Wish me luck and enjoy the story!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mace walked balancing the tray in his hands. The cups full of juice would tip and he would try to keep it from falling over. Everyone was either still asleep or just wakening up and this was the only time he could bring her food. He sat the tray down and opened a door. A bar door kept him from going all the way in. It was Star’s idea and had been up since Akira had found him. He pushed the try under the door. “Mama…” He couldn’t see her. His head turned so he could better see the place. Looking through the bars he finally saw her sitting at the table. “I b-brought you s-s-some food. I c-c-can’t come in any m-more but I’ll come say hi.”
He stood up and went to close the door. As he walked away there was a loud shatter. His whole body went stiff. Then he was running down the hall. He collided with something and fell onto the ground. Dazed he shook his head. “Mace what are you doing down there?”
“N-n-n-nothing…” Justin was standing there with a scowl on his face. He pulled him to his feet and they left the marked passage way.
“Now come on. You’re lucky that I found you.” They walked further down the hall.
“W-w-wh- wh…” He looked back at the boy and stopped. The small boy ran into him.
His hands grabbed his head, “Slow down. Think and then speak.”
The small brunette swallowed and took a deep breath. “Where are we g-g-g…?”
He sighed as he answered, “We’re going to see Akira.” He grabbed the boy’s hand and pulled him along. “He collapsed the other day.” Looking back he smiled, “I think we should go and cause some trouble. Yes?”
When they got to the room they heard the yelp. Looking in they found Akira pulling on Zev’s ear. “Get over here so I can rip that damn barbell out of your eyebrow!”
“Nooooo!” He whimpered as he tried to get Akira to let go of his ear. “I was only joking! Please let go!”
His eyes narrowed as Zev looked away. The sweat rolled down the side of his face and then a pillow smacked him in the head. He fell to the ground, the pillow dropping into his lap. Zev rubbed his ear and muttered as he grabbed the pillow.
Standing he noticed the two in the doorway. “It’s a little early for you two to be up.”
“Aw who cares I was looking for Mace and thought he would like to come see Akira.” Justin pulled him into the room and Mace gave a nervous wave.
“H-H-Hi.”
“You’ve been back there haven’t you?”
Mace didn’t look at Akira for a while as he twisted his hands in his shirt. He flinched at the sigh, “S-S-S-S…” A hand thumped him on his back.
“Slow down.” He looked at Justin. “Breath, we don’t bite!” There was a grin on his face as he placed his hands in his pockets.
He took a breath, “I w-wanted to s-see…”
“If he wants to see his mom let him.” The boy flinched at the cold tone. The growl from Justin had Akira looking at him, “And you call yourself his best friend.”
Justin bristled even more at what he said, “I am his best friend! I’m better than everyone else in this place! Everyone doesn’t want him to be-!”
“Justin!” The small brunette tackled Justin to the ground and covered his mouth. Zev sighed and crossed his arms.
Akira leaned closer to Zev as they watched the two argue. “What was that about?”
“Mace doesn’t want anyone to know his father is an alpha.”
“Really, he’s a little to skittish isn’t he?”
“Yeah but he wasn’t always like this.” He sat down in a chair next to the bed. “Star said he was just as lively as Justin. Maybe a little shyer but now he’s worse.”
“Oh. When did it start?”
“When his father pulled a Houdini.” Zev reached over to grab the pillow off the ground. “He always would just disappear but he’d be back by the end of the week. It was his way of getting rid of stress. Not to mention he liked to go on adventures, he would always have these neat stories to tell everyone.”
“So you’ve met him?”
“Yeah, I met him when I met Star.”
Akira pushed the blankets away and swung his feet over the edge. He could hear the two kids still talking in hushed tones. His foot rested on Zev’s leg. “Zev, you won’t disappear?”
A smile appeared on his face as he reached over. “Now why the hell would I do that?” His hand rested on Akira’s stomach.
“Six more to go.”
“Yeah.”
Mace came running over and climbed up onto the bed. He ducked behind Akira only to peek around his arm and stick his tongue out. “How about you do that right in front of me?” He shook his head and Justin growled, “Stop hiding!”
“I’m n-n-not!”
“Sure you are!”
There was a loud growl. They all grew quiet as Mace went red in the face. Akira snorted as Zev chuckled, “I think Mace is hungry.”
