“Akira, wake up!”
Pale gray snapped open and slowly became stormy gray. He gasped as he sat up. His hands pulled the shirt off and his chest was normal. There were no marks. Nothing. He blinked when he heard the sounds coming from behind a door. His feet touched the ground and he stopped. Something was wrong here.
His eyes looked at his arm, “Why am I always cuffed to a damn bed!?”
Akira could hear the sounds. He wanted to know what was happening. Fingers gripped at the cuffs. He tried everything to get them off. Damn things had to be the new cuffs they gave out to cop. His eyes narrowed as he thought about it. Damn him. He was going to kill Raith.
Turing back to the door he strained his hearing so he could find out what was going on. Shaking his head he growled as he heard nothing but the muffled sounds. “Hey!” He reached for the door. “Hey can anyone hear me?” It grew quiet. Then he heard it. There was a beeping sound that drifted into the room. “Hello?”
Another door opened and he turned towards it. “Mitch.” He gave sighed and asked. “What’s going on?”
“I need you to answer one question.”
“What is it?”
“What’s the last thing you remember?”
He looked around at the room. It was a small room; it had a hospital bed and a small window. The lights were off and he blinked. Okay he could see in the dark but not this well. “I… where am I?”
“In the hospital. Karen said to put you in here. Answer the question.”
He placed his hand on his chest. “Here. I remember feeling pain right here like I was punched. Then black.”
“I see.” Walking over, he unlocked the cuffs. Mitch placed a sack on his bed, “Some clean clothes. Karen wants to see you; you’ve been out for three days.”
“Three?”
“Yes.”
He watched as Mitch left the room. Walking over he flicked the switch on. The light made him wince and lowered his head. “Damn…”
“Give them a while you’ll be able to see soon.” The brunette jumped and turned to the corner to his left. “Yo.” His dad was lounging in the chair his hat in his lap. The wild black brown hair stuck out at random angles as always.
“What do you want?”
“Hmmm… is that all you remember?”
“Yes. Why the hell do you look like you just rolled out of bed?”
“Maybe because I did. Hawk was watching you; see came to get me when you finally woke up.” He gave a yawn. “Mmmm… chair is comfy.” His eyes drooped and Akira banged his hand against the wall. Daisuke jumped and glared at him, “What the hell you trying to give me a heart attack!?”
“Cut the shit why are you here?”
“Damn can’t I see if my own son is okay? I was up for two days straight.” He stood and stretched. “Will you quit staring me down; you should get in some less holey clothes. I want to know what the doctor found out.”
“What do you mean?”
“Oh she drew some blood while you were sleeping.” He saw Akira give a very visible twitch and chuckled. “She wants you to hear it first.”
“Zev… was he in here?”
Daisuke hands stopped trying to fix his hat. Black eyes moved to look at him, “Impossible, Zev’s been in a coma for the last three days.”
It felt like someone had punched him and he turned away. “H…how?”
Those eyes watched him and he sighed, “You’ll find out. He’s through that door right there.” Akira glanced at the door as Daisuke turned to leave. “I’ll go find Mitch now.” When the room door clicked shut Akira’s legs gave out and he dropped to the floor.
The beeping that came from the room seemed to echo in the smaller one. He was on his feet and moving for the door.
Rune was out of his seat when the door opened. Before Akira could get into the room he was being pushed back out. “Hey!”
“No, get dressed and go talk to Karen.”
“I want to see Zev!”
“You just woke up!”
“Please…!”
“I’m sorry I told Mitch I wouldn’t. Go see Karen.” He closed the door and Akira was able to catch a small glimpse of the matted black hair. It was shorter. The door closed and he felt a hand on his chest. “Zev exhausted himself the other day. Keir said he’ll be up either tonight or tomorrow night. The full moon is tomorrow so he’ll definitely be up then.”
“But…”
“Go see Karen; I’ll come get you if he wakes.” The smile on Rune’s face made him look away. “He’s fine Karen said he’ll pull through. He’s a tough wolf that’s for sure.”
Rune hugged him and Akira stiffened. When the small male let go he pat Akira on the shoulder. “Sorry forgot you’re not a hugging type of person. But you looked like you really needed one.”
The door closed and Akira reached out. His hand stopped and he sighed.
Mitch looked up to see Akira standing in the doorway. “Come on, before you decide to bolt.”
“Is he really in a coma?”
“A drug induced coma.”
“Oh.”
“He’ll be fine.”
