace the ropes. Just from watching him with Akira I can tell he looks up to him. He’s got that same look he had when his dad told him those stories. They were stupid stories. I know he’s out there just wondering.”
“He did like to explore.”
“Yeah… I wish he would tell me these things.”
His blue eyes looked back at Mace and he gave a sigh. “One day it just might happen.”
“Hmmm…… what a day that would be.”
She glanced at him when his ears appeared on his head. Looking back he saw Akira waving at him to come over. It looked like Justin had crashed right next to Mace. Standing he walked over to Akira, “What is it?”
“When are we leaving?”
“Why?” The smirk on Zev’s face had Akira scowling. Leaning over he placed his hands against the tree above Akira’s head. His head dipped down and he kissed Akira. “Once everyone is finished resting we’ll leave.” He sat down next to Akira and let his head rest against his shoulder. “I’m going to take a nap.”
“You’re more of a cat then a wolf.”
“How so…” It came out as a murmur.
“You take more naps then a cat.”
“Mmmm… really…”
Akira felt himself growing sleepy, “Hey that’s… cheating…”
Zev chuckled and wrapped an arm around Akira’s waist. “Get some sleep then.” He didn’t even get to argue for he was already in a light doze. The feel of Zev’s hand against his hip made him squirm as Zev murmured. “Love you.” It was soft but he heard it before he slipped under.
When he came to, his face was buried against fur. His fingers tightened in the fur and he raised his head. Looking around he didn’t find Mace or Justin. Did they already head their separate ways? Blinking he found himself looking at a house. Squinting a little he tried to remember where he would have seen that house. Then he remembered when Rune came rushing out. “Akira!”
How long was he out for? “Zev…?”
He slid to the ground as a hand steadied him. Rune attached himself to Akira and it took everything to keep from falling over. “Guess what! Guess what!”
“Who the hell gave you sugar?”
“Sorry he insisted on it.” Keir was standing in the doorway.
Just then there was a shout and Marianela came running out. “Yuki!” Akira grunted as she hugged him. He blinked and hugged her back. “I was scared.”
“What do you mean?”
She pulled away and looked him in the face, “I heard from Ransom that this person walked up to everyone who knew you and kept asking where you had been. He even had a picture of you and Zev.”
“Do you know what he looks like?”
“No Ransom took me and we left with Rune and Keir. We’re going to head back a week after you two leave just in case they are still there.”
“Okay. As long as you’re safe.”
“I will be Ransom is the best bodyguard by far.”
“Where is… what are you doing?” Marianela looked up at him and stopped the tugging on his shirt.
“I wanna see.”
He pushed her away and raised an eyebrow. “There is nothing to see.” Stepping away he ducked behind Zev. “It is weird so quit it.” She leaned closer and peered at him. He started to lean back and she pointed.
“You’ve gained weight.”
Zev grinned and sweated a little after he heard the growl from Akira. Akira had tightened his grip on the fur he was clutching. “Maria…”
“Hopefully you keep some of it.”
He glared at her and she rested her hands on her hips. “You really need to put some kind of weight on you.”
“I’m fine!”
She waved her hand as she changed the subject, “Really I just want to see. I’m going to be the aunt after all.”
“Fine, but not out here!” The blond grinned and chirped out a quick, “okay,” as she happily ran into the house. The black wolf looked back at him and found Akira grumbling. “Don’t even say it.” He walked into the house and Zev followed after him.
Akira stood in the living room as Marianela looked at him from the side. “Zev! Can you come here.”
“What is it?” He looked over at Marianela when she called out to Zev.
Zev walked into the room and looked at her, “Yeah?”
“How many months is Akira?”
“Four.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“Akira is really showing.”
“I know he had a hard time with his clothes before we headed out.” He knelt down as Akira turned to the side.
“I’m still here!” They turned him back and looked. “H-Hey what are you doing?”
“Akira you don’t look four months.”
“What?!”
“I mean I’ve seen Akira from the side before but… I think there’s more than one in there.”
“Thank you for pointing that out Marianela!”
“You’re welcome.” He gave the grinning blond a scowl. The brunette jumped as Zev placed his ear against his stomach.
“W-what the hell are you doing?”
His face lit up as he quickly looked up at Akira, “I can hear them!” Akira made a sound and looked up at the ceiling to hide his red face. Then Zev grabbed his hand, “Come on lets go see Levana.”
“What!?”
