Marianela gave a big grin. They all backed away very slowly. “If we keep moving we might be able to escape.”

Ransom nodded as he and Akira turned to make a mad dash for the back door. Akira made a choking sound as she grabbed the back of his shirt. “Yuki! You know you have to eat more than just the meat, right?!”

“I’m not eating the veggies!”

“You’re eating them!”

“No!” He clawed at the door frame. “Zev!”

The wolf looked at him and he shouted as Marianela dragged him back into the kitchen. “Just eat them Akira, so she won’t have to strangle you with them.”

“Veggies are spawns of evil.”

“Just eat them.” Marianela pushed the plate towards him and he pushed it away. “Damn it Yuki!”

Hawk was giggling as the blond whapped him over his head. They glared at each other. One was holding their head and the other had a wooden spoon. “Eat!”

“No.”

“Eat it.”

“Hell no.”

“Eat the damn veggies or so help me I’ll brain you with this damn spoon.”

He muttered and then turned to the plate. “I’ll eat half of it.”

She sighed, “Yuki…”

Mitch clapped his hands together and said in a low voice. “If Akira doesn’t want me to force feed him the food then he’ll eat all of what is on his plate. Now.”

They grew quiet and Zev shivered at the older brunette’s tone. ‘He is creepy like that.’

Akira took a bite and made a face. A hand clamped over his mouth, “Swallow it.” With a grimace he swallowed the food and made a face. He was out of the room covering his mouth. “Guess Zev was right.”

“Told you so.”

They looked out to see Zev surrounded by bags. “So when are you two leaving?”

“Tomorrow.”

“For how long?” He looked at the blond and smiled.

“Not too long we’ll be coming back to show the kiddy off.”

“What if there are two?”

Akira appeared out of the bathroom a wet rag in his hand. “If it is two then I’ll be pissed.” Mitch dropped an arm around Akira’s shoulders.

“Cheer up. Do you know how long I’ll have to wait before I can have a kid?”

“Twenty-five years.” He pushed the arm off his shoulders.

“Really?” He started to count off the years, “But I’ll still look like me while Jett gets older.”

Two arms hugged him and the other three looked away as Jett nipped at his ear. “You can just be my younger lover.”

A grin spread across Mitch’s face. “To the room!” Akira sighed and shook his head as they watched Mitch drag Jett up the stairs. Jett waved and gave Akira a thumbs-up.

“Now let’s get the hell out of here.” Zev chuckled as Ransom sighed.

“Using my brother as a sacrifice. That is low.”

“Jett didn’t argue.”

Ransom sighed and stood up. “Well I’ve got to find something to do.”

Zev found his head being tipped back to look up at Akira. “Hello.”

“So where do you want to go?”

“Hmmm, how about a trek through the woods.”

“Sure.”

Marianela looked out of the kitchen at them, “You take it easy Yuki.”

“I know I know.”

“Don’t worry Maria I’ll bring him back in one piece.”

“Oh please do I’ll be deathly scared if he didn’t.”

Ransom snorted as Akira rolled his eyes, “Maria sarcasm is not fitting for you.”

“Yuki if I find one scratch on you I’ll lock you inside this house till that child is born.”

“Oh I’m so scared.” He pushed Zev out the door just as a spoon hit the door where he was standing at. “Missed me! Run!”

“Get back here Yuki!” She chased him outside and Ransom sighed as he walked over to the door. He leaned against the door frame and smiled. Marianela turned around and saw Ransom. “What?”

“Nothing.” She saw the smile and walked over to him.

“Really?”

“Yeah nothing, just watching.” He kissed her.

“You need to smile more.”

“I do.”

“None of those fake ones.”

“I smile only for you.” They walked into the house as he wrapped an arm around her waist.

Zev sat on top of a boulder. Akira was crouched on top of a small one in the middle of a small creek. His eyes watched the water as it rushed past him. “What are you doing?”

“Watching.” He reached out and touched the top of the cool water. His finger caused the top of it to ripple and interrupt the flow of water. “I still can’t get my head around it.”

He sat on the rock and let his feet hang into the water. There was a slight splash and he glanced over to see Zev walk over to him in the ankle high water. “Akira.” He slipped his fingers into Akira’s short hair and kissed him. A moan slipped from Akira as Zev slipped his tongue into his mouth. They pulled apart and Zev smirked. “One step at a time.”