Justin reached up and pulled Mace off the bed, “Come on you’re eating with me and my old man.”
“N-n-no I’m o-okay.”
“Come on!” They watched as Justin pulled Mace out of the room.
Zev stood up and looked at Akira, “Can you stand up?”
“Zev.”
The look Akira gave him made him look away, “I’m just asking.”
“I’m fine. I just have to get more iron. It’s just mild anemia.” He slipped off the bed and stood there. His arms reached up above his head as he stretched. There was a faint crack and Akira let his arms drop, “I hate sitting around.” He followed Zev as they walk out of the room. “I want to sleep on the soft bed, that one was killing my back.”
“Speaking of your back…”
“I take them out once a week. That is all I’m doing.”
“Got it.” His arm hooked around Akira’s waist and pulled him closer. “I can’t believe they wanted you to stay there for two nights. I was lonely.” He didn’t have to look at Zev to know the wolf was pouting.
Akira smiled as he shook his head, “Sorry.”
He stopped causing Akira to stop since that arm was still around his waist. “Akira?”
“Hmmm?”
“Your showing.”
“Huh?” The brunette found himself being pulled down a hall. Zev turned him and pulled his shirt up. “What are you doing?”
“Looking.” The once flat stomach was now growing out, “Odd you’re only in your third month. Well not much,” Zev stood back up and straightened Akira’s shirt, “you can’t tell with the shirt covering it.”
“Okay I’m getting a stomach. Marianela would be glad I’m gaining weight.”
“She might be happier if you kept it.” He grabbed Akira’s hand and they walked further down the hall.
“What are you trying to say?”
“You can’t keep anything on you. You burn fat faster and I’ll tell you most girls would kill to have that.”
“I think it sucks.”
“Why?”
“Cause I’m always hungry.” His fingers pulled at his shirt. “You sure no one can tell?”
“I’m sure. But unless you can mask your scent that would be the dead giveaway.”
“Damn it.”
“It can’t be that bad.”
The look on Akira’s face had Zev grinning, “Okay how about we switch places and you go through what I’m going through.”
“I’d pass.”
“That’s what I thought.” Akira pushed the door opened and walked into their room. He watched as Akira sat in the middle of the room. He leaned against the door frame as Akira pulled his shirt off. Once off, the muscles in his back twitched as those wings stretched out. Walking over to Akira he knelt down and let his hand run down his spine. “H-hey!”
He found himself in Zev’s lap, straddling his waist, as fingers ran over his stomach. “I can’t wait to see what the pup looks like.”
“What if it’s more than one?”
“You won’t hurt me will you?” He shrugged causing his wings to shift some. Really he didn’t care what happened just as long as they live through it all. A smile appeared on his face and Zev chose then to lean over to kiss him. His hands reached up and Zev grabbed one. They sat in the middle of the room for some time not moving. He was glad Akira was still sitting here. With everything the slim male had gone through he was glad he survived all of it. Raising a family would probably be an easy thing compared to everything else.
A grin spread across his face, Akira was half dozing when he thumped his knuckles against the wolf’s chest. “Don’t even think about it. One time is one time. Got it?”
“I got it. As long as this one is the one to take over.” He couldn’t help his grin as it grew at the whispered ‘I’ll think about it’ that fallowed a few minutes later. They soon were interrupted by the load shout from Justin. Then a soft knock followed after. They sighed as Akira stood and his wings disappeared. Zev walked out of the room and opened the door.
“Your too loud what do you want?”
“Quit ya grouching ya old wolf.” Zev gave a growl as Justin pushed his way past him.
“Who are you calling old brat?”
“You.”
Mace quickly scrambled past Zev and Justin into the bedroom looking for Akira. An old box was clutched in his hands. Akira looked over to see Mace he had a grin on his face. “I w-w-want to f-finish the game.”
“Okay.” He pulled the rest of the shirt down and took the offered box. They walked out to find Justin and Zev arguing. “Hold this real quick.” He walked up to both of them, “Who started it?”
They pointed at each other, “He did!” He sighed and then smacked them both over the head. Both of them held their heads as Akira walked away.
“I just finished it.”
“You didn’t have to hit so hard!”
Gray eyes looked at him and Justin glared at him. Mace sat the box down on the small table. “Mace can you set up the board?”