Ransom poked his head out of the kitchen, “Be careful she’s got a pissed off visitor.”
“Okay!”
The brunette snagged the door frame and Zev jerked to a stop. “I can walk on my own!”
“But we need to hurry up!” After the wolf said that he picked Akira up and took off. A big grin was on Zev’s face. He could hear the baby inside Akira.
Levana looked up at the door and called out. “It’s opened.”
Zev walked in with a still protesting Akira. “Let go! Let go damn it!” Akira was sitting on his shoulder and was yanking on his hair. “Let go!” He was gently placed on a chair. “Why do you carry me like that? I’m not a sack of potatoes.”
He ignored Akira and looked at the white wolf, “Levana.” A growl came from Akira as he caught that Zev wasn’t listening. “I need to ask you a question.” She nodded and waved over to a room off to the side.
“In here. Akira why don’t you and your father have a nice long talk.” She stared at the man on the bed. His back had stiffened as she pointed him out. “I mean it. You tell him everything.”
When the door closed he sat up and sighed. The blanket covered his head as he looked at Akira. He saw the thin book in his hands and then he looked at him. You could see a fading mark under his left eye. He held the thin book out. “Here just look through it.”
He took the thin book and opened to the first page. There were pictures of his parents, a green haired man, Tito, another woman who looked like Daisuke, Flare and a black haired man he found familiar. As he flipped through the book the pictures looked like they were telling a story. As he got to the fourth page he found a picture of his mother standing next to… “That’s Mitch’s father.”
“Yeah.”
“Why…”
“Avel and Ellen are brother and sister.”
His brows drew in as he started to ask, “And Mitch is…?”
“Your cousin. I wanted to wait but now it’s better if I tell you everything.”
“How about you start with that mark under your eye?”
Daisuke sighed as he pulled the blanket down the rest of the way. “I’m a tainted. How I don’t know? I didn’t really kill anything anyone till after I turned seventeen.”
“Do you know what happened?”
His fingers scratched his slight point ears. “Damn things itch.”
He whapped him over the head with the book, “Answer me.”
“Alright! I really don’t know!” His hand dropped as he looked at him. “I was seventeen. I, Rainer, Tito and Caelan had just finally became what we wanted. Well except me I was forced into it. Being a second born son I was required to go into the combat part of the school.” He fingered the edge of the blanket and sighed, “The bad part is that I was really good at it but I would rather sit in a tree doing nothing.”
“That would explain why I prefer the tree house…” Daisuke glared at him when he heard the mutter. A book dropped onto Akira’s head. “Ow! What the hell!?”
“Shhhhh! I’m talking!”
He rubbed his aching head as he glared at Daisuke. ‘Stupid old man.’
“From the time I was placed into that school I was always doing shit to get out of class. Did you know from the time I could walk I had my whole life planed out for me but my father.” He leaned back against the wall. “I didn’t hate my father but I didn’t love him either. He made my life hell but then again I wouldn’t have met Ellen.”
“You said he was dead.”
“Yep. I don’t know how. Everyone who found his body and mine think I did it. I don’t blame them. With how we always fought who wouldn’t believe it.” His hand scratched at his ear again, “When I finally regained my senses I was behind the desk. His body was only a few feet from me. I didn’t know what was happening till the door came off its hinges and…” Daisuke shook his head, “They didn’t even try to figure it out. There I was covered in what could have been my father’s blood and his dead body lay a few feet from me. Of course running didn’t help.”
“What do they do to tainteds?”
“Lock them up and use them as attack dogs. I have such good friends. They busted me out and I vanished. Two days later Ellen runs into me. I panicked and ran. I find out later, after she cornered me, that she knew what was going to happen and that she wanted my help. Two months later we run into Tito, a month later Rainer and then Caelan. I should of known something was wrong after he became part of the group.”
“Is he the one…”
“Yeah.”
“Anything else you want to tell me?”
“Oh yeah. You need to learn to control that other part of you.”
“How?”
“It’s not that hard. I think.”
“You think.” Daisuke looked at Akira and grinned. “What do you mean by you think?”
“There is one other and the only one…”
“Was it you?”
He snorted and shook his head, “Like hell! I wouldn’t be here if it was. No it was another person; she was just like you mixed blood. I think being half and half is a good thing.”
“So I won’t just snap?”
“I don’t know we’ll have to see for now.” Akira sighed and rubbed his neck. Black eyes watched him as he leaned back in the chair. “I still can’t get over it.”