They walked down the hall. It was quiet. There was no one around, doors were closed and you could tell no one had been in there. “Where…?”
“This is where Karen works. She is a family doctor to a lot of wolves. So this whole wing is under her and her son and daughter’s care. There are a select few from families that she cares for that work here. Well the ones that want to become a doctor or nurse.”
“So…”
“You should of seen her fight back the other doctors.” He looked back at Akira and smiled. “She also told a couple of them off for trying to come down here, too. It’s a good thing you’re part of Zev’s family now. I heard about what happened that night and day that followed.”
He looked down. “Yeah.”
“Cheer up, he’ll be alright. Besides Karen won’t tell me anything till you hear it first. So we have to get there.”
“Why is everyone bent on finding out?”
“Because of the way she reacted when you came in.”
“Who…?”
“Zev, he collapsed right after she said you were okay. Stupid idiot was hiding the pain.”
He stopped at a door and opened it. “Is Akira with you?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you wait outside while I talk with him?”
“Man and here I was hoping to find out.” He turned to Akira, “Well… have fun!” The grin on his face made him wary.
“Idiot, don’t say that with a fucking grin.”
Akira sat in a chair as the clock ticked. He kept his head down the whole time. Karen was finishing up with some files and she couldn’t help but let a smile slip. The poor boy was a nerve wreck. She closed the files and slid them to the side as she picked up two.
“Akira.”
He looked up.
“We can do this two ways.” She held up the two files. “One. You can look at yours and tell Zev when he wakes up.” The woman caught the way he flinched a little. “Or two. You can look at his and wait so I can show you both.”
Gray eyes looked at both folders.
Mitch and Daisuke where looking through the large window. They watched as Akira said something and Karen smiled. “What do you think he picked?”
“Zev. He’s more worried about Zev. Rune told me how he tried to force his way into the room. Not to mention he needs to find some clues as to what happened.”
Daisuke pulled his hat down, “Good thing that bruise went away.”
“You talking about the part where he was knocked out by Zev?”
“Yeah, would of done it myself if the boy hadn’t jumped in the way.”
“Do you think he’ll remember?”
“Matter of time.” He rubbed his neck. “I’d prefer if he didn’t. But then he wouldn’t be aware of that part of himself.” He pushed away from the wall. “Well, I’ve got some things to do.”
“Like?”
“They saw it. Tito sent me a warning last night. It’s best if he vanished by this week’s end.”
“For how long?”
“Long enough.”
The door opened and Akira held something out to the two, “Don’t tell me what’s in it, and don’t show me this till Zev wakes up.” They both watched as he walked down the hall.
“Akira!” The brunette turned and Daisuke motioned towards his back. “Don’t forget!”
He gave him a bored look, “Don’t get your ass kicked.”
“Tch, little brat!” He turned to look at Mitch and raised an eyebrow at the look on his face. “What’s going on?” He handed him the folder as he watched Akira’s back. Black eyes went from looking at Mitch to the folder. “What’s so shocking about…?” His eye twitched, “What the hell! That not possible.”
“It would explain the symptoms he’s been having.”
The door to Zev’s room opened and he found a nurse looking at him. The teen smiled as she looked at him. “Well it’s good to see one of you up. How are your wings?”
“How?”
“They were out when you came in.”
“Did anyone see?”
“Only those who work in this wing.” The teen went back to swapping out the IV. “He was so worried about you when he carried you in. Almost gave himself away. He ran all the way up here, you wouldn’t believe the commotion he caused trying to find my mom.”
“Karen?”
“Yes, I’m the youngest.” She had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. “My sister and brother are doing some house calls so I’m helping mom out.” Turning she pulled the blanket up a little more. “He should be waking soon.”
“What did he look like?”
Her smile was soft as she turned to him. “For a wolf it wasn’t bad, if he was human it would have been a problem.” The way he lowered his head had her worried she said something wrong. “Uhh… I’m sorry I’ve helped out a lot but this isn’t my expertise. I prefer to work on cars then this but I need the money and with the way things are going we’re lucky to even have people come in here.”
He nodded and she smiled, “Well I’ll leave you two alone.” She got to the door and stopped. “Oh by the way I’m Ellie so if you need me just shout out for me.” Ellie stood there looking at him. “Keep a tight hold on this one. You two are cute together.”
He went red in the face, “Jeez…”
“Well, bye now.” The door clicked shut and he walked over to the bed.