“Um… o-okay.”
Zev muttered as he rubbed his head. Akira had a mean punch. Justin shuffled away and flopped on top of the couch. He pulled out a piece of paper and pencil. He sat hunched over it the pencil would scrap over the paper only to be quickly erased. Leaning over his shoulder Zev could see the first few words. “Nosey much.” The tip of the pencil was shoved into his face. “Stop looking it isn’t for your eyes.”
He sighed and dropped down on the chair. A hand pat him on the head and he leaned back to see Akira holding a cup of hot liquid. Those gray eyes were focused on the checker board. They sat in the room doing what they wanted.
Zev kicked Justin off the couch and sprawled out on it to nap. Justin was still writing away on a piece of paper. While Akira and Mace played their game.
There was a loud thud against the door. A passing wolf guard stopped and looked at the door. The handle moved. In a split second that door swung open as the wolf’s body jerked and fell to the ground. There was a shuffling sound as hands searched the body. Sounds of people talking flouted down the hall. The person took off as they got near.
He walked through the halls. His dark green eyes watched as the people would look at him only to turn away when his eyes met theirs. Justin rolled his shoulders and walked forward. His father was the one who stood next to the alpha. His father kept Mace’s father in line as they were growing up. Since the man took over at an early age, he had a problem with dropping everything and disappearing.
The den didn’t like him or his father. It didn’t take a genius to figure out way he was hated. He wasn’t even born in the den. His father just appeared with him in his arms three months after he was born.
Justin pushed the door opened and found Mace sitting on a couch he was trying to read a book. Star was sitting next to him helping him with words that he would stumble across. Rash was curled up next to Mace. He looked up at Justin when the door opened. “Hellooo!”
Mace glanced over and smiled. “Justin!”
“Hello Justin.”
“Hey Star! Mace I won’t be around for an hour. Don’t do anything stupid.” He smiled at Justin and the boy quickly turned around. “I’ll see you guys at dinner.”
“That’s right it’s Justin’s turn to eat here.”
She got a quick nodded from Mace. “Well I’ll see you two later.” They waved as Justin walked out of the living space.
A few minutes passed as he started to read the book again. Then there was a knock on the door that caused Rash to look up. Star stood up and walked over to answer it. She found two men and a woman standing there. Mace glanced over when he heard the hushed whispers.
The woman and men then took off and Star turned to Mace. “Don’t answer the door for anyone but me. I’ll be right back.”
“W-w-what is going on?”
“I’ll be back with Akira you two can play a game.”
“O-o-okay.”
The door closed and he sat there with the book in his lap. What was going on? He stood up and walked over to the door. Placing his hands against it he leaned over to listen outside. Just as he was trying to hear something, something banged against the door. Mace fell back and swallowed. Rash sprung to his feet and started growling and barking. The door started to swing open. Running over he grabbed a chair and shoved it under the handle. It caused the door to slam shut. Climbing up onto the chair he quickly locked it and bolted the lock. Star had the key so she would be able to unlock it.
Whatever it was kept banging against the door. The door shook and he dove under the couch. His tail wrapped around himself as he pulled at his floppy ears. ‘Where are you father? Please come home! I’m scared! Justin!!’ The wolf kept growling as the banging kept up. He backed up till he was close to Mace who was trembling under the couch.
The banging stopped and then it grew quite. He looked out to see the chair still there. When Rash bumped up against him did he slowly start to calm down. It was quiet, for how long he didn’t know. Just then the chair moved and he yelped as it clattered to the ground. He closed his eyes tight and whimpered. The door opened up and two pairs of feet came in. One was more rushed then the other.
‘Please don’t find me!’ His hands tightened in the wolf’s fur.
He listened as the feet walked over to him. “Mace!” Doors opened and then the second pair of feet rushed over to the other ones. “Do you think…?” There was movement and then something dropped to the ground. “Mace! Damn boy you scared me!”
“Someone was at the door.” Rash barked and let his tail thump against the ground.
‘Akira?’
“Who?”
“Get Mace out and I can tell you what happened.” Those feet moved around the couch and then sat down on a chair.
Star reached under the couch and paced her hand on Mace’s shoulder. “Come on Mace your safe now. Come on out. We need to know what happened.” The wolf moved out from under the couch and licked Star’s hand. “Good boy Rash.”