“Yeah yeah.”

The wolf stood to his full height and looked up. The sun was coming in through the leaves of the trees. Glancing up, Akira gave a sigh. “It’s going to be different there then living in the city.”

“Anywhere is better than this city.” He muttered as he looked away. “I want to leave this place.”

“Where would you go?”

“The ocean.”

“Ocean?”

He was quite as he let his feet splash in the water. “Yeah.”

Zev sighed and then smiled. “Okay.” He watched as Akira stood.

“I’ve always thought of doing it. But I never had the money.” The brunette walked over to where his shoes were at. “I want to keep walking.”

The door creaked open and Akira looked around. He and Zev had stayed out late in the woods. He slipped inside and quietly walked up the stairs. His door eased open and he slipped inside. Letting out a sigh as the door closed, he moved to flip on the light. Once the room was flooded with light he turned around.

“You’re home late.”

“Damn it Jett you scared me.”

“Sorry. How was the hike?” The black haired male had a questioning look in his eyes.

“It was just a hike.”

Jett moved his body a little and the chair creaked. “So will I be named god father?”

Akira looked at Jett, “Why is everyone so calm about this?”

“I’m not. A lot can happen. It’s just not as big as everything that has happened. Then again it seems big to you because it is happening to you.”

“I get it. One step at a time.”

“Good thing you’re still so smart.”

He wacked him over the head, “Get out of my room I need to get up early.”

Jett started laughing. “Okay I’ll go.” He sat something on his desk. “If you ever want to talk.” The dark haired male left the room. Akira walked over and looked at the small bird on the desk. The small mechanical bird sat on his desk not moving.

His shirt came off and he stopped. Looking down he ran his fingers over his stomach. Something was in there. He smiled and walked over to his bed. As he laid down he gave a sigh as his body relaxed. Once he fell asleep his body curled up under the blanket and his arms seemed to wrap around his stomach.

The engine was cut as the four wheeler pulled up to where Zev was sitting in his wolf from. The tail wagged and he grinned. “Okay you win… this time.” He climbed off the ATV and looked at the bags that were strapped to the back. His fingers fumbled with the bungee cords. Zev’s form shifted and he rolled his shoulders.

“This time? What is there another one anytime soon?”

Akira unhooked the cords and handed a bag to Zev. “Later. Take you bags.” He quickly shouldered his bags only to jump as two of them left his shoulder. “H-hey!”

Star smiled, “Now Akira you need to take it easy.”

The male made a sound and snatched his bags back. “Mine don’t touch!”

Zev sighed as Akira walked off to where the opening to the wolf den was at. “He is really easy to tick off isn’t he?”

“Star…”

“Sorry I couldn’t help picking on him.”

“He’s told me the same thing; he doesn’t want anyone to treat him any different.”

“Okay.” She gave a grin. “I’ll try not to do much teasing.”

“Star…!”

“Now let’s get you two into your new home.”

He walked into the room and glanced around. The room was mostly bare except for a table, chairs, and a couch. Even though the wolf den was made underground the walls were made of wood and there were three skylights. He looked up out the window. The sky was blue and he smiled.

The furniture looked like it was handmade. When he placed his hand on the cushions it was soft. He let his bags fall to the ground and then he stretched out on the couch. “It’s sooo soft.”

“The bed is made the same way.”

“Really?”

Zev started to laugh as Akira rushed into the bedroom of to the side. “Holy shit it is!” Star shook her head and looked at Zev.

“I take it he likes the bed.”

“He mostly sleeps on a futon on the floor.”

“What’s in most of these bags?”

“Akira likes to paint and draw.” He looked at her. “He seems to relax more than at any other time. Well except…”

“I get it!” He gave a grin at the way she cut him off.

“Akira. Where do you want me to place your art stuff?”

Akira walked out; he looked around and then pointed. “Over there.” He sat it in the corner as Akira picked up the other bags up off the floor. “I’ll go put these away I saw a dresser.”

“So you let him do what he wants as long as it doesn’t hurt him.”

“Yes.” He opened the bags and pulled out the folded easels. “We came to that agreement, he knows his own limits. Besides don’t you think if we do it this way he’ll be less stressed? He may not show it but right now he’s worried.”

“All first parents worry. It’s only natural.” She placed the rest of the bags down. “Well I’m going to head out now. I’ve got to report to Levana.”