Zev was sleeping peacefully. “I’m sorry.” He didn’t know why he said it, he felt like he needed to say it. “I’m so sorry.” Sitting on the edge of the bed he watched him. That chin length black hair was now as short as the first time they met. Flipping the file opened he looked over the writing.
There was a bandage wrapped around his head, a pad of gauze over a spot on his forehead. Ht had come in with multiple wounds, two were from gunshots and the rest was unknown. What had happened? He hung his head as he placed his hand on his forehead. His teeth gritted together as he fought back the emotions. His vision blurred and he stood up.
Drawers opened and closed as he looked through them. He saw the light reflect off of something and he snagged the item. Opening the bathroom door he clicked the light one. He was looking at himself in the mirror. He tipped his head to the side and looked at the scissors.
Marianela walked into the room and called out. “Yuki! I brought some food!” She saw the bathroom door opened and walked over. “Damn it Yuki I thought I told you to let me do that.”
He jumped and hissed as he got his finger instead. Putting the cut finger in his mouth he gave her a scowling look. Her hand was out and he sighed. “I can cut it myself.”
“When you do cut it your hair always looks uneven.”
He sat on the edge of the tub. His feet were resting in the water that she had run into the tub. “I’m not some little kid.” She pushed his head forward and started to fix the uneven parts. You could see the red highlights in the brown as she cut away the dark brown.
“I’m surprised he didn’t say anything about your hair color.”
“Who?”
“Daisuke.” The snipping of the scissors filled the quiet room for a few minutes.
“What happened?”
“Hmmm?”
“Three days ago, what happened?”
“It happened too fast all I remember was fighting and then Ransom was carrying me out of the arena.” She smiled. “He wasn’t happy when the doctor got done with the x-rays.”
He turned around, “What happened?” Gray eyes rested on the brace her wrist was wrapped in. Akira hadn’t seen it because of the coat she was wearing. “Maria what happened?”
“Don’t worry it’s only a sprain.” She waved it off and turned his head. “I’m still allowed to use it. I just have to take it easy. No heavy lifting and all that stuff.” The snipping started up. “I’ve got a couple of bruises but don’t tell Ransom he’ll flip.”
“And I won’t?”
“You would after I finished telling you everything. He starts complaining and whining about how you’d kick his ass. But you wouldn’t do that. He still took care of me and got me out when it got bad.”
“Yeah.”
“Is he still sleeping?”
“……yeah.” Something wet dripped onto the back of his hand and he whipped at his face. “Fuck.”
Her hand patted his back and he shook his head. “It’s just us Akira; you don’t have to hold it in.”
“He’s hurt and I’m sitting here without a scratch. I should have three holes in me, the wounds from then should still be there and I shouldn’t even be able to get up.”
“Yes you should be still hurt but you’re not. Something caused that healing ability to start working again. What? I don’t know.” Marianela smiled and hugged him as he rubbed at his face. “I’m just glad my brother is safe.”
“I want him to wake up already.”
“He’ll wake up soon, unlike you who took a whole month.”
He rolled his eyes and she stood up, “Well hair is done, you still got some dark brown here and there. But most of the color is returning. They had wash most of it out along with the matted blood. Zev’s was worse they had to cut off what didn’t wash out.”
“So you were here.”
“I was sitting next to the door watching you and Zev.” She reached over and turned the faucet on. Akira stood and pulled his shirt off and tossed it on the floor. “He was in pain. They couldn’t get the bullets out. There was a seal on them that caused paranormals great pain. Mitch found a way to remove the bullets, but it will take longer to heal the wounds because of the bullets.”
He sighed as he knelt and let the water run over his hair. The blond looked at him and smiled as he sat back down on the tubs edge. The water dripped down his back and along his face. “He suffered because of me.”
“No he was willing to put up with the pain because he wanted to save you.”
He sighed, “Same difference. He’s still a stupid wolf.”
She sat next to him, her back to the tub. “So why did you cut your hair?”
“I’m thinking of leaving. See if Zev wants to go along.”
“Where are you going?”
“Somewhere far.” Green eyes looked at him. “Away from the city.”
“When?”
“Soon.”
He still sat there when she left. His hair was dry and his back hurt from being slumped over. His body felt relaxed. Too relaxed. He hadn’t smoked in forever and yet he was relaxed. Akira smiled and then sighed as he held his head. “Stupid.” He was really stupid.