His head shook and she sighed. “Mace…” Just then the couch moved and Mace yelped as something pulled him to his feet. Akira’s hands held his shoulders.
“Now look around.”
“Akira you shouldn’t be…” The look on his face stopped her from finishing the sentence. “Never mind.”
“Do you see anyone in here other than us?”
“N-n-no.”
“Then you’re safe.” Mace looked back at Akira, only to turn his head back around. “Where were you standing?”
“B-b-by the d-d-do-door.” His hand rested on Mace’s head. “W-w-what…?”
“Who opened the door?”
“I… d-d-do-don’t know.”
“Close your eyes and think about it. Why was the chair placed in front of the door?” The small boy gripped at his shirt with both hands as he closed his eyes. He remembered the sound and then a louder sound against the door. The door opened… “Star you were right.”
The hand disappeared and Mace looked at Akira, “So it was…?”
“Yeah. His reaction was fast but I still caught it before the door was slammed shut. I also saw a weapon.” He glanced at Mace, “I’ll stay here and make sure the door stays closed. Besides I think Zev would end up putting me on a leash if he found out I was running around out there.”
“Thanks Akira.” She knelt down and placed her hand on Mace’s shoulders. “Stay with Akira. You’ll be safer with him.” They stood there and watched as she ran out of the living space.
“So… want to help me move something heavier to block the door?”
“S-sure.”
Once the door had a chest of drawers in front of it they both sat where they could see the whole room. “This way if they come from above we’ll know it.” He looked at the boy and smiled at him. Mace shifted closer to Akira as Rash sat next to Mace. It was quiet for a few minutes till Mace finally spoke up.
“I-I’ll be nine in a few m-m-months.”
“Really?”
“Y-yeah.” He looked up at Akira. “W-wi-will you be th-there?”
“Hmmm…” Gray eyes looked up at the ceiling. “I should be. If not I’ll come next year if I can.”
“O-okay.” He saw the way the boy lowered his head. For someone who didn’t like parties or to even mention birthdays, he just wanted to avoid them at all costs. He didn’t see the reason for celebrating them. But here was Mace who wanted to… he sighed.
Akira placed his hand on his head, “I’ll do my best to come to your birthday.”
“Wh-when is Akira’s?”
“On the coldest day of winter.”
“I d-don’t get it.”
“If you knew everything about me you would.”
“O-oh. W-well I hope i-it’s… um… warmer… yeah w-warmer this y-year.” He smiled up at Akira. “N-nobody should be cold when there’s a w-warm family around.”
The brunette sighed as he smiled. This must be what they mean by child innocence. He was forced to grow up at a young age. Mace shouldn’t have to go through that. He let his head rest against the wall as his eyes moved around the room. Something moved past the skylights. Sitting up he watched the windows. Gray eyes narrowed and he gripped Mace’s shoulder. “Mace.” The boy looked at him, “Anything that happens after this is to stay between us.”
“W-why?”
“There are things that most wouldn’t understand and it would make things harder for me and Zev.” He smiled at Mace and then pointed up. “We have a visitor.” Rash stood and started to growl.
“H-huh?!”
His hand grabbed Mace’s arm and hauled the boy to his feet. Just then there was a loud shatter as a good sized rock crushed through the window. They rushed across the room and into one of the two bedrooms. The door closed and Akira started to push the desk in front of the door. They both looked at the door as there was a loud yelp. “R-rash.” There was a hushing sound from Akira. Then Mace put his weight against the desk and the thing started to move faster. It was in place as someone banged against the door.
There was an enraged scream from the other side. The boy clung to Akira and whimpered, “S-s-sh-she’s m-m-ma-ma-mad.” Akira pulled his shirt off and turned Mace towards him.
“Anything you see from here on you don’t tell anyone.” He nodded and watched as Akira pulled a long sleeve shirt out of the closet. “Put this on. I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Um…” The shirt was dropped into his arms and he quickly pulled it on. When his head came out of the neck hole his eyes widened. Two wings were on Akira’s back.
His body duck and pulled Mace close as gunshots were heard from the other side of the door. “Hold on.” The window shattered and Mace jumped, “That was me.” His eyes went wide as they flew through the broken window. There was a sharp pain in his wing and Akira let out a hiss that went unnoticed by Mace. Looking at the shattered skylight he saw the blood. ‘Damn it.’