“Have fun!”

“You too. Oh and please keep Akira from attacking someone who pisses him off. I cannot guarantee he will be okay after the fight.”

“Just make sure they know not to piss him off.” He turned and looked at her. “And if they do something that I don’t like…”

She smiled and nodded. “Ah, now that sounds more like the hot headed Zev we all love and know. I haven’t seen this side of you in years. You’re welcome to explore, just stay out of the marked halls.”

He nodded as she left. The door closed and Akira walked out. “She left?”

“Yeah just now.” Standing up Zev turned to Akira. “So?”

“There are skylights in the bedroom.”

Zev chuckled and shook his head. “You…… Do you want to cover them?” He walked over to Akira and placed his hands on his hips. Leaning over he placed his face in the crook of Akira’s neck. “If you want.” The slim male shivered and pushed his body against Zev. A tongue moved up his neck and then Akira groaned. Fingers grasped at Zev’s clothes. Hot breath ghosted over Akira’s ear as Zev murmured, “What do you want?”

“You in the bedroom with me.” Akira shivered as Zev reached down and grabbed the back of his legs. He lifted him up and Akira wrapped his legs around his waist. “Zev…” They kissed and Akira let his fingers thread into his hair. His mind was too wrapped up in the kiss and all the emotions that were pouring into him. A tongue slipped into his mouth and Akira gave a soft moan. Their tongues tangled together as Zev quickly moved into the bedroom. Sharp canines ran over his tongue, a shiver shook his body. His breath came out in quick pants when they pulled apart. His hands slip away from Akira’s legs and the male was standing.

His eyes watched as the wolf pulled his shirt off. Fingers ran over the freshly healed marks on his chest. “They’ll be gone soon.” Akira leaned forward and kissed one of the marks. “What are you doing?” His shirt came off and followed Zev’s shirt onto the floor. “Nothing…” He pulled Zev down to kiss him again. Their tongues twisted together and fingers tangled in each other’s hair. His fingers slipped further up Zev’s head and grasped a furry ear. A shiver went through Zev’s body followed by a groan. He smirked as Zev pulled his hands away.

“Okay no touching them.”

“Why not?” The brunette leaned closer and ran his tongue over one healed bullet wound. “I know I’m the cause of these… but I can’t remember what happened… I’m scared.” He found himself being engulfed in a hug from Zev. They both fell onto the bed. “Zev…!”

He nipped at the mark on his left shoulder. A grin on his face as Akira gasped, “I like the feel of you pressed against me.”

A tail draped over his waist and Akira sighed as he smiled. Leaning up, he kissed Zev. “I need a smoke…” He gave him that quirky smirk and Zev raised an eyebrow.

“So what do you want me to do?” A grin found its way on his face as Akira sat up. He was straddling Zev now. Fingers ran over the bullet marks. He leaned over and kissed him. Akira shivered when he felt Zev’s hips move up and then hands held his waist.

He gasped out as his hips pushed back against Zev. The look in Akira’s eyes had Zev pulling him back down as a hand slipped up his back over those wing tattoos. “I say we properly break the bed in some more. Sound fun?” Zev matched his smirk with a grin of his own.

Daisuke slipped into the room, the rift closed behind him just as Flare stepped out. “What are we doing here?”

“Meeting up with someone.”

The clouds moved over the moon blocking out the light that was spilling into the room. The door closed and a lock slid into place. “I don’t have much time.” Davion walked over, the older male placed something in his hands.

“Just use this it should fool the system into thinking another one woke up. But it will be closer to here and not Akira.”

“How is Akira?”

“He’s doing fine. The last I heard him and the wolf are bound to each other.”

The blond pouted, “Well damn. Guess I better start looking again.”

“Don’t worry you’ll find someone.”

There was a sound and a black rift appeared, “Go.” The brunette was already in the rift and Flare had jumped in after him. It closed just as the door slammed open. “What the hell is wrong with you?”

The two winged guards froze under Davion’s glare. “But…”

“Get out of my room!” They scrambled out and the door closed. He slumped and sighed. “Damn that was close.” He looked at the small thumb drive.

