Fourth Chapter- Concentration
“Well,” said Fire, “I think I’ll be leaving now. I don’t really want to stick around for the rest of this ‘act’. So, I’ll see you tomorrow night.” Fire got up out of her chair and headed toward Ice Fire’s exit.
“You sure you don’t want to stick around and have a drink with me or something?” Rider tried to persuade her to stay even though he knew once her mind was made up there was no changing it. So, knowing his efforts were futile he just sort of half-smiled at her.
“No, thanks. I think I’ll leave you to the ladies, Rider. Besides, I have some business to deal with,” with that she turned and left the club without so much as a backward glance.
He was going to have to figure out this girl, and soon because somewhere in his mind and maybe even in his heart he knew that he needed her. Not wanting to think about that any longer, Rider decided to do exactly as Fire has said. He was going to find himself some ladies and maybe he’d actually have some fun so long as his mind wasn’t set on that huge flame.
Okay, play first, think later, Freeze thought. Play first, think later, play first, think later, play first, think later……..boy, he could think of some things he’d like to play. DAMNIT! Now’s not the time to be thinking about finding Lady Aphrodite, Freeze scolded himself.
His set was almost up and he figured it to be somewhere around 1:30. He’s seen her talking with his brother earlier and was curious as to what she had said. He also wanted to know exactly HOW well she knew his brother. Freeze knew it was very likely that this wonder girl had known his brother extremely well. He had been able to get practically any girl he wanted, and though it had sounded very high and mighty it was very very true. His brother had been the same way (where else do you think he was going to learn it from?), so maybe Rider and this girl had………….
Alright! He WAS NOT going to think about this. Maybe he should revise his chant: no thinking, no playing, just work, no thinking, no playing, just work……..this was going to have to work for the next 15 minutes or his mind was going to cross the line from safe to very unsafe.
Walking towards the big, black building, Fire was ready for what she knew would come. When she opened the door all she saw was dark. So she moved stealthily through it until she found the elevator doors and entered. Fire pushed the button for the eighth floor and rode slowly but surely up to that floor.
Stepping out of the elevator she was met by a tall man drenched in all black clothes. The only color she saw on him was coming from the silver gun he held in his left hand. The big man pointed to his right with the gun and she saw two huge doors.
The man motioned for her to start walking and she did, but only because she needed something done. Fire was being followed by the big ape and reached the doors quicker than she thought she would. Opening the door, Fire knew who was inside.
The room smelled of mint and maybe even a little vanilla. That scent would be easily placed by anyone who knew the woman. Fire needed this business done soon, so she stepped into the room and the man with the black clothes shut the door behind her without entering. It was time for her to get straight to the point.
“Hello, Angel, it’s nice to see you again,’ Fire nodded grudgingly at the spectacular woman.
“Well, well, well. It looks as if a stray has gotten into my fine establishment. Make it quick Zendone or might just decide to have Leo have a little fun with you.” The small woman stood and pointed an icy glare at Fire. This was going to be a long meeting, thought Fire.
Where in the hell was she, thought Freeze. After his set had been over he had immediately set out to find the vivacious creature of his day dreams. He’d had no such luck in finding her, however. So he’d have to resort to asking Rider, and that was something he was not looking forward to. Freeze was not ready to find out that his brother had slept with the woman of his dreams, but it would have to happen sooner or later.
Approaching his brother slowly, Freeze ran a hand through his tousled blue hair. He caught a few good looking chicks trying to catch his eye, but he played it cool. As he walked up to the bar he found Raven, the bartender.
“Hey Raven, have you seen my brother? I could have sworn I saw him a few seconds ago.” Freeze did another quick scan of the crowd to make sure the beauty or his brother weren’t out there.
Raven turned toward him after she finished serving some beers to some girls and said, “Yeah, I think he just went to his office. Need a drink?” She leaned on the bar showing off her cleavage but he wasn’t really paying attention to that at the moment.
“Sure, give me a vodka with a little lime,” he said and turned toward the dancing pit thinking nothing of what he’d ordered.
“One vodka with a twist comin’ up.” Raven turned toward the bottles slightly surprised by what he’d ordered. Freeze took his drink after Raven chatted with him a little. He now knew she was 20, but that his brother had let her in because he knew her.
Freeze moved away from the bar and made his way back to his brother’s office. He knocked on the door before he entered not caring if his brother gave permission or not. He went in and sat on the leather sofa that was facing his brother’s desk and chair and decided he needed to get straight to the point.
“Who is that girl you were talking with earlier with the red hair? The tall one that dances and looks like a goddess?” There definitely was no turning back now, he was about to find out all about his brother’s sex life.