Ellie pushed the door opened and walked in. It was time to replace the IV drip. She walked over to the bed and stopped. A smile worked its way on her face. The brunette was laying on his side next to Zev. His head was resting on the same pillow as Zev. One arm was holding onto Zev’s hospital shirt. She moved as quietly as she could and changed the drip. There was a sound and she looked over to see the brunette sitting up.
He rubbed at his eyes with the palm of his hands and yawned. “You hungry?” Glancing over he saw Ellie.
“I can get it.”
“You sure he can wake any minuet.”
“I’m sure.” He slipped off the bed and stretched his body. She watched as the slim male walked out of the room.
There was a weak chuckle and she looked down. “You’re awake.”
“Yeah… couldn’t wake him…”
“Is he like that all the time?”
“He doesn’t like… people touching his food.”
“Oh you mean he doesn’t trust people with his food.”
“Bingo.”
She couldn’t help but let out a laugh. They both looked at the door that connected to Akira’s room. “I’ll go check on that.” Walking over to the door she pushed it opened and stumbled back. “What the hell?” Toby caught the front of her shirt.
“S… sorry.” He looked over at Zev. “I came here to talk to Akira. I heard some things about Leon in the underground world.”
“Leon is dead…”
“I know I saw the whole thing.”
“Then what are you doing here?” Zev’s eyes dropped and Toby quickly sat Ellie on her feet. “Akira stepped out… food…” His eyes closed and he was sleeping once again.
“The pain meds are taking affect he’ll sleep for the rest of the night.” Ellie brushed the front of her shirt off. “If you want you can wait for Akira over there.”
“Sorry about the door thing.”
“I wasn’t expecting someone to come out of nowhere.”
“Sorry.”
The door opened and Akira looked up. A bag of chips was in his hand. “Toby, what are you doing here?”
“Um… can we talk in the other room?”
“Why?” He made a motion to Ellie who was checking on Zev. “Okay.”
“Oh, he woke up for a few minutes. He’ll be awake tomorrow the pain meds will keep him asleep for the next eight to twelve hours.”
He nodded at Ellie. “Thanks.” He walked into the room and closed the door. “What is it?”
“It’s about Leon.”
Akira locked the door and leaned against it. “What about?”
“He got a hold of some poison that was made by Abner.” He wrung his hands. “And I got more on Abner. Its deep man, I mean so deep it’s as big as the sea.”
“How far?”
“All I know is that it’s a rumor, but he’s been seen with Diter.”
“I should of killed the fucker.”
“Yeah well apparently Abner’s been working with Diter’s old man. They, Abner and Diter, have been seen together, in more ways than one.” Akira shivered at the thought. “Why the hell did you think of it?”
“I didn’t that made my skin crawl.”
Toby chuckled and then leaned forward, “How old is that girl in there?”
“Like I know.”
“Figured you’d pick something up, she’s got demon in her scent.”
“Why don’t you just talk to her?” He unlocked the door and opened it. The girl tumbled into the room. “Why, what do we have here?”
“Hehe hey can’t blame me. Just wanted to know what’s going on.” She pushed herself up and brushed off her clothes. “Well I’m going to go now. I’ll be at the desk down the hall. If you need anything.” The door to Zev’s room closed and Akira looked at Toby.
“How long will it take you to swallow your fear and ask?”
“What the hell we just met.”
“You know what I mean.” He walked over to the door and looked out it. “Well time to leave.”
“Wha…?”
“Out.”
“But!”
“Find Mitch he can give you a place to hide out at.” Toby walked out sulking. “Night.”
The door closed on his face before he could say anything else. He sighed and then rubbed the back off his neck. Walking down the hall he stopped as he looked at the desk. Ellie was talking to another woman and he smiled. “I guess I could stop by tomorrow.”
^^^^
Akira felt a hand on his head and cracked an eye open. “Mmmm… Zev… too early.”
“You have got to be the only person I know who will share a bed this small.”
“You’re not complaining.” He pushed himself up and leaned over Zev. His fingers ran over the bandage on his head. “They had to cut your hair.”
“Now you’re complaining.”
“How do you feel?”
“Like shit. How the hell did he have those bullets is a mystery.”
“He was working with Diter.”
“Great.”
He reached over and picked up the file. “On another note, you are to be on bed rest for the next few days unless you heal over tonight. Which I can’t stay tonight.” He settled on the bed next to Zev as he flipped through the file.
“And I agree.”
“I seemed to remember something happening on the last full moon.” He gave his quirky smirk and Zev chuckled. “Hmmm, so I wasn’t dreaming.”