The old wolf smiled as he picked the chess piece up and placed it down. Akira looked at the bored and picked up his one of his own and moved it. He got a grin from the old wolf as he reach over and tipped his king over. “I surrender, you are a smart boy.” The man in front of him had graying hair and had old but wise golden eyes. “Zev.” Zev looked over from where he was sitting with the younger kids. Half of them were hanging on him. “Pup if you lose this one I’ll whack ya a good one.”

He reached up to pry one of the small kids off of his head. “Don’t plan on it.”

The child giggled and his tail waged as a woman walked over. She bowed her head as she took the child. The small child waved at him and Zev grinned as he waved back. He looked at Akira, “Come on over they don’t bite.”

“I’ll stay here.”

“Aww, come on Akira!”

One of the older kids started in with Zev, “Please!” He scooted back as the other kids quickly joined in. A look of uncertainty crossed his face. “Please Akira!”

The old wolf laughed as Akira sighed, “If you want to get better you might as well learn now.”

He glanced at him and smiled. “I guess you’re right.” Standing he walked over to Zev and sat down. A woman walked over and placed a small little girl in his arms. “Ah…” She moved his arms to better support the child.

“Like this.”

“Thanks Mika.” Mika was a small framed woman. She didn’t stand out like most of the other women in the wolf den. Her hair was short and choppy and it was an earthy brown color. Her dark green eyes were the only thing that stood out on her. The shirt was big on her but the Capri pants fitted her slim body.

“You always helped me Zev. It’s my turn to help out.”

Zev looked at Akira and smiled. His gray eyes watched as the small girl slept. Two fur ears twitched on her head. “She’s got a human parent.”

He looked at Zev quickly caught off by what he said, “Huh?”

“Her ears give her a way. It will be rough for her as she grows up.”

His eyes looked down at her and he felt weird, he was worried. Why was he worried? “Will it be the same?”

“Same for what?” The wolf smiled and leaned over to kiss Akira. “I don’t know. Not all with none wolf parent have the ears and tail.”

“What about you and Nuri?”

“Half vampire half werewolf. Mostly wolf, I learned how to hide them quickly. Most with human in them finally learn how to hide them but now that we don’t have to hide that. It’s not really needed but they still learn just in case.”

“I see.” There was a smile on his face and Akira flushed as he looked away. “I’m not worried.”

“Sure…”

“Stupid dog.”

Zev twitched and glared at him. The glare disappeared when he saw the way Akira looked at the small girl. He couldn’t wait till then. Akira jumped when the small girl sneezed and started to cry. He could see the look of panic as he tried to remember something. He remembered the way Mika was holding on to the other crying children. As he held her with one hand holding her head up and the other under her butt. She moved closer to his neck, “Ack.” The sunlight reflected off the arrowhead around his neck and the small girl suddenly stopped.

The small fingers reached out to grab at the necklace. He blinked as Zev chuckled. “She likes your necklace.”

“Ah… I’m so not ready for this.”

The older wolf gave another chuckle and they looked at him. “No one is ever ready for a big life change.” He stood and nodded to the two. The older wolf ambled away.

“He never told me his name.”

“Don’t worry most of the wolves here call him grandpa.”

The small girl giggled as she pulled on his hair. He hissed and winced as the girl pulled a few strands away from his head. “That hurt.”

Zev chuckled and stood up. “H-hey where are you going?” He looked over at the brunette. A smile slid into place and he walked over to Akira. The two kissed and the little girl giggled as she patted Zev’s cheek.

“I’ll be right back. What anything to eat?”

“Not really. My stomach’s still flipping.” He nodded and walked across the large open cavern. His eyes followed him till he slipped out of the cavern opening. The small child gave a bubbling laugh and squealed as her eyes saw something. He turned and saw a pale haired male talking to Mika. The woman pointed at him and he followed her finger till his gaze rested on him. Nodding he walked over to him.

“I hope she wasn’t too much trouble.”

He shook his head as he stood up. Akira went to hand her to the man but she snagged the arrowhead necklace. “Ack!”

“Hey there you’re going to rip it off.” He gently pulled the girls hand from the necklace. Then he passed the girl to the man. “I’m sorry, she just grabs at everything.”

“It’s okay.” His hand held onto the arrowhead as the man walked away the little girl squealing. They walked down a hall that led to the living areas. He dropped to the ground and rubbed at the back of his head. ‘Damn it. I shouldn’t be worried. Why the hell am I worried?’