Mace squeaked and gripped Akira, “H-high!”
Akira spotted an opened window and he dropped to the ground. He poked his head in. Looking around he found it to be full of wooden furniture. Gripping the window he wrenched it opened and Mace sat there gawking. “H-how?”
“I asked the same thing when I broke something a human couldn’t break.” He picked Mace up and then dropped into the room. Sitting Mace down he placed his feet on the ground. Pulling on his wing he looked at it. It was only a slight gash. There was a sound and he cursed to himself. That scratch was going to bug him till it was healed. The gash on his wing stung and those wings were already disappearing. Then the door swung open. Two women looked at them.
“Mace what are you doing out of the room?”
They both looked at Akira as he started talking. “We were attacked. We got out through the skylight. Where’s Star?”
“We don’t know.” One of the women looked out the door as Akira pulled his shirt on. “Stay with us we can help you find her.”
They quickly walked down the halls. Akira kept Mace in fount of him as they walked. He could still feel the scratch on his wing. Pushing it to the back of his mind he finally noticed something was off. His mind was going over different plans as they walked. That person wanted Mace, “Mace who was it on the other side of the door?”
The boy looked back at him. “I th-think it was m-m-mom.”
“How the hell did she get a hold of a gun?”
The woman in the front looked back, “There are weapon lockers around here… but only certain people know about them. The halls with the marks have them but you have to have a key code.”
“Are there any near here?”
He heard the woman behind him. “There is one. But you need a key code.”
“Who made the key code?”
“AJ.”
“Who?”
Mace spoke up from where he was standing, “M-my father.”
“I need to know everything about him and the names of those he’s close to.” He turned to the woman behind him. “Can you take me there?”
“Um…”
“Aira we can’t!”
Aira bit her lip and then nodded. “Sara, we have to keep Mace safe at all costs.” The other woman sighed and then nodded. “Okay follow me.”
Zev glanced over his shoulder when he heard the gun shots. Glancing at Star he saw her running back down the hall. The other weres looked at him and then he took off after her. Rounding a corner he found her ramming against a door. It wasn’t working so well. He stopped her and then looked at the door. Grabbing the knob he pushed on the door. “You’re too worried.”
“What about Akira he’s in there too!”
“I don’t smell blood.” He pushed against the door once again and sighed. “Something is blocking it.”
“That boy always does that.”
“Does what?”
“If he’s scared he’ll push something in front of the door.”
“Push on three.”
He turned the knob. “Three.” She didn’t even wait and Zev sighed as he shoved his weight against the door. Something slid and then Star pushed him out of the way. Her slim frame slipped into the room. There was a scraping sound as she moved something away from the door.
“Well?” They looked around. “Windows are broken and that door is closed.” He looked at the chair under the broken window. “They got out by the window.” His eyes caught sight of Rash running out the door. “Where…”
“That door has bullet holes!”
“I smell no…” he sniffed and then walked over to the door. “Akira?”
“Zev, what is it?” Her body stiffened when there was a loud snap. The wooden door and hinges were pulled off of the frame. “Zev!”
“Tell AJ I’m sorry about the door.”
“Why didn’t you do that to the other door?!”
“I’m not going to break the front door. The last thing I need is AJ taking a chunk out of me.”
“You’re crazy!”
“Nope just worried about my mate.” He looked around and then sniffed the air. His eyes landed on the broken skylight. Pushing the dresser away from the door he walked over till he was underneath the skylight. Jumping up, his hands gently gripped the edges being careful of the sharp glass. Taking a better look he found blood on one of the sharp points. Zev grabbed the feather that clung to the glass. It was a white feather.
Dropped to the ground and looked at Star. “What is it?”
He held a feather up, “He’s injured. Most likely he’s feeling the pain.”
“Where could he have gone?”
“Somewhere close…”
Two weres shifted as they ran into the room, “Star someone is trying to access another weapons locker.”
“Where?”
“In one of the marked halls.”
“Take me there.” She turned to Zev, “You go find Mace and Akira.”
He waved as Star left the room. Looking down at the feather he sighed. ‘Please be careful.’