His fingers ran along Akira’s back and then slipped up under his shirt. “I’d be pissed if that was a dream.”
Those fingers slipped up higher and Akira shivered. He looked over his shoulder, “Enjoying yourself?”
“Yes.” He hooked his fingers in the shirt and pulled him back down next to him. “How about you? Are you okay?”
“Yes.” Blue eyes looked at him. “Besides the fact I can’t remember shit. I’m fine.” He laid his head on Zev’s shoulder. “But I feel like shit because of it. I want to, but something tells me not to.” Rolling over he sighed. “Damn it. I did something didn’t I?”
“All that matters is that everyone is alive.”
“What about you?”
“I’m breathing.” Akira sighed and leaned over to look at him. “What?” He grabbed his face and looked him in the eyes. “No you don’t.” The wolf pulled his hands away and shook his head. “You’re not going to try it. You’ll just make it worse.”
He frowned and sat back, “Argh, fine I give!”
“I wonder how long you sat here trying to find out what happened.”
“All night.”
He sighed and shook his head, “Give up!”
“Like hell.” The brunette pulled on his cheeks. “You know what happened and I want to know!”
“Ow I’m injured!”
“Not your cheeks.” He let go and slid off the bed. “Stupid dog.” A pillow smacked him in the head and he fell over. Picking the pillow up he looked over his should at Zev. “A pillow?”
“Yes a pillow.”
“Stupid.”
“Stupid?”
“Yes.”
Zev’s eye twitched and he grinned, “I’m not as tall as my mother.” Akira lowered his head and his fingers tightened on the pillow. He looked up a smiled on his face.
He flinched and ducked as Akira moved to toss the pillow. When it didn’t hit he looked over to see Akira had froze. “Akira?”
“Damn…” The hand gripped the blade, blood dripped down both of their arms. The knife blade was yanked away, a downward slash and then lunge. He didn’t get far when hands grabbed a fist full of hair and the knife wielding arm. “Akira! Don’t let it win!”
The color drained from his face as he walked out of the room. “Akira?”
“I’m fine.”
“Bullshit you just went as white as this damn blanket.”
“I’m fine.” The water turned on and he splashed his face. ‘What the hell… was that?’ His hand covered half his face as he shook his head.
His eyes widened as he looked up at the mirror. The hand was reaching out of the mirror. He stepped back as it got closer. Soon the head was almost out. His back hit the wall. That grin scared the shirt out of him. He couldn’t move as it lunged at him.
Zev jerked and cursed. His whole body screamed from the pain. “…Akira?” Mitch was in the room, “He’s in the bathroom.”
“Akira?”
Akira was next to the tub his face buried against his legs. His hand touched Akira’s shoulder and he jumped when Akira grabbed his arm. “Hey calm down it’s only me.”
“Is he alright?”
“Yeah I think he was sleepwalking.”
“Akira sleepwalks?”
“It’s very rare but he does.” There was a curse and he looked out of the bathroom. “Ah, hey get back in bed!”
The wolf pushed past him and limped into the bathroom. “Akira?” When Akira pulled further away Zev sighed. “Hey…” His fingers brushed over his shorter hair.
Gray eyes looked at him. “Zev… what are you doing up?”
“Uh… just now. What the hell are you shouting for?”
“Um…” He rubbed his head. “I… can’t…” He shrugged and slowly stood up. “What the hell are you doing out of bed?”
“You scared me when you shouted.”
“Well I’m fine. Now get your ass in bed.”
He started to push him out of the bath room. “H-hey!”
Mitch watched as Akira pushed him out. He stopped for a few seconds in front of the mirror and shook his head. It was soft but he heard the mumbled words, “Must be tired…”
Once Zev was sitting on the edge of the bed Akira pointed, “Lay down.”
“No, I’m tired of laying down.”
The door opened and Karen walked in, “Morning everyone. It’s good to see you awake Zev. Well I’ve found out what’s wrong.”
“I’m going to leave now.” Mitch rushed out of the room and the two looked at the closed door.
Karen looked at the two and asked, “What was that about?”
“I let him see it but told him not to tell me.”
“I see.” She sat down and pulled out a file. “I’m going to let you see this first.”
The file was past to Akira, he flipped it open. “You have all the same qualities as a human so it was hard trying to figure out what had been altered and what was the same. Plus getting a hold of the files from all the other doctors was hard.” Akira looked at her from over the file. “Once I got them…”
“They still have everything?”