Mika walked over to him and smiled. A child hid behind her leg and she smiled at them. “Akira, this is Mace. He wanted to say hi. Well Mace, are you going to say hi?”

Mace looked at him with dark blue eyes. His dark brown hair fell to his shoulders and he was as dark as Zev. “Hi Mace.” The boy blushed and ducked behind Mika.

“He is a shy boy. Give him some time he’ll be talking to you in no time.” She left the two there. The small child jumped when Akira stood. When Akira didn’t come near him he relaxed. He watched as Akira walked over to the chess game. Pushing the pieces off the board and into a box he pulled out another box.

The small child watched as Akira placed black and red pieces on the board. Once Akira sat down he walked over and peeked at the board. “Well?” Dark blue eyes looked at him and he moved till he was opposite Akira. Half his face was hidden beneath the table as he looked at him. Those hands gripped the edge of the table. “If you don’t want to play you can watch.”

The boy pushed the handmade chair closer and sat down. He was still fidgeting. His eyes went from Akira to the board back to Akira and then he would look somewhere different.

Akira fiddled with his necklace and he looked over at the opening to the wolf den. Mace looked at what Akira was looking at. “Uh… Zev will…” His voice died when Akira looked at him. The boy looked down and he started to fidget again, “Um… um… he’ll be… back…”

When dark blue eyes looked up at Akira through dark brown bangs he went red in the face. “I know he will.”

“H-how?”

The brunette couldn’t help but smile as he said the next words. “Just like I know you thought I was a female.”

Mace went red from his hair down to his neck. Then he lowered his head, “I-I’m sorry! It j-just that you were o-on my b-blind side. I-I was g-going by your...um… scent.”

“Blind?” He tipped his head to the side and watched as Mace gnawed on his lip. You could tell the boy had a slight overbite in his canines. Then he finally spoke up.

“Y-yes.” He looked up at him with sad eyes. “S-she didn’t mean to.”

“Hey Mace you’re out of your shell!” The boy jumped at the sound of Zev’s voice. “Relax kid.”

“Z-Zev hi.”

Akira looked at Zev and he shook his head. He’d have to wait to find out about the boy. Zev hugged Akira with one arm as he held something with the other one. “Where’s Star?”

“Um…” he lowered his head as he scratched it. “S-somewhere.”

“You don’t know.”

“S-sorry.”

“Come on, chin up you don’t need to hide your face.” The boy shook his head as he turned away. “Mace is something wrong?”

“I-I saw mother t-today. She tried to… a-attack me again.” He flinched as Zev sighed. “B-but she was fine this morning.” Those small hands twisted into his shirt. “S-s-so… um… y-you’re mad aren’t ya?”

The brunette watched as Zev looked over and then turned to him. “Akira stay with Mace. I’m going to find Star.”

Mace quickly stood up, “No! D-don’t tell her!” Sky blue met dark blue and it looked like the boy had curled in on himself. “S-sorry.” He looked away and hid his face behind the long bangs.

Zev’s eyes soften and grew worried. He felt a hand on his arm. Looking over he found Akira looking at him, “I’ll stay right here.”

“Thanks.” He watched as Zev rushed off to find Star. Once he was gone he turned to look at the boy who was trying to hide from his gaze. His hand reached out and he pushed a game piece forward. “Mace.”

His head jerked up to look at him and he saw what looked like a burn mark on the right side of the right eye. Those eyes looked at him but only one saw him. The younger brunette saw Akira pointing at something and he peered closer.

“It’s your turn. Move a piece.” Dark blue eyes looked from the pieces to Akira back to the game piece. His hand would reach out stop to move back some only to reach back out. He then grabbed a piece and went to move it. The boy stopped and looked at Akira something flickered in those gray eyes and the boy placed the piece down. Akira moved another one of his pieces and asked, “How old are you?”

“Eight.”

“Here I thought you were ten.”

His head shook and then he lowered his head. “Everyone t-thinks that.” The boy’s voice was soft as he spoke. “T-they all w-want me to do some…thing…” and then his voice got softer, “but I can’t. I-I’m too young.”

“Do what you can.” His eye widened when a checker piece moved without Akira touching it. It sat down on a tile on the board. “You can never find your strengths if all you do is hide inside yourself.” An image of a blood covered Zev flickered through his mind. A smile spread across his face. “Shit happens. You just have to find away to overcome it. Your turn.”

