Drago-licious

This is actual email between the Loyal and myself. The formating is such that you must start at the bottom and read the entries up. Yes, I was lazy + I got a bitching headache right now. Hiiissssss, the light, she burns....hiiiiisssss.

Hi! I think it was you who asked a question about Drago -- I hope otherwise ignore this.
******* was going to attempt a drawing but this was way back in OCT so go ahead if you would like to try. I LOOOOVVVVEEEE fan art.

I used the image on page 3 as my Chimera tail. Since this is a huge attachment, I'll send the OGN as another email. I checked and the mermaid is in vol 6. I liked the gills of the dragon but I would like they to fold back into the neck when they are not in use.

Enjoy 'taste of posion". [Referring to scanlation by Countless Times “dokunoaji” manga by Boura Naono]

sure I don't care. I went through the scans of Okane Ga Nai that I have (i have up to vol 5) but was unable to find a mermaid scene. would you be willing to send me the image? and you have a sea god manga by Naono Bohra? Is it a scanlation? and if so, can I have it? oh pretty please. well, really, a copy of it, I wouldn't just demand that you give it me. that would be kinda rude. anyway, getting off subject.

I found some pictures, trying to give myself some ideas on how drago looks, am i going in the right direction? on the dragon, i'm looking at the fin/sail thing

Hi!
I am a firm believer in *signs*. Usually if something keeps popping up at least three times over a short span, I’m supposed to do something with it. Its a little touch of something, I’m sure it is. Ha!. Any way, There was a mermaid in the last scanlation of Okane Ga Nai, a god of the sea in another manga by Naono Bohra – sort of used the tail a bit, and Ariel from the Little Mermaid. These damned images were following me around for a while and finally I sat down and started writing something which turned into Chimera.

Having Drago in his Chimera form would be very very tasty.

Drago in Chimera form is about nine feet long from the tip of his head to the end of his fin/sail. His upper body is narrow but defined, sort of whip cord lean. (David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust) His torso remains human-ish but for a row of gill slits behind his ears and the nails on the ends of his fingers have turned into black thick straight talons. (somewhat like a box turtle – for spearing fish) His eyes still have the white,(don’t want to make him too fishy) but the iris is now varying shades of gold from white to dull. His skin is mottled (something like a brindle on a dog or cat) with varying shades of moss green, hunter green, navy blue and aquamarine.

His hair would be a little lighter than his skin. I’m thinking more sage green, with gold highlights. (He is “Prince of the Sea” after all)

I had envisioned skin down to the hips but I like that ‘love trail’ image. Almost like glitter turning into scales that get larger and thicker as it moves down his body almost like you run your finger down and smudge two images together.

Damn, I thought I had the picture of that tail on my jump drive. I’ll have to send it as an attachment. He swims more like a snake or alligator than a dolphin.

Ooh, ooh, he has teeth like a piranha – so I don’t think there will be much smooching in his future.
Unlike Darryl Hannah’s mermaid, if he just gets wet, he doesn’t change back into the sea dragon exotic. He actually has to drown – he still has functioning lungs. They had to stop working for his gills to kick in so the changes from human to dragon and vice versa are very traumatic and painful.

One of the Loyal mentioned that “Drago” means dear one in Slavic. I just shortened Dragon by loosing the n so this was rather fortuitous that it means something. I’m thinking that having a sea dragon/man in a land locked country would make him more valuable and while this is fantasy, it’s going to be something like Poland . Lord Jareth would come from somewhere like Finland to keep some little ties to the merman mythos.

So, I hope this helps.

Mind if I share this on How do you write?

Later,
Kiix

well, first, do you have a picture of the dragon that you based Drago off of? it would help a lot with trying to correctly depict his fins. And would you rather have him drawn as his Chimera or as the human? (well, human after he was made a chimera).

The scales start under his rib cage, but do they more like outline his last rib then go down in a “line” to his hips then spread to cover his tail? (kinda like human men have that love trail of hair down to their groin, only they’re scales that fallow the outside of his abdominal muscles?) Or do they cover his entire abdomen in a light dusting of scales? And is his human upper body flesh toned or ocean-toned? What shades of green is he? (like his hair). Or do you really not care much either way. I know that when I write, I generally have a specific look for characters already stocked in my brain. And to give me an idea of what body type he would have, if he were born on Earth, what culture would he more closely resemble? (French, German, Spanish. That kinda thing). Just to warn you though, It's been a while since i've had a muse, so it may take me a bit of time to get Drago done. When you said you wanted a portrait of Drago, I was like, that would be an interesting challange to take up. I've never done a part man part animal before. only one or the other.