“Hmmm?”
“You being…”
“Pregnant?”
“Yes.”
“I guess it does take time getting use to it. I’m still trying to get over how big I am even though I’m four months in.”
“It could be you might be carrying more than one.”
“Please don’t say that.”
Daisuke chuckled and shook his head. They looked over when the door opened. Zev smiled as he walked out. “Well let’s get you home.”
“What did you two talk about?”
“Not much.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Akira’s eye narrowed as he stared at Zev. “What?”
“I’m hungry.”
He sighed as Daisuke chirped out a, “Good luck!”
The wolf frowned and muttered, “Ass.”
Akira stood up as he looked at Daisuke, “How long will you be around for?”
“Till it’s safe to go home.”
Zev walked outside as Levana walked out of the other room. “I see.” He turned to leave but stopped when Daisuke spoke up. “What is it?”
“Are… Is it all right…” He wasn’t looking at Akira as he stumbled over words trying to find the right ones. “The kid… can… I mean I’ll understand if you don’t want me to I haven’t been…”
“Sure.”
“Huh?”
“The past is the past. Why should I hold it against you?” Akira heard the sigh of relief. He didn’t see Daisuke grinning like a fool.
Zev caught the soft laugh, “What’s with you?”
“Nothing. I’m hungry.”
“Geez!”
“What?” He sweated when Akira growled at him. “Food, damn it.”
“Okay okay I get it.” The brunette stopped when he held out a medium sized box. “Levana knew what you were talking about. I didn’t know because I’ve never seen it and then I found out why.”
“Why?”
“Because that last time you probably had them was when you were a kid.”
He took the box from Zev and opened it. Inside were small bite sized candies in the shape of weird looking fruit. Zev snagged the box before Akira could grab one. “After you eat dinner. Then these are all yours.”
“Damn it.”
~~~~

“Zev!” He looked over at Marianela when she ran into the room. “I need you to shift into your wolf form.”

“Why?”

“Just do what she says before she finds dirt on ya.” Ransom walked past her quickly when she glared at him. “I’ll be watching TV.”

He dropped onto the couch and looked at Akira. The brunette was asleep with a pillow clutched firmly in his arms. He kept watching Akira; it was weird seeing him this relaxed. Maybe he could relax. Even now every fiber of his being was on high alert. Ever since he was tossed into the room with Akira and the others he was never able to relax.

He turned around when Zev walked out with Marianela. “Now go in there shift and walk out. I want to do something different and you’re the right size.”

“What?”

“Just get in there.”

“Why?”

“You’ll see.”

“Ransom what is she planning?”

“I don’t know she cornered me the other day. Be glad she can’t use the no card on you.”

“Ransom!” He clapped a hand over his mouth as both of them watched Akira. When he didn’t move they gave a sigh. “That was close.” She quickly pushed Zev into the room. “Hurry hurry. I need you to shift."

“Okay I’ll do it. Geez!” The door closed on him and Marianela sighed.

A few seconds later Zev stepped out in his wolf form. Then Marian was standing next to him. “Hold still. Hold yourself like normal.” She wrapped a measuring tape around his waist and then quickly measured his legs and then upper body. “Wow! His form is bigger than yours Ransom.”

“Thanks I feel even smaller now.”

Zev watched as she wrote something down in a notepad as she walked away. “If I do it right I should have it finished before you guys leave.” He slipped back into the room long enough to pull his pants back on.

As he stumbled he shouted out, “What are you talking about?”

“You’ll see!”

Ransom tipped his head back and looked at the wolf upside down. “What?”

“I can’t wait to see what she’s making. It’s driving me nuts I can’t even be in the same room if she’s working on it.”

Walking over Zev looked down at Akira. Leaning against the back of the couch he let his hand fall to run over Akira’s hair. “Ya know I’m glad you two met.”

He looked at Ransom, “Maria and Jett were worried that Akira would grow up to be an old grumpy man.” At that moment Akira’s foot kicked him in the ribs. Ransom clutched his side as he fell off the couch.

“Next time it’s between the legs.”

“Evil bastard you were awake the whole time!”

Akira sat up with the pillow behind him. “So what if I was?” He winced a little.

“Akira?”

“I’m fine.” He let his head rest against the couch. “Is the food done yet?”

“Yes we’re waiting for dad to get here before we start.”

“Okay.”

