Greetings Loyal and True this is the yearly wrap up. As I sit at my computer I was thinking, I was busy but it was more along the lines of real life than writing life. A tear wells in the corner of my eye and I’ll tell you, DAMN it stings!!! Ok. I’m back now with tissue in hand, well it was in the eye but I don’t need to get that graphic about me. About fishmen and vampires is fine, but me...nobody wants to know that kind of junk.
As I look over my catalogue for 2009, I realize that VES didn’t get any updates. Okay, I did start CIDER but the editing of CAKE got in the way and the transition from the start of the saga to the current plot was frying my little noodle in sesame seed oil. If you are not on my newsletter list, then this might be news for you, CAKE is being published by SL Publishing Group and it has been divided into two novels. (I write too much – grin). There looks like a snag will make us miss the February 2010 release date. I hope the delay will not be too long. Yes, it was me. Damn technology. But there will be CAKE and the second part, working title, CINDER will be coming out soon.
MY TRUE LOVE – Ripley’s view of the pod. Two chapters only but it does tie in the fey to the next story line in CIDER.
THAT’S WHAT BROTHERS DO – My second KiixinK publishing venture. E-book sales are about 10 to 1 to print but that is fine. I’ve sold over 150 books, which may not be record worthy but that’s more than just having it sitting on my computer. I came in 3rd in the Contemporary Novel category of the 2009 Rainbow Awards which is for Gay and Lesbian literature. Based on this, a publisher has approached me about taking over my book and getting it on the bookshelves across America. Hi-5! My only snafoo is I can’t find the word files. I am freaking out. I have the pdf proof but I don’t know if they can work with it. I’ll keep you updated.
HOW DO I WRITE? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! – it continues...slowly but I’m up to 51 chapters. Holy Moly!
THE DESSERT CART – I keep saying I want to publish this but other stories keep getting in the way. I will make a definite effort to get this moving this year. I even have wonderful fan art from FAWNHEART. I want to use SEX as the cover. Yummy.
CHIMERA – fishsticks. I have no idea where the hell this came from. It rather wrote itself. I love those stories that do that. I don’t have to think. What do they call that? Automatic Writing – where a spirit takes over your body. If that’s true, I’m attracting hentai. Like attracts like I guess. Hahaha. There will be a book two but not until CAKE is published.
SONGS FROM THE DARK JUKEBOX –Now as I said, this was not yaoi fluff. It turned out to be dark, dark stuff. I rather like it. Short and dirty. There might be more additions to this when I get the urge to write and I can’t start another *ahem* epic novel.
NEKO-LAUS – 2009 Nanowrimo project based on a short story from Songs from the Dark Jukebox – Back in Black. This was just to prove that I still got it. It had felt like I hadn’t written anything in months so taking on the challenge of writing 50,000 in 30 days came at the write time. TOY TIGER is kicking around my muse...I’ve got the opening line but I really can’t start anything new until CAKE is done.
CLOVED CHIMERA – an attempt at writing in 3rd person. Holy Moly batman, you have no idea how frickin’ difficult that was. I haven’t written as all knowing all seeing omnipotent since....well forever. I couldn’t get into Mem’s or Quinlan’s head. It was an offering and I hope that the Loyal enjoyed it.
MY HOSTAGE: MY LOVE – as you know, SL Publishing Group picked this short story for monthly serialization. I have expanded it and fleshed it out over the year and now it is done. When it was in first draft it was just under 50,000 words. It is at 100,000 words now so it’s safe to say that it’s doubled in size. It’s a novella. I think I can shop it around but it’s my usual dark angsty violent bit so I am expecting the usual rejections. I might just skip that and do the self-publishing route right away. I already have cover art. What to do...what to do...
THE HAND THAT FEEDS – I am going to pull this off of AFF.net and bring it over to be my new monthly serial for SLPG subscriptions. I am going to force myself to work on it. That’s so mean to say it, but damn, I’ve got the ending and I just can’t get to it. If I make this my contractual obligation, I will have to push out two chapters a month.
So, my plans for 2010. Well to see CAKE finally get published. Big goal there. I also have a contract with SL publishing group to bring TENTECALS FOR THE BRIDE’S BOUQUET now called HEART OF THE SATYR to print as well. I hope that this will be later in the year, after CINDER.
Not that I’m turning this into a let’s all praise SLPG rant, but they do have a free forum you can join and I have my own Q&A section there. I get notified when something gets posted. Right now, I’m talking to myself but it’s an enjoyable conversation. Hahahaah.