He pushed a piece forward. “W-what are you?”

“At one time I thought I was human. But now I’m not… the thing that I am is neither human nor paranormal.” Akira rested his elbow on the table and placed his chin on his hand. “Even the books that my own father has can’t explain what I am.” Another piece moved and the boy was still a little caught off by the movement. “What I’m telling you is to stay between us. Most of the wolves here think I’m human. The much older ones know what I am along with Star. The one thing I don’t get is that how do they know what I am but not the younger wolves.”

The boy pushed a piece forward again. His moves were getting steadier and not second guessing. “T-there is a lot o-of things that the elders hide. They won’t even tell me what happened to my f-father. How old are you?”

“I see. Twenty-three” Another piece moved and the boy went to move one of his pieces when he stopped. “What is it?”

“S-Star is coming.”

“Akira!” The two looked over and he gave a half wave to the woman. Zev was right behind her. “Mace, are you okay?”

He nodded and then Akira spoke up, “It was nice talking to you Mace.” He looked at the board. “We should finish this game later.”

The boy looked at the board and Star gapped at it. Most of Mace’s pieces were still on the board, while Akira had only captured two Mace had captured most of Akira’s pieces. He stood up and Mace smiled. “Okay!”

Star was amazed as the boy stood up and hugged Akira. The brunette was caught off and stood blinking as the boy quickly ran off. Both wolves looked at Akira, “What the hell did you do?”

He blinked, “Huh?”

“Mace doesn’t do that!”

“He never warmed up to me that quick and I met him when Star was at the winter gathering two years ago.”

“We just played a game. He asked questions and I answered.”

When they looked at each other Akira was still confused. “Looks like Zev is being out done by a kid.”

“Shut it Star!”

Akira sighed as he pushed the game pieces into the box and placed the game away. He stood and they grew quite. Zev watched as Akira started to count on his fingers and then smirked. He knew that smirk and soon he was being dragged off. Star waved as she shouted her ‘laters’ after them. She had to go find Mace.

The door closed behind them and Akira sighed. “That boy is a little too jumpy.” He dropped onto the couch and stretched out his legs. ‘Ugh, I hurt.’

“He can’t help it.” Zev grabbed a cup and filled it with water from a jug on a counter. “His father went missing and his mother has gone crazy. Thinks everyone is trying to kill her.” He walked over and handed the cup to Akira.

“Thanks.” He took a drink and looked at the water. “Did his mom do it?”

“Do what?”

“His eye.”

“Yeah.” The wolf was unwrapping a sack when Akira poked his head between his side and his arm. He looked down at the head of brown hair. “What are you doing?”

“Is that rabbit?”

“Yep, caught it myself.” As he chuckled as Akira smiled. “Hey why don’t you go prop one of those windows open. I need to get this cooked.”

Gray eyes looked up at him. “How?”

“Grab a chair and push them up.” He nodded and Zev watched as Akira grabbed a chair. Climbing up he pushed on the window. It opened some of the way. He stood on his tip toes and tried to push again. “Hey you almost have it?”

“Almost.” There was a click and his foot moved forward to far. ‘Shit’ His body jerked and he sighed as the chair clattered to the ground.

“You okay?”

“Yeah.” Zev placed him on his feet. “I’m not going to be doing that again am I?”

“Next time just tell me if you can’t reach.”

“And feel short, hell no!” He kissed Akira on his forehead. Akira pushed his face away, “You’re too tall!”

“Love you, too.” He grabbed Zev’s cheeks and pulled on them. “Ow!” The brunette walked away and dropped onto the couch. He looked at the fuming male as he rubbed his abused cheeks. ‘He’s like a pin cushion.’ A pillow smacked him in the head and he stumbled. “What the hell?!”

“I’m not a pin cushion!”

The look on Zev’s face was one of shock. “You heard that?”

“Yes!”

The wolf sighed at Akira’s pouting face. He walked over and wrapped his arms around Akira’s shoulders. “Sorry, I was wrong you’re more of an angry cat.” His gray eyes darkened and he grabbed the pillow behind him.

“Zev!” He moved away from Akira and the swinging pillow. “Get back over here!”

“I got rabbit to cook.”

“Damn wolf!”

Zev grinned as he caught the pillow. “What do you want? Stew or plain?”