The blunette sat back on the couch but this time he placed at pillow between him and Akira. “Your kicks hurt like a bitch. You get pissed a lot easier then when you weren’t pregnant.”

“Can it mutt!”

The door opened and they all looked at the door. Mace was trying to catch his breath. “J-J-Ju-Justin… l-locked himself… the t-t-to-tool shed. He w-w-wo-won’t come o-out!” He took a breath as Zev walked over.

“Hey calm down. Where’s Star?” Zev crouched to look him in the eyes.

“S-St-Star is in… a m-me-meeting they w-won’t let me s-s-se-se-see her.”

“He’s in the tools shed right?”

“Y-yeah.”

“Okay.” He stood up, “Stay here with Akira so that Star will find you.”

“B-b-bu-but…”

His hand ruffled Mace’s hair, “Stay here he’ll be fine.”

“O-okay.” The three watched as Zev walked out the front door. Akira let his head fall back and Mace peeked over the back of the couch at Ransom.

Ransom grinned causing Mace to jump a little. “Ransom, stop scaring him!”

“I’m not I just smiled.”

“Bullshit you grinned and those are fucking creepy.”

“Dude kid in the room.” He leaned over towards Mace. “Don’t say what he says or you’ll end up like a grouch just like him.” The dog jumped over the back of the couch as Akira’s hand shot out to knock him over the head. “Missed.” He tripped over Rune and both tumbled. Mace was sitting on the back of the couch with Akira looking around him and at the two.

“Nope.”

“Is h-he okay?”

“They’ll be fine both have a thick head.”

“Hey!”

Akira stood and stretched. “Come on Mace help me raid the pantry.”

“O-okay!”

Zev knocked on the closed tool shed. “Justin?”

“Go… go away!”

“Hey Mace was worried.” There was a soft whine and Zev frowned. Something was wrong. He looked up a half filled moon hung in the sky. It wasn’t a full moon so it couldn’t be that. “Justin before your father left he told me to keep an eye on you. Today is your birthday?”

“So what if…it is!”

“He also told me about something else.”

It grew quiet and then there were sounds of movement. A scraping sound was soon followed by the door opening a crack. He pushed it opened to find Justin nowhere within sight. Closing the door he leaned against it and turned the light on. There was a soft hiss as the light filled the room. “Warn me… next time.”

“Sorry.” Something slid across the floor. Once the item stopped he found Justin’s glasses at his feet. Sounds of hacking and retching reached his ears. “Are you sick?”

“No…”

“What is it?”

There was a crack and Justin whimpered. “I… don’t know… it… hurts!” He crossed the small shed to find Justin hidden behind a barrel.

“I can see why now.”

“What…”

“How long have you been feeling the pain?”

Dark green eyes closed in pain as his whole body curved in on its self. “Since… after lunch…” His nails had grown longer and claws dug into the ground. “Does it always feel like this?”

“After this all you have to deal with are sore muscles for a while.”

“I’m going to go get something to tone down the pain.” Zev had stood up to leave when Justin snagged the back of his pant leg.

“Don’t… please…”

He nodded and sat back down. Every now and then he could hear a joint pop here and there. A bucket was paced in front of Justin as he tossed anything and everything back up. The older wolf patted Justin’s back as he gripped the old bucket. “It’s almost over.”

“It…” he made a gagging sound, “ugh… don’t feel like it is.”

Turning around Zev looked at the wall, “You should get out of your clothes.”

“Okay…” Justin weakly pulled his shirt off and dropped it on the ground. A few seconds later his pants were dropped next to it. He dropped to the ground and sat hunched over panting.

‘Three, two, one…’ What started off as a stifled cry of pain soon sounded like a growling howl. Looking over his shoulder he found Justin sprawled out on the ground. A soft whine came from the dark orange wolf, “You could pass as a large fox.”

Justin growled, *I’m part fox ya idiot*

“Really? I didn’t know that!” He had a grin on his face as Justin glared at him.

*stupid old man*

“Keep it up and I’ll tie you to a tree.”

Justin pushed himself up onto wobbly legs. He took a step and then tumbled forward into Zev’s side. Zev took a good look at the small wolf. The fur was the same color as his hair. His ears twitched, they were large and rounded with a slight point. He could hear a whole lot better this way. A short slim but bushy tail hung in his face. The boy turned animal gave a start when Zev picked him up and sat him on the ground.

