Red and blue lights bathe the dreary forest path, a small crowd gathered in the chilly autumn night...
“Is... Is she going to be okay...?”
“Relax, ma’am... Leave this in the hands of the professionals now...”
Luna’s mother and father grieve silently as their daughter is placed onto a stretcher, her face covered... They were told that they wouldn’t want to look at her face... The medic that retrieved her was still shaken up from her... blissfully demented grin.
Police and emergency crews had searched the house and found nothing, except the load of dusty trinkets... They weren’t too sure what had happened to her yet. There were no leads at all.
“Okay, back it up everyone, nothing to see here. Let the process take its course, we’ll get to the bottom of this. Everyone, please go home...” A young police officer speaks up over a megaphone, biting her cherry red lip anxiously... Something about the whole situation had her nervous... It just didn’t seem right...
As the crowds disperse, the scene is sectioned off with police tape, and the investigation concludes for the night. As each squad car pulls away one by one, the young captain stays behind...
Weaving her way past the barricades she finds herself in the room where it happened... The toys are undisturbed in the corner, and at the center, that one book... The crews had investigated it, but it seemed like just nonsense to them. But... something about it called out to her...