The slim male gave a sigh as he slumped over the back of the couch and gave a mutter. “Stew.” He caught the pillow that was tossed to him. “Hey Zev…” His fingers gripped the pillow as he looked at the ground. “Why me?”

He gave a smile as he started to cut up the food he had laid out. “Why do you want to know?”

Gray eyes looked at his back. The black shirt was big on Zev, it was odd seeing him in a shirt that big. “Because…” he shook his head and looked at the pillow, “I’m not…”

“What?” The knife stilled as he sighed. “You are you. You have an attitude that most find you to be cold and yet you’re able to keep from hurting an innocent person. Under all that coldness is a heart and I’ve seen it. That is one of the reasons I picked you.”

“I hurt you.”

“No you didn’t.”

“The head injury and your hand were because of me.”

The knife started moving again. “So that’s what you remembered.”

“I can’t remember anything else.” His grip tightened on his arms and he gave a sad smile. “Hey who killed Leon?” When Zev didn’t answer he sighed. “I thought…”

“I did.” Gray eyes looked at Zev in shock. The tip of the knife dug into the wooden cutting board, dark blue eyes started at the wooden wall. “It was after you attacked me. He had tried to shoot you and I threw the sword.” The knife moved and pointed at his chest as he spoke. “Right through the heart.” Akira didn’t move as Zev looked at him. That always grinning face was serious and a tad bit scary. “I’ll hunt down anyone who tries to hurt you or my family.” When the wolf turned back to cut the food Akira couldn’t help but smile.

He laid out on the couch and stared up at the ceiling. His gray eyes watched as the trees beyond the skylights rustled. A few leaves drifted into the room through the open skylight. His nose twitched as he smelt something cooking and his mouth watered. Eyes slid closed as he listened to the sounds from the kitchen area. He was comfy and very content.

He didn’t know how long he had been asleep. Hell he didn’t think he fell asleep until he was being woken by Zev. “Hey, food is done.” The brunette rubbed at his face as he sat up. “Come on lunch and then we can go take a nap.”

“Hmmm, sounds…” He gave a jaw cracking yawn and Zev smiled, “fun.”

“I made enough for us to have for dinner too.”

“Okay…”

They sat down at the table and Akira sluggishly ate his food. “Don’t fall asleep it be bad if you landed in the stew.” A growl came from Akira as Zev grinned. He heard the low mutter and twitched, “I’m a wolf damn it!” He glared at the brunette as he gave a sleepy smirk. Zev was caught off by the sudden small kiss. It was on the side of his mouth and then Akira was back to eating his food. Akira found himself being pulled closer and he smiled behind the bowl.

He felt happy as Zev’s leg bushed against his. He didn’t deserve this and yet he was happy. How many of those he had killed had missed out or had moments like these with someone? His sight grew blurry and something wet ran down the side of his face. Sitting the bowl down he began to rub at his eyes. What the hell was wrong with him? “Akira?”

“I’m fine.” He sniffed and then rubbed harder. “I’m happy and yet all those…” Stupid eyes why did they have to start now? A hand rested on his head and pulled him closer to Zev. He turned and buried his face against his chest.

Zev held on to Akira. His body was quivering as he fought to stop the tears. “It’s just us.” After he said those words he heard Akira choke back something and his grip tightened in his shirt. His hand rubbed over Akira’s back as he sat there listening to Akira try not to make a sound. When he finally grew quiet he glanced down to find that he had cried himself to sleep. He buried his face against Akira’s hair and murmured something to him.

After carrying and laying Akira on the bed he walked out to clean up the two bowls. His shirt was wet and yet he didn’t care. He smiled as he placed both empty bowls in a basin. He’ll clean those later. There was a warm body he wanted to snuggle up to. He finally slipped up behind Akira and wrapped his arm around the slim waist. Zev smiled as he pulled him closer, his face pushed against Akira’s hair. The smell of smoke was faint but he could smell something else. He gave a smile.

Akira smell reminded him of a winter breeze. ‘I love you.’

Sorry that last line seems a bit cheesy to me…… but yeah Mace is a sweet heart. *Huggles Mace* I’m so sorry that this is so late life came crashing down and I had a writer’s block out the ass. I hate it. But if I get anything wrong about the whole pregnant thing with Akira I is sorry cause I don’t know squat about it and I have been looking everywhere to help me out. Next chapter I’m hopping over to Rune and Keir to tie it up for them.