“Try again. Better to get use to them now.”

He wasn’t surprised when Justin first form was full animal. Nathan’s family was from a rare blood line just like Zev’s family. That head turned and looked around as he walked the whole room. Every now and then he would stumble and knock against something.

Standing Zev pulled down a bag. He stuffed the clothes into the bag and turned to Justin. “Hey get in.”

Dark green eye started at him. *Why?*

“Someone is coming. Hurry.” He watched as the hybrid wolf hopped into the bag. “Stay still.” The bag was zipped closed as the door opened. Looking up he found another wolf looking at him. They nodded to him and Zev nodded back as he picked up the bag.

They walked out and he quickly made his way across an open field. *Where are we going?*

“Levana.”

*Why!?*

“We need to get you back to your normal self.”

*oh*

Zev shook the bag and Justin growled, “Oh quiet you.”

There was a knock at the door and Levana made her way over. She opened the door, “What is it Zev?”

He unzipped the bag and Justin looked up at her, “Oh my! You look so cute just like your father did when he first shifted!” She waved them in. Justin eyed the man on the bed currently sleeping. “Don’t worry about Daisuke. The sup meds are finally kicking in. He’ll be out most of the night.”

“Suppressants?”

“Yes I’ve used them before on fresh rogues. If brought in early enough I can suppress it long enough so that they can find themselves again.” She glanced at Zev to find him looking at the table but he wasn’t really seeing it. “Zev.”

He blinked and looked at her, “Sorry.” Justin jumped out of the bag. He walked over and sniffed at the foot that was hanging over the edge. When that cold nose touched the foot it jerked. The boy stumbled away from it as his fur stood on end.

*it moved!*

Zev chuckled as he sat down. “Well Levana he’s in your hands.”

“I’ll be right back. Keep those clothes I have some spares tucked away in the other room.” She picked the hybrid wolf up off the ground.

*No! Zev!* The boy struggled in her arms trying to get away. *Help!*

“You’re going to be fine.” The door closed as Justin cried out. There was a sound from the bed and looked over, “Did we wake you up?”

Daisuke grunted as he sat up and yawned. He slumped over while scratching his head.

“Now I know where he gets it from.”

Black eyes narrowed at him, “What?”

“Nothing.”

“Ugh I’m so tired!”

“Suppressants will do that.”

“So that’s what that foul shit is!”

“Yep.”

“How do you know that?”

Zev looked anywhere but him as he changed the subject, “I wonder where Star is?”

“You changed the subject.”

“I better go and get her.”

He stood up as Levana opened the door and pushed a now human Justin out the door, well the ears and tail were still attached. “I don’t know how he does it but having a tail is annoying.” His hands pulled at the large shirt and shorts.

She hugged the boy as she exclaimed, “He’s just as cute as his father!”

“Hey!” That tail was bristling as he tried to wiggle out of her hold. “Stop it!” Once he was free he ducked behind Zev. He was watching Levana closely as he tugged on Zev’s shirt. “Come on I want to go home!”

“I got it.” Levana handed something to him as he walked past her. “What is this?”

“For Justin. He’ll need it later. Give it to Star she’ll do everything else.”

“Okay.” She caught the way his shoulders were slumped as he walked out of the door.

Once the door closed she walked over and pulled the covers out from under Daisuke. He thudded to the ground. “What the hell!?”

“What did you say to him?”

“Nothing I just wanted to know why he knew about the suppressant!”

“Idiot that is a no-no area.”

“Hey, I’m not a kid!”

“You’re acting like one!”

“Why is he all bleh then?”

“Because even a wolf has a dark side to them!!”

Daisuke backed away and then sighed. “Fine I get it.”

“Zev has been through his share of love and lost. Don’t ask him about anything that deals with that part of his life.” Levana shook her head, “It’s not my place to say anything else.”

“It wouldn’t happen to be about a girl named Asta?”

“How do you…?”

“He told me when the seal on Akira’s wings broke.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Even a wolf can be driven mad by a lost loved one.”

“The last time I check you haven’t gone mad.”

“Who knows? Maybe I’ve already gone mad.” He climbed up on to the bed and tugged the blanket out of her hands. “I’m leaving tomorrow.”