“Yes, but it helped me out. I was able to find out about the way your body breaks down all poisons and most medicines. I also figured out that something has changed since the test from when you were eighteen.” His grip on the file tightened. A hand rested on his shoulder.
“What changed?”
“Between the last one and the one I got of you the first day here, one thing has changed.” She grew quiet. “And well it looks like… well… you may be pregnant.”
There was loud rip. He looked at her as if she had just sprouted a second head. The half ripped file slid out of his hands. Zev leaned over and sniffed Akira, “Well know that I think about you do smell…”
He growled as he turned to look at Zev, “Don’t you say it!”
“But you do!”
“No I don’t! And why the hell are you so calm!?”
He shrugged, “With what’s happened so far I’d have to say this is not so bad.” The brunette glared at him.
There was a knock on the door and then it opened. “Did we miss it?”
“Star!”
“Well damn Zev did you get in a tussle with a hell cat or something!”
“Maybe…” He made a motion behind Akira for her to leave it alone.
“Tell me about it later yes?”
“I’ll think about it.”
Akira looked at her, “We?”
“Yep, Levana you can come in.”
Karen stood up when the white wolf walked in with another person following her. “Akira you’re looking a bit pale there.”
“Who are you three?”
Zev waved at her, “Their friends, that’s Star she is part of the council and Levana is the High Wolf. She’s the oldest living wolf known.” He looked at the other person and grinned. “It’s Lobo.”
“What?”
The white haired male stood half behind Levana. He gave a slight wave. The male was taller than Levana and had two ears and a tail. He was in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt. “H-hi.” One ear was flopped over and his canines seemed to poke out under his lip.
Akira nodded to him and looked at Levana “What brings you here?”
“Already with the questions.” She sat down in one of the chairs. “Every question your thinking right now is true.”
“So…” He made a motion at himself and she nodded. “How?”
“It was a long shot. One that took awhile. I had this all planed out since the first time I saw Zev.” She held her hand up before Zev could open his mouth. “The vial you took is what caused this to happen. I thought it would fail but then after you took it I knew it would work.”
“What about the pain that Akira was in? That’s not normal in a…”
“His body was trying to fight off the unknown substance. That caused the pain and the fact his body isn’t really cut out to carry children.”
“I’m never taking something from you without knowing what it is.”
“Yes but this way it happens sooner than later.”
“Huh?” They all looked at Zev. “What do you mean later?”
“About twenty-five years from now a discovery would be made, five years later Zev will end up convincing Akira here to try it out. That is when. But the only difference is that Akira wouldn’t be carrying the child.”
“Then why not then?”
“Because it will be fifteen years too late.” She stood and walked over to a water pitcher. Her hand waved over it. “The bomb that went off, it was the first domino that was knocked over. Every event that happens from then is the next domino being knocked over.” A small sphere floated out of the pitcher. “The world is already split with the reappearance of paranormals. News of the bomb has spread it is only a matter of time before…” she poked the sphere of water and it splashed back into the pitcher of water, “the world falls apart.”
Akira shook his head, “I… I can’t be a parent I don’t know the first thing!”
“Akira you shouldn’t doubt yourself. You can take on things twice your size and yet your worried about raising kids.”
“Do you realize that I’m a missing if anyone hears about me having a kid…?”
“You will stay with Star till everything is safe. Then afterwards you can come back.”
He nodded and sighed, “Fine. It will also solve that one issue with that prick.”
Zev grinned and then yelp when Akira tugged on his ear. “What!?
“Stop being so damn calm.”
“Actually I think he’s excited.” Star snickered as Zev looked where she was pointing.
“Damn tail!”
Karen sighed and then added, “First we have to get rid of this, and Akira seems to have helped me with this.” She picked up the damaged file. “I don’t need someone finding out about this.” The woman stopped at the door and turned to them. “I’m not involved from here on out. I’ve only seen you because you are Zev’s mate.”
The door closed and Akira sighed. “I am so not ready for this.”
“You will be leaving this weekend.” Star said to him as she walked over to Levana. “Should we go?”
“Yes, we have a lot to do.”
“Bye bye.”
“Good bye Zev. Akira.” Lobo waved at them as he closed the door.
“Zev.”
“Hmmm?”
He looked at him, “Am I ready for this?”
“One step at a time Akira.” The wolf pulled him close and smiled at him. “Everything will be fine. As long as we’re breathing everything is fine.”