“Damn it that didn’t work either.” He looked at Mace and smirked, no wonder he couldn’t figure it out. His fingers pressed the buttons. It made a sound and Akira sighed. Pulling the door opened he stopped at the sight of another key pad. “What the hell?”
Sara looked over at him, “That’s a new one. AJ must have put it in before he left.”
He punched in Mace’s name again but it made a loud sound that had all of them jumping away. “Shit you think it’s not loud enough.” Akira pulled Mace close to him. “Who else was your father close with?”
“Um…” Mace closed his eyes and tried to think. “Justin’s father.”
“What’s his name?”
“I c-can’t…”
“We need to leave now!” They turned to find Aira running towards them. “Grab Mace and…” Her body jerked and fell over as a bang echoed through the hall. Turning, Akira grabbed Mace and took off running down the halls. Once he was far enough he slid around a corner. His back pressed against the wall. Pain shot through his back and he let out a hiss. Sara was crouched beside him. She would glance around the corner every now and then.
“It’s Mace’s mother.”
He squeaked, “M-m-mo-mom?”
“Quiet Mace.” The boy grew quiet as they heard someone drew closer.
“Mace! I know your there. Mama’s not happy.”
Akira tightened his grip on Mace. “Don’t say anything.” The fear from Mace was muddling his mind. “Mace, relax.” The boy was shaking as Akira moved him till he was behind him.
Sara looked back to see Akira standing in front of Mace. “You two should run.”
“No. I’m not running, a bad habit but I won’t run.” He looked past her and Sara turned to come face to face with a rifle. She jumped back as Akira’s eyes grew dark. The woman behind the gun had long golden brown hair and hazel eyes. Mace peeked around Akira and then gripped at the back of his shirt.
“Give me my son.”
“And if I don’t.” Akira didn’t flinch as that gun was thrust into his face.
“I’ll blow your face off.”
That odd smirk was on his face as he tipped his head to the side. A humored reply came from him, “I’m so scared.”
The small boy paled and whimpered as the woman grew red in the face. She gave a growl as she twisted the gun around. It swung.
Zev slid to a stop when he heard a scream. Turning he tore off down the passage way. At the same time Star had come to a stop outside an opened weapons locker. “Two weapons are missing.” She looked away when she heard the shout. Then they were running down the hall.
One hour before the scream a chair squeaked as it moved back from the desk. A hand reached up and rubbed at tired eyes. Dark green eyes looked at a picture sitting on the desk. His hand reached over and picked it up. ‘Where are you AJ?’ Just then the door to the room opened up and the picture clattered as it fell onto the desk.
“Oi dad!” The man leaned over as he clutched at his chest. His son was going to give him a heart attack one day. The boy was quieter than his mother when it came to walking around.
“What are you doing home?”
“It’s been an hour. Mom left she said bye.” He turned the light on and the man flinched a little. “Geez you’re the worse. As soon as I got back I found out that the whole place is under lockdown.” The man had pale brown hair that was shorter then Justin’s hair. He looked to be in his early twenties when he was a few years older than Zev.
“Really?”
“Stupid.”
“Brat.”
“Old man!” They growled at each other and then Justin turned on his heel. “I’m going to find Mace.”
“Oh hell you will.” He was yanked back and pushed in the direction of his room. “There is a reason when the den is on lock down. You’re staying here.”
“No way Mace is probably crying in a corner somewhere!”
“I’ll go find him then!”
Just then his head turned towards the door as gunshots were heard. “What the hell? Ow!” He held his ear. “That hurts!”
“Watch your language. You’re still too young to be talking that way.” He walked over to the desk and reached underneath it. Justin watched as his father pulled out a revolver. He opened the cylinder and then reached back under the desk. “Go to your room. I don’t want you to follow me.”
“Why not?”
“You’ll understand when you’re older.” The man walked out of the living space and then the door closed. The boy frowned, and then he ran over to find the door locked. He tugged on the door. His hand twisted and yanked on the knob till his arms grew tired. He then dropped to his knees as his head banged against the door. The words his father said echoed through his head. He wanted to understand now, he wanted to know if Mace was safe or not.
“Mace, please be safe.” Curling up against the wall next to the door he laid his head on his arms. “Damn it.” Standing once more he pulled a hair pin out of his pocket. He had a promise to keep. The door gave an audible click and then the door opened. Closing the door he looked around. He had to find Mace.