“No you should stay for a few more days. I’m going to need some help soon.”

His onyx eyes watched her as she left the main room to go into the back room. “Fine.” He covered himself and clutched the pillow under his head. A hand reached over to grab the second one. He moved it closer and hugged it.

Zev opened the door as Justin rushed past him. He watched as the now ten year old was knocked off his feet by Mace. Star was standing nearby laughing. Walking past the kitchen he found Caden and Keir sitting at the table. Akira was trying to keep Marianela away as she fussed about his diet and what foods he should and shouldn’t eat. He slipped into the kitchen long enough to grab a cup filled with water and then slip out. Then he walked past Rune and Ransom sitting on the couch watching a game on the TV. As he climbed up the stairs he sighed and rubbed his eyes with his hand.

Akira caught sight of the wolf’s back. He stood and quickly followed after him. At the stair he called out to him. When he didn’t stop or say anything he became worried. Rushing up the steps he came to the closed door and eased it open. “Zev?”

The wolf was draped over the windowsill watching the sky. The cup of water sat next to him. Walking over he placed his hands on the back of the chair Zev was sitting on. “You still awake?”

“Hmmm?”

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

There was a sigh from Zev. A few seconds passed and two black ears perked up. “Akira?”

“What is it?” He sat on the end of the bed next to Zev.

“Is there such a thing as an afterlife?”

“Don’t ask me something like that.”

“Why not?”

“Because I wouldn’t know.”

“Remember that book?”

“Yeah.”

“You think she knows that I’ve finally read it.”

Akira watched Zev as his ear twitched. As the silence dragged on those ears on Zev’s head folded down as he glanced at him. A smirk found its way on Akira’s face as he sighed, “She’s probable going about damn time he picked up a book.”

Zev pouted and stuck his tongue out. “Why do you have to be mean?”

“I’m not mean. I’m just very blunt.”

He gave a sigh, “sure you are.” Sky blue eyes looked back out the window. Those eyes watched as different sized people slowly moved to their homes. Some had finally made to the small village others were heading home from working around in the area. His body went stiff as Akira started to rub his ears. A low muttered moan came from the wolf before he swiped at Akira’s hand. “Why must you do that?”

“I like the sounds you make.” The brunette gently pushed him back as he slid onto his lap. He kissed him as Zev’s arm wrapped around him and his other hand rested on Akira’s stomach. A grin spread across Zev’s face as Akira buried his face against his neck. “You smell good.” A few moments passed and Zev shifted his weight on the chair, “I don’t want to move.”

A chuckle came from Zev, “Aren’t you acting all lazy like.”

“Hush you.”

“Did you eat already?”

“Yeah.” Zev rubbed his shoulders and kissed him once again. “I know you didn’t.”

“Don’t worry I’ll find some food later.” Akira fought back a yawn making him chuckle. “Okay time to sleep.”

“Hell no.”

“Come on Akira.”

“You’re still depressed about something I’m not moving until you are back to yourself.”

“Well I need to eat.”

“Fine you have one hour to eat if you’re not back I’m dragging you back up.”

“Okay you win.” He slid off of Zev’s lap and sat on the edge of the bed. Leaning over he quickly kissed Akira. “I love you.”

“You tell me all the time.”

Fingers brushed over his face. “Akira, I’ll do everything to keep you next to me.” That hand pulled away and he watched as Zev walked out of the room. Gray eyes closed as he took a breath.

‘Why would I want to leave?’ He crawled all the way onto the bed and sat down. His hands ran over the round stomach. “Something tells me you’re going to be a handful.” Akira blinked and then smiled, “Damn I’m talking to myself now.”

Marianela opened the door, “Yu…ki” she smiled as she found Akira sitting up sleeping. Walking over she quickly covered him and turned around. Zev was standing there grinning. “What’s with the stupid grin?”

“You’re such a good sister.”

“Oh hush. I’ll leave you two alone now.”

“Okay…” She walked past him as he walked into the room. “Night.”

“Night.”

Walking over to the bed he moved Akira till he was laying out on the bed. Pulling the covers back up he climbed in next to him. His hand brushed over Akira’s forehead and he frowned. The thick cover was pushed away as he pulled Akira closer.

Well I just found out I’m not moving… till the summer. That’s good in more ways than one. I now have to start looking for a job…… Wish me luck. I’m going to need a lot of it.
